  • JS: variable inheritance in anonymous functions - scope

    - by tkSimon
    hey guys, someone from doctype sent me here. long story short: var o="before"; x = function() //this needs to be an anonymous function { alert(o); //the variable "o" is from the parent scope }; o="after"; //this chages "o" in the anonymous function x(); //this results in in alert("after"); //which is not the way i want/need it in reality my code is somewhat more complex. my script iterates through many html objects and adds an event listener each element. i do this by declaring an anonymous function for each element and call another function with an ID as argument. that ID is represented by the "o"-variable in this example. after some thinking i understand why it is the way it is, but is there a way to get js to evaluate o as i declare the anonymous function without dealing with the id attribute and fetching my ID from there? my full source code is here: http://pastebin.com/GMieerdw the anonymous function is on line 303

  • Ruby on Rails: Using XML Builder Partials

    - by randombits
    Partials in XML builder are proving to be non-trivial. After some initial Google searching, I found the following to work, although it's not 100% xml.foo do xml.id(foo.id) xml.created_at(foo.created_at) xml.last_updated(foo.updated_at) foo.bars.each do |bar| xml << render(:partial => 'bar/_bar', :locals => { :bar => bar }) end end this will do the trick, except the XML output is not properly indented. the output looks something similar to: <foo> <id>1</id> <created_at>sometime</created_at> <last_updated>sometime</last_updated> <bar> ... </bar> <bar> ... </bar> </foo> The <bar> element should align underneath the <last_updated> element, it is a child of <foo> like this: <foo> <id>1</id> <created_at>sometime</created_at> <last_updated>sometime</last_updated> <bar> ... </bar> <bar> ... </bar> </foo> Works great if I copy the content from bar/_bar.xml.builder into the template, but then things just aren't DRY.

  • MVVM Binding in Silverlight3 ItemsControl to get the parent controls DataContext

    - by BigTundra
    I have the following ItemsControl in Silverlight 3. <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding ValueCollectionList}"> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Button x:Name="MyBtn" Height="40" Content="{Binding Name}" Tag="{Binding Value}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.Command="{Binding ElementName=LayoutRoot, Path=ButtonCommand}" cmd:ButtonBaseExtensions.CommandParameter="{Binding ElementName=MyBtn, Path=Tag}"/> </DataTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> </ItemsControl> The Problem is that I have the ItemsControl bound to the Collection in my ViewModel, but I need the button to trigger a command on the ViewModel which is of course not Available in the DataContext of the button since it only contains the collection. I can make the command fire by setting my ViewModel as a Resource and then binding to it as a StaticResource, but I want to know why the element to element binding won't work in this scenario. I would prefer not to use the StaticResource binding because that requires the default constructor on the ViewModel and so I can't inject my data easily.

  • Removing white space inside quotes in XSLT

    - by fudgey
    I'm trying to format a table from XML. Lets say I have this line in the XML <country>Dominican Republic</country> I would like to get my table to look like this <td class="country DominicanRepublic">Dominican Republic</td> I've tried this: <td class="country {country}"><xsl:value-of select="country"/></td> then this: <xsl:element name="td"> <xsl:attribute name="class"> <xsl:text>country </xsl:text> <xsl:value-of select="normalize-space(country)"/> </xsl:attribute> <xsl:value-of select="country"/> </xsl:element> The normalize-space() doesn't remove the space between the two parts of the name and I can't use <xsl:strip-space elements="country"/> because I need the space when I display the name inside the table cell. How can I strip the space from the value inside the class, but not the text in the cell?

