  • How would I implement code in a .h file into the main.cpp file?

    - by Lea
    I have a c++ project I am working on. I am a little stumped at the moment. I need a little help. I need to implement code from the .h file into the main.cpp file and I am not sure how to do that. For example code code from main.cpp: switch (choice){ case 1: // open an account { cout << "Please enter the opening balence: $ "; cin >> openBal; cout << endl; cout << "Please enter the account number: "; cin >> accountNum; cout << endl; break; } case 2:// check an account { cout << "Please enter the account number: "; cin >> accountNum; cout << endl; break; } and code from the .h file: void display(ostream& out) const; // displays every item in this list through out bool retrieve(elemType& item) const; // retrieves item from this list // returns true if item is present in this list and // element in this list is copied to item // false otherwise // transformers void insert(const elemType& item); // inserts item into this list // preconditions: list is not full and // item not present in this list // postcondition: item is in this list In the .h file you would need to use the void insert under transformer in the main.cpp under case 1. How would you do that? Any help is apprecaited. I hope I didn't confuse anyone on what I am needing to know how to do. Thanks

  • c++ when to put method out side the class

    - by user63898
    i saw that some times in c++ applications using only namespace declarations with header and source file like this : #ifndef _UT_ #define _UT_ #include <string> #include <windows.h> namespace UT { void setRootPath(char* program_path, char* file_path); char * ConvertStringToCharP(std::string str); }; #endif //and then in UT.cpp #include "UT.h" namespace UT { char * ConvertStringToCharP(std::string str) { char * writable = new char[str.size() + 1]; std::copy(str.begin(), str.end(), writable); writable[str.size()] = '\0'; return writable; } void setRootPath(char* program_path, char* file_path) { //... } } is it better then defining classic class with static methods? or just simple class ? dose this method has something better for the compiler linker ? the methods in this namespace are called allot of times .

  • ArrayBlockingQueue exceeds given capacity

    - by Wojciech Reszelewski
    I've written program solving bounded producer & consumer problem. While constructing ArrayBlockingQueue I defined capacity 100. I'm using methods take and put inside threads. And I've noticed that sometimes I see put 102 times with any take's between them. Why does it happen? Producer run method: public void run() { Object e = new Object(); while(true) { try { queue.put(e); } catch (InterruptedException w) { System.out.println("Oj, nie wyszlo, nie bij"); } System.out.println("Element added"); } } Consumer run method: public void run() { while(true) { try { queue.take(); } catch (InterruptedException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } System.out.println("Element removed"); } } Part of uniq -c on file with output: 102 Element removed 102 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added 2 Element removed 2 Element added 102 Element removed 102 Element added

  • What is the explanation of this results in Java ?

    - by M.H
    I have the following code : public class Main { private int i = j; //1 private int j = 10; public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println((new Main()).i); } } and there is a compiler error in line 1 because an illegal forward reference. But when I am trying the following code : public class Main { int i = getJ(); //1 int getJ(){ return j; } int j=10; public static void main(String[] args) { System.out.println(new Main().i); } } it works fine and the result is 0.Why there is no illegal forward reference in line 1 here?.The two codes look similar to me.

  • What is the effect of final variable declaration in methods?

    - by Finbarr
    Classic example of a simple server: class ThreadPerTaskSocketServer { public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException { ServerSocket socket = new ServerSocket(80); while (true) { final Socket connection = socket.accept(); Runnable task = new Runnable() { public void run() { handleRequest(connection); } }; new Thread(task).start(); } } } Why should the Socket be declared as final? Is it because the new Thread that handles the request could refer back to the socket variable in the method and cause some sort of ConcurrentModificationException?

  • Measuring time taken to display an object in Flex

    - by dta
    For e.g. function showIt():void { something.visible = true; } function init():void { time1 = flash.utils.getTimer(); showIt(); time2 = flash.utils.getTimer(); } <mx:st id="something" visible="false"/> <mx:Button click="init()"/> In the above code, I want to measure the time taken to display st on screen. Is it enough to compute time2 - time1? Or should I put an event handler on render? Or some other way?

  • How to get the action from the HttpServlet request to dispatch to multiple pages

    - by JFB
    I am using the Page Controller pattern. How could I use the same controller for two different pages by detecting the request action and then dispatching according to the result? Here is my code: account.jsp <form name="input" action="<%=request.getContextPath() %>/edit" method="get"> <input type="submit" value="Modifier" /> </form> Account Servlet public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException { System.out.println("received HTTP GET"); String action = request.getParameter("action"); if (action == null) { // the account page dispatch(request, response, "/account"); } else if (action == "/edit") { // the popup edit page dispatch(request, response, "/edit"); } protected void dispatch(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response, String page) throws javax.servlet.ServletException, java.io.IOException { RequestDispatcher dispatcher = getServletContext() .getRequestDispatcher(page); dispatcher.forward(request, response); } }

  • AnimationDrawable, when does it end?

