  • Using ASP.Net 4.0 for new Dev projects

    I am currently in the early stages of developing a couple web applications, I have not written any code yet as I am still just gathering requirements and scoping things out. I want to target ASP.Net 4.0 winforms as the platform for these apps but I want to make sure there are no glaring issues with this new version before I commit. I understand that if I was porting an existing app from 2.0, 3.5 to 4.0 there may be issues but I am starting from scratch on these projects and plan to write these apps to support the new features of 4.0. Should I wait for the first service pack to come out? Just seems like more work to start with 3.5 now only to go back through and tweak things for 4.0 in just a few months or even before I finish the app. Our servers are Win 2K3 with IIS6 and MS SQL 2000, Should I expect any problems with VS 2010 and MS SQL 2000 in regards to Linq to SQL and EF?

  • Having multiple 'sets' of open files in Netbeans

    I'd like to be able to have multiple "sets" of open files in netbeans but i didn't find a way or plugin to do it. Say i have 5 file related to "bug xyz" but i want to start working on feature "abc". Instead of having 10 files open i'd like to be able to say "create new set of files" and work on those and switch back and forth. Is there some way it netbeans to achieve this ?

  • WPF Manipulation and Touch events not firing, but mouse events do?

    I have a Samsung LD220Z multi touch monitor, and when I'm experimenting with some WPF and touch features the touch events arent firing. The mouse down event seems to be firing however. Does this mean that I have to take into account that not all touch screen behave the same, and how do I get the touch inputs on my screen? I've tried the Windows 7 Touch pack that microsoft released. And the multi touch features seems to work there. Any suggestion on how to proceed with this?

  • Perl: How do I extract certain bits from a byte and then covert these bits to a hex value?

    I need to extract certain bits of a byte and covert the extract bits back to a hex value. Example (the value of the byte is 0xD2) : 76543210 bit position 11010010 is 0xD2 Bit 0-3 defines the channel which is 0010b is 0x2 Bit 4-5 defines the controller which is 01b is 0x1 Bit 6-7 defines the port which is 11b is 0x3 I somehow need to get from the byte is 0xD2 to channel is 0x2, controller is 0x1, port is 0x3 I googled allot and found the functions pack/unpack, vec and sprintf. But I'm scratching by head how to use the functions to achieve this. Any idea how to achieve this in Perl ?

    First off sorry if I'm missing something simple just started working with AJAX today. I have an issue where I'm trying to get information from my database, but different records have different amounts of values. For instance, each record has a "features" column. In the features column I store a string. (ex: Feature1~Feature2~Feature3~Feature4... ) When I'm building the object I take apart the string and store all the features into an array. Some objects can have 1 feature others can have up to whatever. So... how do I return this values back to my ajax function from my php page? I can't figure out how to pass parameters to the named scope.

    Is it possible to make GNU Emacs 24 dim unfocused windows a bit? For example, I can set my rxvt-unicode clients to become darker when their windows don't have focus with this string in ~/.Xdefaults: URxvt*fading: 50 It greatly reduces discomfort when you have a lot of terminal windows on 2+ monitors.     From PDB (Pdb) help l l(ist) [first [,last]] List source code for the current file. Without arguments, list 11 lines around the current line or continue the previous listing. With one argument, list 11 lines starting at that line. With two arguments, list the given range; if the second argument is less than the first, it is a count. The "continue the previous listing" feature is really nice, but how do you turn it off?

    I'm sure you know the problem, as soon as a BindingSource is connected to a DataGridView the DataGridView generates columns for each Property found in the Type of the BindingSource's DataSource and adds that crap to the Form.Designer.cs file. We only use run time generated columns, the clutter in the designer file is just waste of code, so how can we stop this "feature" of the DataGridView in WinForms?

    I'm using Tycho 0.16.0 and still getting the following Error: Error - 7 icon(s) not replaced in C:\Users\weich01\AppData\Local\Temp\p2.brandingIron8219115442087687624\launcher.exe using C:\Development\Workspaces\Workspace RCP SR2\de.mycompany.myproduct.product\target\products\MyProduct\de.mycompany.myproduct.feature\logo_pms_2011.ico This error should be fixed in v0.16, shouldn't it? With eclipse export everything works fine, so product definition is correct. The icon file contains bmp in all sizes. Thanks for your help

  • C++ Dynamic Allocation Mismatch: Is this problematic?

    I have been assigned to work on some legacy C++ code in MFC. One of the things I am finding all over the place are allocations like the following: struct Point { float x,y,z; }; ... void someFunc( void ) { int numPoints = ...; Point* pArray = (Point*)new BYTE[ numPoints * sizeof(Point) ]; ... //do some stuff with points ... delete [] pArray; } I realize that this code is atrociously wrong on so many levels (C-style cast, using new like malloc, confusing, etc). I also realize that if Point had defined a constructor it would not be called and weird things would happen at delete [] if a destructor had been defined. Question: I am in the process of fixing these occurrences wherever they appear as a matter of course. However, I have never seen anything like this before and it has got me wondering. Does this code have the potential to cause memory leaks/corruption as it stands currently (no constructor/destructor, but with pointer type mismatch) or is it safe as long as the array just contains structs/primitive types?

    In dojo, one cannot call a overidden superclass method outside of the same method in the derived class (for which there is this.inherited(), other than that one can call using class_name.function_name.apply). This feature is no longer there because of some refactoring and dojo guys are not going to put it back because they are not convinced about a good enough case for this.     Hi, As you are aware Oracle 11g has new facility of case sensitive password. We want to make use of it. When my C# application connects to oracle databse using ODP.Net 2.111.7.0 I am getting ora-1017 error. When we switch off this case sensitive feature it works without any change to the connection string. Any idea what is missing? is there any escape sequence we can use to specify lowercase characters in password? Thanks

    I'm working on a personal game engine in C# and need to give certain characters / sprites responses to conditions or certain patterns that they follow and since these patterns will be repeated over and over for other characters / sprites, I don't want to tie the patterns to the character / sprite. I will likely want to define the conditions / actions in level data files... I plan to use this for platformers, space shooters, and pack man like games... Almost an extenable AI system.   • easy hex/float conversion

    I am doing some input/output between a c++ and a python program (only floating point values) python has a nice feature of converting floating point values to hex-numbers and back as you can see in this link: http://docs.python.org/library/stdtypes.html#additional-methods-on-float Is there an easy way in C++ to to something similar? and convert the python output back to C++ double/float? This way I would not have the problem of rounding errors when exchanging data between the two processes... thx for the answers!
