  • PHP error log does not display script names nor does it display the errors' line numbers [migrated]

    - by gnxtech3
    I think the title is self-explanatory, and my Google-fu isn't bringing up anything useful. I'm working on a new host, and my php error log only displays the error itself, not which script is the offender, nor which line number the error is occurring on. Makes it a tad difficult to debug, especially since there's only 1 error in the script. More info: I'm not using a custom error handler that I'm aware of. This is a standard Wordpress install. The error was [27-Aug-2012 19:22:36 UTC] PHP NOTICE: Trying to get property of non-object. Just no script name or line number in the error I found that Wordpress' error logging contained the information to debug the problem, but that doesn't explain why the log didn't contain line number or script.

  • ( height 100% ) plus (2-column css)

    - by denja
    Hi! I need a 2-column interface to stretch 100% height the page. PS: If the contents is too long, the scroll bar should appear. it After this question is solved, I'll try to add a sticky footer to the interface. I've really tried hard to find the answer by myself... Thanks if you have any idea here's the code <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en-GB"> <head> <title>2 Column CSS Demo - Equal Height Columns with Cross-Browser CSS</title> <style media="screen" type="text/css"> /* <!-- */ *{ margin:0; padding:0; } html { background-color: #ccc; height: 100%; } body { background-color: white; width: 600px; margin: 0 auto; height:100%; position: relative; border-left: 1px solid #888; border-right: 2px solid black; } #footer { clear:both; width:100%; height:0px;font-size:0px; } #container2 { clear:left; float:left; width:600px; overflow:hidden; background:#ffa7a7; } #container1 { float:left; width:600px; position:relative; right:200px; background:#fff689; } #col1 { float:left; width:400px; position:relative; left:200px; overflow:hidden; } #col2 { float:left; width:200px; position:relative; left:200px; overflow:hidden; } /* --> */ </style> </head> <body> <div id="container2"> <div id="container1"> <div id="col1"> aaaa a a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a aa a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a a a a a aa aa a a a a aa a a a a aa aa a </div> <div id="col2"> fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn fghdfghsfgddn v </div> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> &nbsp; </div> </body>

  • How to retrieve multiple anchors URLs with jQuery ?

    - by pierre-guillaume-degans
    Hello, I would like to create a javascript playlist with Jplayer. This is a nice and easy tool, however I never coded with javascript. Look at the javascript used in this demo. It uses a list to store MP3 and Ogg files : var myPlayList = [ {name:"Tempered Song",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-01-Tempered-song.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-01-Tempered-song.ogg"}, {name:"Hidden",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-02-Hidden.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-02-Hidden.ogg"}, {name:"Lentement",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-03-Lentement.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-03-Lentement.ogg"}, {name:"Lismore",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-04-Lismore.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-04-Lismore.ogg"}, {name:"The Separation",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-05-The-separation.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-05-The-separation.ogg"}, {name:"Beside Me",mp3:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/mp3/Miaow-06-Beside-me.mp3",ogg:"http://www.miaowmusic.com/ogg/Miaow-06-Beside-me.ogg"}, ]; So for now, I just use a django template (but it could be another template engine) to create this variable. However I would like to create this list (myPlayList) dynamically with a javascript function which would retrieve the MP3 urls and the Ogg vorbis URLs from the HTML code. Thus, from this HTML code...: <body> <article id="track-0"> <h1>lorem ipsum</h1> <ul> <li><a href="...">Mp3</a></li> <li><a href="...">Vorbis</a></li> <li><a href="...">Flac</a></li> </ul> </article> <article id="track-1"> <h1>lorem ipsum</h1> <ul> <li><a href="...">Mp3</a></li> <li><a href="...">Vorbis</a></li> <li><a href="...">Flac</a></li> </ul> </article> <article id="track-2"> <h1>lorem ipsum</h1> <ul> <li><a href="...">Mp3</a></li> <li><a href="...">Vorbis</a></li> <li><a href="...">Flac</a></li> </ul> </article> </body> ... I need to build a javascript list like this (where each index of the list represents the track-ID in the HTML: var files = [ {mp3:"...", ogg:"..."}, {mp3:"...", ogg:"..."}, {mp3:"...", ogg:"..."}, ]; Please excuse me for my ugly english. If you need more informations just tell me. Thank you. :-)

