• vs10 not deploying all required files - then not over-writing updated files

  I'm in the habit of deploying to alternating folders (/inetpub/wwwroot/mySite & /inetpub/wwwroot/mySite2) so if something unexpected happens with the deploy i can quickly swap back to a previous version just by changing the path in IIS So i was deploying an MVC2 webapp to a empty folder figuring that VS would send up all the files it needs. Not even close. Initially, it didn't even upload a couple required nHibernate.dlls. Later, after manually copying files referenced in the thrown exceptions, i just copied all the files from the previous compile and then re-published over the top expecting VS to over-write the changed files. Failed that too. No reports of errors by VS....just failed to over-write a number of pre-existing (but changed/updated) files. Hard to believe these kinds of errors (and lack of feedback that errors were encountered) in a state of the art tool like VS. Clearly, I'm doing something wrong. I'm using VisualSVN for source control and connect to my colocated server via a VPN-based mapped network drive (so I can use FileSystem to publish). (both of which can complicate file properties) VS08 had more choices for which files it would send up - i found i needed to use the 'All files in source' on an initial deployment, the 'Replace Matching'. If I choose 'delete all existing...' I'd be back to square 1 and have to deploy with the 'All files in source project folder'. But VS10 doesn't have the 'All files in source project folder. I ended up manually copying the files - which seems not right in the extreme. Are these known issues others have to deal with? What's best practice for deploying a web-app? thx

• find and replace values in a flat-file using PHP

  I'd think there was a question on this already, but I can't find one. Maybe the solution is too easy... Anyway, I have a flat-file and want to let the user change the values based on a name. I've already sorted out creating new name+value-pairs using the fopen('a') mode, using jQuery to send the AJAX call with newValue and newName. But say the content looks like this: host|http:www.stackoverflow.com folder|/questions/ folder2|/users/ And now I want to change the folder value. So I'll send in folder as oldName and /tags/ as newValue. What's the best way to overwrite the value? The order in the list doesn't matter, and the name will always be on the left, followed by a |(pipe), the value and then a new-line. My first thought was to read the list, store it in an array, search all the [0]'s for oldName, then change the [1] that belongs to it, and then write it back to a file. But I feel there is a better way around this? Any ideas? Maybe regex?

  I'm building an ember.js app which has a model called "Programme". The problem I have is as both generated routes are called ProgrammeRoute when I linkTo the programme route inside the list template, it actually goes to the programme route nested in the subgenre route. What should I be doing here? To work around it I've named one route ListProgrammeRoute and SubgenreProgrammeRoute but that leads to some duplication.

• How to compile Open Flash Chart v.1?

  Let me just say, that I'm a total beginner in anything related to flash. I would like to compile latest version of OFC1 (v.1.9.7). It can be downloaded here: link. Unfortunately no tutorial of how to do it can be found anywhere. I succeeded in compiling OFC2 (v.Lug-Wyrm-Charmer). I installed FlashDevelop, then I found .proj file in the OFC2 package, opened it in FlashDevelop and built the project. It worked fine (although I had to fix some code errors, but it was simple). Unfortunately there is no project file in OFC1 package. I tried to create a new project (Project-New Project-AS3 Project). It created .proj file and few folders (src,bin...). I deleted 'Main.as' from 'src' folder. Then I copied all files from 'actionscript' folder from OFC1 to 'src' project folder. I opened the project and set 'open-flash-char.as' as Document Class (right click on the file in the project tree and 'Set Document Class'). Then I tried to build the project, but got an syntax error with (in 'open-flash-char.as'): #include "prototype.drawCircle.as" #include "prototype.fillCircle.as" #include "String.prototype.replace.as" So I removed "#" signs. But then I got an error ...\ofc1\projtest4\src\open-flash-chart.as: Error: A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package. I have no idea of how to continue. Maybe I'm doing everything wrong, because OFC1 is written in AS2 (probably), not AS3. I don't know. So my question is: How to compile OFC v.1.9.7?

