• How to launch activity from android home screen widget

  Hi all, I am desperately trying to get my head wrapped around how to implement home screen widgets. Right now, I (finally) was able to get a button on my widget respond to a button press setting up an intent filter in the manifest. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to launch an activity when the button is pressed. Basically, here's the code i have: @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { super.onReceive(context, intent); if(intent.getAction().equals("com.bic.search.searchWidget.CLICK")) { Toast.makeText(context, "It works!!", Toast.LENGTH_SHORT).show(); } } What I really want to do, though, is start a new activity, not display a toast message. I know it has something to do with pending intents, but I can't figure out how to get that to work. Any help and sample code would be appreciated. Thanks a ton to whoever answers this!

  I'm a PHP developer (not a DBA) and I've been working with Oracle 10g XE for a while. I'm used to XE's simplified user management: Go to Administration/ Users/ Create user Assign user name and password Roles: leave the default ones (connect and resource) Privileges: click on "Enable all" to select the 11 possible ones Create This way I get a user that has full access to its data and no access to everything else. This is fine since I only need it to develop my app. When the app is to be deployed, the client's DBAs configure the environment. Now I have to create users in a full Oracle 11g server and I'm completely lost. I have a new concept (profiles) and there're like 20 roles and hundreds of privileges in various categories. Now i want to call this webservice from php. but i am not able to do so.   I have 3 tables. A primary EmploymentPlan table with PK GUID EmploymentPlanID and 2 FK's GUID PrevocServicesID & GUID JobDevelopmentServicesID. There are of course other fields, almost exclusively varchar(). Then the 2 secondary tables with the corresponding PK to the primary's FK's. I am trying to write the LINQ INSERT Method and am struggling with the creation of the keys. Say I have a method like below. Is that correct? Will that even work? Should I have seperate methods for each? Also, when INSERTING I didn't think I needed to provide the PK for a table. It is auto-generated, no? What I'm trying to achieve is this: User selects some text on the page If the selection is not empty - show a context menu If user clicks somewhere else - the context menu should disappear I'm having troubles with the above i.e. sometimes the context menu appears correctly, sometimes it appears and disappears straight after user makes a selection. Please help. See the relevant parts of my code below.   To Clarify: my question is why isn't my password policy applying to people in the domain. Hey guys, having trouble with our password policy in Active Directory. Sometimes it just helps me to type out what I’m seeing It appears to not be applying properly across the board. I am new to this environment and AD in general but I think I have a general grasp of what should be going on. It’s a pretty simple AD setup without too many Group Policies being applied. It looks something like this DOMAIN Default Domain Policy (link enabled) Password Policy (link enabled and enforce) Personal OU Force Password Change (completely empty nothing in this GPO) IT OU Lockout Policy (link enabled and enforced) CS OU Lockout Policy Accouting OU Lockout Policy The password policy and default domain policy both define the same things under Computer ConfigWindows seetings sec settings Account Policies / Password Policy Enforce password History : 24 passwords remembered Maximum Password age : 180 days Min password age: 14 days Minimum Password Length: 6 characters Password must meet complexity requirements: Enabled Store Passwords using reversible encryption: Disabled Account Policies / Account Lockout Policy Account Lockout Duration 10080 Minutes Account Lockout Threshold: 5 invalid login attempts Reset Account Lockout Counter after : 30 minutes IT lockout This just sets the screen saver settings to lock computers when the user is Idle. After running Group Policy modeling it seems like the password policy and default domain policy is getting applied to everyone.   How do I write an openssl server that on a single port has two different active RSA private keys? The openssl documentation seems to implies there can only be one rsa private key active at time with in a context. So I was thinking I have two active context, but what is the code to handle figuring out which connection matches which context. Or am I going about this the wrong way.

  Hi, i'm creating a very simple (hello World quality) web application using spring mvc 3.0. when deploying the application on tomcat 6.0.26 and i try to open http://localhost:8080/protoweb/helloWorld.html i get 404, resource /protoweb/WEB-INF/jsp/helloWorld.jsp is not available. No issues accessing it internally or externally.   I have a feeling this is a stupid question but I can't find the answer anywhere... I need to deploy 2 Jira instances on asingle Tomcat server, I can't figure out how to pass in the jira.home property The documentation says I need to:- Add a web context property called 'jira.home' — this property is set in different files depending on your application server. For example, for Tomcat (and therefore for JIRA Standalone), you will need to configure the server.xml file. For other application servers you may need to configure the web.xml file, or set 'Context parameter' options on the deployment UI of the application server, etc. Note that If you have specified a JIRA home in jira-application.properties (ie. the recommended method), it will override your web context property. • How to Access a decendant object's internal method in C#

  I'm trying to access a method that is marked as internal in the parent class (in its own assembly) in an object that inherits from the same parent. Let me explain what I'm trying to do... I want to create Service classes that return IEnumberable with an underlying List to non-Service classes (e.g. the UI) and optionally return an IEnumerable with an underlying IQueryable to other services. I wrote some sample code to demonstrate what I'm trying to accomplish, shown below. The example is not real life, so please remember that when commenting. All services would inherit from something like this (only relevant code shown): public class ServiceBase<T> { protected readonly ObjectContext _context; protected string _setName = String.Empty; public ServiceBase(ObjectContext context) { _context = context; } public IEnumerable<T> GetAll() { return GetAll(false); } //These are not the correct access modifiers.. I want something //that is accessible to children classes AND between descendant classes internal protected IEnumerable<T> GetAll(bool returnQueryable) { var query = _context.CreateQuery<T>(GetSetName()); if(returnQueryable) { return query; } else { return query.ToList(); } } private string GetSetName() { //Some code... return _setName; } } Inherited services would look like this: public class EmployeeService : ServiceBase<Employees> { public EmployeeService(ObjectContext context) : base(context) { } } public class DepartmentService : ServiceBase<Departments> { private readonly EmployeeService _employeeService; public DepartmentService(ObjectContext context, EmployeeService employeeService) : base(context) { _employeeService = employeeService; } public IList<Departments> DoSomethingWithEmployees(string lastName) { //won't work because method with this signature is not visible to this class var emps = _employeeService.GetAll(true); //more code... } } Because the parent class lives is reusable, it would live in a different assembly than the child services. With GetAll(bool returnQueryable) being marked internal, the children would not be able to see each other's GetAll(bool) method, just the public GetAll() method. I know that I can add a new internal GetAll method to each service (or perhaps an intermediary parent class within the same assembly) so that each child service within the assembly can see each other's method; but it seems unnecessary since the functionality is already available in the parent class. For example: internal IEnumerable<Employees> GetAll(bool returnIQueryable) { return base.GetAll(returnIQueryable); } Essentially what I want is for services to be able to access other service methods as IQueryable so that they can further refine the uncommitted results, while everyone else gets plain old lists. Any ideas?