  • CSS: Labels in table columns

    - by hello
    Hello. BACKGROUND: I would like to have small labels in columns of a table. I'm using some implemented parts of HTML5/CSS3 in my project, and this section specifically is for mobile devices. While both facts are not necessarily relevant, the bottom line is that I don't have to support Internet Explorer or even Firefox for that matter (just WebKit). THE PROBLEM With my current CSS approach, the vertical padding of the cell comes from the <span element (set to display: block with top/bottom margins), which contains the "value" of the column. As a result there's no padding when the <span> is empty or missing (no value) and the label is not in place. The "full" coulmns should give you the idea of where I want the labels to be, even if there's no value, and the <span> is not there. I realize that I could use "non-breaking-space", but I would really like to avoid it. I wonder if any of you have a fix / better way to do this? current code is below. Thank you for any help. <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>ah</title> <style> body { width: 320px; } /* TABLE */ table { width: 100%; border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial; } th, td { border: 1px solid #ccc; border-width: 0px 0px 1px 1px; } th:last-child, td:last-child { border-right-width: 1px; } tr:first-child th { border-top-width: 1px; background: #efefef; } /* RELEVANT STUFF */ td { padding: 3px; } td sup { display: block; } td span { display: block; margin: 3px 0px; text-align: center; } </style> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <th colspan="3">something</th> </tr> <tr> <td><sup>some label</sup><span>any content</span></td> <td><sup>some label</sup><span>any content</span></td> <td><sup>some label</sup><span></span></td><!-- No content, just a label --> </tr> </table> </body> </html>

  • Cross Browser Issue

    - by dazedandconfused
    My background is in WinForms programming and I'm trying to branch out a bit. I'm finding cross-browser issues a frustrating barrier in general, but have a specific one that I just can't seem to work through. I want to display an image and place a semi-transparent bar across the top and bottom. This isn't my ultimate goal, of course, but it demonstrates the problem I'm having ina a relatively short code fragment so let's go with it. The sample code below displays as intended in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. In IE8, the bar at the bottom doesn't appear at all. I've researched it for hours but just can't seem to come up with the solution. I'm sure this is some dumb rookie mistake, but gotta start somewhere. Code snippet... <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <title></title> <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript"> </script> <style type="text/css"> .workarea { position: relative; border: 1px solid black; background-color: #ccc; overflow: hidden; cursor: move; -moz-user-focus: normal; -moz-user-select: none; unselectable: on; } .semitransparent { filter: alpha(opacity=70); -moz-opacity: 0.7; -khtml-opacity: 0.7; opacity: 0.7; background-color: Gray; } </style> </head> <body style="width: 800px; height: 600px;"> <div id="workArea" class="workarea" style="width: 800px; height: 350px; left: 100px; top: 50px; background-color: White; border: 1px solid black;"> <img alt="" src="images/TestImage.jpg" style="left: 0px; top: 0px; border: none; z-index: 1;" /> <div id="topBar" class="semitransparent" style="position: absolute;width: 800px; height: 75px; left: 0px; top: 0px; min-height: 75px; border: none; z-index: 2;" /> <div id="bottomBar" class="semitransparent" style="position: absolute; width: 800px; height: 75px; left: 0px; top: 275px; min-height: 75px; border: none; z-index: 2;" /> </div> </body> </html>

