  • binary quicksort

    - by davit-datuashvili
    hi i want implement Binary quicksort algorithm from robert sedgewick book it looks like this public class quickb{ public static final int bitsword=32; public static void quicksortB(int a[],int l,int r,int d){ int i=l; int j=r-1; if (r<=l || d>bitsword) return ; while (j!=i) { while (digit(a[i],d)==0 && (i<j)) i++; while (digit(a[j],d)==1 && (j>i)) j++; int t=a[i]; a[i]=a[j]; a[j]=t; } if (digit(a[r-1],d)== 0) j++; quicksortB(a,l,j-1,d+1); quicksortB(a,j,r,d+1); } public static void main(String[]args){ int a[]=new int[]{4,7,3,9,8,2}; quicksortB(a,0,a.length-1,0); for (int i=0;i<a.length;i++){ System.out.println(a[i]); } } public static int digit(int m,int d){ return (m>>d)&1; } } but it show me error: java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 6 at quickb.quicksortB(quickb.java:13) at quickb.main(quickb.java:32) what is wrong?

  • startup Error for Zend Server CE

    - by Jamison
    Hello! I've got a strange startup error for Zend Server CE - it's probably easy to fix, but I don't have much experience with Zend Server! I'm running the latest OSX 10.6.6 and the latest Zend Server CE for Mac. When I run the "start" command from the command line, here is what I get: /usr/local/zend/bin/apachectl start [OK] spawn-fcgi: child spawned successfully: PID: 4206 /usr/local/zend/bin/shell_functions.rc: line 133: 4210 Bus error $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 /usr/local/zend/bin/shell_functions.rc: line 133: 4211 Bus error $WATCHDOG -u $WD_UID -g $WD_GID -s $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 Starting Zend Server GUI [Lighttpd] [FAILED] /usr/local/zend/bin/lighttpdctl.sh: line 46: 4212 Bus error $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY Starting MySQL SUCCESS! /usr/local/zend/bin/shell_functions.rc: line 133: 4304 Bus error $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 /usr/local/zend/bin/shell_functions.rc: line 133: 4425 Bus error $WATCHDOG -u $WD_UID -g $WD_GID -s $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 Starting Java bridge [FAILED] /usr/local/zend/bin/java_bridge.sh: line 39: 4426 Bus error $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY Zend Server started... The challenge is that ZEND SERVER wont open the GUI with this error, and seemingly I can click on Zend Server in the Applications folder and it opens for a second and immediately closes. I've made sure that Web Sharing is turned off to avoid conflicts, and I've run Disk Utility from my recovery disk to make sure there are no file system errors. Here is what the lines that are referenced in the errors have in terms of code: shell_functions.rc: (starting on line 132 - the error message says line 133...): launch() { if [ -z "$DEBUG" ]; then exec 3>/dev/null 4>&3 else exec 3>&1 4>&2 fi $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 RET=$? if [ $RET -eq 0 ];then $ECHO_CMD "$BINARY watchdog is up and running.. ${OK_COLOR}[OK]${T_RESET}" return $RET else #$WATCHDOG -u $WD_UID -g $WD_GID -s $BINARY >> "$PREFIX/logs/watchdog_$BINARY.log" 2>&1 $WATCHDOG -u $WD_UID -g $WD_GID -s $BINARY 1>&3 2>&4 report $? "Starting" fi } _kill() { $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY > /dev/null 2>&1 if [ $? -eq 1 ];then $ECHO_CMD "$BINARY is not running" else $WATCHDOG -t $BINARY > /dev/null 2>&1 report $? "Stopping" fi } lighttpdctl.sh: (starting on line 45 - the error message says line 46...): status() { $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY } case "$1" in start) start status ;; stop) stop ;; restart) stop sleep 1 start ;; status) status ;; *) usage exit 1 esac exit $? java_bridge.sh: (starting on line 38 - the error message says line 39...): status() { $WATCHDOG -i $BINARY } Question: "Watchdog" is library in this zend BIN folder - it seems to handle error reporting? all the errors in my start command seem to deal with this Watchdog thing, but I don't know what to do about it... Thanks!