  I could do with some pointers, code examples or references that may help me do the following in an msbuild file to help speed up the deployment process.. This scenario involves getting a developers 'local' version onto a 'development' server.. Increment a developers local Web Applications Assembly version number Publish a developers local Web Application files somewhere .rar the publsihed files or folder into the format v[IncrementedAssemblyNumber].rar Copy the .rar to somewhere Backup (.rar) the existing live website folder (located elsewhere) in the format Pre_v[IncrementedAssemblyNumber].rar Move the backed up .rar to a /Backup folder. Overwrite the development web files with the published local web files Should be simple for all those MSBUILD Gurus out there. Like I said, answers or 'Good and applicable' links would be much appreciated. Also i'm thinking of getting one of the MSbuild books. From what I can tell there are 2, possibly 3 contenders. I am not using TFS. Can anyone recommend a book for beginning MSBUILD? Ideally from people that have read more than one book on the subject. Cheers, -- Lee

• How to get height for NSAttributedString at a fixed width

  I want to do some drawing of NSAttributedStrings in fixed-width boxes, but am having trouble calculating the right height they'll take up when drawn. So far, I've tried: Calling - (NSSize) size, but the results are useless (for this purpose), as they'll give whatever width the string desires. Calling - (void)drawWithRect:(NSRect)rect options:(NSStringDrawingOptions)options with a rect shaped to the width I want and NSStringDrawingUsesLineFragmentOrigin in the options, exactly as I'm using in my drawing. The results are ... difficult to understand; certainly not what I'm looking for. (As is pointed out in a number of places, including this Cocoa-Dev thread). Creating a temporary NSTextView and doing: [[tmpView textStorage] setAttributedString:aString]; [tmpView setHorizontallyResizable:NO]; [tmpView sizeToFit]; When I query the frame of tmpView, the width is still as desired, and the height is often correct ... until I get to longer strings, when it's often half the size that's required. (There doesn't seem to be a max size being hit: one frame will be 273.0 high (about 300 too short), the other will be 478.0 (only 60-ish too short)). I'd appreciate any pointers, if anyone else has managed this.

• Moving .NET assemblies away from the application base directory?

  I have a WinForms application with a bunch of third party references. This makes the output folder quite messy. I'd like to place the compiled / referenced dlls into a common subdirectory in the output folder, bin / lib - whatever - and just have the executables (+ needed configs etc) reside in the output folder. After some searching I ran into assembly probing (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/4191fzwb.aspx) - and verified that if I set this up and manually move the assemblies my application will still work if they are stored in the designated subdirectory like so: <configuration> <runtime> <assemblyBinding xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1"> <probing privatePath="bin" /> </assemblyBinding> </runtime> </configuration> However, this doesn't solve the build part - is there any way to specify where referenced assemblies and compiled library assemblies go? Only solutions I can think of off the top of my head is either post-build actions or dropping the idea and using ILMerge or something. There has got to be a better way of defining the structure :-)

• Problems importing WAR files in Eclipse?

  I was unfortunately forced to result to uploading a WAR file as my backup for a web application I am working on. Luckily I have the most recent WAR file available. I am using Eclipse IDE and am using the Web Tools plugin for all the J2EE work that I am doing with the Dynamic Web Application Project. When I imported my WAR file, and ran it on a local server, everything works fine. The problem I a ran into is that in the Java Resources/src folder that all my packages and .java files were now only consists of all the same packages, but they are empty. I checked to see if I could find the files and I found the .class files in an "Imported files" folder that is not accessible in the Eclipse Project Explorer. I believe that I need to do some type of build or something so that my .java files are available for me, but unfortunately this is one area where I lack. One thing I would also like to know is, one way or the other, am I able to obtain the .java source code files if I have access to the .class files? Also, I would like to configure this environment as it was before where my Java Resources:src folder contaiend the packages and .java files.

• Why is Chrome miscalculating jQuery submenu dimensions?

  I'm trying to implement this dropdown menu with flyouts: http://jsfiddle.net/chunkymonkey/fr6x4/ In Chrome certain categories can be expanded to show their subcategories while others show nothing when opened up. For example: Alternative Rock can be expanded to show its multiple subcategories . . . BUT . . . World Music, which has as many subcategories, shows no subcategories when expanded. • Limiting ssh user account only to access his home directory!

  By reading some tutorials online I used these commands: Make a local group: net localgroup CopsshUsers /ADD Deny access to this group at top level: cacls c:\ /c /e /t /d CopsshUsers Open access to the copSSH installation directory: cacls copssh-inst-dir /c /e /t /r CopsshUsers Add Copssh user to the group above: net localgroup CopsshUsers mysshuser /add simply put these commands will try to create a usergroup that has no permission on your computer and it only have access to the copSSH Installation directory. This is not true, since you cannot change the permission on your windows directory, the third command won't remove access to windows folder (it says access denied on his log). Somehow I achieved that by taking ownership of Windows folder and then i execute the third command so CopsshUsers has no permissions on windows folder from now on. Now i tried to SSH to the server and it simply can't login! this is kind of funny because with permission on windows directory you can login and without it you can't!! So if you CAN SSH to the server somehow you know that you have access to the windows directory! (Is this really true??) Simple task: Limiting ssh user account only to access his home directory on WINDOWS and nothing else! Guys please help!

