There are 10 000s (up to 40000) of items in my database and it takes very long time when script runs (1 hour and more) until finish. How can I take data I need from database and save it to file "at once"? (as quick as possible? I don't need xml output because I can process data from output on my server later. I just need to do it as quickly as possible. Any idea?) Many thanks!

  I would like hear how other's are effectively (or not) working with the Visual Studio Entity Designer when many database tables exists. It seems to me that navigating the Designer is tough enough to find what you are looking for with just a few tables but how about a database with say 100 to 200 tables? When a table change is made at the database level how is the model updated? Does it overwrite any manual changes you have made to the model? How would you quickly find an entity in the designer to make a change or inspect a change? Seems unrealistic to be scrolling around looking for specific entity. Thanks for your feedback!

  A few years ago there was a PHP script around called paFileDB. Essentially it created a database of files that end users could download and rate. It would keep track of the number of downloads as well. I am looking for a replacement of this coded in ASP.net C#. For the last week I have been searching around for "asp.net C# file database" and have just gotten how to upload files to a database. I have also search with some other terms. I do not need a full blown CMS like DotNetNuke or SharePoint. All I have been looking for is a system I could easily add to my existing .net C# site. I have thought about coding one myself, but with me being rather busy at work and this being a personal project, I simply do not have the time to code this myself. I hope that you guys can help.   Hi, I am working to develop a JMS application(stand alone multithreaded java application) which can receive 100 messages at a time , they need to be processed and database procedures need to be called for inserting/updating data. Procedures are very heavy as validations are also performed in them. Each procedure is taking about 30 to 50 seconds of time to execute and they are capable to run concurrently. My concern is to execute 100 procedures for all 100 messages and also send reply within time limit of 90 seconds by jms application. No application server to be used(requirement) and database is Teradata (RDBMS) I am using connection pool and thread pool in java code and testing code with 90 connections. Question is : (1) What should be the limit on number of connections with database at a time? (2) How many threads at a time are recommended? Thanks, Jyoti

  Here is my situation. I have model called Account. An account can have one or more contracts. The problem is that i'm dealing with a legacy application and each account's contracts are stored in a different database. Example: Account 1's contract are in account1_db.contracts. Account 2's contract are in account2_db.contracts. The database name is a field stored in accounts table. How can i make rails association work with this? This is a legacy PHP application and i simply can't change it to store everything in one table. I need to make it work somehow. I tried this, but it didn't worked: has_many :contracts, :conditions => [lambda{ Contract.set_table_name(self.database + '.contracts'); return '1' }] Any ideas?

  Hello there, I have a website where documents are saved in xml documents, all with the same structure. I need a search engine where I am able to choose documents with the highest relevance according to the key words given by a searching user. I thought it could (?) be a good idea to have one using XQuery rather than having the information stored twice (in XML docs + mysql database) and querying the mysql database for relevance searches.   I have a music related ASP.NET web site which caches a lot of static information from the database on the first request. Sometimes, the application is reset and cache is cleared while the application is on heavy load and then all http requests go to the database to retrieve that static data and cache it for other requests. How can I ensure that only one request go to the database and cache the results, so that other request simply read that info from cache and not needlessly retrieve the same info over and over again. Can I use thread locking? For example, can I do something like lock(this) { db access here }?

  Let's say I have 2500 MyModel entities in my datastore, and I run this code: query = MyModel.all() first_batch = query.fetch(2000) len(first_batch) # 2000 next_query = MyModel.all().with_cursor(query.cursor()) next_batch = next_query.fetch(2000) What do you think len(next_batch) is? 500, right? Nope - it's 1500. Apparently the query cursor never moves forward by more than 1000, even when the query itself returns more than 1000 entities. Should I do something different or is it just an App Engine bug?

  I simply would like to upload a file to my database using ColdFusion. I understand how to upload an image to a directory, but I would like to place it directly in the database. I have set a database field to varbinary(MAX) to accept the image and have the stored procedure to insert it.   Hi All, I'm currently working on trying to integrate a site with Plesk via the XML API and I've run into a bit of an issue. I've managed to get most things working but I'm trying to add a database to a domain and I keep getting an error. When creating the database I extract a list of Domain Accounts associated with the current clients account, and use the domain guid that is returned in the XML to try and create the new database, but Plesk is returning an error stating that the id I am using is not a valid id. I've looked at the documentation and it is saying that the domain ID that I should be sending is an integer, but the only ID I can find for the domain is the guid, which is a string. Anyone done anything like this before and know where I can get the ID from?

  I have a Crystal 2008 report that will be deployed to an InfoView server. There are four different databases the user might want to execute the report against. Each of the four databases have exactly the same schema. Only the data in each is different. Each database corresponds to a plant we have around the world. Instead of creating four different reports (each one connected to one of the four databases), am I able to dynamically change the server/database the report hits based on a value the user enters into a parameter? I'm really trying to avoid having to create four identical reports except for the database connection on each. If this isn't possible, how do developers typically deal with this sort of scenario? I would imagine it's fairly common. Thanks very much.

• SQL 2008 Select Top 1000 and update the selected database drop-down

  When you right click and do a Select top 1000 rows from a table in sql 2008, it opens a tab and writes the sql and then executes it. This is okay, however I'll erase the sql and use the same tab often to do other sql statements. What annoys me is that I have to go to the database drop-down at the top of the window and change it to the current database I'm in because it says Master. How can I make sql 2008 update the selected database for this tab automatically when I right click a table and do select top 1000? On a side note, can I automatically hide the select statement that it generates and just show grid of results?

• MySQL Import Database Error because of Extended Inserts

  Hello all, I'm importing a 400MB(uncompressed) MySQL database. I'm using BIGDUMP, and I am getting this error: Stopped at the line 387. At this place the current query includes more than 300 dump lines. That can happen if your dump file was created by some tool which doesn't place a semicolon followed by a linebreak at the end of each query, or if your dump contains extended inserts. Please read the BigDump FAQs for more infos. I believe the file does contain Extended Inserts, however I have no way to regenerate the database as it has been deleted from the old server. How can I import this database or convert it to be imported? Thanks for any help. Best Nick EDIT: It appears the only viable answer is to separate the extended inserts, but I still need help figuring out how to split the file as the answer below suggests. Please help. Thank you.
