  • How to signal object instantiation in a Collaboration/Communication Diagram?

    - by devoured elysium
I'd like to know how to translate the following line of code to a Collaboration Diagram: Food food = new Food("abc", 123); I know that I can call an Food's method using the following notation: MyStaticMethod() ----------------------> -------- | | | Food | | | -------- being that equivalent to Taste taste = Food.MyStaticMethod(); and MyInstanceMethod() ----------------------> --------------- | | | food : Food | | | --------------- is equivalent to food.MyInstanceMethod(); but how do I signal that I want to call a given constructor on Food? Thanks

  • JComobox is not showing in the JDialog

    - by Pujan Srivastava
    I have 2 classes. when I put bold 3 lines in the method addCourses() the dialog does not show combobox in the Panel but when I remove from addCourses and put those bold lines in the constructor, JComboBox are shown in the Panel. But data will not show because data items updates to ComboBox will happen after Constructor is created. How can I solve this problem. this.mainPanel.add(courseCombo, BorderLayout.NORTH); this.mainPanel.add(sessionCombo, BorderLayout.CENTER); this.mainPanel.add(courseButton, BorderLayout.SOUTH); public class Updator { CourseListFrame clf = new CourseListFrame(); for(...){ clf.addContentsToBox(displayName, className); } clf.addCourses(); } and second class is public class CourseListFrame extends JDialog implements ActionListener { public JPanel mainPanel = new JPanel(new BorderLayout(2, 2)); public JButton courseButton = new JButton(("Submit")); public JComboBox courseCombo; public JComboBox sessionCombo; public Multimap<String, String> map; // = HashMultimap.create(); public static CourseListFrame courseListDialog; public CourseListFrame() { super(this.getMainFrame()); this.getContentPane().add(mainPanel); map = HashMultimap.create(); courseCombo = new JComboBox(); courseCombo.addItem("Select Courses"); courseCombo.addActionListener(this); sessionCombo = new JComboBox(); } public void addContentsToBox(String course, String session) { map.put(course, session); courseCombo.addItem(course); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { JComboBox cb = (JComboBox) e.getSource(); String str = (String) cb.getSelectedItem(); setSessionCombo(str); } public void setSessionCombo(String course) { if (map.containsKey(course)) { sessionCombo.removeAllItems(); Iterator it = map.get(course).iterator(); while (it.hasNext()) { sessionCombo.addItem(it.next()); } } } public void addCourses() { this.mainPanel.add(courseCombo, BorderLayout.NORTH); this.mainPanel.add(sessionCombo, BorderLayout.CENTER); this.mainPanel.add(courseButton, BorderLayout.SOUTH); } public static void showCourseListDialog() { if (courseListDialog == null) { courseListDialog = new CourseListFrame(); } courseListDialog.pack(); courseListDialog.setVisible(true); courseListDialog.setSize(260, 180); } }

  • Is there a way to extend controllers in sails.js

    - by alarner
Often times I will want to perform some action on every page of my web application or make some method available to all of my controllers. In the past with object oriented MVC frameworks I would have all of my controllers extend a root controller, placing everything I wanted done on every page in the constructor of that root controller. How would I accomplish something similar with sails.js / javascript?

