  • JavaScript setTimeout setInterval within one function

    - by dagoof
I think I might be overtired but I cannot for the life of me make sense of this, and I think it's due to a lack of knowledge of javascript var itv=function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts('interval'); }, 1000); } var tout=function(itv){ return setTimeout(function(){ sys.puts('timeout'); clearInterval(itv); }, 5500); } With these two functions I can call a=tout(itv()); and get a looping timer to run for 5.5 seconds and then exit, essentially. By my logic, this should work but it simply is not var dotime=function(){ return setTimeout(function(){ clearInterval(function(){ return setInterval(function(){ sys.puts("interval"); }, 1000); }); }, 5500); } any insight in this matter would be appreciated.

  • Correct XML serialization and deserialization of "mixed" types in .NET

    - by Stefan
My current task involves writing a class library for processing HL7 CDA files. These HL7 CDA files are XML files with a defined XML schema, so I used xsd.exe to generate .NET classes for XML serialization and deserialization. The XML Schema contains various types which contain the mixed="true" attribute, specifying that an XML node of this type may contain normal text mixed with other XML nodes. The relevant part of the XML schema for one of these types looks like this: <xs:complexType name="StrucDoc.Paragraph" mixed="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="caption" type="StrucDoc.Caption" minOccurs="0"/> <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:element name="br" type="StrucDoc.Br"/> <xs:element name="sub" type="StrucDoc.Sub"/> <xs:element name="sup" type="StrucDoc.Sup"/> <!-- ...other possible nodes... --> </xs:choice> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="ID" type="xs:ID"/> <!-- ...other attributes... --> </xs:complexType> The generated code for this type looks like this: /// <remarks/> [System.CodeDom.Compiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("xsd", "2.0.50727.3038")] [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(TypeName="StrucDoc.Paragraph", Namespace="urn:hl7-org:v3")] public partial class StrucDocParagraph { private StrucDocCaption captionField; private object[] itemsField; private string[] textField; private string idField; // ...fields for other attributes... /// <remarks/> public StrucDocCaption caption { get { return this.captionField; } set { this.captionField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("br", typeof(StrucDocBr))] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("sub", typeof(StrucDocSub))] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("sup", typeof(StrucDocSup))] // ...other possible nodes... public object[] Items { get { return this.itemsField; } set { this.itemsField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTextAttribute()] public string[] Text { get { return this.textField; } set { this.textField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlAttributeAttribute(DataType="ID")] public string ID { get { return this.idField; } set { this.idField = value; } } // ...properties for other attributes... } If I deserialize an XML element where the paragraph node looks like this: <paragraph>first line<br /><br />third line</paragraph> The result is that the item and text arrays are read like this: itemsField = new object[] { new StrucDocBr(), new StrucDocBr(), }; textField = new string[] { "first line", "third line", }; From this there is no possible way to determine the exact order of the text and the other nodes. If I serialize this again, the result looks exactly like this: <paragraph> <br /> <br />first linethird line </paragraph> The default serializer just serializes the items first and then the text. I tried implementing IXmlSerializable on the StrucDocParagraph class so that I could control the deserialization and serialization of the content, but it's rather complex since there are so many classes involved and I didn't come to a solution yet because I don't know if the effort pays off. Is there some kind of easy workaround to this problem, or is it even possible by doing custom serialization via IXmlSerializable? Or should I just use XmlDocument or XmlReader/XmlWriter to process these documents?

  • Getting AveragePower and PeakPower for a Channel in AVAudioRecorder

    - by Biranchi
Hi all, I am annoyed with this piece of code. I am trying to get the averagePowerForChannel and peakPowerForChannel while recording Audio, but every time i am getting it as 0.0 Below is my code for recording audio : NSMutableDictionary *recordSetting =[[NSDictionary alloc] initWithObjectsAndKeys:[NSNumber numberWithFloat: 22050.0], AVSampleRateKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: kAudioFormatLinearPCM], AVFormatIDKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: 1], AVNumberOfChannelsKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt: AVAudioQualityMax], AVEncoderAudioQualityKey, [NSNumber numberWithInt:32],AVLinearPCMBitDepthKey, [NSNumber numberWithBool:NO],AVLinearPCMIsBigEndianKey, [NSNumber numberWithBool:NO],AVLinearPCMIsFloatKey, nil]; recorder1 = [[AVAudioRecorder alloc] initWithURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:audioFilePath] settings:recordSetting error:&err]; recorder1.meteringEnabled = YES; recorder1.delegate=self; [recorder1 prepareToRecord]; [recorder1 record]; levelTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval: 0.3f target: self selector: @selector(levelTimerCallback:) userInfo: nil repeats: YES]; - (void)levelTimerCallback:(NSTimer *)timer { [recorder1 updateMeters]; NSLog(@"Peak Power : %f , %f", [recorder1 peakPowerForChannel:0], [recorder1 peakPowerForChannel:1]); NSLog(@"Average Power : %f , %f", [recorder1 averagePowerForChannel:0], [recorder1 averagePowerForChannel:1]); } What is the error in the code ???