  • Binary Search Tree in C

    - by heapzero
    Hi, I'm a Python guy. Learning C language and I've been trying to implement Binary Search Tree in C. I wrote down the code, and I've been trying from few hours but, not able to get the output as expected. Please help! Please correct me. #include<stdlib.h> #include<stdio.h> typedef int ElementType; typedef struct TreeNode { ElementType element; struct TreeNode *left, *right; } TreeNode; TreeNode *createTree(){ //Create the root of tree TreeNode *tempNode; tempNode = malloc(sizeof(TreeNode)); tempNode->element = 0; tempNode->left = NULL; tempNode->right = NULL; return tempNode; } TreeNode *createNode(ElementType X){ //Create a new leaf node and return the pointer TreeNode *tempNode; tempNode = malloc(sizeof(TreeNode)); tempNode->element = X; tempNode->left = NULL; tempNode->right = NULL; return tempNode; } TreeNode *insertElement(TreeNode *node, ElementType X){ //insert element to Tree if(node==NULL){ return createNode(X); } else{ if(X < node->element){ node->left = insertElement(node->left, X); } else if(X > node->element){ node->right = insertElement(node->right, X); } else if(X == node->element){ printf("Oops! the element is already present in the tree."); } } } TreeNode *displayTree(TreeNode *node){ //display the full tree if(node==NULL){ return; } displayTree(node->left); printf("| %d ", node->element); displayTree(node->right); } main(){ //pointer to root of tree #2 TreeNode *TreePtr; TreeNode *TreeRoot; TreeNode *TreeChild; //Create the root of tree TreePtr = createTree(); TreeRoot = TreePtr; TreeRoot->element = 32; printf("%d\n",TreeRoot->element); insertElement(TreeRoot, 8); TreeChild = TreeRoot->left; printf("%d\n",TreeChild->element); insertElement(TreeRoot, 2); insertElement(TreeRoot, 7); insertElement(TreeRoot, 42); insertElement(TreeRoot, 28); insertElement(TreeRoot, 1); insertElement(TreeRoot, 4); insertElement(TreeRoot, 5); // the output is not as expected :( displayTree(TreeRoot); }

  • Fread binary file dynamic size string [C]

    - by Blackbinary
    I've been working on this assignment, where I need to read in "records" and write them to a file, and then have the ability to read/find them later. On each run of the program, the user can decide to write a new record, or read an old record (either by Name or #) The file is binary, here is its definition: typedef struct{ char * name; char * address; short addressLength, nameLength; int phoneNumber; }employeeRecord; employeeRecord record; The way the program works, it will store the structure, then the name, then the address. Name and address are dynamically allocated, which is why it is necessary to read the structure first to find the size of the name and address, allocate memory for them, then read them into that memory. For debugging purposes I have two programs at the moment. I have my file writing program, and file reading. My actual problem is this, when I read a file I have written, i read in the structure, print out the phone # to make sure it works (which works fine), and then fread the name (now being able to use record.nameLength which reports the proper value too). Fread however, does not return a usable name, it returns blank. I see two problems, either I haven't written the name to the file correctly, or I haven't read it in correctly. Here is how i write to the file: where fp is the file pointer. record.name is a proper value, so is record.nameLength. Also i am writing the name including the null terminator. (e.g. 'Jack\0') fwrite(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); fwrite(record.name,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); fwrite(record.address,sizeof(char),record.addressLength,fp); And i then close the file. here is how i read the file: fp = fopen("employeeRecord","r"); fread(&record,sizeof record,1,fp); printf("Number: %d\n",record.phoneNumber); char *nameString = malloc(sizeof(char)*record.nameLength); printf("\nName Length: %d",record.nameLength); fread(nameString,sizeof(char),record.nameLength,fp); printf("\nName: %s",nameString); Notice there is some debug stuff in there (name length and number, both of which are correct). So i know the file opened properly, and I can use the name length fine. Why then is my output blank, or a newline, or something like that? (The output is just Name: with nothing after it, and program finishes just fine) Thanks for the help.

  • Model Fit of Binary GLM with more than 1 or 2 predictors

I have tried along the lines of Model.matrix and expand.grid, as you would do with glmer, but fail straight away due to the two categorical variables along with factor(attempt)

  • Recommendations for a C++ polymorphic, seekable, binary I/O interface

    - by Trevor Robinson
    I've been using std::istream and ostream as a polymorphic interface for random-access binary I/O in C++, but it seems suboptimal in numerous ways: 64-bit seeks are non-portable and error-prone due to streampos/streamoff limitations; currently using boost/iostreams/positioning.hpp as a workaround, but it requires vigilance Missing operations such as truncating or extending a file (ala POSIX ftruncate) Inconsistency between concrete implementations; e.g. stringstream has independent get/put positions whereas filestream does not Inconsistency between platform implementations; e.g. behavior of seeking pass the end of a file or usage of failbit/badbit on errors Don't need all the formatting facilities of stream or possibly even the buffering of streambuf streambuf error reporting (i.e. exceptions vs. returning an error indicator) is supposedly implementation-dependent in practice I like the simplified interface provided by the Boost.Iostreams Device concept, but it's provided as function templates rather than a polymorphic class. (There is a device class, but it's not polymorphic and is just an implementation helper class not necessarily used by the supplied device implementations.) I'm primarily using large disk files, but I really want polymorphism so I can easily substitute alternate implementations (e.g. use stringstream instead of fstream for unit tests) without all the complexity and compile-time coupling of deep template instantiation. Does anyone have any recommendations of a standard approach to this? It seems like a common situation, so I don't want to invent my own interfaces unnecessarily. As an example, something like java.nio.FileChannel seems ideal. My best solution so far is to put a thin polymorphic layer on top of Boost.Iostreams devices. For example: class my_istream { public: virtual std::streampos seek(stream_offset off, std::ios_base::seekdir way) = 0; virtual std::streamsize read(char* s, std::streamsize n) = 0; virtual void close() = 0; }; template <class T> class boost_istream : public my_istream { public: boost_istream(const T& device) : m_device(device) { } virtual std::streampos seek(stream_offset off, std::ios_base::seekdir way) { return boost::iostreams::seek(m_device, off, way); } virtual std::streamsize read(char* s, std::streamsize n) { return boost::iostreams::read(m_device, s, n); } virtual void close() { boost::iostreams::close(m_device); } private: T m_device; };

