• Is there a Silverlight equivalent to "Application.OpenForms"?

  Basically, I'm trying to take information entered by the user on one page and print it out to another page via a "printer friendly" version, or report, of something. I have a MainPage.xaml that is, as the name suggests, my main page, but in a window there is the subpage AdCalculator.xaml where the user enters the information and PrintEstimate.xaml that is navigated to via a button on AdCalculator. I would like to be able to transfer the information entered in the textboxes from AdCalculator and print it out via text blocks in PrintEstimate. Following a lead from a colleague, I believe all I need to do is change the line Views.AdCalculator AdCalc = new Views.AdCalculator(); to Views.AdCalculator AdCalc = (AdCalculator)Application.OpenForms["AdCalculator"]; except the "Apllication.OpenForms" doesn't register. I know there are a lot of differences in the way C# code-behind is laid out for silverlight applications, so I didn't know if there was an equivalent that anyone knew about to "Application.OpenForms" that would help solve my issue or if there was any other way to go about getting my task done. • JQuery not copying state dropdown list 1 to DDL2 on checkbox change

  I've looked at similar posts on the subject but none of the recommended solutions have worked for me so I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. I have a billing and shipping address form with a dropdown list for the state. Upon checking/unchecking the "billing address same as shipping" everything copies over except the state dropdown list. The state dropdown list is populated from a SQLDataSource state table.   I am having comment reply (only till one level) functionality. All comments can have as many as replies but no replies can have their further replies. So my database table structure is like below Id ParentId Comment 1 0 this is come sample comment text 2 0 this is come sample comment text 3 0 this is come sample comment text 4 1 this is come sample comment text 5 0 this is come sample comment text 6 3 this is come sample comment text 7 1 this is come sample comment text In the above structures, commentid, 1 (has 2 replies) and 3 (1 reply) has replies. So to fetch the comments and their replies, one simple method is first I fetch all the comments having ParentId as 0 and then by running a while loop fetch all the replies of that particular commentId. But that seems to be running hundreds of queries if I'll have around 200 comments on a particular record. So I want to make a query which will fetch Comments with their replies sequentially as following; Id ParentId Comment 1 0 this is come sample comment text 4 1 this is come sample comment text 7 1 this is come sample comment text 2 0 this is come sample comment text 3 0 this is come sample comment text 6 3 this is come sample comment text 5 0 this is come sample comment text I also have a comment date column in my comment table, if anyone wants to use this with comment query. Quite honestly I'm finding it very difficult to come up with a solution, and I'd appreciate any help.

  In python, I can alter the state of an instance by directly assigning to attributes, or by making method calls which alter the state of the attributes: foo.thing = 'baz' or: foo.thing('baz') Is there a nice way to create a class which would accept both of the above forms which scales to large numbers of attributes that behave this way? (Shortly, I'll show an example of an implementation that I don't particularly like.) If you're thinking that this is a stupid API, let me know, but perhaps a more concrete example is in order. Say I have a Document class. Document could have an attribute title. However, title may want to have some state as well (font,fontsize,justification,...), but the average user might be happy enough just setting the title to a string and being done with it ... • Java multithreaded server - each connection returns data. Processing on main thread?

  I am writing a client with an integrated server that should wait indefinitely for new connections - and handle each on a Thread. I want to process the received byte array in a system wide available message handler on the main thread. However, currently the processing is obviously done on the client thread. I've looked at Futures, submit() of ExecutorService, but as I create my Client-Connections within the Server, the data would be returned to the Server thread. How can I return it from there onto the main thread (in a synchronized packet store maybe?) to process it without blocking the server? • Why is text on my TV monitor all grainy?

  I have successfully installed the Catalyst drivers and hooked up my 1080p TV to the Radeon HD 5750's HDMI port and now it is working. There only seems to be one issue - most images appear OK, at least to my eyes, but text is grainy and difficult to read (not sure how well it can be seen in the picture): It works fine with a smaller screen, and hopefully you can see it with the new pictures which are only slightly better, but images are rendered a little funny too. Changing antialiasing does nothing and changing the refresh rate only makes a slight change if any. The small monitor I have works fine. Smaller resolutions such as 1024x768 look OK but are the wrong aspect ratio. I have tried renaming the input mode on the TV to "PC", and that helped... a little bit. Also, I tried a different PC with the same result. Messing around extensively with the ATI Catalyst Control Center also did not help. I am wondering if there is anything else I can try to increase the quality so it is more usable.

  I have a site currently written with HTML5 tags. I'd like to be able to parse the site as XML, with support for namespaces, etc, to facilitate programmatic extraction of data. Currently I have <!DOCTYPE html> and <meta charset="utf-8"> Which I gather is equivalent in HTML5 to explicitly setting the content-types as <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> for my current setup. In order to serve XML it sounds like the right thing to do is <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> Should I also change my Content-Type to <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="application/xhtml+xml; charset=iso-8859-1" /> Or is that not necessary? What is the advantage of having content-type be "application/xhtml+xml"? What is the disadvantage? • Cannot start session without errors in phpMyAdmin running Nginx with PHP-FPM

  Whenever I open phpMyAdmin from my VPS I get the following error: Cannot start session without errors, please check errors given in your PHP and/or webserver log file and configure your PHP installation properly. I have researched it, but cant seem to find a solution, I have done the following: Cleared cache and cookies Checked the php.ini (see below) Checked the logs (found nothing relevant) Given the correct permissions. [by sudo chown -R root:nginx /home/humza/pma] I am running Nginx with PHP-FPM, I have php-mysql and all that working fine but I can't get phpMyAdmin to work. Currently when I quit man or ctrl-C, the man text disappears and I see the scrollback buffer that was there before I performed the 'man' command. I would like to still see the 'man' text I was viewing as a reference while I'm typing the command at the command prompt without opening a second window, how can I do that?

• Android listview produces black highlighting over text when scrolling. How to stop this?

  I have a listview within which each item contains black text on a white background. When testing on a Nexus One, when scrolling down to read through the text, a black highlight appears over the text and makes it unreadable. I am trying to figure out what is this setting so I can turn it off. I do not want anything to get highlighted when scrolling down through the list. How can I accomplish this? Thanks.