  • What is the coolest thing you can do in <10 lines of simple code? Help me inspire beginners!

    - by Tom Ritter
I'm looking for the coolest thing you can do in a few lines of simple code. I'm sure you can write a Mandelbrot set in Haskell in 15 lines but it's difficult to follow. My goal is to inspire students that programming is cool. We know that programming is cool because you can create anything you imagine - it's the ultimate creative outlet. I want to inspire these beginners and get them over as many early-learning humps as I can. Now, my reasons are selfish. I'm teaching an Intro to Computing course to a group of 60 half-engineering, half business majors; all freshmen. They are the students who came from underprivileged High schools. From my past experience, the group is generally split as follows: a few rock-stars, some who try very hard and kind of get it, the few who try very hard and barely get it, and the few who don't care. I want to reach as many of these groups as effectively as I can. Here's an example of how I'd use a computer program to teach: Here's an example of what I'm looking for: a 1-line VBS script to get your computer to talk to you: CreateObject("sapi.spvoice").Speak InputBox("Enter your text","Talk it") I could use this to demonstrate order of operations. I'd show the code, let them play with it, then explain that There's a lot going on in that line, but the computer can make sense of it, because it knows the rules. Then I'd show them something like this: 4(5*5) / 10 + 9(.25 + .75) And you can see that first I need to do is (5*5). Then I can multiply for 4. And now I've created the Object. Dividing by 10 is the same as calling Speak - I can't Speak before I have an object, and I can't divide before I have 100. Then on the other side I first create an InputBox with some instructions for how to display it. When I hit enter on the input box it evaluates or "returns" whatever I entered. (Hint: 'oooooo' makes a funny sound) So when I say Speak, the right side is what to Speak. And I get that from the InputBox. So when you do several things on a line, like: x = 14 + y; You need to be aware of the order of things. First we add 14 and y. Then we put the result (what it evaluates to, or returns) into x. That's my goal, to have a bunch of these cool examples to demonstrate and teach the class while they have fun. I tried this example on my roommate and while I may not use this as the first lesson, she liked it and learned something. Some cool mathematica programs that make beautiful graphs or shapes that are easy to understand would be good ideas and I'm going to look into those. Here are some complicated actionscript examples but that's a bit too advanced and I can't teach flash. What other ideas do you have?

  • Use of "setTimeout()" in my jQuery Expression

    - by Aaron Salazar
I'm trying to add the JavaScript function setTimeout() to my jQuery expression. Without the setTimeout() my function loads a partial view with updated information when I enter text into my textbox. But, it loads the information with every keystroke. My logic is that if I can put in a timer then when the user stops typing, a second later the data is updated. As you can see I tried to put a setTimer() in but it doesn't seem to be working. $(function() { $('#DocId').live('keyup', function() { setTimeout(var styleValue = $(this).val(); $('#tableContent').load( '/CurReport/TableResults', { style: $(this).val()}), 1000); }), }); Thank you, Aaron

  • How to simulate a fake MouseOver on a Flash applet in a webpage?

    - by Mason Wheeler
I listen to internet radio at http://player.play.it/player/player.htm and it works pretty well, except for one minor issue. The Flash applet that runs the radio player has a timer on it, where if you don't move the mouse over the player every once in a while, it decides you're idle and shuts off the stream, even if you're not actually idle, but just working on something else with the radio player running in the background. Is there any way I can send a fake MouseOver message to this applet to keep it from cutting me off in the middle of a song, maybe with a GreaseMonkey script? I'm using Firefox.

