• MEF GetExports<T, TMetaDataView> returning nothing with AllowMultiple = True

  I don't understand MEF very well, so hopefully this is a simple fix of how I think it works. I'm trying to use MEF to get some information about a class and how it should be used. I'm using the Metadata options to try to achieve this. In my CompositionContainer, I have a Part in my catalog that has two ExportDefinitions, both with the following ContractName: "MyNamespace.IMyInterface". The Metadata is also loaded correctly per my exports. If I remove the AllowMultiple setter and only include one exported attribute, the myExports variable now has the single export with its loaded metadata. What am I doing wrong?

• Getting true video Height/Width from ASF videos

  I am trying to convert an ASF video with FFMPEG using an interface called mediahandler. The issue is, the metadata on the ASF video appears to be corrupt. It states that the video is 640x240, and 4:3 aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is correct, but obviously the resolution is not. This causes the converter to incorrectly scale the video, because it uses the resolution to determine the original aspect ratio. I am able to get the aspect ratio metadata, but I'm not sure this solves the issue, because I would think that if the resolution could be incorrect, then so could the aspect ratio metadata. So, is there any way to get the actual height/width? It appears that players like VLC have no issue with this. How do I do such a thing w/ FFMPEG?

• PHP: creating a smooth edged circle, image or font?

  I'm making a PHP image script that will create circles at a given radius. I used: <?php imagefilledellipse ( $image, $cx, $cy, $w, $h, $color ); ?> but hate the rough edges it produces. So I was thinking of making or using a circle font that I will output using: <?php imagettftext ( $image, $size, $angle, $x, $y, $color, 'fontfile.ttf', $text ); ?> So that the font will produce a circle that has a smooth edge. My problem is making the "font size" match the "radius size". Any ideas? Or maybe a PHP class that will produce a smooth edge on a circle would be great! Thank you.

• How do you handle huge if-conditions?

  It's something that's bugged me in every language I've used, I have an if statement but the conditional part has so many checks that I have to split it over multiple lines, use a nested if statement or just accept that it's ugly and move on with my life. Are there any other methods that you've found that might be of use to me and anybody else that's hit the same problem? • NOT LIKE not working on comparison to a column

  Data is fairly large and takes few minutes to run it every time, so its taking a lot of time debugging this problem. When I run like concat('%',T.item,'%') on smaller data it seems to identify items properly. However, when I run it on the main DB (the code shown), it still shows many(maybe even all) of the exceptions.   I'm currently working on a wordpress site. My task is just to add the conversion script in a thankyou page. • 406 Not Acceptable error when using Jquery $.post in Firefox but not in Safari or Chrome

  I'm using Jquery (1.3.2) $.post command to trigger an ajax call to a rails server. The code works great on Safari and on Google Chrome (mac), but when I tried it on Firefox (3.5.7), I got a weird '406 Not Acceptable' error. When I look at the headers, it Firefox indicated that it accepted only ' text/javascript' responses. And the response Content-Type was 'text/html; charset=utf-8'. In Chrome the accepted types were 'application/json, text/javascript, /, text/javascript' and the response Content-Type was 'application/json; charset=utf-8'. I tried to force the content type in rails to 'text/javascript' format.json do render :json => @races.to_json, :content_type => 'text/javascript' end The content type is indeed changed in Chrome, but not in Firefox where it remains 'text/html'. Here is the code I used to trigger the ajax call. $.post( "/locator", params, function(data){...}, "json" ); Is there something I can do to make this work in Firefox? Thanks

• vs10 not deploying all required files - then not over-writing updated files

  I'm in the habit of deploying to alternating folders (/inetpub/wwwroot/mySite & /inetpub/wwwroot/mySite2) so if something unexpected happens with the deploy i can quickly swap back to a previous version just by changing the path in IIS So i was deploying an MVC2 webapp to a empty folder figuring that VS would send up all the files it needs. Not even close. Initially, it didn't even upload a couple required nHibernate.dlls. Later, after manually copying files referenced in the thrown exceptions, i just copied all the files from the previous compile and then re-published over the top expecting VS to over-write the changed files. Failed that too. No reports of errors by VS....just failed to over-write a number of pre-existing (but changed/updated) files. Hard to believe these kinds of errors (and lack of feedback that errors were encountered) in a state of the art tool like VS. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong. I'm using VisualSVN for source control and connect to my colocated server via a VPN-based mapped network drive (so I can use FileSystem to publish). (both of which can complicate file properties) VS08 had more choices for which files it would send up - i found i needed to use the 'All files in source' on an initial deployment, the 'Replace Matching'. If I choose 'delete all existing...' I'd be back to square 1 and have to deploy with the 'All files in source project folder'. But VS10 doesn't have the 'All files in source project folder. I ended up manually copying the files - which seems not right in the extreme. Are these known issues others have to deal with? What's best practice for deploying a web-app? thx

