• Good links somehow being converted to ones with a PHP redirect (not a virus)

  This has happened to links we put on web pages and in emails. We might put www.oursite.org/work/ but when I view source it shows up as webmail.ourhosting.ca/hwebmail/services/go.php?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.oursite.org%2F%2work%2F This ends up at the webmail login page for our web host. But only some of the people who click the link get the login page; others go directly to the original page we intended. We don't want it to go to the webmail login page, nobody needs to log in to our web site. This occurs for links to pages on our site, but also to links to other sites that we put in emails or in posts. It seems to be browser independent as well as e-mail client independent as we variously have used Firefox and Chrome as well as MS Outlook and Thunderbird. I've tried to resolve the issue with our webhost but they keep telling me they don't support our browser, or our email client (i.e., they don't understand the issue). At the moment, our only option is to try another web host just to get rid of their login. Any ideas about what's going on?

• Wireless not functional

  I am a complete newcomer to Ubuntu. Today I installed Ubuntu 12.04 onto an 3 or 4 year old laptop - an HP DV2221. Install went fine, except that I can't get the wireless card to operate. I see that there are drivers installed (Broadcom STA wireless) and it says they are activated, but the wireless light on the body of the computer is lit as orange, when it should be blue, and if I disconnect the Ethernet wire, there is no ability to get onto Firefox. I've looked at some of the similar questions on this site, as well as Googling the issue - mostly, I guess I don't understand how to navigate or do some of the fixes recommended - I'm fairly adept technologically around Windows, but know zilch about Linux and how to perform some of the fixes - so, if possible, please tell me how I get to the menus needed to rectify the situation.

• GRUB not showing /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader

  A few days ago I accidentally deleted Ubuntu partition using GParted. I thought Windows 7 would start normally, but I got a "grub-rescue" screen instead. Then, I recreated a partition for Ubuntu (/dev/sda6) and reinstalled it. Ubuntu starts properly now; but GRUB shows me /dev/sda2 is Windows Recovery System (WRS), what is false, since /dev/sda1 is WRS and /dev/sda2 is Windows 7 Loader. I booted using Windows 7 disk and tried to correct this problem automatically and by bootrec.exe /fixboot and /fixmbr, and nothing is able to fix my problem. Yet, Windows (disk) says there is no OS in my computer. What should I do? Will I have to erase my hard disk to get Windows 7 back?

• Why circles are not created if small?

  I have changed the scale to my own and now I cant create any object, including circle, if it is of the size which is normal for my scale. I am to create big object first and then modify it to smaller size. Looks like minimal size protection is set somewhere. Where? UPDATE While creating a circle, if I drag for 0.04m circle disappears after drag end. If I drag for 0.08m circle also disappears. If I drag for more than 0.1m, circle persists after drag end. How to set so that it persist after 0.01m too?

• Drawing Grid in 3D view - Mathematically calculate points and draw line between them (Not working)

  I'm trying to draw a simple grid from a starting point and expand it to a size. Doing this mathematically and drawing the lines between each point, but since the "DrawPrimitives(LineList)" doesn't work the way it should work, And this method can't even draw lines between four points to create a simple Rectangle, so how does this method work exactly? Some sort of coordinate system: [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.0][ ][0.0][ ][2.0][ ] [ ][2.1][1.1][ ][1.1][2.1][ ] [ ][2.2][ ][0.2][ ][2.2][ ] [ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ] I've checked with my method and it's working as it should. It calculates all the points to form a grid. This way I should be able to create Points where to draw line right? This way, if I supply the method with Size = 2 it starts at 0,0 and works it through all the corners (2,2) on each side. So, I have the positions of each point. How do I draw lines between these? VerticeCount = must be number of Points in this case, right? So, tell me, if I can't supply this method with Point A, Point B, Point C, Point D to draw a four vertice rectangle (Point A - B - C - D) - how do I do it? How do I even begin to understand it? As far as I'm concered, that's a "Line list" or a list of points where to draw lines. Can anyone explain what I'm missing? I wish to do this mathematically so I can create a a custom grid that can be altered.

• Why would anacron not be running?

  I have a Ubuntu system that has anacron installed. However I'm pretty sure it's not running. It's not running the commands in /etc/cron.daily to rotate the syslog files (I'm using sysklog, which has its own rotating log method, not using logrotate). The last time the logs were rotated were in October 2009. /var/spool/anacron/cron.daily exists and the contents are 20091015. AFAIR we had a power outage then, and everything rebooted. How can I debug anacron? How can I see why it's not running? My first instinct is to look for /var/log/anacron, but that's not there. How can I fix it to make it run again?