Hi Friends, I want to do the following and am kind of stuck on these for a few days.... 1) I have used helloItemizedOverlay to add about 150 markers and it gets very very slow.....any idea what to do ? I was thinking about threads....(handler) ... 2) I was trying to draw poly lines ( I have encoded polylines, but have managed to decoded those) that move when I move the map..... 3) I was looking for some sort of a timer class that executes, say, every 1 minute or so.... 4) I was also looking for ways to clear the Google map from all the markers/lines etc.... Thanks a lot... :) - ahsan

  • Incorrect site usage report (Sharepoint)

    - by Jorge E. Barsoba
Hi... After restarting "Windows Sharepoint Services Timer" service the "Site usage report" shows only one day of activity (matches the day we restarted the service) while every other day has zeros. I took a look in the "\LOGS\" dir and is plenty of logs with the visit's information for the whole year! Why the usage report ignores it? I think maybe the log file of the day showed could have some kind of mark that the other ones doesn't... Thanks, Jorge.

  • C# Progressbar is not updated accurately in Vista or Windows7

    - by Samir
    private void timer1_Tick(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (this.progressBar1.Value >= 100) { this.timer1.Stop(); this.timer1.Enabled = false; } else { this.progressBar1.Value += 10; this.label1.Text = Convert.ToString(this.progressBar1.Value); } } Here I used a timer to update the progress bar value. It works fine in XP. But in Windows7 or Vista when the progress value is set to say 100 but the graphical progress is not 100! Searching some threads found that its for animation lag in Vista/Windows7. How to get rid of this thing? I don't want to loose the look and feel of Vista/Window7 using: SetWindowTheme(progressBar1.Handle, " ", " ");

  • Redraw balloon tip and tooltip in C#?

    - by Rryk
I wrote a C# application that is a simple countdown timer. I use it myself to keep track of cooking time (not to forget about boiling pasta) and other purposes. It works in the tray. When hovering the icon it shows remaining time as a tooltip. When clicked it shows remaining time in a balloon tip. I would like displayed time to be "ticking down", i.e. to update every second. How do I force update/redraw of the balloon and tool tip?

  • GridViews in ASP.net; C#

    - by user301802
    I am creating gridviews using C# and ASP.net ... I need help in creating 2 gridviews which they have same processID and getting data from different SQL tables in the same database..When I click on the one first row of the first gridview it should give me the list of files with the same processID and its details in the second gridview One process ID has many different xml files stored in it for example processID = 7A413EA4-8ECE-472D-92BE-F58C22E5C567 in the first gridview so all the xml files with the username, date, login date having the same processID in the second table should show up on selecting the row in the first table This is what I have so far done: <%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="FS_PS2FS._Default" % PS2FS Client                                                                                              " SelectCommand="SELECT [LOG_Id], [LOG_FileName], [LOG_Description], [LOG_Date], [LOG_ProcessId], [LOG_Details], [LOG_UserId] FROM [FS_LOG_PS2FS] ORDER BY [LOG_Date] DESC" </div> <asp:SqlDataSource ID="PS2FS_FS" runat="server" ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:FreightsmartWebConnection %>" SelectCommand="SELECT [P2FV_ID], [P2FV_MessageType], [P2FV_MessageText], [P2FV_FileName], [P2FV_ProcessId], [P2FV_CreateDate], [P2FV_CreateUser] FROM [FS_LOG_PS2FS_Validation] ORDER BY [P2FV_CreateDate] DESC"> </asp:SqlDataSource> &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; <asp:GridView ID="LogValidation_GridView" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" CellPadding="4" DataSourceID="PS2FS_FS" ForeColor="#333333" Height="300px" Width="940px" AllowPaging="True" HorizontalAlign="Center" PageSize="6" OnRowUpdated="LogValidation_GridView_RowUpdated" BorderColor="#999999"> <FooterStyle BackColor="#CCCCCC" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="Black" CssClass="normal" /> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_ProcessId" HeaderText="Process ID" SortExpression="P2FV_ProcessId" Visible="False" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_ID" HeaderText="ID" InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="P2FV_ID" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_MessageType" HeaderText="Message Type" SortExpression="P2FV_MessageType" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_MessageText" HeaderText="Message Text" SortExpression="P2FV_MessageText" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_FileName" HeaderText="File Name" SortExpression="P2FV_FileName" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_CreateDate" HeaderText="Create Date" SortExpression="P2FV_CreateDate" /> <asp:BoundField DataField="P2FV_CreateUser" HeaderText="Create User" SortExpression="P2FV_CreateUser" /> </Columns> <RowStyle BackColor="#F7F6F3" ForeColor="#333333" /> <SelectedRowStyle BackColor="#E2DED6" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="#333333" BorderStyle="Outset" CssClass="normal" Wrap="True" /> <PagerStyle HorizontalAlign="Center" ForeColor="Black" BackColor="#999999" /> <HeaderStyle BackColor="#006699" Font-Bold="True" ForeColor="White" /> <AlternatingRowStyle BackColor="White" ForeColor="#284775" /> <EditRowStyle BackColor="#999999" /> </asp:GridView> </form>