  • Choosing a scripting language for game and implementing it

    - by Radius
    Hello, I am currently developing a 3D Action/RPG game in C++, and I would like some advice in choosing a scripting language to program the AI of the game. My team comes from a modding background, and in fact we are still finishing work on a mod of the game Gothic. In that game (which we also got our inspiration from) the language DAEDALUS (created by Piranha Bytes, the makers of the game) is used. Here is a full description of said language. The main thing to notice about this is that it uses instances moreso than classes. The game engine is closed, and so one can only guess about the internal implementation of this language, but the main thing I am looking for in a scripting language (which ideally would be quite similar but preferably also more powerful than DAEDALUS) is the fact that there are de facto 3 'separations' of classes - ie classes, instances and (instances of instances?). I think it will be easier to understand what I want if I provide an example. Take a regular NPC. First of all you have a class defined which (I understand) mirrors the (class or structure) inside the engine: CLASS C_NPC { VAR INT id ; // absolute ID des NPCs VAR STRING name [5] ; // Namen des NPC VAR STRING slot ; VAR INT npcType ; VAR INT flags ; VAR INT attribute [ATR_INDEX_MAX] ; VAR INT protection [PROT_INDEX_MAX]; VAR INT damage [DAM_INDEX_MAX] ; VAR INT damagetype ; VAR INT guild,level ; VAR FUNC mission [MAX_MISSIONS] ; var INT fight_tactic ; VAR INT weapon ; VAR INT voice ; VAR INT voicePitch ; VAR INT bodymass ; VAR FUNC daily_routine ; // Tagesablauf VAR FUNC start_aistate ; // Zustandsgesteuert // ********************** // Spawn // ********************** VAR STRING spawnPoint ; // Beim Tod, wo respawnen ? VAR INT spawnDelay ; // Mit Delay in (Echtzeit)-Sekunden // ********************** // SENSES // ********************** VAR INT senses ; // Sinne VAR INT senses_range ; // Reichweite der Sinne in cm // ********************** // Feel free to use // ********************** VAR INT aivar [50] ; VAR STRING wp ; // ********************** // Experience dependant // ********************** VAR INT exp ; // EXerience Points VAR INT exp_next ; // EXerience Points needed to advance to next level VAR INT lp ; // Learn Points }; Then, you can also define prototypes (which set some default values). But how you actually define an NPC is like this: instance BAU_900_Ricelord (Npc_Default) //Inherit from prototype Npc_Default { //-------- primary data -------- name = "Ryzowy Ksiaze"; npctype = NPCTYPE_GUARD; guild = GIL_BAU; level = 10; voice = 12; id = 900; //-------- abilities -------- attribute[ATR_STRENGTH] = 50; attribute[ATR_DEXTERITY] = 10; attribute[ATR_MANA_MAX] = 0; attribute[ATR_MANA] = 0; attribute[ATR_HITPOINTS_MAX]= 170; attribute[ATR_HITPOINTS] = 170; //-------- visuals -------- // animations Mdl_SetVisual (self,"HUMANS.MDS"); Mdl_ApplyOverlayMds (self,"Humans_Arrogance.mds"); Mdl_ApplyOverlayMds (self,"HUMANS_DZIDA.MDS"); // body mesh ,bdytex,skin,head mesh ,headtex,teethtex,ruestung Mdl_SetVisualBody (self,"Hum_Body_CookSmith",1,1,"Hum_Head_FatBald",91 , 0,-1); B_Scale (self); Mdl_SetModelFatness(self,2); fight_tactic = FAI_HUMAN_STRONG; //-------- Talente -------- Npc_SetTalentSkill (self,NPC_TALENT_1H,1); //-------- inventory -------- CreateInvItems (self, ItFoRice,10); CreateInvItem (self, ItFoWine); CreateInvItems(self, ItMiNugget,40); EquipItem (self, Heerscherstab); EquipItem (self, MOD_AMULETTDESREISLORDS); CreateInvItem (self, ItMi_Alchemy_Moleratlubric_01); //CreateInvItem (self,ItKey_RB_01); EquipItem (self, Ring_des_Lebens); //-------------Daily Routine------------- daily_routine = Rtn_start_900; }; FUNC VOID Rtn_start_900 () { TA_Boss (07,00,20,00,"NC_RICELORD"); TA_SitAround (20,00,24,00,"NC_RICELORD_SIT"); TA_Sleep (24,00,07,00,"NC_RICEBUNKER_10"); }; As you can see, the instance declaration is more like a constructor function, setting values and calling functions from within. This still wouldn't pose THAT much of a problem, if not for one more thing: multiple copies of this instance. For example, you can spawn multiple BAU_900_Ricelord's, and each of them keeps track of its own AI state, hitpoints etc. Now I think the instances are represented as ints (maybe even as the id of the NPC) inside the engine, as whenever (inside the script) you use the expression BAU_900_Ricelord it can be only assigned to an int variable, and most functions that operate on NPCs take that int value. However to directly modify its hitpoints etc you have to do something like var C_NPC npc = GetNPC(Bau_900_Ricelord); npc.attribute[ATR_HITPOINTS] = 10; ie get the actual C_NPC object that represents it. To finally recap - is it possible to get this kind of behaviour in any scripting languages you know of, or am I stuck with having to make my own? Or maybe there is an even better way of representing NPC's and their behaviours that way. The IDEAL language for scripting for me would be C#, as I simply adore that language, but somehow I doubt it is possible or indeed feasible to try and implement a similar kind of behaviour in C#. Many thanks

  • AJAX Password Change without Refresh

    - by Richard
    I'm trying to implement password change functionality into my website. I've got all the password changing script, validation, etc done. But now I need to prevent the page from going to the script page or refreshing. When the user clicks the submit button, I want nothing to change except a message displaying successfully changed or error. So here's my html: <form id="change_Pass" action="" method="post"> Current Password<input type="password" id="change_password" name="change_password"><br> New Password<input type="password" id="new_password" name="new_password"><br> Verify Password<input type="password" id="verify_password" name="verify_password"><br> <input type="submit" value="Submit" id="change_pass_submit"> </form> And my jquery: $('#change_pass_submit').click(function(){ var $this = $(this); $.ajax({ data: $this.serialize(), // get the form data type: "POST", // GET or POST url: "/Private/change_password.php", // the file to call success: function() { // on success.. //$('#success_div).html(response); // update the DIV alert("good"); }, error: function() { // on error.. //$('#error_div).html(e); // update the DIV alert("bad"); } }); return false; //so it doesn't refresh when submitting the page }); And my php: <?php session_start(); require_once '../classes/Bcrypt.php'; ini_set('display_errors', 'On'); error_reporting(E_ALL | E_STRICT); $usr = $_SESSION["username"]; $old_pwd = $_POST["change_password"]; $new_pwd = $_POST["new_password"]; $new_pwd = Bcrypt::hash($new_pwd); try { $link = new PDO('mysql:host=*;dbname=*;charset=UTF-8','*','*'); $query = "SELECT * FROM Conference WHERE Username = :un"; $stmt = $link->prepare($query); $stmt->bindParam(':un', $usr); $stmt->execute(); $row = $stmt->fetchAll(); $hash = $row[0]["Password"]; $is_correct = Bcrypt::check($old_pwd, $hash); if($is_correct) { $query = "UPDATE Conference SET `Password`=:new_pwd WHERE Username = :usr"; $stmt = $link->prepare($query); $stmt->bindParam(':new_pwd', $new_pwd); $stmt->bindParam(':usr', $usr); $stmt->execute(); return true; } else return false; } catch(PDOException $e) { print "Error!: " . $e->getMessage() . "<br/>"; die(); } But for some reason, when I hit the submit button, the page STILL goes to change_password.php. I have no idea why, i've looked at so many tutorials and my code matches theirs but for some reason mine won't stay on the same page. Where did I go wrong?