  • javadoc and overloaded methods

    - by skrebbel
    Hi all, I'm developing an API with many identically named methods that just differ by signature, which I guess is fairly common. They all do the same thing, except that they initialize various values by defaults if the user does not want to specify. As a digestible example, consider public interface Forest { public Tree addTree(); public Tree addTree(int amountOfLeaves); public Tree addTree(int amountOfLeaves, Fruit fruitType); public Tree addTree(int amountOfLeaves, int height); public Tree addTree(int amountOfLeaves, Fruit fruitType, int height); } The essential action performed by all of these methods is the same; a tree is planted in the forest. Many important things users of my API need to know about adding trees hold for all these methods. Ideally, I would like to write one Javadoc block that is used by all methods: /** * Plants a new tree in the forest. Please note that it may take * up to 30 years for the tree to be fully grown. * * @param amountOfLeaves desired amount of leaves. Actual amount of * leaves at maturity may differ by up to 10%. * @param fruitType the desired type of fruit to be grown. No warranties * are given with respect to flavour. * @param height desired hight in centimeters. Actual hight may differ by * up to 15%. */ In my imagination, a tool could magically choose which of the @params apply to each of the methods, and thus generate good docs for all methods at once. With Javadoc, if I understand it correctly, all I can do is essentially copy&paste the same javadoc block five times, with only a slightly differing parameter list for each method. This sounds cumbersome to me, and is also difficult to maintain. Is there any way around that? Some extension to javadoc that has this kind of support? Or is there a good reason why this is not supported that I missed?

  • WPF custom BalloonTips problem with multithreading

    - by Erika
    Hi, I have read other related question but i cant really get them to relate to this so I thought it were best to ask, Im pretty new to WPF and so on so please bear with me. I am using this http://www.codeproject.com/KB/WPF/wpf_notifyicon.aspx api to work with custom WPF Windows (in particular FancyBalloon). However, i'm coming across the following problem, I seem unable to start off BalloonTips in a separate thread ( i need this because i'm parsing emails and hence if there are 3 emails for instance, it displays the first email (that works fine), but when it comes to the second email it crashes with a TargetInvocationException , {"Specified element is already the logical child of another element. Disconnect it first."}. Thing is, im supposedly working with the same instance and i have attempted calling it to close it before, disposing it etc but to no avail. (then again if i dispose it, i cant create another instance as apparently WPF UI components must be called from a static thread so throughout the looping of emails + displaying balloon, i am trying to use the same BalloonTip. Any suggestions please? I am really at a loss here and i've been on it for quite a while now :/ I was wondering if there was anyone

  • Calculating skew of text OpenCV

    - by Nick
    I am trying to calculate the skew of text in an image so I can correct it for the best OCR results. Currently this is the function I am using: double compute_skew(Mat &img) { // Binarize cv::threshold(img, img, 225, 255, cv::THRESH_BINARY); // Invert colors cv::bitwise_not(img, img); cv::Mat element = cv::getStructuringElement(cv::MORPH_RECT, cv::Size(5, 3)); cv::erode(img, img, element); std::vector<cv::Point> points; cv::Mat_<uchar>::iterator it = img.begin<uchar>(); cv::Mat_<uchar>::iterator end = img.end<uchar>(); for (; it != end; ++it) if (*it) points.push_back(it.pos()); cv::RotatedRect box = cv::minAreaRect(cv::Mat(points)); double angle = box.angle; if (angle < -45.) angle += 90.; cv::Point2f vertices[4]; box.points(vertices); for(int i = 0; i < 4; ++i) cv::line(img, vertices[i], vertices[(i + 1) % 4], cv::Scalar(255, 0, 0), 1, CV_AA); return angle; } When I look at then angle in debug I get 0.000000 However when I give it this image I get proper results of a skew of about 16 degrees: How can I properly detect the skew in the first image?

  • c# linq to xml to list

    - by WtFudgE
    I was wondering if there is a way to get a list of results into a list with linq to xml. If I would have the following xml for example: <?xml version="1.0"?> <Sports xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <SportPages> <SportPage type="test"> <LinkPage> <IDList> <string>1</string> <string>2</string> </IDList> </LinkPage> </SportPage> </SportPages> </Sports> How could I get a list of strings from the IDList? I'm fairly new to linq to xml so I just tried some stuff out, I'm currently at this point: var IDs = from sportpage in xDoc.Descendants("SportPages").Descendants("SportPage") where sportpage.Attribute("type").Value == "Karate" select new { ID = sportpage.Element("LinkPage").Element("IDList").Elements("string") }; But the var is to chaotic to read decently. Isn't there a way I could just get a list of strings from this? Thanks

