  • Whats the maximum key length in NSDictionary?

    - by x3ro
Hey there, I'm currently working on an app which displays a bunch of files in a table, and you can add and remove them and whatsoever. To prevent duplicates in the table, I'd like to create a NSDictionary using the files full path as keys for another NSDictionary which contains all the file information, but I am a little concerned about the maximum key length of NSDictionary, and also whether this solution would be performance killer or not... Looking forward to your answers. Best regards, x3ro

  • htaccess - rewrite rule issue - not able to get 10th variable

    - by sandeepan-nath
I am not able to get the 10th variable. I am getting 1st variable appended with a 0(zero) instead. RewriteRule ^(browse_by_exam)/(classes|packs|tutor_search)/([a-zA-Z0-9\.\á\á\â\ä\ã\å\æ\ç\è\é\ê\ë\ì\í\ï\ð\ñ\ò\ó\ô\õ\ö\ø\ù\ú\û\ü\ý\þ\¿\¡\«\»\ÿ\ß\$\*\!\-\=\@\#\%\^\(\)\_\&\{\}\;\,\<\>\?\`\~\[\|\"\'\]\\\ +]+)/([0-1])/([0-9]+)/([0-9]+)/([0-9]+),([0-9]+),([a-z]+),([a-z]+)?$ index.php?a=$1&type=$2&search_text=$3&new_search=$4&search_exam=$5&search_subject=$6&site=$7&count=$8&column=$9&direction=$10 I am not able to get the 10th variable using $_GET['direction'] in my php code - it returns me the 1st variable appended with a 0 i.e. browse_by_exam0. I read in many places about this thing. Here http://www.digimantra.com/tutorials/advanced-htaccess-for-more-than-10-group-of-backtrack-references/, they have given a workaround for the problem - using %1 instead of $10, but that too is not working. Please help. I am completely blocked.

  • best practice on precedence of variable declaration and error handling in C

    - by guest
is there an advantage in one of the following two approaches over the other? here it is first tested, whether fopen succeeds at all and then all the variable declarations take place, to ensure they are not carried out, since they mustn't have had to void func(void) { FILE *fd; if ((fd = fopen("blafoo", "+r")) == NULL ) { fprintf(stderr, "fopen() failed\n"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } int a, b, c; float d, e, f; /* variable declarations */ /* remaining code */ } this is just the opposite. all variable declarations take place, even if fopen fails void func(void) { FILE *fd; int a, b, c; float d, e, f; /* variable declarations */ if ((fd = fopen("blafoo", "+r")) == NULL ) { fprintf(stderr, "fopen() failed\n"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } /* remaining code */ } does the second approach produce any additional cost, when fopen fails? would love to hear your thoughts!

  • Stored Procedure: Variable passed from PHP alters second half of query string

    - by Stephanie
Hello everyone, Basically, we have an ASP website right now that I'm converting to PHP. We're still using the MSSQL server for the DB -- it's not moving. In the ASP, now, there's an include file with a giant sql query that's being executed. This include sits on a lot of pages and this is a simple version of what happens. Pages A, B and C all use this include file to return a listing. In ASP, Page A passes through variable A to the include file - page B passes through variable B -- page C passes through variable C, and so on. The include file builds the SQL query like this: sql = "SELECT * from table_one LEFT OUTER JOIN table_two ON table_one.id = table_two.id" then adds (remember, ASP), based on the variable passed through from the parent page, Select Case sType Case "A" sql = sql & "WHERE LOWER(column_a) <> 'no' AND LTRIM(ISNULL(column_b),'') <> '' ORDER BY column_a Case "B" sql = sql & "WHERE LOWER(column_c) <> 'no' ORDER BY lastname, firstname Case "C" sql = sql & "WHERE LOWER(column_f) <> 'no' OR LOWER(column_g) <> 'no' ORDER BY column_g As you notice, every string that's added on as the second part of the sql query is different than the previous; not just one variable can be substituted out, which is what has me stumped. How do I translate this case / switch into the stored procedure, based on the varchar input that I pass to the stored procedure via PHP? This stored procedure will actually handle a query listing for about 20 pages, so it's a hefty one and this is my first major complicated one. I'm getting there, though! I'm also just more used to MySQL, too. Not that they're that different. :P Thank you very much for your help in advance. Stephanie

  • Limit URL Parameter Length in Web.Config

    - by Alex
Is it possible to add some kind of restriction to the web.config to limit URL parameter length? I want to prevent people at the earliest possible point from submitting too large URL parameters so the server doesn't get taxed more than necessary in the event that somebody tries to "attack" it with large invalid URL parameters.

  • Create categorical variable in R based on range

    - by Stedy
I have a dataframe with a column of integers that I would like to use as a reference to make a new categorical variable. I want to divide the variable into three groups and set the ranges myself (ie 0-5, 6-10, etc). I tried cut but that divides the variable into groups based on a normal distribution and my data is right skewed. I have also tried to use if/then statements but this outputs a true/false value and I would like to keep my original variable. I am sure that there is a simple way to do this but I cannot seem to figure it out. Any advice on a simple way to do this quickly?

    - by iamdadude
I have a variable called $theclass and it's a string "Home_class". How can I define a class out of that string? The reason I need to do this is that the variable will change and I want to be able to declare the class that the variable is equal to. Is this possible? Thanks for any help.

  • SQL column length query

    - by Mike
i've been using the following query: select LEN(columnname) as columnmame from dbo.amu_datastaging This works, but is there a way to only return the greatest value instead of all the values? So if i return 1million records and the longest length is 400, the query would just return the value of 400?

  • Length of current selection in Eclipse

    - by Grzegorz Oledzki
Do you know any easy way to know what is the length of current selection in Eclipse? I.e. I select a line fragment and would like to know how many characters are there? Usually I count them manually, but that's stupid. When being desperate I move to the start, check the column number, move to the end, check the column number, subtract, think a minute if I should add 1 or not... and my selection is lost.

  • Ruby class variable is reset after rails app initialized

    - by Phuong Nguy?n
I tried to assign a class static variable like this class QueryLogger < Logger @@query_logger_default_instance = nil def self.default_instance # Use global variable because static variable doesn't work @@query_logger_default_instance ||= self.new(STDOUT) end end In initializers folder of my rails app, I added a file with this code block ActiveRecord::Base.logger = QueryLogger.default_instance In a request (action of controller), I make a call to this: QueryLogger.default_instance. My assumption is that the call to default_instance will always report the same. However, it does not. Now I try to watch stuff in NetBeans by setting breakpoint inside default_instance. Thing happen as expected, the default_instance get called twice, one due to the initializer block and one due to the call to my action. Surprising thing is, in both times, @@query_logger_default_instance report nil inside NetBeans inspector. The first nil report is correct, but the second shocked me. It's look like static variable gets reset after rails app initialized. Is there some magic there?

  • PHP object class variable

    - by mck89
I have built a class in PHP and I must declare a class variable as an object. Everytime I want to declare an empty object I use: $var=new stdClass; But if I use it to declare a class variable as class foo { var $bar=new stdClass; } a parse error occurs. Is there a way to do this or must I declare the class variable as an object in the constructor function? PS: I'm using PHP 4.

  • Nginx: check content-length before file upload takes place

    - by robw
I'm trying to prevent users from uploading (accidentally or maliciously) very large files to my website. I have nginx max_client_body_size set to 4M, but if a file larger than this is uploaded, then it uploads the entire file before returning 413 (entity too large). I want to make nginx check the Content-Length header, so that it rejects the request before it's uploaded. Alternatively, a Rails solution would also be acceptable. Any help appreciated.