• Images in Applet not showing in web page

  I am trying to display a JPEG image and a moving dot on a Java applet which I am using on a web based application. However, when I run the applet it works fine, but when I display the applet from the JSP page, I get the moving dot but not the JPEG image. Is there a specific folder where the JPEG needs to be? The applet loads fine however the picture doesn't display. I think it's not the code but the location of the picture that is causing a problem. Thanks

• Perl Module from relative path not working in IIS6

  Disclaimer: I am not a PERL developer and am learning by the seat of my pants. I am using a Perl module called from a CGI scipt in IIS 6 that is bombing. The identical folder structure on an XP machine (IIS 5.1) works fantastic. If I remove the module loading command at line 9, it will print "about to load" and "ok", but When I try to run use Language::Guess; I receive The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. in the browser. The folder structure is /cgi-bin/test.pl /PerlModules/Language/Guess.pm I have tried adjusting the file/folder permissions and have reviewed my IIS configuration time and again. It runs fine from the command line on the IIS machine or if I copy the module into \Perl\site\lib, but I don't have permission to load modules on the shared server this script is destined for. Am I missing something simple?   I have an application that is on .net 2.0 and I am having some difficult with it as I am more use to linq. How could I count how many "file" ELEMENTS I have (count them before entering the foreach ofc) and read their attributes ? I need the count because it will be used to update the progress bar. Overall it is not reading my xml very well.

  hi I have created a jar inside this folder: '/usr/local/bin/niidle.jar' in eclipse. And I have another jar inside /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar. In my niidle.jar file,there is one 'lib' folder and in that 'lib' folder,there is another jar file 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar'. I have added this 'hector-0.6.0-17.jar' file in MANIFEST.MF as follows: Manifest-Version: 1.0 Main-Class: com.ensarm.niidle.web.scraper.NiidleScrapeManager Class-Path: hector-0.6.0-17.jar But when I run this using command: >>java -jar /usr/local/bin/niidle.jar arguments... It is not working.. • UITouch Events and Table Views

  I'm working on a navigation-based iPhone-only app that serves two main purposes: One, to present data in a hierarchical view, allowing users to drill down and eventually edit said data, and, two, to all users to perform a default action when the table view cell is tapped. I now need to offer a small set of options tied to the same data; however, both the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: and accessoryButtonTappedForRowAtIndexPath: methods are obviously taken. So, my options seem to be to implement a double-tap method, wherein the small list of additional options would be presented after (you guessed it) a double-tap on said table row; or, preferably, a tap-and-hold method. From what I can tell, tap-and-hold seems like the way to go in SDK 4.0 - which does me no good right this red-hot minute. I decided to go with the double-tap option, but I'm having a little trouble. First and foremost, the touchesBegan:withEvent: method does not seem to be getting called at all; a breakpoint placed within the method is never called while the application runs, and the table view responds exactly as it did before I inserted the method (which is to say, it performs the default action): - (void)touchesBegan:(NSSet *)touches withEvent:(UIEvent *)event { UITouch *aTouch = [touches anyObject]; if (aTouch.tapCount == 2) { [NSObject cancelPreviousPerformRequestsWithTarget:self]; } } Second, I don't really need to handle a single-tap - the didSelectRowAtIndexPath: method can handle the single-tap just fine. The double-tap is the funky one I want to handle. I suspect the answer is going to contain the phrase, "You can't have the table view handle the single-tap and the touchesBegan: method handle the double-tap. The touch handling methods have to handle all of them." I would really appreciate some guidance from some of you who've dealt with this issue. Thanks in advance.

  I have a rake file that does a series of calculations on a database. Basically it adds usage on equipment regularly. At the end of the day it needs to add that days total to a monthly total table and update that same table. i use the following simple concepts: To get data from the database is pretty simple: @usages = Usage.find(:all) time = Time.new for usage in @usages sql = ActiveRecord::Base.connection To insert it into the database: sql.execute "INSERT (or UPDATE) into usages ## add values and options as per MySQL But how do I: take a column from a database, add all of its values together that have a common value in another column, (i.e. if column x == value y) and then insert it into another column in another table, say dailyusages? • Second Thread Holding Up Entire Program in C# Windows Form Application

  In my windows form application, I'm trying to test the user's ability to access a remote machine's shared folder. The way I'm doing this (and I'm sure that there are better ways...but I don't know of them) is to check for the existence of a specific directory on the remote machine (I'm doing this because of firewall/other security restrictions that I'm confronted with in my organization). If the user has rights to access the shared folder, then it returns in no time at all, but if they don't, it hangs forever. To solve this, I threw the check into another thread and wait only 1000 milliseconds before determining that the share can't be hit by the user. However, when I do this, it still hangs as if it was never run in the same thread. What is making it hang and how do I fix it? I would think that the fact that it is in a separate thread would allow me to just let the thread finish on it's own in the background. • How can I see which shared folders my program has access to?