  • IE innerHTML chops sentence if the last word contains '&' (ampersand)

    - by Mandai
    I am trying to populate a DOM element with ID 'myElement'. The content which I'm populating is a mix of text and HTML elements. Assume following is the content I wish to populate in my DOM element. var x = "<b>Success</b> is a matter of hard work &luck"; I tried using innerHTML as follows, document.getElementById("myElement").innerHTML=x; This resulted in chopping off of the last word in my sentence. Apparently, the problem is due to the '&' character present in the last word. I played around with the '&' and innerHTML and following are my observations. If the last word of the content is less than 10 characters and if it has a '&' character present in it, innerHTML chops off the sentence at '&'. This problem does not happen in firefox. If I use innerText the last word is in tact but then all the HTML tags which are part of the content becomes plain text. I tried populating through jQuery's #html method, $("#myElement").html(x); This approach solves the problem in IE but not in chrome. How can I insert a HTML content with a last word containing '&' without it being chopped off in all browsers?

  • vectorizing a for loop in numpy/scipy?

    - by user248237
    I'm trying to vectorize a for loop that I have inside of a class method. The for loop has the following form: it iterates through a bunch of points and depending on whether a certain variable (called "self.condition_met" below) is true, calls a pair of functions on the point, and adds the result to a list. Each point here is an element in a vector of lists, i.e. a data structure that looks like array([[1,2,3], [4,5,6], ...]). Here is the problematic function: def myClass: def my_inefficient_method(self): final_vector = [] # Assume 'my_vector' and 'my_other_vector' are defined numpy arrays for point in all_points: if not self.condition_met: a = self.my_func1(point, my_vector) b = self.my_func2(point, my_other_vector) else: a = self.my_func3(point, my_vector) b = self.my_func4(point, my_other_vector) c = a + b final_vector.append(c) # Choose random element from resulting vector 'final_vector' self.condition_met is set before my_inefficient_method is called, so it seems unnecessary to check it each time, but I am not sure how to better write this. Since there are no destructive operations here it is seems like I could rewrite this entire thing as a vectorized operation -- is that possible? any ideas how to do this?

  • Finding if a Binary Tree is a Binary Search Tree

    - by dharam
    Today I had an interview where I was asked to write a program which takes a Binary Tree and returns true if it is also a Binary Search Tree otherwise false. My Approach1: Perform an inroder traversal and store the elements in O(n) time. Now scan through the array/list of elements and check if element at ith index is greater than element at (i+1)th index. If such a condition is encountered, return false and break out of the loop. (This takes O(n) time). At the end return true. But this gentleman wanted me to provide an efficient solution. I tried but I was unsuccessfult, because to find if it is a BST I have to check each node. Moreover he was pointing me to think over recusrion. My Approach 2: A BT is a BST if for any node N N-left is < N and N-right N , and the INorder successor of left node of N is less than N and the inorder successor of right node of N is greater than N and the left and right subtrees are BSTs. But this is going to be complicated and running time doesn't seem to be good. Please help if you know any optimal solution. Thanks.

  • extracting RDL data using LINQ

    - by BobC
    I'm working with some SQL Report definition files (RDLs), using LINQ to extract component query statements for validation. I'm trying to extract the <DataSet> elements from under the <DataSets> element. I seem to be getting hung up with one of the elements under <DataSet><Fields><Field> which has a namespace qualifier <rd:TypeName> I've been using LINQ to XML for other parts of the files where there is no namespace qualifiers with no trouble, by specifying a default namespace. The RDL specifies two namespaces: xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/reporting/2005/01/reportdefinition" xmlns:rd="http://schemas.microsoft.com/SQLServer/reporting/reportdesigner"> When I try to get the <DataSets> element, however, I get the following error: System.Xml.XmlException - The ':' character, hexadecimal value 0x3A, cannot be included in a name. I know it has to do with the namespace qualifier (rd:) in one of the child elements, but I'm having difficulty getting a LINQ expression that works. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • improve my code for collapsing a list of data.frames