  • Using SDK 3.2 API in Universal iPhone/iPad application

    - by psychotik
    I have a project configured (I think) to produce Universal binaries. The base SDK is set to 3.2 and the Deployment Target is set to 3.1. Target Device Family is iPhone/iPad and the architecture is armv6 armv7. I had a few questions about how this Universal binary thing really works: 1) When I want to submit an app binary for review, what configuration should I set as the build target? If I set it as "Device - 3.1" I get a warning which says "warning: building with Targeted Device Family" that includes iPad('1,2') requires building with the 3.2 or later SDK". However, if I build with SDK 3.2, will it still run on iPhones with OS 3.1? What's the right configuration for device and architecture (arm6/arm7)? 2) How do I test the scenario above (built with SDK 3.2, but installed on a device running OS 3.1)? If I build with SDK 3.2, when I try to install it on a phone with OS 3.1, I get an error saying that the phone's OS isn't updated. Thanks!

    I am trying to build a Universal binary on MacOSX with g++. However, it doesn't really work. I have tried with this simple dummy code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; int main() { cout << "Hello" << endl; } This works fine: % g++ test.cpp -arch i386 -arch ppc -arch x86_64 -o test % file test test: Mach-O universal binary with 3 architectures test (for architecture i386): Mach-O executable i386 test (for architecture ppc7400): Mach-O executable ppc test (for architecture x86_64): Mach-O 64-bit executable x86_64 However, this does not: % g++ test.cpp -arch i386 -arch ppc -arch x86_64 -arch ppc64 -o test In file included from test.cpp:1: /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/iostream:44:28: error: bits/c++config.h: No such file or directory In file included from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ios:43, from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ostream:45, from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/iostream:45, from test.cpp:1: /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/iosfwd:45:29: error: bits/c++locale.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/iosfwd:46:25: error: bits/c++io.h: No such file or directory In file included from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/bits/ios_base.h:45, from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ios:48, from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ostream:45, from /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/iostream:45, from test.cpp:1: /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/atomicity.h:39:23: error: bits/gthr.h: No such file or directory /usr/include/c++/4.2.1/ext/atomicity.h:40:30: error: bits/atomic_word.h: No such file or directory ... • Callback function and function pointer trouble in C++ for a BST

    - by Brendon C.
    I have to create a binary search tree which is templated and can deal with any data types, including abstract data types like objects. Since it is unknown what types of data an object might have and which data is going to be compared, the client side must create a comparison function and also a print function (because also not sure which data has to be printed). I have edited some C code which I was directed to and tried to template, but I cannot figure out how to configure the client display function. I suspect variable 'tree_node' of class BinarySearchTree has to be passed in, but I am not sure how to do this. For this program I'm creating an integer binary search tree and reading data from a file. Any help on the code or the problem would be greatly appreciated :) Main.cpp #include "BinarySearchTreeTemplated.h" #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <string> using namespace std; /*Comparison function*/ int cmp_fn(void *data1, void *data2) { if (*((int*)data1) > *((int*)data2)) return 1; else if (*((int*)data1) < *((int*)data2)) return -1; else return 0; } static void displayNode() //<--------NEED HELP HERE { if (node) cout << " " << *((int)node->data) } int main() { ifstream infile("rinput.txt"); BinarySearchTree<int> tree; while (true) { int tmp1; infile >> tmp1; if (infile.eof()) break; tree.insertRoot(tmp1); } return 0; } BinarySearchTree.h (a bit too big to format here) http://pastebin.com/4kSVrPhm

  • Is there an algorithm for finding an item that matches certain properties, like a 20 questions game?