  • Slide div inside another div effect

    - by mariki
    I am trying to create sliding images effect: Online demolink text. The problem is when you click rapidly and randomly on the buttons and not wait for animation to finish causing unpredicted results and even stopping the functionality to work. (and once it stopped in the middle of 2 images...) How Can I make it work without bugs? I know that there are some other tools for that sliding like jquery and other approaches like changing the position attribute and not the scrollLeft attribute. But I want to do it as it is, with scrollLeft, if it possible of course. The Code: <html> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1"> <title>Untitled Document</title> <style type="text/css"> body { padding:0px; margin:0px; } #imageContainer { width: 500px; position: relative; } #div { overflow: hidden; white-space: nowrap; } #div img { cursor: pointer; vertical-align: bottom; width: 500px; padding:0px; margin:0px; display:inline; } </style> <script type="text/javascript"> var scrollIntervalID; var currentIndex=0; function Scroll(ind){ var dir = ind ==currentIndex?0:ind<currentIndex?-1:1; var steps = Math.abs(ind-currentIndex); scrollIntervalID = setInterval(function(){ var i=(steps*10)-1; return function(){ if (i <= 0) clearInterval(scrollIntervalID); var elm = document.getElementById("div"); elm.scrollLeft +=dir * 50; i--; document.getElementById("span").innerHTML=elm.scrollLeft; } }(), 15); currentIndex=ind; } </script> </head> <body> <div id="imageContainer"> <div id="div"> <img id="image1" src="Images/pic1.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image2" src="Images/pic2.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image3" src="Images/pic3.jpg" width="500px"/><img id="image4" src="Images/pic4.jpg" width="500px"/> </div> </div> <div> <input type="button" value="1" onclick="Scroll(0);"/> <input type="button" value="2" onclick="Scroll(1);"/> <input type="button" value="3" onclick="Scroll(2);"/> <input type="button" value="4" onclick="Scroll(3);"/> </div> <span id="span"></span> </body> </html>

  • Best way to get back to using the power of lxml after having to use a regex to find something in an

    - by PyNEwbie
    I am trying to rip some text out of a large number of html documents (numbers in the hundreds of thousands). The documents are really forms but they are prepared by a very large group of different organizations so there is significant variation in how they create the document. For example, the documents are divided into chapters. I might want to extract the contents of Chapter 5 from every document so I can analyze the content of the chapter. Initially I thought this would be easy but it turns out that the authors might use a set of non-nested tables throughout the document to hold the content so that Chapter n could be displayed using td tags inside a table. Or they might use other elements such as p tags H tags, div tags or any other block level element. After trying repeatedly to use lxml to help me identify the beginning and end of each chapter I have determined that it is a lot cleaner to use a regular expression because in every case, no matter what the enclosing html element is the chapter label is always in the form of >Chapter # It is a little more complicated in that there might be some white space or non-breaking space represented in different ways (  or   or just spaces). Nonetheless it was trivial to write a regular expression to identify the beginning of each section. (The beginning of one section is the end of the previous section.) But now I want to use lxml to get the text out. My thought is that I have really no choice but to walk along my string to find the close tag for the element that encloses the text I am using to find the relevant section. That is here is one example where the element holding the Chapter name is a div <div style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN-LEFT: 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0pt; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0pt" align="left"><font style="DISPLAY: inline; FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-SIZE: 10pt; FONT-FAMILY: Times New Roman">Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.</font></div> So I am imagining that I would begin at the location where I found the match for chapter 1 and set up a regular expressions to find the next </div|</td|</p|</h1 . . . So at this point I have identified the type of element holding my chapter heading I can use the same logic to find all of the text that is within that element that is set up a regular expression to help me mark from >Chapter 1.&#160;&#160;&#160;Our Beginnings.< So I have identified where my Chapter 1 begins I can do the same for chapter 2 (which is where Chapter 1 ends) Now I am imagining that I am going to snip the document beginning at the opening of the element that I identified as the element the indicates where chapter 1 begins and ending just before the opening of the element that I identified as the element that indicates where Chapter 2 begins. The string that I have identified will then be fed to lxml to use its power to get the content. I am going to all of this trouble because I have read over and over - never use a regular expression to extract content from html documents and I have not hit on a way to be as accurate with lxml to identify the starting and ending locations for the text I want to extract. For example, I can never be certain that the subtitle of Chapter 1 is Our Beginnings it could be Our Red Canary. Let me say that I spent two solid days trying with lxml to be confident that I had the beginning and ending elements and I could only be accurate <60% of the time but a very short regular expression has given me better than 95% success. I have a tendency to make things more complicated than necessary so I am wondering if anyone has seen or solved a similar problems and if they had an approach (not the details mind you) that they would like to offer.