  • Multiple Timers with setTimeInterval

    - by visibleinvisibly
I am facing a problem with setInterval being used in a loop. I have a function subscribeFeed( ) which takes an array of urls as input. It loops through the url array and subscribes each url to getFeedAutomatically() using a setInterval function. so if three URL's are there in the array, then 3 setInterval's will be called. The problem is 1)how to distinguish which setInterval is called for which URL. 2)it is causing Runtime exception in setInterval( i guess because of closure problem in javascript) //constructor function myfeed(){ this.feedArray = []; } myfeed.prototype.constructor= myfeed; myfeed.prototype.subscribeFeed =function(feedUrl){ var i=0; var url; var count = 0; var _this = this; var feedInfo = { url : [], status : "" }; var urlinfo = []; feedUrl = (feedUrl instanceof Array) ? feedUrl : [feedUrl]; //notifyInterval = (notifyInterval instanceof Array) ? notifyInterval: [notifyInterval]; for (i = 0; i < feedUrl.length; i++) { urlinfo[i] = { url:'', notifyInterval:5000,// Default Notify/Refresh interval for the feed isenable:true, // true allows the feed to be fetched from the URL timerID: null, //default ID is null called : false, position : 0, getFeedAutomatically : function(url){ _this.getFeedUpdate(url); }, }; urlinfo[i].url = feedUrl[i].URL; //overide the default notify interval if(feedUrl[i].NotifyInterval /*&& (feedUrl[i] !=undefined)*/){ urlinfo[i].notifyInterval = feedUrl[i].NotifyInterval; } // Trigger the Feed registered event with the info about URL and status feedInfo.url[i] = feedUrl[i].URL; //Set the interval to get the feed. urlinfo[i].timerID = setInterval(function(){ urlinfo[i].getFeedAutomatically(urlinfo[i].url); }, urlinfo[i].notifyInterval); this.feedArray.push(urlinfo[i]); } } // The getFeedUpate function will make an Ajax request and coninue myfeed.prototype.getFeedUpdate = function( ){ } I am posting the same on jsfiddle http://jsfiddle.net/visibleinvisibly/S37Rj/ Thanking you in advance

  • Help with ejb 3, weblogic and spring.

    - by berserkpi
So,hi there. I've created a simple EJB3 test project, the code is simple: @Stateless @Remote( { ISumaSimple.class }) public class SumaSimpleBean implements ISumaSimple { /** * Default constructor. */ public SumaSimpleBean() { // TODO Auto-generated constructor stub } @Override public int sumar(int a, int b) { // TODO Auto-generated method stub return a + b; } } public interface ISumaSimple { public int sumar(int a, int b); } Ok, my client is a stand alone spring aplication which configuration is: <bean id="sumaSimpleServicio" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean"> <property name="jndiEnvironment"> <props> <prop key="java.naming.factory.initial"> org.apache.openejb.client.RemoteInitialContextFactory </prop> <prop key="java.naming.provider.url"> ejbd://localhost:4201 </prop> </props> </property> <property name="jndiName" value="SumaSimpleBeanRemote" /> </bean> <bean id="clienteService" class="qtx.cliente.simple.ClienteService"> <property name="sumaSimpleServicio" ref="sumaSimpleServicio"></property> </bean> All worked smoothly, but then I tried deploying using weblogic 10.3, I just changed these values: weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory t3://localhost:7010 In weblogic jndi tree my ejb is under: SimpleEJB3SimpleEJB_jarSumaSimple3_ISumaSimple Of course I added wlclient.jar to my spring client classpath. I think I am missing something in weblogic case, but dunno. My spring client is throwing this exception: Caused by: org.springframework.beans.TypeMismatchException: Failed to convert property value of type [qtx.ejb.simple._SumaSimple3_gwze0z_ISumaSimpleIntf_Stub] to required type [qtx.servicio.simple.ISumaSimple] for property 'sumaSimpleServicio'; nested exception is java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot convert value of type [qtx.ejb.simple._SumaSimple3_gwze0z_ISumaSimpleIntf_Stub] to required type [qtx.servicio.simple.ISumaSimple] for property 'sumaSimpleServicio': no matching editors or conversion strategy found at org.springframework.beans.BeanWrapperImpl.convertForProperty(BeanWrapperImpl.java:391) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.convertForProperty(AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java:1288) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.applyPropertyValues(AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java:1249) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.populateBean(AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java:1010) at org.springframework.beans.factory.support.AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.doCreateBean(AbstractAutowireCapableBeanFactory.java:472) ... 14 more Caused by: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot convert value of type [qtx.ejb.simple._SumaSimple3_gwze0z_ISumaSimpleIntf_Stub] to required type [qtx.servicio.simple.ISumaSimple] for property 'sumaSimpleServicio': no matching editors or conversion strategy found at org.springframework.beans.TypeConverterDelegate.convertIfNecessary(TypeConverterDelegate.java:219) at org.springframework.beans.TypeConverterDelegate.convertIfNecessary(TypeConverterDelegate.java:138) at org.springframework.beans.BeanWrapperImpl.convertForProperty(BeanWrapperImpl.java:386) ... 18 more Any help would be appreciated.