  • Microsecond (or one ms) time resolution on an embedded device (Linux Kernel)

    - by ChrisDiRulli
Hey guys, I have a kernel module I've built that requires at least 1 ms time resolution. I currently use do_gettimeofday() but I'm concerned that this won't work once I move my module to an embedded device. The device has a 180 Mz processor (MIPS) and the default HZ value in the kernel is 100. Thus using jiffies will only give me at best 10 ms resolution. That won't cut it. What I'd like to know is if do_gettimeofday() is based on the timer interrupt (HZ). Can it be guaranteed to provide at least 1 ms of resolution? Thanks!

  • synchronizing audio over a network

    - by sharkin
I'm in startup of designing a client/server audio system which can stream audio arbitrarily over a network. One central server pumps out an audio stream and x number of clients receives the audio data and plays it. So far no magic needed and I have even got this scenario to work with VLC media player out of the box. However, the tricky part seems to be synchronizing the audio playback so that all clients are in audible synch (actual latency can be allowed as long as it is perceived to be in sync by a human listener). My question is if there's any known method or algorithm to use for these types of synchronization problems (video is probably solved the same way). My own initial thoughts centers around synchronizing clocks between physical machines and thereby creating a virtual "main timer" and somehow aligning audio data packets against it. Some products already solving the problem: http://www.sonos.com http://netchorus.com/ Any pointers are most welcome. Thanks. PS: This related question seem to have died long ago.

  • Android: videocamera, limit length of videos taken

    - by AP257
I'm working in Android and starting the video camera activity using ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE. Is there any way I can limit the length (in time) of the videos the user can take? I think this is possible if you use MediaRecorder, but I don't really fancy doing that since it's so much more complicated than using the simple ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE. Current code: Intent videoCaptureIntent = new Intent(MediaStore.ACTION_VIDEO_CAPTURE); startActivityForResult(videoCaptureIntent,1); If it's not possible, does anyone know whether I could set a timer (TimerTask?) in Java and then show a Toast message after a certain length of time warning the user that they need to stop filming? (I'm a Java newbie, so I don't know if this is exactly what I need.)

  • [JavaScript] Continuous Progress Bar

    - by Goro
Hello, I am trying to find the best option to create a simple progress bar that I need to be triggered periodically from within another JavaScript script. Every few minutes, a timer would cause the progress bar to start going from 0 to 100%. Once it reaches 100%, the bar would reset to 0. I am trying to implement a smooth animated version of the bar, like this one: http://www.webappers.com/progressBar/. (I tried adapting this particular one but I could not get it to work the way I described) I am looking into the jQuery UI ProgressBar: Is it possible to use it in the manner I have described? Thank you.

  • Best Practise for Stopwatch in multi processors machine?

    - by Ahmed Said
I found a good question for measuring function performance, and the answers recommend to use Stopwatch as follows Stopwatch sw = new Stopwatch(); sw.Start(); //DoWork sw.Stop(); //take sw.Elapsed But is this valid if you are running under multi processors machine? the thread can be switched to another processor, can it? Also the same thing should be in Enviroment.TickCount. If the answer is yes should I wrap my code inside BeginThreadAffinity as follows Thread.BeginThreadAffinity(); Stopwatch sw = new Stopwatch(); sw.Start(); //DoWork sw.Stop(); //take sw.Elapsed Thread.EndThreadAffinity(); P.S The switching can occur over the thread level not only the processor level, for example if the function is running in another thread so the system can switch it to another processor, if that happens, will the Stopwatch be valid after this switching? I am not using Stopwatch for perfromance measurement only but also to simulate timer function using Thread.Sleep (to prevent call overlapping)

  • How to capture any key in X?

    - by cz-david
Hi, I am building an application for which I need to periodically get information about users keyboard. It is going to be user idle detection application. I have a fairly simple solution to periodically check if the mouse has been moved. But I can't figure any reasonable non root way to detect if the keyboard has been pressed. I was thinking about registering a hook every timer timeout and on any key press to unregister it. So if there is no key press for a long time then my program will know if the user is idle. Anyway, I couldn't find any global hooks for any key, including modifiers. Is there an easy way to do this? Or would someone have a better way to detect keyboard idleness? Thanks, David Polák

  • How to get scrollTop of page afer browser scrolled such page?