  • Styling definition lists - IE clear:both bug

    - by Andrea
    Hi guys, I'm trying to style a definition list properly. So far I've got the style that I wanted in Firefox 3.5 and IE 8 but I couldn't get IE6 and IE7 to behave properly... I've already tried any kind of hack and trickery I could possibly think of. It seems like the "clear:both" on the dt doesn't work in IE<=7... Below is the "test page" that I'm using. The markup of the definition list is built on purpose: I wanna test different scenarios such as multiple definitions or empty one. Check it in Firefox 3.5 to see how it should look like. • Text not Being Placed Correctly In the Center

    - by ThatMacLad
    This is another noobish mistake from me but I've placed some text in my page but after adding some padding to my div tag it's impossible for me to place my Text in the vertical center. Here is a preview of my problem: The CSS: body { background-image: url(../images/body-bg.jpg); font-family: arial; } .cms-head { background-image: url(../images/cms-head.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; width: 850px; height: 50px; padding: 5px; margin-bottom: -10px; } .posts-list { background-image: url(../images/new-post-b.png);; width: 840px; height: 500px; padding: 5px; border-bottom: 1px solid #000000; } .content { width: 850px; height: 500px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; } .edit-post-but { background-image: url(../images/new-button.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; width: 60px; height: 40px; } .post-title { width: 834px; height: 40px; background-image: url(../images/post-head.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; -moz-border-radius: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 5px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; padding: 5px; font-size: 20px; color: #ffffff; } .bottom { width: 850px; height: 50px; background-image: url(../images/cms-bot.png); background-repeat: no-repeat; } a:active, a:link, a:visited{ color: #ffffff; } a:hover{ text-decoration:none; } The HTML/PHP: <html> <head> <title>Blog Name | Edit Post</title> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/cms.css" type="text/css" /> </head> <body> <div class="content"> <div class="cms-head"> <a href="newpost.php"><img src="images/new-button.png" /></a> <a href="#"><img src="images/rss-button.png" /></a> </div> <div class="posts-list"> <?php mysql_connect ('localhost', 'root', 'root') ; mysql_select_db ('tmlblog'); $result = mysql_query("SELECT timestamp, id, title FROM php_blog ORDER BY id DESC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $date = date("l F d Y",$row['timestamp']); $id = $row['id']; $title = strip_tags(stripslashes($row['title'])); if (mb_strlen($title) >= 50) { $title = substr($title, 0, 50); $title = $title .   • Heading div images should be displayed at a lower depth

    - by Mack
    I have a webpage where the top 25% of the page is the heading(with images in it) & the rest of the page has the content. I am trying to get the heading div to display is pictures at a lower depth as the content div because currently the heading images overflow into the content div(intentionally) & when they do they mess up the positioning of the HTML elements in the content div. My code below should make the heading div display below the content div but it doesn't. Can you help me figure out why & how to fix it? My CSS: html, body { height: 100%; width: 100%; } body { background-color: RGB(255, 255, 255); margin: 20px; text-align: center; } #outerContainer { background-color: #DCFF9A; height: 100%; width: 100%; } #header { width: 1200px; height: 25%; background-color: blue; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; overflow: visible; z-index: -5; } #main { display: block; width: 1200px; height: 60%; background-color: blue; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; z-index: 5; } #navBar { float: left; height: 800px; width: 240px; background-color: red; } #content { float: left; height: 800px; width: 760px; background-color: yellow; } #kamaleiText { float: left; } #kamaleiLogo { float: left; padding-top: 30px; background-color: green; z-index: inherit; } #kamaleiLeaves { float: right; z-index: -2; background-color: cyan; z-index: inherit; } And my HTML is the following: <body> <div id="outerContainer"> <div id="header"> <img id="kamaleiLogo" src="" alt="Pic1" height="98%" width="300px"/> <!-- Knowtice if I set the width to something smaller then everything is spaced out correctly, so these elements are not being shown below others when they should be --> <img id="kamaleiLeaves" src="" alt="Pic2" height="300px" width="300px"/> </div> <br/> <div id="main"> <div id="navBar"> </div> <div id="content"> abcdef </div> </div> </div> </body>