    - by Syb
    I know there have been several people with the same question. Which is: How do i know when a frame by frame animation has ended? I have not had any useful answer on fora i visited. So i thought, let's see if they know at stackoverflow. But I could not sit still in the mean time, so i made a work around of this, but it does not really work the way i would like it to. here is the code: public class Main extends Activity { AnimationDrawable sybAnimation; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); ImageView imageView = (ImageView)findViewById(R.id.ImageView01); imageView.setBackgroundResource(R.anim.testanimation); sybAnimation = (AnimationDrawable) imageView.getBackground(); imageView.post(new Starter()); } class Starter implements Runnable { public void run() { sybAnimation.start(); long totalDuration = 0; for(int i = 0; i< sybAnimation.getNumberOfFrames();i++){ totalDuration += sybAnimation.getDuration(i); } Timer timer = new Timer(); timer.schedule(new AnimationFollowUpTimerTask(R.id.ImageView01, R.anim.testanimation_reverse),totalDuration); } } class AnimationFollowUpTimerTask extends TimerTask { private int id; private int animationToRunId; public AnimationFollowUpTimerTask(int idOfImageView, int animationXML){ id = idOfImageView; animationToRunId = animationXML; } @Override public void run() { ImageView imageView = (ImageView)findViewById(id); imageView.setBackgroundResource(animationToRunId); AnimationDrawable anim = (AnimationDrawable) imageView.getBackground(); anim.start(); } } basically I make a timertask which is scheduled with the same time as the animation to take. In that run() I want to load a new animation into the imageView and start that animation, this however does not work. Does anyone know how to get this to work, or even better, have a better way to find out when an AnimationDrawable has ended its animation?

  • Bad Design? Constructor of composition uses `this`

    - by tanascius
    Example: class MyClass { Composition m_Composition; void MyClass() { m_Composition = new Composition( this ); } } I am interested in using depenency-injection here. So I will have to refactor the constructor to something like: void MyClass( Composition composition ) { m_Composition = composition; } However I get a problem now, since the Composition-object relies on the object of type MyClass which is just created. Can a dependency container resolve this? Is it supposed to do so? Or is it just bad design from the beginning on?

  • How can I add an event handler to an event by name?

    - by cyclotis04
    I'm attempting to add an event handler for every control on my form. The form is a simple info box which pops up, and clicking anywhere on it does the same thing (sort of like Outlook's email notifier.) To do this, I've written a recursive method to add a MouseClick handler to each control, as follows: private void AddMouseClickHandler(Control control, MouseEventHandler handler) { control.MouseClick += handler; foreach (Control subControl in control.Controls) AddMouseClickHandler(subControl, handler); } However, if I wanted to add a handler for all of the MouseDown and MouseUp events, I'd have to write two more methods. I'm sure there's a way around this, but I can't find it. I want a method like: private void AddRecursiveHandler(Control control, Event event, EventHandler handler) { control.event += handler; foreach (Control subControl in control.Controls) AddRecursiveHandler(subControl, event, handler); }

  • Silverlight calling windows workflow foundation as a web service

    - by wissem
    hi, I'm trying to call a windows workflow foundation published as a web service from a Silverlight project. When I call it from a console application it works fine because I can add a web reference then I just make an instance of that webservice then I invoke the method I want. The problem is in the silverlight project cause i can just add a service reference so I find myself working with soap stuff that doesn't work at all, and here is the code: private void btnUpdate_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { xxxxxxx.Workflow1_WebServiceSoapClient zer = new xxxxx.Workflow1_WebServiceSoapClient(); zer.demanderSubmitReportCompleted += new EventHandler<xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.demanderSubmitReportCompletedEventArgs>(service2); zer.demanderSubmitReportAsync("zzz", 20000); } public void service2(object sender, xxxxx.demanderSubmitReportCompletedEventArgs e) { string a = e.Result; } plz help ,thanks

  • interface as a method parameter in Java

    - by PeterYu
    Hi all, I had an interview days ago and was thrown a question like this. Q: Reverse a linked list. Following code is given: public class ReverseList { interface NodeList { int getItem(); NodeList nextNode(); } void reverse(NodeList node) { } public static void main(String[] args) { } } I was confused because I did not know an interface object could be used as a method parameter. The interviewer explained a little bit but I am still not sure about this. Could somebody enlighten me?