    - by romunov
    Dear StackOverFlowers (flowers in short), I have a list of data.frames (walk.sample) that I would like to collapse into a single (giant) data.frame. While collapsing, I would like to mark (adding another column) which rows have came from which element of the list. This is what I've got so far. This is the data.frame that needs to be collapsed/stacked. > walk.sample [[1]] walker x y 1073 3 228.8756 -726.9198 1086 3 226.7393 -722.5561 1081 3 219.8005 -728.3990 1089 3 225.2239 -727.7422 1032 3 233.1753 -731.5526 [[2]] walker x y 1008 3 205.9104 -775.7488 1022 3 208.3638 -723.8616 1072 3 233.8807 -718.0974 1064 3 217.0028 -689.7917 1026 3 234.1824 -723.7423 [[3]] [1] 3 [[4]] walker x y 546 2 629.9041 831.0852 524 2 627.8698 873.3774 578 2 572.3312 838.7587 513 2 633.0598 871.7559 538 2 636.3088 836.6325 1079 3 206.3683 -729.6257 1095 3 239.9884 -748.2637 1005 3 197.2960 -780.4704 1045 3 245.1900 -694.3566 1026 3 234.1824 -723.7423 I have written a function to add a column that denote from which element the rows came followed by appending it to an existing data.frame. collapseToDataFrame <- function(x) { # collapse list to a dataframe with a twist walk.df <- data.frame() for (i in 1:length(x)) { n.rows <- nrow(x[[i]]) if (length(x[[i]])>1) { temp.df <- cbind(x[[i]], rep(i, n.rows)) names(temp.df) <- c("walker", "x", "y", "session") walk.df <- rbind(walk.df, temp.df) } else { cat("Empty list", "\n") } } return(walk.df) } > collapseToDataFrame(walk.sample) Empty list Empty list walker x y session 3 1 -604.5055 -123.18759 1 60 1 -562.0078 -61.24912 1 84 1 -594.4661 -57.20730 1 9 1 -604.2893 -110.09168 1 43 1 -632.2491 -54.52548 1 1028 3 240.3905 -724.67284 1 1040 3 232.5545 -681.61225 1 1073 3 228.8756 -726.91980 1 1091 3 209.0373 -740.96173 1 1036 3 248.7123 -694.47380 1 I'm curious whether this can be done more elegantly, with perhaps do.call() or some other more generic function?

  • sIfr (3.436) and IE8 - My h1 and h2 are flickering

    I am using sIfr (3.436) for my H1 and H2 tags. In IE8 the text flickers and jumps around alot. See example: http://www.addenergy.no/drilling-production/category352.html I have tried various font-tuning as explained at Wiki.Novemberborn, but can't get a good result. Any help to lead in the right direction is appreciated! The sifr-config.js looks like this (h1/h2 is basically the same): sIFR.fitExactly = true; sIFR.fixWrap = true; sIFR.forceWidth = true; sIFR.replace(fedraSerif, { selector: '#placeholder-top h1', css: '.sIFR-root { background-color: #FFFFFF; color: #000000; }', ratios: [8, (...), 1.26] }); And sifr.css (bottom): @media screen { .sIFR-active #placeholder-top h1 { visibility: hidden; font-family: Verdana; font-size:2.5em; line-height:40px; } .sIFR-active #placeholder-top h2 { visibility: hidden; font-family: Verdana; font-size:2em; line-height:30px; } } My style.css (general for the site has): html, body { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Sans-serif; margin: 0; padding: 0; color: #333; background: #cccccc url('images/background.gif') repeat-y top center; } h1 { font-size: 35px; line-height: 40px; } #placeholder-top h1 { margin: 20px 120px 10px 5px; font-size:2.5em; display:block; line-height: 40px; } h2 { line-height: 30px; color: #009bdb; } #placeholder-top h2 { margin: 0px 120px 20px 5px; font-size:2em; display:block; line-height: 30px; }