  • Setting hidden input value in Javascript, then accessing it in c# codebehind

    - by Siegesmith
    Thank you for reading my question. I have been trying to set the value of a hidden input by using Javascript and then access the value from within my C# codebehind. When I run the code that is copied below, the value that is assigned to assignedIDs is "", which I assume is the default value for a hidden input. If I manually set the value in the html tag, then assignedIDs is set to that value. This behavior suggests to me that the value of the input is being reset (re-rendered?) between the onClientClick and onClick events firing. I would appreciate any help with the matter. I have spent hours trying to solve what seems like a very simple problem. html/javascript: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Admin Page - Manage Tasks</title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function PopulateAssignedIDHiddenInput() { var source = document.getElementById('assignedLinguistListBox'); var s = ""; var count = source.length; for (var i = count - 1; i >= 0; i--) { var item = source.options[i]; if (s == "") { s = source.options[i].value; } else { s = s.concat(",",source.options[i].value); } } document.getElementById('assignedIDHiddenInput').Value = s; // I have confirmed that, at this point, the value of // the hidden input is set properly } </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:Panel id="EditMode" runat="server"> <table style="border: none;"> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="availableLinguistLabel" runat="server" Text="Available"></asp:Label><br /> <asp:ListBox ID="availableLinguistListBox" runat="server" Rows="10" SelectionMode="Multiple"></asp:ListBox> </td> <td> <input type="button" name="right" value="&gt;&gt;" onclick="Javascript:MoveItem('availableLinguistListBox', 'assignedLinguistListBox');" /><br /><br /> <input type="button" name="left" value="&lt;&lt;" onclick="Javascript:MoveItem('assignedLinguistListBox', 'availableLinguistListBox');" /> </td> <td> <asp:Label ID="assignedLinguistLabel" runat="server" Text="Assigned To"></asp:Label><br /> <asp:ListBox ID="assignedLinguistListBox" runat="server" Rows="10" SelectionMode="Multiple"></asp:ListBox> </td> </tr> </table> //-snip- <asp:Button ID="save_task_changes_button" runat="server" ToolTip="Click to save changes to task" Text="Save Changes" OnClick="save_task_changes_button_click" OnClientClick="Javascript:PopulateAssignedIDHiddenInput()" /> </asp:Panel> <!-- Hidden Inputs --> <!-- Note that I have also tried setting runat="server" with no change --> <input id="assignedIDHiddenInput" name="assignedIDHiddenInput" type="hidden" /> </div> </form> </body> c# protected void save_task_changes_button_click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string assignedIDs = Request.Form["assignedIDHiddenInput"]; // Here, assignedIDs == ""; also, Request.Params["assignedIDHiddenInput"] == "" // -snip- }

  • Understanding the passing of data/life of a script in web development/CodeIgniter

    - by Pete Jodo
    I hope I worded the title accurately enough but I typically use Java and don't have much experience in Web Development/PHP/CodeIgniter. I have a difficult time understanding the life cycle of a script as I found out trying to implement a certain feature to a website I am developing (as a means of learning how to). I'll first describe the feature I tried implementing and then the problem I ran into that made me question my fundamental understanding of how scripts work since I'm used to typical OOP. Ok so here goes... I have a webpage that has 2 basic tasks a user can do, create and delete an entry. What I attempted to implement was a way to time a user how long it takes them to complete a certain task. The way I did this was have a homepage where there would be a list of tasks a user to choose from (in this case 2, create and delete). A user would click a task which would link to the 'true' homepage where the user then would be expected to complete the task. My script looks like this: <?php class Site extends CI_Controller { var $task1; var $tasks = array( "task1" => NULL, "date1" => 0, "date2" => 0, "diff" => 0); function __construct() { parent::__construct(); include 'timetask.php'; $this->task1 = new TimeTask("create"); } function index() { $this->tasks['task1'] = $this->task1->getTask(); $this->tasks['diff'] = $this->task1->getTimeDiff(); if($this->tasks['diff'] == NULL) { $this->tasks['diff'] = 0; } $this->load->view('usability_test', $this->tasks); } function origIndex() { $this->task1->setDate1(new DateTime()); $this->tasks['date1'] = $this->task1->getDate1()->getTimestamp(); $data = array(); if($q = $this->site_model->get_records()) { $data['records'] = $q; } $this->load->view('options_view', $data); } function create() { $this->task1->setDate2(new DateTime()); $this->tasks['date2'] = $this->task1->getDate2()->getTimestamp(); $data = array( 'author' => $this->input->post('author'), 'title' => $this->input->post('title'), 'contents' => $this->input->post('contents') ); $this->site_model->add_record($data); $this->index(); } I only included create to keep it short. Then I also have the TimeTask class, that actually another StackOverflow so kindly helped me with: <?php class TimeTask { private $task; /** * @var DateTime */ private $date1, $date2; function __construct($currTask) { $this->task = $currTask; } public function getTimeDiff() { $hasDiff = $this->date1 && $this->date2; if ($hasDiff) { return $this->date2->getTimestamp() - $this->date1->getTimestamp(); } else { return NULL; } } public function __toString() { return (string) $this->getTimeDiff(); } /** * @return \DateTime */ public function getDate1() { return $this->date1; } /** * @param \DateTime $date1 */ public function setDate1(DateTime $date1) { $this->date1 = $date1; } /** * @return \DateTime */ public function getDate2() { return $this->date2; } /** * @param \DateTime $date2 */ public function setDate2(DateTime $date2) { $this->date2 = $date2; } /** * @return get current task */ public function getTask() { return $this->task; } } ?> I don't think posting the views is necessary for the question but here is atleast how the links are made. ...and... id", $row-title); ? Now there's no error in the code but it doesn't do what I expect of it and the reason I assume why is because that each time a function of the script is called via a new page it is NOT the same instance of the script called previously so any previously created objects are no longer there. This confuses me and leaves me quite unsure of how to implement this gracefully. Some ways I would guess of how to do this is by passing the necessary data through the URL or have data saved in a database and retrieve it later to compare the times. What would be a recommended way to do, not just this, but anything that needs previously created data? Also, am I correct to think that a script is only 'alive' for one webpage at a time? Thanks!