• Website hacked, cpanel password not encrypted?

  Yesterday I found out that all the websites that are hosted on my webhosting site were hacked. I tried to change my password, and unbelievably, I COULD SEE my password there. This means my password is able to be decrypted. I asked customer support, and they say, its normal, CPanel saves the password like that. Is it true? I mean, cpanel password able to be decrypted? They blame me because my wordpress version is out of date. But 2 of my website are on different platforms. One made by CI and one by Wordpress, and all are hacked. Is this hosting reliable?

• BCM 4311 Wireless Not Working on 11.10-Tried All Forum Suggestions

  Hi I've spent hours trying all the suggestions listed on Forums on this problem all over the internet and I still can't get my wireless working. It's very discouraging because it might force me to go back to Windows which I hate. Can someone help? Perhaps I can give you some information to help identify what the issue is? b43 isn't coming up in my list of drivers...just Broadcom STA which doesn't work. • PHP NOT EXECUTING IN PHP-FPM AND NGINX INSTALLATION

  I am trying to set up nginx server to run a php app in debian. I followed this tutorial among others. Most seems the same. My recent configuration is based on the link above. When I try to run this php script, <?php phpinfo(); ?> I get the same output on the browser instead of php info result. Kindly someone help me figure out where I went wrong. • web page does not display properly

  Hi, I have problem with one my conputer, it does not display any website properly. The background clouds on some websites do not show up, the layout of some websites are not properly displayed. And it only happen to only one computer. OS: Windows XP IE: 7 (not working on either IE7 or IE 8) I have tried to add my website as trusted site still that site is not working properly. I also tried Internet Options Advanced ... Check Show images, smart image dithering, enable visual styles in button and controls on webwage. Is there anything else I could do to fix the problem? • Wired card not connecting after trying to connect

  I have an Ubuntu 12.10 PC. When I plug in my internet cable it starts connecting and after a minute it says it can't connect. I tried different cables but nothing works. Wlan works. I think it's the network driver but I don't know how to install/update it. • Leg animation not working

  I am making a simple animation in XNA C# of a leg moving. This is the logic code for the thigh. It is meant to swing from 25' to 335'. However instead, it hits a point and then keeps on spinning in the other direction. • Ubuntu 3D does not work on Dell system with a AMD Radeon HD 6470M

  I am running 64 bit Ubuntu on Dell with 1GB graphic card. I login with "Ubuntu" hoping to see Unity 3d but it doesn't. Unity 2D runs instead. when I type in echo "$DESKTOP_SESSION" it confirms the Unity-2D. I've checked the System info that shows like : The graphics row shows itself as empty. SO I've presumed that the graphic drivers aren't detected and hence I went to Unity- Additional Drivers and installed the fglrx driver that the UI has suggested. Even after installing so, the graphics part in System info details shows nothing and still Unity 2D runs in spite of all the effort. Please help! How can I get my Unity 3D back? • wireless not showing up in network manager applet.

  there is only the wired connection option available when the menu drops down. i have installed a belkin wireless g card for my desktop. it has been used before on this version of ubuntu 10.10, but after upgrading it shows only wired networks. enable networking and enable notifications have both been ticked. still only wired networks coming. im using ubuntu 10.10 maverick meerkat on my desktop comp and im an absolute begginer at ubuntu. can some one please help me re enable wireless on my comp?

• mplayer does not disable screensaver

  so i have upgraded to Ubuntu 12.10 and i installed smplayer from the repositories. The thing is when i play a movie (even in full screen) the screen saver comes up.   I have a few keywords where my website is high ranking(2nd and 3rd result). For instance, I have 3 blog posts covering a certain kind of modem. Is it common for search engines to consider a website popular in a "category"? For instance, if I was the first result for "foobar" with one page, and then added another separate page which mentioned "foobar"(and maybe a link from the original page), would a search engine prioritize this separate page when compared to a completely separate website with a page with the same content?

• disk not accessible

  i formatted my hard drive yesterday and it was working well even after the formatting. But when I restarted my system again , is is showing that the space is alloted to my files but they are inaccessible. I have even tried to unhide the files and folders, if they got hidden somehow. But nothing works. the hard drive is being shown empty but the properties are saying that it still conatins the data : http://imgur.com/ObjTE in the image, it is showing that the directory has only 1 file of size:4.8 kbps but the space being used by the drive is 11.6 GB. do suggest some solution.