  • [jQuery] Trouble loading tooltips on all images displayed inside Colorbox

    - by adaneko
    I would like to load a tooltip plugin (I'm currently trying qTip, but I've tried a few and have run into the same problem each time) inside Colorbox (http://colorpowered.com/colorbox/). Colorbox dynamically loads this code to display the images you want to show in it: <div id="cboxLoadedContent" style="display: block; width: 400px; overflow: auto; height: 498px;"> <img src="image.jpg" id="cboxPhoto" style="margin: 49px auto auto; border: medium none; display: block; float: none; cursor: pointer;"> </div> Using Colorbox's event hooks, I am currently calling my tooltip plugin on onComplete, but this only applies the tooltip to the first image in the group. If you go to the next image, the tooltip needs to be recalled as Colorbox regenerates the code displayed above. What is the best way to recall the tooltip plugin? I have tried to recall the tooltip by attaching it to clicking on the div with the id "cboxNext" as a test, but it doesn't work since it takes time for cboxPhoto to load, so I think the functions generating the tooltip load before they can apply to the image.

  • JQuery fadeIn() moving other CSS elements on fadeIn()

    - by Infiniti Fizz
    Hi, I've just been learning some jQUery to get a basic image gallery going on a website I'm creating for a hotel but it's currently not going to plan. I've got it so the arrows will cycle through images (no animation yet) but I decided that the arrows should fade in when the image is hovered over and fade out when not but this is messing up the CSS somehow. The arrows start faded out by calling: $('.arrowRight').fadeOut(0);$('.arrowLeft').fadeOut(0); at the start of the jQuery ready() function. This is fine, but when you hover over the image and the arrows fade in, the image shifts to the right and I don't know why. I suppose it could be because the left arrow now fading in means it is getting pushed over by it but the arrow has the following css: position:relative; top: -90px; left: 25px; Should a relative element be able to alter a normal element's position? If you need to try it out, just hover over the large (placeholder) image and they image will jump across when the arrows fade in and jump back when they fade out. Any ideas why this is happening? I'm a jQuery noob. Here is a link to the page: BeanSheaf Hotel Temporary Space Thanks for your time, InfinitiFizz

  • CKEditor createFakeParserElement: writeHtml is not a function

    - by Phil Sturgeon
    I am trying to write a plugin for CKEditor that is basically just a iframe with PHP content. The user browses around, selects the video they want and then they click insert. The problem is that I need to create a "fake element" for this video, as inserting a video directly seems to show up as a Flash object, and we need to make it look a little different. I have copied together some code from the Flash plugin.js (remember this is all undocumented and uncommented) and so far come up with this: function insertFakeElement( html ) { editor = window.parent.instance; var realElement = CKEDITOR.dom.element.createFromHtml( html ); var fakeElement = editor.createFakeParserElement( realElement, 'cke_video', 'object', true ), fakeStyle = fakeElement.attributes.style || ''; var width = realElement.attributes.width, height = realElement.attributes.height; if ( typeof width != 'undefined' ) fakeStyle = fakeElement.attributes.style = fakeStyle + 'width:' + cssifyLength( width ) + ';'; if ( typeof height != 'undefined' ) fakeStyle = fakeElement.attributes.style = fakeStyle + 'height:' + cssifyLength( height ) + ';'; editor.insertHTML(fakeElement.getHtml()); } The line "giving me jip" is: var fakeElement = editor.createFakeParserElement( realElement, 'cke_video', 'object', true ), It errors here saying: l.writeHtml is not a function [Break on this error] if(o)o.addRules(l);}});})();a.editor.p..."',o,'_text" The .js file is minified and I have no idea how the source files all fit together so I can't track down the cause of this error. Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?

