• What is my problem with ASP.NET pubslishing?

  I am done testing my site and I want to upload it to a site like this http://www.university.edu/mydepartment/myname the admin told me the server runs on .NET 3.5. So i used Linq ... now i tried to upload the site by two ways: when i just copy everything (with modification of web.config database settings) i get an error: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'DataClassesDataContext' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:2.0.50727.3082; ASP.NET Version:2.0.50727.3082 Note here it says version 2.0 did he just lie to me? or its my configuration mistake? anyway, i added the reference, nothing changes. I tried also publishing (Build, publish) with option to keep the pre-comiled site updatable, and I get one line saying: this is a makefile and should be deleted! what is going on?

• Applet problem with IPlanet and Firefox (class not found)

  I have an applet which loads nicely when accessed locally (both IE and Firefox). However, when I put my webpage in a webserver (local IPlanet), it refuses to load on Firefox (but still fine on IE).   Ok, so I've got an SQLiteOpenHelper that prepares and returns a SQLiteDatabase object; this is written singleton-pattern, so the database is opened once and only closed when the Activity closes. From there I have three database wrappers encapsulating the queries (some returning cursors to datasets, some inserting data) used by the Activity. I want to insert data from one View, then have that automatically update in another View on the same Dialogue. I'm writing this on a notepad and testing on the phone (since the emulator crashes the notepad...), so I can't pull up stacktraces atm. So questions: 1) are there limitations to writing to a database, when there are cursors open on the database? 2) Does a Cursor.requery()? call update the ListView with the cursor as a data connector?

  Because IE won't do document.getElementById(ID).setAttribute('type','password') I've re-engineered the way the password field woirks on this site: http://devdae.dialanexchange.com/Default.aspx so it works in accordance with this idea: http://www.folksonomy.org/2009/01/12/changing-input-type-from-text-to-password-in-internet-explorer-hack/ It works fine in IE8 and FF3. It breaks in IE7 just as you click into the password field. I'm now tearing my hair out. Can anyone give me a clue what's wrong as IE7's diagnosis is just "Object expected, code 0"?

  When you get this error, the first thing you ask is, which column? Unfortunately, SQL Server is no help here. So you start doing trial and error. Well, right now I have a statement like: INSERT tbl (A, B, C, D, E, F, G) SELECT A, B * 2, C, D, E, q.F, G FROM tbl ,othertable q WHERE etc etc Note that Some values are modified or linked in from another table, but most values are coming from the original table, so they can't really cause truncation going back to the same field (that I know of). Eliminating fields one at a time eventually makes the error go away, if I do it cumulatively, but — and here's the kicker — it doesn't matter which fields I eliminate. It's as if SQL Server is objecting to the total length of the row, which I doubt, since there are only about 40 fields in all, and nothing large. Anyone ever seen this before? Thanks. UPDATE: I have also done "horizontal" testing, by filtering out the SELECT, with much the same result. In other words, if I say WHERE id BETWEEN 1 AND 100: Error WHERE id BETWEEN 1 AND 50: No error WHERE id BETWEEN 50 AND 100: No error I tried many combinations, and it cannot be limited to a single row.

• SSH Password/User problem with Cygwin sshd service

  hello I just set up SSHd through Cygwin on a Windows XP Pro box overseas using a RAT and discluded the openssh package from the install. I ran the cywin shell (from c:\cywin) and ran Now, It's under a port I know is safe and fowarded properly, but I won't share it's number. It's not a common port, but it's under 40000. Firewalls are off etc etc. I'm on the first Admin account made on the box. (It's full admin) I've run the following commands chmod +r /etc/passwd chmod +r /etc/group hmod 777 /var /*Created New Admin User Account To Be Used via SSH*/ mkpasswd -cl > /etc/passwd mkgroup --local > /etc/group I can connect locally, but not externally. I know my ports etc are fine. Any possible problems, as i really need this tunnel up :P

  Hi all! I'm working on a small project in regards of the upcoming World Cup. I'm building a roster/leaderboard/scoredboard based on groups with national teams. The idea is to have information on all upcoming matches within the group or in the knockout phase (scores, time of the match, match stats etc.). Currently I'm stuck with the DB in that I can't come up with a query that would return paired teams in a row.
