  • unit testing of installer

    - by Alien01
What is the best process where code is checkedin by developers, installer is created by build engineer and release to QA to test the installer. Should the installer be release to QA without unit testing by Dev. If dev do some changes then they should wait until QA to report bugs.Or if installer first given to dev for unit testing and once they signoff then only it should be release to QA?

  • Can a signed Java Applet/Web Start manipulate content in a cross-site IFRAME?

    - by etoleb
Is it possible for a signed Java Applet or Web Start app to write to the DOM of an IFRAME under a different domain? Does the fact that they're a signed applet/javaws allow them to ignore browsers' standard cross-browser security? If this does work, how well is it supported across the major browsers? Thanks! EDIT: My motivation is to add a browser plugin-like tool to third-party websites I don't control. It's not required that I use Java at all---any ideas or suggestions are encouraged.

  • Whats the difference in GET and POST encryption?

    - by Dju
What is the difference when encrypting GET and POST data? Thx for answer Edit: i need to write it more specific. When https-SSL encrypts both of this methods, what is the difference in way browser does this. Which parts are encrypted and which are not? I somewhere read, that the destination url is not encrypted in POST, is that true? If it is true and same in GET, where are all the parameters?

  • 2D platformer gravity physics with slow-motion

    - by DD
    Hi all, I fine tuned my 2d platformer physics and when I added slow-motion I realized that it is messed up. The problem I have is that for some reason the physics still depends on framerate. So when I scale down time elapsed, every force is scaled down as well. So the jump force is scaled down, meaning in slow-motion, character jumps vertically smaller height and gravity force is scaled down as well so the character goes further in the air without falling. I'm sending update function in hopes that someone can help me out here (I separated vertical (jump, gravity) and walking (arbitrary walking direction on a platform - platforms can be of any angle) vectors): characterUpdate:(float)dt { //Compute walking velocity walkingAcceleration = direction of platform * walking acceleration constant * dt; initialWalkingVelocity = walkingVelocity; if( isWalking ) { if( !isJumping ) walkingVelocity = walkingVelocity + walkingAcceleration; else walkingVelocity = walkingVelocity + Vector( walking acceleration constant * dt, 0 ); } // Compute jump/fall velocity if( !isOnPlatform ) { initialVerticalVelocity = verticalVelocity; verticalVelocity = verticalVelocity + verticalAcceleration * dt; } // Add walking velocity position = position + ( walkingVelocity + initialWalkingVelocity ) * 0.5 * dt; //Add jump/fall velocity if not on a platform if( !isOnPlatform ) position = position + ( verticalVelocity + initialVerticalVelocity ) * 0.5 * dt; verticalAcceleration.y = Gravity * dt; }

  • Strategy for developing a multi function asp.net web application

    - by user247023
I'm about to start a new project and want some advice on how to implement. I need a web application which contains a booking module for reserving timeslots, and a time management module which will enable employees to clock in / clock out. If I am writing an update to the time managment module, I don't want to disrupt the booking engine availability by releasing a new solution containing both modules. to make things more difficult, there is some shared functionality like common users, roles and security. Here's a suggestion I've gotten, which sounds a bit cruddy, but may be functional. Write a 'container' web application which consists of basically a frame, and authentication / security features. This then has links which, will load the 2 independantly built and released web applications into the frame. I can see that say, if I wanted to update the time management module, I would only need to build and release this separately, and the rest of the solution would be 'untouched' Any better alternatives?

  • Making a Javascript game, Having a little problem with scrolling.

    - by RobertWHurst
I have a #wrapper div and a #grid div nested inside. currently I can scroll around with this function below. getCursorPos : function(){ // set the empty cursor object var cursor = {}; //get the offset from the left of the grid container var grid //offset loop $(function getCursorPos(){ grid = $('#grid').offset(); setTimeout(getCursorPos, game.loopSpeed); }); //continuosly get the position var that = this; $(document).mousemove(function(e){ //if game mode is menu exit if(game.mode === 'menu'){ return; } // NOTE: this looks a litle over done but don't remove anything // its like this because javascript uses floating points // and so in order to line up to the nearest hunderedth I // had to make the cursor and div position intergers by // muliplying by ten. one the two are added I reduced them // and rounded them. that.x = Math.round(((e.pageX * 10) - (grid.left * 10)) / 10); that.y = Math.round(((e.pageY * 10) - (grid.top * 10)) / 10); }); }, the problem is that the mouse coordinates only update when the mouse moves. is there any way to get the coordinates with out moving the mouse?

  • please we need php replacement on linux.

    - by diamandiev
PHP is just awful but atm the only cheap server technology available. If you want free hosting you are stuck with php. If you want cheap hosting too. Windows hosting is like 3x the pice. It's amazing how much effort people put into executing a task in php while they could this 10 times faster and better with a real language/server platform (asp.net). Just my 2 cents.

Here is my code private void btnGo_Click(System.Object sender, System.EventArgs e) { this.Cursor = Cursors.WaitCursor; Application.DoEvents(); // Load the images. Bitmap bm1 = (Bitmap) (Image.FromFile(txtFile1.Text)); Bitmap bm2 = (Bitmap) (Image.FromFile(txtFile2.Text)); // Make a difference image. int wid = Math.Min(bm1.Width, bm2.Width); int hgt = Math.Min(bm1.Height, bm2.Height); Bitmap bm3 = new Bitmap(wid, hgt); // Create the difference image. bool are_identical = true; int r1; int g1; int b1; int r2; int g2; int b2; int r3; int g3; int b3; Color eq_color = Color.White; Color ne_color = Color.Transparent; for (int x = 0; x <= wid - 1; x++) { for (int y = 0; y <= hgt - 1; y++) { if (bm1.GetPixel(x, y).Equals(bm2.GetPixel(x, y))) { bm3.SetPixel(x, y, eq_color); } else { bm1.SetPixel(x, y, ne_color); are_identical = false; } } } // Display the result. picResult.Image = bm1; Bitmap Logo = new Bitmap(picResult.Image); Logo.MakeTransparent(Logo.GetPixel(1, 1)); picResult.Image = (Image)Logo; this.Cursor = Cursors.Default; if ((bm1.Width != bm2.Width) || (bm1.Height != bm2.Height)) { are_identical = false; } if (are_identical) { MessageBox.Show("The images are identical"); } else { MessageBox.Show("The images are different"); } //bm1.Dispose() // bm2.Dispose() }

  • C++: Platform independent game lib?