  • Calling class in Java after editing file used in as source for table

    - by user2892290
    I'm currently working on a project, I'll try to subrscibe first. I save data into text file, that I use as a source for browser of that data. The browser is based on table that contains the data. I have to rewrite the source file everytime I delete or edit data. That's where the problem comes in. After deleting or editing data I call a method to create the table again, but the table never creates. Is it possibly made by editing the file and calling the method right after that? If I restart my app the table is successfully created with right data. Take in note that I don't get any error message. This is the method I use for loading data from source file: try (BufferedReader input1 = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("./src/data.src"))) { int lines = 0; while (input1.read() != -1) { if (!(input1.readLine()).equals("")) { lines++; } } input1.close(); if (lines == 0) { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "No data to load, create a note first!"); new Writer().build(frame); } else { try (BufferedReader input = new BufferedReader(new FileReader("./src/data.src"))) { Game[] g = new Game[lines]; String currentLine; String[] help; int counter = 0; while (lines > 0) { currentLine = input.readLine(); help = currentLine.split("#"); g[counter] = new Game(help[0],help[1], help[2], help[3], help[4], help[5], help[6], help[7], help[8], help[9]); counter++; lines--; } input.close(); final JButton bButton = new backButton().create(frame, mPanel); build(g, frame, bButton); mPanel.add(panel); mPanel.add(panel2); mPanel.add(searchPanel); mPanel.add(bButton); bButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { frame.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR)); panel.removeAll(); frame.setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor()); } }); mPanel.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000, 750)); panel.setBorder(new EmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10)); frame.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); frame.add(mPanel); frame.pack(); JMenuBar menuBar = new Menu().create(frame, mPanel); frame.setJMenuBar(menuBar); frame.setVisible(true); Rectangle rec = GraphicsEnvironment.getLocalGraphicsEnvironment().getMaximumWindowBounds(); int width = (int) rec.getWidth(); int height = (int) rec.getHeight(); frame.setBounds(1, 3, width, height); frame.addComponentListener(new ComponentAdapter() { @Override public void componentMoved(ComponentEvent e) { frame.setLocation(1, 3); } }); And this is the method I use for creating the table: String[][] tableData = new String[g.length][9]; for (int i = 0; i < tableData.length; i++) { tableData[i][0] = g[i].getChampion(); tableData[i][1] = g[i].getRole(); tableData[i][2] = g[i].getEnemy(); tableData[i][3] = g[i].getDifficulty(); tableData[i][4] = g[i].getResult(); tableData[i][5] = g[i].getScore(); tableData[i][6] = g[i].getGameType(); tableData[i][7] = g[i].getPoints(); tableData[i][8] = g[i].getLeague(); } final JLabel searchLabel = new JLabel("Search for champion played."); final JButton searchButton = new JButton("Search"); final JTextField searchText = new JTextField(20); frame.setTitle("LoL Notepad - reading your notes"); JTable table = new JTable(tableData, columnNames); final JScrollPane scrollPane = new JScrollPane(table); scrollPane.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(980, 500)); panel2.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(1000, 550)); panel2.setVisible(false); panel2.setBorder(new EmptyBorder(10, 10, 10, 10)); panel3.setVisible(false); panel.setLayout(new FlowLayout()); panel.add(scrollPane); searchPanel.add(searchLabel); searchPanel.add(searchText); searchPanel.add(searchButton); searchButton.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { @Override public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { try { frame.setCursor(Cursor.getPredefinedCursor(Cursor.WAIT_CURSOR)); search(g, searchText.getText(), frame, bButton); frame.setCursor(Cursor.getDefaultCursor()); } catch (IOException ex) { Logger.getLogger(Reader.class.getName()).log(Level.SEVERE, null, ex); } } }); table.addMouseListener(new MouseAdapter() { @Override public void mousePressed(MouseEvent e) { if (e.getClickCount() == 1) { JTable target = (JTable) e.getSource(); panel.setVisible(false); searchPanel.setVisible(false); bButton.setVisible(false); int row = target.getSelectedRow(); specific(row, g, frame, bButton); } } });

  • Can I compose a WCF callback contract out of multiple interfaces?