    - by Marco Demaio
I know how to get the scrollTop of a page, I use this simple JS function (code copied around): function GetScrolledTop() { //I never work in IE quirkmode, I always use DOCTYPE as 1st line, so I don't need to test for document.body.scrollTop return self['pageYOffset'] || document.documentElement.scrollTop; } This works and my problem is the following: I tried to add it in the page onload event <body onload="alert(GetScrolledTop());"> On page load I get ZERO (which make sense), but the problem is that I get ZERO even if I scroll the page and then reload it without touching the scrollbar. It seems like the browser does: loads page calls my GetScrolledTop() (so obviously shows ZERO) then scrolls the page to where it was before. Do you know how to get the scolledTop after the step 3? I mean how to get the scrolledTop AFTER the browser scrolled the page? (maybe without using a timer) Thanks!

  • How to create a Task Scheduler App.

    - by Mike
I have been task with (ha) creating an application that will allow the users to schedule a command line app we have with a parameter. So the command line app takes an xml and "runs it" So bottom line I either need to create a windows service or learn how to interact with the Task Scheduler service already running on the box (version 1 Xp /2003) At first I though it would be easy have a service run and when a job is submitted, calculate the time between now and run and set up a timer to wait that amount of time. This is better then checking every minute if it's time to run. Were I hit a wall is I relized I do not know how to communicate with a running windows service. Except maybe create a file with details and have the service with a file watcher to load the file and modify the schedule. So the underlying questions are how can I execute this psedo code from client serviceThatIsRunning.Add(Job) Or ineracting with the task schedule or creating .job files using c# 3.5

  • Flash video hiding the cursor on Mac OS X

    - by Tibor
I found a Core Graphics function, CGCursorIsVisible, that one can use to determine whether the mouse cursor is shown on screen. I have a small app that uses a timer to call that function a few times a second to see if the cursor is shown or hidden (as I found no way to get my app notified when the mouse cursor shown/hidden status changes). The above works correctly except… when the Flash browser plugin plays a video: the mouse cursor gets hidden after a few seconds of mouse inactivity but CGCursorIsVisible() still keeps telling me that the cursor is indeed shown as if nothing happened. What I need is to be able to tell, at any given moment, whether the mouse cursor is shown to the end user on any screen. Is there any way to do that even in the case of playing a video using the Flash plugin?

  • FLex MouseEvent doesn't fire when Mouse stays over element

    - by Tomaszewski
Hi, i'm trying to make a scrollable box, when a mouse enters and STAYS on "wrapper"'s area, "pubsBox" moves 10 pixels to the left. <mx:Canvas id="wrapper" height="80" width="750"> <mx:HBox id="pubsBox" horizontalGap="10" height="80" width="100%" /> </mx:Canvas> My problem is that I'm not sure how to make the MouseEvent.MOUSE_OVER work, to recognize that the mouse is still ON the area and so pubsBox should continue to move 10 pixels to the left every second. I understand that i have to use a Timer, but what I'm concerned about is the fact that I can't get Flex to recognize that the mouse is still OVER "wrapper" and continue firing the event. Any ideas?

  • Using Java to retrieve the CPU Usage for Window's Processes

    - by stjowa
Hello all, I am looking for a Java solution to finding the CPU usage for a running process in Windows. After looking around the web, there seems to be little information on a solution in Java. Keep in mind, I am not looking to find the CPU usage for the JVM, but any process running in Windows at the time. I am able to retrieve the memory usage in Java by using the exec("tasklist.exe ... ") to retrieve and parse process information. Although there is an aggregate CPU cycle timer for each process, I do not see a CPU usage column. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if possible, I would like to stay away from C libraries; however, if there is no other alternative, a solution by that means would be appropriate. Thanks a lot, Steve

  • Looking for an automated logging tool/library for .NET!

    - by tsocks
Hello, I'm looking for an library/tool for .NET that logs almost everything that happens in my C# application (Windows Form). The problem is that I'm delivering an application to a client (Windows XP) and after doing some task, that classic Microsoft error window appears: "ApplicationName has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience" I'm currently handling my application exceptions, but this is something external and I can't get anything from that error, so I would like any automated library that helps me with that. It would work if it logs each line of code executed, orr just log what line was executing before that error appeared, or something that could give me more info about that error. Thank you! P.S: It's a multithreaded application, and have to Timer controls (one for watching a folder every 5secs, and another for watching thread list...). I'm using Windows 7 here and everything seems to work ok.
