  • couldn't start a java application as a windows service

    I have written a java application which is a RMI server. I need to start rmiregistry to run this application and i also want my apllication to start automatically when the system starts. I have converted my application into a windows servise. When i try to start my service it shows this error Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly Is it because my program throws an exception when my application is started before the rmiregistry is started.

  • Problem in java.util.Set.addAll() method

    I have a java.util.Set<City> cities and I need to add cities to this set in 2 ways: By adding individual city (with the help of cities.add(city) method call) By adding another set of cities to this set (with the help of cities.addAll(anotherCitiesSet) method call) But the problem in second approach is that i don't know whether there were any duplicate cities in the anotherCitiesSet. I want to do some processing whenever a duplicate entry is tried to be entered in thecities set.

    Hi, Sorry, I'm quite new to Java. I've stumbled across HttpGet and HttpPost which seem to be perfect for my needs, but a little long winded. I have written a rather bad wrapper class, but does anyone know of where to get a better one? Ideally, I'd be able to do String response = fetchContent("http://url/", postdata); where postdata is optional. Thanks!

  • Java Packages in Seperate repository than others

    I was wondering if it's possible to have a java package setup using a different subversion repository than the rest. Ideally, I would probably go with a different library project, but in the case of BlackBerry, the 3rd party library linking does not work well, so I would like to just separate my UI package into a different repository than the rest so that I can control the UI better for different OS versions, but leave all the other packages the same. Is this possible?

  • Java: file write on finalize method

    In my understanding a singleton object will destroy only when the application is about to terminate. So in C++ I write a Singleton class to log my application and in that Singleton logger's destructor I log the time when my application was terminated. Things worked perfectly in C++. Now I want to have that same logger in Java, as in java there is no destructor so I implemented the finalize method for that singleton logger. But it seem that finalize method actually never get called. So, I add that System.runFinalizersOnExit(true); line, somewhere in my code (though I know it is deprecated) and that finalize method get called every time before termination of the app. But still there is a problem! If I try to write anything on file in that finalize method, It does not work, though System.out work without any problem! :( Can you guys help me on this problem?   • Running a Java program with input from a file

    I am writing a program that reads the input from a file and then prints it to the screen. When I run it without taking the input from the file, it works perfectly fine. However, every time I try to run it from the file it gives me an "Exception in thread "main" java.util.NoSuchElementException: No line found at" error that occurs every place the input is suppose to be read. I have no idea what is going on.

    java.util.zip sucks for stream compression. The longer you leave an Inflator/Deflator open without calling end(), the more native memory it uses up. This is a known issue: http://bugs.sun.com/view_bug.do?bug_id=4797189 which nobody seems to care about fixing. What is a good alternative? Preferably one that is free and is still actively supported by its developers.

  • Equivalent of IllegalArgumentException of Java in C++

    In Java if an input argument to a method is invalid, we can throw an IllegalArgumentException (which is of type RuntimeException). In C++, there is no notion of checked and unchecked exceptions. Is there a similar exception in standard C++ which can be used to indicate a runtime exception? Or is there a common style not in the standard but everyone follows in practice for a situation like this? Or, should I just create my own custom exception and throw it?

If speed is more important than the accuracy of these calculations, which one is best?
