  • Can I combine atom feeds from separate resources into one?

    I have two resources for which I would like to generate feeds; they are called podcasts and posts. The problem is that when I include the auto_discovery_link in my templates, I have to add one for each of the two atom feeds that I've generated. The reason why this is a problem is that there are now two feeds for users to choose from, and most people probably won't realise that they need both so will only pick one. Is there a way to combine atom feeds from different resources into one atom feed? Like application.atom or something? I'm using builder to generate the feed.

Right now when I click the "Finish" button, facebook permissions dialogue is initiated but before I am prompted for the actual permission submission window, the browser freezes. Just like I have pressed Esc during the process. In fact status bar of the browser says "Stopped". Any help is highly appreciated.

    An event has many artists, and an artist has many events. The join of an artist and an event is called a performance. I want to add artists to an event. This works except that I'm getting duplicate entries into my join table when creating a new event.   • How to run only the latest/a given test using Rspec?

    Let's say I have a big spec file with 20 tests because I'm testing a large model and I had no other way of doing it : describe Blah it "should do X" do ... end it "should do Y" do ... end ... it "should do Z" do ... end end Running a single file is faster than running the whole test suite, but it's still pretty long. Is there a way to run the last one (ie the one at the end of the file, here "should do Z")? If this is not possible, is there a way to specify which test I want to run in my file ?

  • Escape doube and single backslashes in a string in Ruby

    Hello. I'm trying to access a network path in my ruby script on a windows platform in a format like this. \\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\ Now If I try to use this as a path, it won't work. Single backslashes are not properly escaped for this script. path = "\\servername\some windows share\folder 1\folder2\" d = Dir.new(path) I tried everything I could think of to properly escape slashes in the path. However I can't escape that single backslash - because of it's special meaning. I tried single quotes, double quotes, escaping backslash itself, using alternate quotes such as %Q{} or %q{}, using ascii to char conversion. Nothing works in a sense that I'm not doing it right. :-) Right now the temp solution is to Map a network drive N:\ pointing to that path and access it that way, but that not a solution. Does anyone have any idea how to properly escape single backslashes? Thank you

    Hi. I aw working on cross site authentication (some domains have got common authentication). So I want to send authentication data (login, password) to main domain from others. How should I use protect_from_forgery and how can I check if data received from valid domain? What I am thinking now is to turn off protect_from_forgery for session controller and check domain name of received data. But maybe I can configure CSRF protection for not only one domain?

  • Restricting Access in ERB code.

    I am trying to build a CMS using ERB. Is there a way you can give ERB code read-only access to your models? For instance, I want to be able to load any information on my models (Model.all, Model.find_by_slug, Model.find_by_name, Model.other_model.name, etc...), but I don't want to be able to change this data. Can you disable ERB from executing commands that would make database changes (Model.save, Model.update, Model.delete, Model.destroy, etc.)???

    I have a drop down list of Type in my Products model. I want to be able to search in the Products index.html.erb so a user selects a type from a drop down list, clicks search and all the products matching that type are returned. I can get normal search methods working where the user enters in their search in a text box but I cannot get it working when they just select from a dropdown. Can anyone help?

  • are fixtures loaded when using the sql dump to create a test database

    Because of some non standard table creation options I am forced to use the sql dump instead of the standard schema.rb (i.e. I have uncommented this line in the environment.rb config.active_record.schema_format = :sql). I have noticed that when I use the sql dump that my fixtures do not seem to be loaded into the database. Some data is loaded into it but, I am not sure where it is coming from. Is this normal? and if it is normal can anybody tell me where this other data is coming from?

So i am trying to send the field values in the GET request data. $('#uxMyForm').serialize(); the problem it is returning something undecipherable. I have used serialize before.   • Should I define models that will be owned by many different models or use controller and views?

    I am struggling to figure out how to get a relationship between several models. I have sales_leads which I need to view by company and by event. So if someone looks up the leads by company they can see all leads across all events, but also see all leads by event. Not sure if this is ownership versus a where? How should i go about checking for Post :has_many :comments. Should I stub Post.comments method and then check this with by returning a mock object of array of comment objects?     I'd like to call an action with a link_to button without being redirected to another page(I don't want ajax). For you to have an idea, I'm trying to accomplish a sort "link button" in a search page. So, when the link is clicked, the page should be refreshed showing the list ordered as I tell it in the action.