    - by lala
    A question about 20 questions games was asked here: However, if I'm understanding it correctly, the answers seem to assume that each question will go down a hierarchal branching tree. A binary tree should work if the game went like this: Is it an animal? Yes. Is it a mammal? Yes. Is it a feline? Yes. Because feline is an example of a mammal and mammal is an example of an animal. But what if the questions go like this? Is it a mammal? Yes. Is it a predator? Yes. Does it have a long nose? No. You can't branch down a tree with those kinds of questions, because there are plenty of predators that aren't mammals. So you can't have your program just narrow it down to mammal and have predators be a subset of mammals. So is there a way to use a binary search tree that I'm not understanding or is there a different algorithm for this problem?

    WinRAR is good at searching for a string in text files(java, xml, txt etc.) within an archive and it supports multiple archive formats. (rar, 7zip, winzip etc) Is there some way to extend this feature (by means of plug-ins etc) to search within Pdf & office files (doc, ppt), Or any other similar unzip tool which has this feature? (Extracting the entire archive & searching using Windows search is always one option)

    Hi lads, I'm building some kind of webapp, and currently the whole thing runs on my machine. I was combing down my logs, and found several "strange" log entries that made me a bit paranoid. Here goes: ***.***.***.** - - [19/Dec/2010:19:47:47 +0100] "\x99\x91g\xca\xa8" 501 1054 **.***.***.** - - [19/Dec/2010:20:14:58 +0100] "<}\xdbe\x86E\x18\xe7\x8b" 501 1054 **.**.***.*** - - [21/Dec/2010:15:28:14 +0100] "J\xaa\x9f\xa3\xdd\x9c\x81\\\xbd\xb3\xbe\xf7\xa6A\x92g'\x039\x97\xac,vC\x8d\x12\xec\x80\x06\x10\x8e\xab7e\xa9\x98\x10\xa7" 501 1054 Bloody hell... what is this?!

  • Running projects from NTFS partition on Ubuntu

    - by tsuby
    I'm dual booting Windows 7/Ubuntu 12.04. I want to run C++/Java projects from a NTFS partition, where I keep generally all my files and projects. I fiddled with the fstab. One time I removed 'noexec', the other I changed it to 'exec'. After that,each time, I remounted the partition and it still didn't work. I tried using sudo mount -o remount,exec /media/mypartition It didn't work either. There was a somewhat similar question already, but it didn't have the proper answer for me or I didn't know how to make it work(note: I am a total newbie with Ubuntu and Linux in general).

  • Pseudo LRU tree algorithm.

    - by patros
    A lot of descriptions of Pseudo LRU algorithms involve using a binary search tree, and setting flags to "point away" from the node you're searching for every time you access the tree. This leads to a reasonable approximation of LRU. However, it seems from the descriptions that all of the nodes deemed LRU would be leaf nodes. Is there a pseudo-LRU algorithm that deals with a static tree that will still perform reasonably well, while determining that non-leaf nodes are suitable LRU candidates?

  • Converting to Base 10

    - by incrediman
    Hi, Let's say I have a string or array which represents a number in base N, N1, where N is a power of 2. Assume the number being represented is larger than the system can handle as an actual number (an int or a double etc). How can I convert that to a decimal string? I'm open to a solution for any base N which satisfies the above criteria (binary, hex, ...).

  • Sending part of byte array over the network using WCF

    - by nikola
    I have a byte array of some binary data that i need to send over the network using WCF and NetTcpBinding. My problem is that i need to send only the part of the array. Is there any way to do this, other than copying that part to a separate array, and sending that one. This extra copying degrades performance, and i would like to avoid it, if possible.

  • pdf read pages to BitmapData in AS3

    - by Hadi
    I’m starting a project in flash AS3 and my objective is to load any pdf file into my flash project and convert all its pages to BitmapData... I am familiar with byteArray and I know I must access the pdf in binary level but I don’t know where to start and how to start. I was hoping if you could give me some insight? Maybe a suggestion to an already library that is doing a similar work? Any idea os appreciated just to get me started...

  • Building elf within Eclipse

    - by BSchlinker
    Hey guys, I'm having trouble building an Elf file within Eclipse. It seems that everytime I build, a PE / portable executable for windows is created. I've gone into the Binary Parser section and checked Elf Parser while making sure that everything else is unchecked. However, I continue to end up with a PE which I cannot run on Linux. Any ideas? Thanks

  • Write Java objects to file

    - by Mark Szymanski
    Is it possible to write objects in Java to a binary file? The objects I want to write would be 2 arrays of String objects. The reason I want to do this is to save persistent data. If there is some easier way to do this let me know. Thanks in advance!

  • Evaluating mathematical expressions in Python

    - by vander
    Hi, I want to tokenize a given mathematical expression into a binary tree like this: ((3 + 4 - 1) * 5 + 6 * -7) / 2 '/' / \ + 2 / \ * * / \ / \ - 5 6 -7 / \ + 1 / \ 3 4 Is there any pure Python way to do this? Like passing as a string to Python and then get back as a tree like mentioned above. Thanks.
