Hi,
I want to get tree representation answer from my t-sql stored procedure. How can I do it ?
Does .NET have a predefined types for working with xml-answers from stored procedures ?
UPDATE CustomerPhone
SET PhoneTypeID = 7, PhoneNumber = 999-444
WHERE CustomerID = 500 AND PhoneNumber = 9-1-1;
PhoneNumber is of type varchar(20) whereas PhoneTypeID and CustomerID are of type int. I'm running the above statement in SQL Server, it works fine.
I wonder how come it works? I thought any string value has to be put between '...'
The following SQL query isn't working. I think the error is on the first line.
SELECT SUBSTRING(tbl_news.comment, 1, 250) as tbl_news.comment,
tbl_news.id, tbl_news.date, tbl_news.subject, tbl_users.username FROM tbl_news
INNER JOIN tbl_users ON tbl_news.creator = tbl_users.id
ORDER BY date DESC
My database has to store all the available departments in my company.
Some departments are sub-departments on another existing department. I've decided to solve this like this:
Departments
ID Description HeadOfDepartment ParentDepartment
ParentDepartment can be null, indicating it is a root department. If it has a parent I'll act accordingly, my question is how can I code this in Microsoft SQL?
I want to batch insert multiple records in sql server database using ADO.NET command/sqldataadapter and get identity value generated for all the rows in a single database trip.
What are my options?
is it possible to retrieve by using connection.getschema() the description item from a sql server table column, just like it's possible to retrieve the column name, data type, is nullable, column default value, etc?
I am trying to compare a series of strings like the following
rodeo rodas
carrot crate
GLX GLX 1.1
GLX glxs
the comparision need not be case sensitive
i am trying to write a sql where i am updating the first string with the second string if they match approximately. Here except the second string all the other examples match. I would like to write a query which updates the strings except the second one.
is this possible directly in a query in ACCESS
thanks
I have to sanitize a part of sql query. I can do something like this:
class << ActiveRecord::Base
public :sanitize_sql
end
str = ActiveRecord::Base.sanitize_sql(["AND column1 = ?", "two's"], '')
But it is not safe because I expose protected method. What is a better way to do it?
Hi,
Is there any place where I can find all possible object dependencies in Sql Server?
What I mean by "object dependency" is a list of object that one object can depend on. For example, TABLE can depend on SCHEMA, TYPE, TABLE, FUNCTION, etc.
So i need to figure out how i can get a record count value and use that count as a new value to insert into a table.
Ex: In My Stored Procedure
@Count int
What im looking for
@Count to equal "select top (1) _fieldName from _someTable order by _fieldName Desc"
Finally
insert into _newTable (_fieldName) values (@Count)
End
I dont have to use a variable, just trying to demonstrate what im really trying to do. My SQL knowledge is pretty limited so no laughing, or smirking! ;)
I want to copy data from a database to another, but I'd like to keep the primary key from the original database so it won't mess with the relationships. I'm using MS SQL Server 2008.
I have the following table...
TABLE: Accounts
ID (int, PK, Identity)
AccountType (int, PK)
Username (varchar)
Password (varchar)
I have created a composite key out of ID and AccountType columns so that people can have the same username/password but different AccountTypes.
Does this mean that for each foreign table that I try and link to I'll have to create two columns?
I’m using SQL Server 2008
Hi.
I'd like to indicate to SQL Server 2005, in my BEGIN CATCH...END CATCH block that the error is "handled"... That is, clear the error.
Is that possible??
Thanks.
A.
Hi
I currently loook after 20 odd databases in SQL server 2005 and need a tool for monitoring the performance and keep me informed if a database is running slow. Is there anything I can run within Managment studio of any other good third party tool (Pref free) that can do the job.
Thanks
I am trying to update records in an .mdb table with the number of records containing the same value
The sql below does not work but I think gives an indication of what I am trying to achieve.
UPDATE table1 AS A
INNER JOIN (SELECT PH_BSP , Count(PH_BSP) AS PHCOUNT FROM table1 GROUP BY PH_BSP) AS B
ON A.PH_BSP=B.PH_BSP
SET A.PH_SORT = B.PHCOUNT;
any ideas?
I have Table and i want to copy data from row to another and vice versa and i have the rows IDs.
is there any query to do that because i don't want make it by .net code i think sql query is easier than that.
thanks
I have saved a picture in sql server and now i can not to retrieve image and set it's in picturebox with linq.

{
DataGridViewRow row = dataGridViewUser.CurrentRow;
byte[] x=(byte[])row.Cells["Image"].Value;
MemoryStream ms1 = new MemoryStream(x);
picuser.Image = Bitmap.FromStream(ms1);
}
Hello everyone,
I am using SQL Server 2008 Enterprise. I met with issue which says line 9 of store procedure foo is meeting with dead lock issue. My question is how to find exactly the 9th line of the store procedure?
My confusion is because of coding format issue, how to locate 9th line correctly.
thanks in advance,
George
Hi everyone,
I want to make web service that will be interface for SQL reporting service. I really do not know much about that, I need some guidelines in order to solve this. Any help or suggestion would be helpful.
Thanks a lot.
Hi, im trying to connect to a remote sql express server using win. authentication.
I´m logued with a user with username Administrator, but when loggin, i got the next error:

Thanks in advance.
I've been looking into SQL recently and exploring a bit. in regards to Temp Tables I have discovered 3 different temp table types:
1) CREATE TABLE #TempTable
2) DECLARE TABLE @TempTable
3) SELECT * FROM (SELECT * FROM Customers) AS TempTable
Now I understand the scope behind the #TempTable and the @TempTable types, but what about the derived table as in example 3? Where does this derived table get stored? and if it is declared in 1 transaction, can a 2nd transaction access it, or is the scoping of Derived Tables that same as example 1 and 2?
This code was once working on sql server 2005. Now isolated in a visual basic 6 sub routine using ADODB to connect to a sql server 2008 database it throws an error saying:
"Login failed for user 'admin' "
I have since verified the connection string does work if i replace the body of this sub with the alternative code below this sub. When I run the small program with the button, it stops where it is marked below the asterisk line. Any ideas? thanks in advance.

This SQL query gives me today's number of users active in the last 30 days:
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table.users WHERE creation_tsz >= (now() - interval '30 days')
How can I modify it to get not a single value, but a table of active users for a range of dates?
Thanks,
Rob