  My program needs to read and write to folders on other machines that might be in another domain. So I used the System.Runtime.InteropServices to add shared folders. This worked fine when it was hard coded in the main menu of my windows service. But since then something went wrong and I don't know if it is a coding error or configuration error. What is the scope of a shared folder? If a thread in my program adds a shared folder, can the entire local machine see it? Is there a way to view what shared folders has been added? Or is there a way to see when a folder is added? • Create a new app pool and assign it to a site subfolder on a remote host, using C# and IIS7

  I have a web site running on IIS7 on a remote server. I would like to do the following: Create a new subfolder under the root virtual directory. Create a new app pool. Add this new app pool to the new subfolder Normally, I would do this manually in IIS by first creating the app pool, and then right-clicking the sub folder an choose "add application", but I need to do this programmatically in C#. I've managed to make the above points 1 and 2 work, but I can't find the way to adding the application to the sub folder. • Strange Behaviour in Swift: constant defined with LET but behaving like a variable defined with VAR

  Stuck on the below for a day! Any insight would be greatly appreciated. The constant in the first block match0 behaves as expected. [Problem: sounds like science fiction & then why does match0 behave so well?] Could there be a bug in the Swift compiler? [Problem: Experience has taught me that this is very very very rarely the solution to your problem...but it is still in beta]

• Android - Read PNG image without alpha and decode as ARGB_8888

  I try to read an image from sdcard (in emulator) and then create a Bitmap image with the BitmapFactory.decodeByteArray method. I set the options: options.inPrefferedConfig = Bitmap.Config.ARGB_8888 options.inDither = false Then I extract the pixels into a ByteBuffer. ByteBuffer buffer = ByteBuffer.allocateDirect(width*height*4) bitmap.copyPixelsToBuffer(buffer) I use this ByteBuffer then in the JNI to convert it into RGB format and want to calculate on it. But always I get false data - I test without modifying the ByteBuffer. Only thing I do is to put it into the native method into JNI. Then cast it into a unsigned char* and convert it back into a ByteBuffer before returning it back to Java. unsigned char* buffer = (unsinged char*)(env->GetDirectBufferAddress(byteBuffer)) jobject returnByteBuffer = env->NewDirectByteBuffer(buffer, length) Before displaying the image I get data back with bitmap.copyPixelsFromBuffer( buffer ) But then it has wrong data in it. My Question is if this is because the image is internally converted into RGB 565 or what is wrong here? ..... Have an answer for it: - yes, it is converted internally to RGB565. Does anybody know how to create such an bitmap image from PNG with ARGB8888 pixel format? If anybody has an idea, it would be great!

• How can i get HWND of external application's listview? In Windows Api using c++

  So i am trying to make app to get content of my explorer listviews and get item text etc.. from it but here are the problems... If i inspect windows explorer folder(using spy++) with listview, just for testing purposes i will use random folder. It shows me that caption of the window is "FolderView" with class "SysListView32" and the top level window where this listview is nested is called "reference", this is also the title of windows explorer folder where all the files are. So what i do is.. HWND hWndLV = FindWindow(NULL, TEXT("reference")); // first i get hwnd of the main window, this is where listview window is also nested according to spy++, thats why i do this first. HWND child = FindWindowEx(hWndLV, NULL,NULL,TEXT("FolderView")); // trying to get hwnd of the listview here but it fails, same happens if i also put the class name along as HWND child = FindWindowEx(hWndLV, NULL,TEXT("SysListView32"),TEXT("FolderView")); I am using bool test = IsWindow(child); to test for fail, also VS debugger shows 0x0000000000 each time so i am sure i am reading results well. So i am stuck on this probably simple thing for most of people:( p.s. i am on vista64(if that matters anyhow) edit: It appears that this function works only if i search the first nested level of a parent window i am searching. So i assume what i need is a way to get handle with some sort of deep nested level search. I also tried to go step by step by defining hwnd of every parent then i use findwindowex on it but oh boy then i get to the point where there are 5 nested windows all with the same name and only one of them contains my listview, so nice uh?