  I'm using a DataList to show some data from the database and populating the fields on the html side. I now have a requirement to change the visibility of a panel based on whether or not a db field has data or not. I need to be able to show the panel if the relevant data field has content, and hide it if it doesn't. Eg: <asp:Panel ID="pnlNew" runat="server" Style="margin:0; padding:0; width:42px; height:18px; bottom:5px; right:10px; float:right; position:relative; background:url(../_imgVideoBadge.png) no-repeat;" Visible='<%# Eval("cheese") != null %>' ToolTip="available"></asp:Panel> Obviously this doesn't work in terms of the visible property. But hopefully it gives an idea of what I'm trying to achieve. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've seen examples previously of doing something along the lines of: a ?? b:c How could this be applied to the above requirement?? Thanks in advance.

• Installing Lubuntu 14.04.1 forcepae fails

  I tried to install Lubuntu 14.04.1 from a CD. First, I chose Try Lubuntu without installing which gave: ERROR: PAE is disabled on this Pentium M (PAE can potentially be enabled with kernel parameter "forcepae" ... Following the description on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE, I used forcepae and tried Try Lubuntu without installing again. That worked fine. dmesg | grep -i pae showed: [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: file=/cdrom/preseed/lubuntu.seed boot=casper initrd=/casper/initrd.lz quiet splash -- forcepae [ 0.008118] PAE forced! On the live-CD session, I tried installing Lubuntu double clicking on the install button on the desktop. Here, the CD starts running but then stops running and nothing happens. Next, I rebooted and tried installing Lubuntu directly from the boot menu screen using forcepae again. After a while, I receive the following error message: The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again. Hitting Enter brings me to the desktop. For what errors should I search? And how? Finally, I rebooted once more and tried Check disc for defects with forcepae option; no errors have been found. Now, I am wondering how to find the error or whether it would be better to follow advice c in https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PAE: "Move the hard disk to a computer on which the processor has PAE capability and PAE flag (that is, almost everything else than a Banias). • UIViewController not oreintating. Methods not called

  Greetings, This question does seem to be an ongoing saga in the world of iphone SDK... so heres my contribution... Had two separate projects from the same template... one semi-works, the other not at all... Please let me explain my steps... used this basic GL ES template //iphonedevelopment.blogspot.com/2008/12/opengl-project-template-for-xcode.html had to sort out some of the 'Release' configuration but otherwises has eveything I need to add orientation to a GL ES project. One my first project, did my stuff, then added these methods.... -(BOOL)shouldAutoRotateToInterfaceOrientation ..... -(void)willRotateToInterfaceOrientation .... -(void)didRotateFromInterfaceOrientation .... -(void)willAnimateRotationToInterfaceOrientation .... And understand what they do (or are trying to do in my case), the (BOOL)should... gets called once when the view controller is created, and returns 'YES'. But after that none of the other methods are called! So I started from scratch with a blank template (GL ES one from above)...and added minimum to support auto rotation. But this time none of the methods get called! So I investigated .... //developer.apple.com/iphone/library/qa/qa2010/qa1688.html as it said, I added the GLViewController.view first, then added the GLview as subviews of the application delegate. Nothing! Then found this //www.iphonedevsdk.com/forum/iphone-sdk-development/44993-how-determine-ipad-launch-orientation.html which states to enable orientation notifications [[UIDevice currentDevice] beginGeneratingDeviceOrientationNotifications]; and then subsequently disable them in the view controller... makes sense...did it, nothing... I think the notifications might be on by default though, since I didn't need to enable them in the first project, yet it still try to verify a orientation (i.e (BOOL)shouldAutoRotate... )... If any one could help me out it would be greatly appreciated as this issue is driving me insane. Thanks in advance. I have no clue why. When I remove the ON DELETE RESTRICT statements from the table declaration, it works. Why is that?

• Not Jailbroken - getting Provisioning is not applicable for product type 'Application' in SDK Device

  Codesign warning: provisioning is not applicable for product type 'Application' in SDK Device - iPhone OS3.1'; ignoring.. Redownloaded my developer certificate, made a new provisioning profile, still getting this error. Searched the Xcode project and removed all lines referencing a Provisioning Profile, but that didn't seem to remove it from the project settings (went to show package contents, then opened the project file). Was originally on a different machine then transferred over, if that makes a difference? Thanks
