  I have a list of files named: file000 file001 file002 file003 ... file1100 How can I match all files that have a number greater than 800 but less than 1000 ? I am using linux bash Thank you Edit Actually, my files are named like: ab869.enc cp936.enc g122345.enc x2022.enc abc8859-14.enc aax5601.enc cp936-1.enc so the first solution dont match the correct files :( How can I match files that have number between 800-999 ?

• In .NET, How do I separate xml from compiled resource file?

  We have a customer that would like to modify application user messages that we store in .resx files. I'm thinking this can't be done since the xml file behind the .resx is embedded in a compiled dll. Am I correct? Or, is there a way keep the xml outside of the compiled dll? I realize this can easily be done by other means but I like the ease of the resx file--the classes/properties are created for you.

  I would like to start a System.Threading.Timer in my application when it launches (maybe deploy is the correct word). I have seen that you can use Application_Start() but this is only fired once the first request comes to the application. I need the timer to start as soon as the application is running so that it can check for work to process even if a user is not interacting with the site. I could understand .NET didn't allow us to do that, as in .NET you have value types that at run-time can have different sizes, but in Java all kinds of T will be object references, thus having the same size(correct me if I'm wrong).