  • How do I expand my <div> to properly fit more vertical content?

  • show hidden div tag from another page

    - by neueweblernen
    I'm trying to link to an all-inclusive FAQ page from various pages. The answers are contained in tags, nested within a line item of an unordered list housed by categories. The FAQ page has the following categories: Practical Nurse Exam Online Renewal Practice Hours etc. Under Practical Nurse Exam, there are sub categories, subjects, with questions below in tags that expand onClick. (e.g. Examination Day, Exam Results, etc.) Let's say I'm on a different page called Registration and there's a link to the FAQs for Exam Results. I'm able to link to the page and included the hashtag on the anchor or Exam Results, but it does not expand the subcategory. I've read this thread but it didn't work for me. Please help! The code is below: <script type="text/javascript"> function toggle(Info,pic) { var CState = document.getElementById(Info); CState.style.display = (CState.style.display != 'block') ? 'block' : 'none'; } window.onload = function() { var hash = window.location.hash; // would be "#div1" or something if(hash != "") { var id = hash.substr(1); // get rid of # document.getElementById(id).style.display = 'block'; } } </script> <style type="text/css"> .FAQ { cursor:hand; cursor:pointer; } .FAA { display:none; padding-left:20px; text-indent:-20px; } #FAQlist li { list-style-type: none; } #FAQlist ul { margin-left:0px; } headingOne{ font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color:#66BBFF; font-size:20px; font-weight:bold;} </style> Here's the body (part of it anyway) <headingOne class="FAQ" onClick="toggle('CPNRE', this)">PRACTICAL NURSE EXAM</headingOne> <div class="FAA" id="CPNRE"> <h3><a name="applying">Applying to write the CPNRE</a></h3> <ul id="FAQlist" style="width:450px;"> <li class="FAQ"> <p onclick="toggle('faq1',this)"> <strong>Q: How much does it cost to write the exam?</strong></p> <div class="FAA" id="faq1"> <b>A.</b> In 2013, the cost for the first exam writing is $600.00 which includes the interim license fee. • javascript won't execute nested for loop

    - by mcdwight6
    thanks in advance for all your help! i'm fairly new to javascript, but i have a fairly strong background in java, so i thought i would try it out on this project i'm working on. essentially, what i'm trying to do is read data from an xml file and create the html code for the page i'm making. i used the script from w3schools found here. I've altered it and gotten it to pull the data from my own xml and even to do the more basic generation of the html code i need. Here's the html i'm using inside <script> tags: var s = swDoc.getElementsByTagName("planet"); var plShowsArr = s[i].getElementsByTagName("show"); var plGamesArr = s[i].getElementsByTagName("videoGame"); for (i=0;i<s.length;i++) { // test section all works document.write("<div><table border = \"1\">"); document.write("<tr><td>"+ s[i].getElementsByTagName("showText")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue + "</td><td>" + s[i].getElementsByTagName("showUrl")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue + "</td></tr>"); document.write("<tr><td>" + s[i].getElementsByTagName("gameText")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue + "</td><td>" + s[i].getElementsByTagName("gameUrl")[0].childNodes[0].nodeValue + "</td></tr>"); document.write("</tr></table></div>"); // end test section document.write("<div class=\"appearances-row\"><ol class=\"shows\">shows list"); for(j=0;j<plShows.length;j++){ document.write("nested for"); var showUrl = s[i].getElementsByTagName("showUrl")[j].childNodes[0].nodeValue; var showText = s[i].getElementByTagName("showText")[j].childNodes[0].nodeValue; document.write("<li><a href=\""+showUrl+"\">"+showText+"</a></li>"); } the code breaks at the nested for loop at the end, where it finished the document.write and prints "shows list" to the page, but then never gets to the document.write inside. if it helps, the xml contains a list of planets from the star wars universe organized like this: <planets> <planet> <planetName>planet</planetName> <description>some text</description> <appearances> <show> <showUrl>url</showUrl> <showText>hyperlink text</showText> </show> <videoGame> <gameUrl>url</gameUrl> <gameText>hyperlink text</gameText> </videoGame> </appearances> <locationsOfInterest> <location>location name</location> </locationsOfInterest> <famousCharactersRelatedTo> <character>a character</character> </famousCharactersRelatedTo> <externalLinks> <link> <linkUrl>url</linkUrl> <linkText>hyperlink text</linkText> </link> </externalLinks> </planet>

  • Why is IE not adhering to my column widths?

