  • SQL Timstamp Function

    - by harrison
Is there any difference between these two queries? select * from tbl where ts < '9999-12-31-24.00.00.000000'; and select * from tbl where ts < timestamp('9999-12-31-24.00.00.000000'); When is the timestamp function required? Is there a difference in performance?

  • MS SQL 2008 and MySQL Daily Backups

    - by Tyler
Is there a quick and easy way to backup both MS SQL 2008 and MySQL, all their databases? Right now I have a batch script that runs, but I have to manually add a database each and every time, and I'm sick of maintaining it. So I want to set it up to backup all MS SQL and then all MySQL, I dont care if its two different solutions, just want the ability to backup all the databases without having to type them in. Thank you.

  • Save All Values of Database to Text File?

    - by cam
I was wondering if there was a way to extract all the values of a column, and then save each value into separate text files (labeled ANYTHING, 1-100 works fine). I know how to do this through another language, but I'm using SQL Server 2008 with Microsoft SQL Server Manager and it would save me some time from figuring out how to do it through C#.

    Found this solution to get substring after slash () character DECLARE @st1 varchar(10) SET @st1 = 'MYTEST\aftercompare' SELECT @st1 ,SUBSTRING(@st1, CHARINDEX('\', @st1) + 1, LEN(@st1)) http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/5c3a5e2c-54fc-43dd-b12c-1a1f6784d7d8/tsql-get-substring-after-slash-character But is there a way to get substring after second slash or even more? DECLARE @st1 varchar(50) --Added more slashes SET @st1 = 'MYTEST\aftercompare\slash2\slash3\slash4' SELECT @st1 --This part would need some work --,SUBSTRING(@st1, CHARINDEX('\', @st1) + 1, LEN(@st1)) And getting only the substring between the slashes. Values: [1] "aftercompare" - [2] "slash2" - [3] "slash3" - [4] "slash4"

I am looking for a reference for a SQL Server DBA who has to come up to speed on basic Oracle 11 DBA tasks: backup, recovery, user administration, etc. There seems to be some material on the web for the reverse: Oracle - SQL Server, but the only potentially useful resource I have found in a few searches is yet to be published: http://www.amazon.com/Oracle-Database-Administration-Microsoft-Osborne/dp/0071744312 Can anyone provide references to something currently available?