  • Why can't create object of an abstract class?

    - by Gaurav
Here is a scenario in my mind and I have googled, Binged it a lot but got the answer like "Abstract class has not implemented method so, we cant create the object" "The word 'Abstract' instruct the clr that not to create object of the class" But in a simple class where we have all virtual method, able to create an object??? Also, we can define different access modified to Abstract class constructor like private, protected or public. My search terminated to this question ; Why we can't create object of an Abstract class?

  • How do I translate a ISO 8601 datetime string into a Python datetime object?

    - by Andrey Fedorov
I'm getting a datetime string in a format like "2009-05-28T16:15:00" (this is ISO 8601, I believe) one hack-ish option seems to be to parse the string using time.strptime and passing the first 6 elements of the touple into the datetime constructor, like: datetime.datetime(*time.strptime("2007-03-04T21:08:12", "%Y-%m-%dT%H:%M:%S")[:6]) I haven't been able to find a "cleaner" way of doing this, is there one?

  • memset for initialization in C++

    - by skydoor
    memset is sometimes used to initialize data in a constructor like the example below. Does it work in general ? Is it a good idea in general? class A { public: A(); private: int a; float f; char str[35]; long *lp; }; A::A() { memset(this, 0, sizeof(*this)); }

  • Trigger function on deserialization

    - by Tom Savage
I have a class with a number of fields which are normally calculated in the constructor from other data in the class. They are not serialized to XML because any changes to the rest of the data will likely require their recalculation. Is there a way I can set up a function call to be triggered on deserialization?

  • Extend Javascript Date Object

    - by jAndy
Hi Folks, I'm curious what would be the best practice to extend the Date constructor. The problem I'm facing is, that the Internet Explorer (< 7+8) can't parse a date like new Date('2010-05-11'); I have to admit that this is not a standard method to parse, anyways FireFox and Chrome perform well on that kind of date string. Now I'm wondering, should I just split/parse/rebuild the string before calling new Date() or is there a more elegant solution ?

  • Exception throws: encapsulate them or not?

    - by Simon
Hi there. Once I read an MSDN article that encouraged the following programming paradigm: public class MyClass { public void Method1() { NewCustomException(); } public void Method2() { NewCustomException(); } void NewCustomException() { throw new CustomException("Exception message"); } } Do you think this paradigm makes sense? Wouldn't it be enough to store the exception message in a static const field and then pass it to the exception's constructor, instead of encapsulating the whole exception throw?

  • CursorLoader, get URI for local database

    - by user1681358
I'm a newbie android programmer and I recently followed a tutorial which shows how to create a local SQLite database by using SQLiteDatabase.rawQuery to return a Cursor. I would like to modify my app to use CursorLoader which is apparently a better way to access the database. My problem is the CursorLoader constructor expects a URI to be given. Do I just input "file:///[path to db]"? Seems a bit messy.

  • What's the Flash equivalent of FlexEvent.CREATION_COMPLETE

    - by John
I'm moving some Flex classes to pure Flash/AS3 to be part of a shared library. I have an event listener on FlexEvent.CREATION_COMPLETE to create and add display-objects once things are running, but I don't know the right way to do this in Flash? edit: Maybe if my class subclasses Sprite rather than a Flex class, I can add children in the constructor, I don't need to wait for a "construction complete" event?

  • How deep are your unit tests?

    - by John Nolan
The thing I've found about TDD is that its takes time to get your tests set up and being naturally lazy I always want to write as little code as possible. The first thing I seem do is test my constructor has set all the properties but is this overkill? My question is to what level of granularity do you write you unit tests at? ..and is there a case of testing too much?

  • How to generate a random BigInteger value in Java?

    - by Bill the Lizard
I need to generate arbitrarily large random integers in the range 0 (inclusive) to n (exclusive). My initial thought was to call nextDouble and multiply by n, but once n gets to be larger than 253, the results would no longer be uniformly distributed. BigInteger has the following constructor available: public BigInteger(int numBits, Random rnd) Constructs a randomly generated BigInteger, uniformly distributed over the range 0 to (2numBits - 1), inclusive. How can this be used to get a random value in the range 0 - n, where n is not a power of 2?