    - by mafutrct
    Followup question to http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2502930/how-can-i-compose-a-wcf-contract-out-of-multiple-interfaces. I tried to merge multiple callback interfaces in a single interface. This yields an InvalidOperationException claiming that the final interface contains no operations. Technically, this is true, however, the inherited interfaces do contain operations. How can I fix this? Or is this a limitation of WCF? Edit: interface A { [OperationContract]void X(); } interface B { [OperationContract]void Y(); } interface C: A, B {} // this is the public callback contract

  • WCF methods sharing a dictionary

    - by YeomansLeo
    I'm creating a WCF Service Library and I have a question regarding thread-safety consuming a method inside this library, here is the full implementation that I have until now. namespace WCFConfiguration { [ServiceBehavior(InstanceContextMode = InstanceContextMode.PerCall, ConcurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Single)] public class ConfigurationService : IConfigurationService { ConcurrentDictionary<Tuple<string,string>, string> configurationDictionary = new ConcurrentDictionary<Tuple<string,string>, string>(); public void Configuration(IEnumerable<Configuration> configurationSet) { Tuple<string, string> lookupStrings; foreach (var config in configurationSet) { lookupStrings = new Tuple<string, string>(config.BoxType, config.Size); configurationDictionary.TryAdd(lookupStrings, config.RowNumber); } } public void ScanReceived(string boxType, string size, string packerId = null) { } } } Imagine that I have a 10 values in my configurationDictionary and many people want to query this dictionary consuming ScanReceived method, are those 10 values be shared for each of the clients that request ScanReceived? Do I need to change my ServiceBehavior? The Configuration method is only consumed by one person by the way.

  • .Net - interop assemblies taking 15 seconds to load when being referenced in a function

    - by Jon
    This is a C# console application. I have a function that does something like this: static void foo() { Application powerpointApp; Presentation presentation = null; powerpointApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.PowerPoint.ApplicationClass(); } That's all it does. When it is called there is a fifteen second delay before the function gets hit. I added something like this: static void MyAssemblyLoadEventHandler(object sender, AssemblyLoadEventArgs args) { Console.WriteLine(DateTime.Now.ToString() + " ASSEMBLY LOADED: " + args.LoadedAssembly.FullName); Console.WriteLine(); } This gets fired telling me that my interop assemblies have been loaded about 10 milliseconds before my foo function gets hit. What can I do about this? The program needs to call this function (and eventually do something else) once and then exit so I need for these assemblies to be cached or something. Ideas?

  • Can't record or play with a simple recorder?

    I have 2 classes, a record and a player. In my main scene, I create an instance of them and play and record. But, as I see, it only records and somehow does not play (the file is not there!) Here is the code for both : -(void)record { NSArray *dirPaths; NSString *docsDir; NSString *sound= @"sound0.caf" ; dirPaths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) ; docsDir = [dirPaths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *soundFilePath = [docsDir stringByAppendingPathComponent:sound]; NSURL *soundFileURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundFilePath]; NSDictionary *settings = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithFloat: 44100.0], AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: kAudioFormatAppleLossless], AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: 1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: AVAudioQualityMax], AVEncoderAudioQualityKey, nil]; NSError *error; myRecorder = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:soundFileURL settings:settings error:&error]; if (myRecorder) { NSLog(@"rec"); [myRecorder prepareToRecord]; myRecorder.meteringEnabled = YES; [myRecorder record]; } else NSLog( @"error" ); } I can see the log of rec. -(void)play { NSArray *dirPaths; NSString *docsDir; dirPaths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES); docsDir = [dirPaths objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *soundFilePath1 = @"sound0.caf" ; NSURL *soundFileURL = [NSURL fileURLWithPath:soundFilePath1]; BOOL isMyFileThere = [[NSFileManager defaultManager] fileExistsAtPath:soundFilePath1]; if(isMyFileThere) { NSLog(@"PLAY"); avPlayer1 = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:soundFileURL error:NULL]; avPlayer1.volume = 8.0; avPlayer1.delegate = self; [avPlayer1 play]; } } I DONT SEE THE LOG OF PLAY ! I call them both with: recInst=[recorder alloc]; //to rec [recInst record]; plyInst=[player alloc]; //play [plyInst play]; and to stop the recorder: - (void)stopRecorder { NSLog(@"stopRecordings"); [myRecorder stop]; //[myRecorder release]; } What's wrong here? Thanks.

  • Which Java library lets me initialize an object's properties from a properties file?

    - by Kjetil Ødegaard
    Is there a Java library that lets you "deserialize" a properties file directly into an object instance? Example: say you have a file called init.properties: username=fisk password=frosk and a Java class with some properties: class Connection { private String username; private String password; public void setUsername(String username) { this.username = username; } public void setPassword(String password) { this.password = password; } } I want to do this: Connection c = MagicConfigurator.configure("init.properties", new Connection()) and have MagicConfigurator apply all the values from the properties file to the Connection instance. Is there a library with a class like this?