  • XML Schema Migration

    - by Corwin Joy
    I am working on a project where we need to save data in an XML format. The problem is, over time we expect the format / schema for our data to change. What we want to be able to do is to produce scripts to migrate our data across different schema versions. We distribute our product to thousands of customers so we need to be able to run / apply these scripts at customer sites (so we can't just do the conversions by hand). I think that what we are looking for is some kind of XML data migration tool. In my mind the ideal tool could: Do an "XML diff" of two schema to identify added/deleted/changed nodes. Allow us to specify transformation functions. So, for example, we might add a new element to our schema that is a function of the old elements. (E.g. a new element C where C = A+B, A + B are old elements). So I think I am looking for a kind of XML diff and patch tool which can also apply transformation functions. One tool I am looking at for this is Altova's MapForce . I'm sure others here have had to deal with XML data format migration. How did you handle it? Edit: One point of clarification. The "diff" I plan to do is on the schema or .xsd files. The actual changes will be made to particular data sets that follow a given schema. These data sets will be .xml files. So its a "diff" of the schema to help figure out what changes need to be made to data sets to migrate them from one scheme to another.

  • Add incremental numbers at the end of a string in a loop in Javascript.

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
    This Javascript is part of a Foreach loop. var stickytooltip={ tooltipoffsets: [20, -30], //additional x and y offset from mouse cursor for tooltips fadeinspeed: 200, //duration of fade effect in milliseconds rightclickstick: false, //sticky tooltip when user right clicks over the triggering element (apart from pressing "s" key) ? stickybordercolors: ["#0a5692", "#0a5692"], //border color of tooltip depending on sticky state stickynotice: ["Press \"s\"", "or right click", "to sticky box"], //customize tooltip status message stickynotice2: "Click outside this box to hide it", //customize tooltip status message //***** NO NEED TO EDIT BEYOND HERE isdocked: false, positiontooltip:function($, $tooltip, e){ var x=e.pageX+this.tooltipoffsets[0], y=e.pageY+this.tooltipoffsets[1] var tipw=$tooltip.outerWidth(), tiph=$tooltip.outerHeight(), x=(x+tipw>$(document).scrollLeft()+$(window).width())? x-tipw-(stickytooltip.tooltipoffsets[0]*2) : x y=(y+tiph>$(document).scrollTop()+$(window).height())? $(document).scrollTop()+$(window).height()-tiph-10 : y $tooltip.css({left:x, top:y}) }, showbox:function($, $tooltip, e){ $tooltip.fadeIn(this.fadeinspeed) this.positiontooltip($, $tooltip, e) }, hidebox:function($, $tooltip){ if (!this.isdocked){ $tooltip.stop(false, true).hide() $tooltip.css({borderColor:'black'}).find('.stickystatus:eq(0)').css({background:this.stickybordercolors[0]}).html(this.stickynotice) } }, docktooltip:function($, $tooltip, e){ this.isdocked=true $tooltip.css({borderColor:'darkred'}).find('.stickystatus:eq(0)').css({background:this.stickybordercolors[1]}).html(this.stickynotice) }, init:function(targetselector, tipid){ jQuery(document).ready(function($){ var $targets=$(targetselector) var $tooltip=$('#'+tipid).appendTo(document.body) if ($targets.length==0) return var $alltips=$tooltip.find('div.atip') if (!stickytooltip.rightclickstick) stickytooltip.stickynotice[1]='' stickytooltip.stickynotice=stickytooltip.stickynotice.join(' ') stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) $targets.bind('mouseenter', function(e){ $alltips.hide().filter('#'+$(this).attr('data-tooltip')).show() stickytooltip.showbox($, $tooltip, e) }) $targets.bind('mouseleave', function(e){ stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) }) $targets.bind('mousemove', function(e){ if (!stickytooltip.isdocked){ stickytooltip.positiontooltip($, $tooltip, e) } }) $tooltip.bind("mouseenter", function(){ stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) }) $tooltip.bind("click", function(e){ e.stopPropagation() }) $(this).bind("click", function(e){ if (e.button==0){ stickytooltip.isdocked=false stickytooltip.hidebox($, $tooltip) } }) $(this).bind("contextmenu", function(e){ if (stickytooltip.rightclickstick && $(e.target).parents().andSelf().filter(targetselector).length==1){ //if oncontextmenu over a target element stickytooltip.docktooltip($, $tooltip, e) return false } }) $(this).bind('keypress', function(e){ var keyunicode=e.charCode || e.keyCode if (keyunicode==115){ //if "s" key was pressed stickytooltip.docktooltip($, $tooltip, e) } }) }) //end dom ready } } //stickytooltip.init("targetElementSelector", "tooltipcontainer") stickytooltip.init("*[data-tooltip]", "mystickytooltip") I need to just add some code to the end of "mystickytooltip" to add 1, 2, 3, 4 each time it loops. My JS-foo is nonexistant, please help :)