    - by Trent
    This has been driving my crazy trying to solve Code: http://pastebin.com/rqyw35jG First of all, I'm rendering in standards mode. I have a table in IE, with width=100%, and all columns in the table with specified widths except the last column. The intended behaviour is for IE to size the final column so it stretches to the page. This more or less works. However; Certain conditions seem to break the table widths and cause IE to go and size the table however it pleases. The table contains a row which is merged across all columns AND This merged row contains enough text to fill the whole cell AND Enough text is entered into one of the cells whose column had unspecified width, causing the text to wrap. When this 3 conditions occur, all the columns move slightly. The text still wraps and you wouldn't normally notice that the columns are the wrong size unless you measure them, or compare the page to a version without wrapped text. Is this even supposed to happen in standards mode? Code: <%@ Page Language="VB" %> <%@ Import Namespace="Microsoft.SharePoint.Client" %> <%@ Import namespace="System.Data" %> <%@ Import Namespace="System.Data.SQLClient" %> <script runat="server"> Protected Sub Page_Load(sender As Object, e As System.EventArgs) End Sub </script> <% %> <!DOCTYPE html /> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server"> <title></title> </head> <body> <table style="width:100%;"> <tr> <td style="width:500px;">egqwgw gqgqwgqg qwgqgqg qgwgqgqg qwgqgg</td> <td style="width:500px;">gqgqwgqg gqwgqgqgq gqgqgqg qgg</td> <td>If too much text is entered into this column, the column sizes will begin to change. wehwehweh hwehwh whhwhwh hwehwhwh</td> </tr> <tr> <td>a gqwgqwg gqgqw </td><td>gqgqgqg gqgqg</td><td></td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3">Columns only move if text on this line is filling out the whole width of the page. gqwgqwggqg qgqgqwgqg qgqwgqgqg gqgwqgqg gqgqgqgqg qgqgqgqg gqgggqg qgwgqgqg gqgqgqwgwg qgqwgqgqgq gqgwgwgqg gqgwgq gqwgwgqgqwg qgwgqgqgqwg qwgqwgqgqg qgwgqgqqg gqwgqwgqwgwqg gqgwgqgwg qwgqwgqgqgq qwgqgqgqg gwqgqgqg qggqwgqg qggwqgqg </td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>

For many Web pages this lack of processing capability is not a great drawback; the pages are simply displays of static, unchanging, information for which no manipulation by the user is required. Still, there are cases where the ability to respond to user actions and the availability of processing methods can be a great asset. For this particular C# code snippet: HTMLDocumentClass doc = new HTMLDocumentClass(); doc.write(new object[] { responseFromServer }); doc.close(); I get this error: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {25336920-03F9-11CF-8FD0-00AA00686F13} failed due to the following error: 80070583. I tracked down the CLSID in the registry, and it turned out to be mshtml.dll. I also noticed that the version I actually have is version 7.0.6000.17023, and the registry version is listed as Version=7.0.3300.0. The error code 80070583 means "Class does not exist"; interestingly, I've also gotten an error from the same program with error code 80070582, or "Class already exists". What does it all mean? Edit: Since there are no answers, I ended up working around the problem, by ditching MSHTML and using HTML Agility Pack to parse HTML. How do I close this question?

  • Problem printing google maps printing and using 'page-break-before' in IE8

    - by murdoch
    Hi, I'm having an annoying problem trying to get an html page with a google map on it to print correctly, I have a google map with an <h2> above it all wrapped in a div and the div is set to 'page-break-before:always;' in the css so that the map and its heading always sits on a new page. The problem is that in IE8 only i can always see a large portion of the map rendered on the previous page when printed, also the part of the map that is visible on the previous page is that which is outside the visible bounds of the map. HTML: <div id="description"> <h2>Description</h2> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> <p>Some paragraph of text</p> </div> <div id="map"> <h2>Location</h2> <div id="mapHolder"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> // ... javascript to create the google map </script> </div> CSS: #map { page-break-before:always; } Here is a screen grab of what it renders like in IE8 http://twitpic.com/1vtwrd It works fine in every other browser i have tried including IE7 so i'm a bit lost, has anyone any ideas of any tricks to stop this from happening?

  • Turning XSLT into a simple HTML snippet.

    - by jaasum
    http://drp.ly/yeAex <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <xsl:stylesheet version="1.0" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform"> <xsl:template match="/data/tour/entry"> <img src="{filename}"/> <h2>{heading}</h2> {description} </xsl:template> </xsl:stylesheet> Here is the code I am working with. I am a newbie to XSLT and I suppose I am not understanding how it transforms my XML into HTML entirely. This snippet of code I plan on loading via AJAX, so I really all I need it to output is a blank html document consisting only of these three items. I realize I am omitting the xsl:output tag and that is because I really don't understand how I can get this to just simply match that information to my tags in my xml without adding , tags etc. All it outputs is a string of text in an html document.