    - by Martijn Courteaux
Hi, I want to write a serious 2D game, and it would be nice if I have a version for Linux and one for Windows (and eventually OSX). Java is fantastic because it is platform independent. But Java is too slow to write a serious game. So, I thought to write it in C++. But C++ isn't very cross-platform friendly. I can find game libraries for Windows and libraries for Linux, but I'm searching one that I can use for both, by recompiling the source on a Windows platform and on a Linux platform. Are there engines for this or is this idea irrelevant? Isn't it that easy (recompiling)? Any advice and information about C++ libraries would be very very very appreciated!

  • Multiple items with PayPal button and PHP

    - by user146780
I'm building a website where I basically want my checkout to work like this website: http://www.solutionkaizen.com/html/boutique.php It allows you to enter the quantity for each item and then press a button which brings you to PayPal and lists how many Products you have. On PayPal's website, all the info I found seems to lead to me needing a shopping cart. If this is absolutely necessary, how could I implement that? Thanks

  • Good book(s) for MMORPG design & implementation?

    - by mawg
I am a long time professional C/C++ programmer (mostly embedded systems) and a hobbyist windows & php hacker. Can anyone recommend a book(s) specifically aimed at designing and (hopefully) implementing an MMORPG? I don't need general how to design or how to code books. Maybe a really good generic games book, but I am not interested in 1st person shooters, I want to know what it takes to implement an MMORPG. Good books, maybe also good URLs. Thanks just searching eBay and Amazon threw up a whole slew of books. Amazon's customer reviews give me an idea of how good they are, and the overview tells me what areas they cover

  • Testing for security vulnerabilities on web applications

    - by Moak
A lot of companies use CMS software that updates on the regular, often they are security fixes, implying that the previous version have security vulnerabilities. But most clients never upgrade this, or even the CMS has been modified so that an update would break the site. Are there sites that document these exploits, and instruct how to test for them? Or does this information not even get published? (in order not to have people try to exploit them) Also is there a generic php/js based check list to prevent hack attempts? I know about SQL injections and XSS, but I'm sure that there are more threats out there. Peace

  • Proxy object references in MVC code

    - by krystan honour
Hi there, I am just figuring out best practice with MVC now I have a project where we have chosen to use it in anger. My question is. If creating a list view which is bound to an IEnumerable is this bad practise? Would it be better to seperate the code generated by the WCF Service reference into a datastructure which essentially holds the same data but abstracts further from the service, meaning that the UI is totally unaware of the service implementation beneath. or do people just bind to the proxy object types and have done with it ? My personal feeling is to create an abstraction but this seems to violate the DRY principle.

  • JSP template inheritance

    - by Ryan
Coming from a background in Django, I often use "template inheritance", where multiple templates inherit from a common base. Is there an easy way to do this in JSP? If not, is there an alternative to JSP that does this (besides Django on Jython that is :) base template <html> <body> {% block content %} {% endblock %} </body> <html> basic content {% extends "base template" %} {% block content %} <h1>{{ content.title }} <-- Fills in a variable</h1> {{ content.body }} <-- Fills in another variable {% endblock %} Will render as follows (assuming that conten.title is "Insert Title Here", and content.body is "Insert Body Here") <html> <body> <h1>Insert title Here <-- Fills in a variable</h1> Insert Body Here <-- Fills in another variable </body> <html>

  • Any good lightweight date/time picker for web with good UI ?

    - by nexneo
Few wishes, If it is jQuery based, best. If it focus easy UI then eye candy, better. If it is date and time picker both, good. Edit: I should have mentioned , I already looked most options available that I can found using google. Problem is not a single date+time picker is part of official jquery-ui project so some are for old jquery version. some have ugly UI choices. One which have somewhat good UI seems buggy.

  • Cookie blocked/not saved in IFRAME in Internet Explorer

    - by Piskvor
I have two websites, let's say they're example.com and anotherexample.net. On anotherexample.net/page.html, I have an IFRAME SRC="http://example.com/someform.asp". That IFRAME displays a form for the user to fill out and submit to http://example.com/process.asp. When I open the form ("someform.asp") in its own browser window, all works well. However, when I load someform.asp as an IFRAME in IE 6 or IE 7, the cookies for example.com are not saved. In Firefox this problem doesn't appear. For testing purposes, I've created a similar setup on http://newmoon.wz.cz/test/page.php . example.com uses cookie-based sessions (and there's nothing I can do about that), so without cookies, process.asp won't execute. How do I force IE to save those cookies? Results of sniffing the HTTP traffic: on GET /someform.asp response, there's a valid per-session Set-Cookie header (e.g. Set-Cookie: ASPKSJIUIUGF=JKHJUHVGFYTTYFY), but on POST /process.asp request, there is no Cookie header at all. Edit3: some AJAX+serverside scripting is apparently capable to sidestep the problem, but that looks very much like a bug, plus it opens a whole new set of security holes. I don't want my applications to use a combination of bug+security hole just because it's easy. Edit: the P3P policy was the root cause, full explanation below.