  • Big and Little endian question

    - by Bobby
    I have the following code: // Incrementer datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[0] += 1; // Decrementer datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[1] = (datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[1] == 0) ? 10 : datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[1] - 1; // Toggler datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[2] = (datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[2] == 0x0000) ? 0xFFFF : 0x0000; The u32Region array is an unsigned int array that is part of a struct. Later in the code I convert this array to Big endian format: unsigned long *swapL = (unsigned long*)&datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[50]; for (int i=0;i<50;i++) { swapL[i] = _byteswap_ulong(swapL[i]); } This entire code snippet is part of a loop that repeats indefinitely. It is a contrived program that increments one element, decrements another and toggles a third element. The array is then sent via TCP to another machine that unpacks this data. The first loop works fine. After that, since the data is in big endian format, when I "increment", "decrement", and "toggle", the values are incorrect. Obviously, if in the first loop datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[0] += 1; results in 1, the second loop it should be 2, but it's not. It is adding the number 1(little endian) to the number in datastores.cmtDatastores.u32Region[0](big endian). I guess I have to revert back to little endian at the start of every loop, but it appears there should be an easier way to do this. Any thoughts? Thanks, Bobby

  • (1 2 3 . #<void>)- heapsort

    - by superguay
    Hello everybody: I tried to implement a "pairing heap" with all the regular operations (merge, delete-min etc.), then I've been requested to write a function that would sort a list using my newly constructed heap implementation. Unfortunately it seems that someting goes wrong... Here's the relevant code: (define (heap-merge h1 h2) (cond ((heap-empty? h1) h2) ((heap-empty? h2) h1) (else (let ((min1 (heap-get-min h1)) (min2 (heap-get-min h2))) (if ((heap-get-less h1) min1 min2) (make-pairing-heap (heap-get-less h1) min1 (cons h2 (heap-get-subheaps h1))) (make-pairing-heap (heap-get-less h1) min2 (cons h1 (heap-get-subheaps h2)))))))) (define (heap-insert element h) (heap-merge (make-pairing-heap (heap-get-less h) element '()) h)) (define (heap-delete-min h) (define (merge-in-pairs less? subheaps) (cond ((null? subheaps) (make-heap less?)) ((null? (cdr subheaps)) (car subheaps)) (else (heap-merge (heap-merge (car subheaps) (cadr subheaps)) (merge-in-pairs less? (cddr subheaps)))))) (if (heap-empty? h) (error "expected pairing-heap for first argument, got an empty heap ") (merge-in-pairs (heap-get-less h) (heap-get-subheaps h)))) (define (heapsort l less?) (let aux ((h (accumulate heap-insert (make-heap less?) l))) (if (not (heap-empty? h)) (cons (heap-get-min h) (aux (heap-delete-min h)))))) And these are some selectors that may help you to understand the code: (define (make-pairing-heap less? min subheaps) (cons less? (cons min subheaps))) (define (make-heap less?) (cons less? '())) (define (heap-get-less h) (car h)) (define (heap-empty? h) (if (null? (cdr h)) #t #f)) Now lets get to the problem: When i run 'heapsort' it returns the sorted list with "void", as you can see: (heapsort (list 1 2 3) <) (1 2 3 . #)..HOW CAN I FIX IT? Regards, Superguay
