  • How to create and remove an html hidden field using jquery?

    I am new to javascript and jquery so please bear with me. First of all here is my code so that you can test it to see whats wrong: http://jsfiddle.net/Lzw4e/1/ I want to create a new hidden field every time the user selects from the left <select> element and remove / destroy the hidden field when the user clicks the right <select> element. I used the jquery command $("<input type='hidden' value=selectedAddFootballPlayerId>"); but when I checked of firebug I can't see any hidden field being created. For removal of the hidden field I really don't know. Please help me. Thanks in advance.

  • How to inline compressed CSS in Rails with assets pipeline

    I'm trying to inline CSS into my layout. I'm currently using = Rails.application.assets.find_asset('embedded.css').body.html_safe However, the CSS returned is not compressed. I verified what .digest_path asset file exists, and is properly compressed. I can, of course, write a helper that will check if current on-disk compressed asset file exists for a given asset, and use it. However, I think find_asset actually compiles a CSS asset each time it is called -- not good in production. I hope a cleaner solution exists for this issue.

    I am trying to replace the html code inside the div 'resultsContainer' with the html of $response. The result of my unsuccessful code is that the contents of 'resultsContainer' remain and the html of $response shows up on screen as text rather than being parsed as html.     I'm developing a newsletter in asp.net that will be send to a large quantity of users, so each kilobyte that I can reduce will help a lot in the use of bandwidth consumption, what I do until know is write the aspx excluding some spaces between tags, and before render, i've renamed some controls ids to "-" to save more space. So now, the file has 50kb. I need a file with 25 Kb. Can anyone teach me any other way do save more space ? ps.: I Use 3 divs with some data, and 2 repeaters, one inside other, to generate a table with some data for me. thanks in advance

    Hi guys. I made a website using AJAX (with jquery) for the navigation. The pages of the site are sliding and I use remove() to destroy the old page. Every thing seems alright, but some times the browser crashes when he tries to remove the old page containing a Flash object. I suppose this is because Flash is still executing the Flash object. My question is simple. How do i remove this Flash's object for my page without having the browser crashing on my face ? Is there a way to stop the Flash execution before removing the object ? I would like to add a Java applet to the web page but I could not find the JSF component type to correspond to the <applet> tag. So My questions are - What is the JSF component type for an applet? How did you find it? (For similar future searches) Thanks! P.S - Just to be clear. An example: <h:PanelGroup> would be HtmlPanelGroup as a java object.

  • (HTML) PNG on top of another PNG - possible to eliminate full transparency?

    I'd like to put a logo png onto of another coloured png. They both have transparent backgrounds. When I try this the images blend together. Curiously, in Photoshop the logo retains its opaque-ness - I put colours on the layers underneath it, another image, etc etc, the logo is still opaque. I'd like to do it this way so I can rotate the background images. How do I fix this? [edit]I've cooked up an example image: http://i.imgur.com/XtoGn.png The left is what I want to happen, the right is what happens on all browsers (I know the background isn't transparent but bear with me - they're both transparent pngs, with the background having a gradient layer mask). I've put the images like this <div> <img id="backgroundImg" style="position: absolute; top: 0;" src="/Images/background.png" /> <img id="logoImg" src="/Images/logo.png" /> </div> I'm not entirely sure what blending mode I'm using in PS.

  • Preloading images in HTML, is there a more modern way?

    I have an image loaded by JS on a mouse event. It's a fairly big image so I want to make sure it gets pre-loaded. I reemmber some old techniques from years ago and found this example: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE = JAVASCRIPT> if (document.images) { img1 = new Image(); img2 = new Image(); img1.src = "imageName1.gif"; img2.src = "imageName2.gif" } </SCRIPT> I wondered if this is still good/relevant, or maybe browsers automatically detect unused images and preload them anyway? Note my page has to support IE6, so I might still need older techniques anyway, but I'm still interested if more modern browsers have a better way?

  • jQuery .load() call doesn't execute javascript in loaded html file

    This seems to be a problem related to Safari only. I've tried 4 on mac and 3 on windows and am still having no luck. What I'm trying to do is load an external html file and have the Javascript that is embedded execute. The code I'm trying to use is this: $("#myBtn").click(function() { $("#myDiv").load("trackingCode.html"); }); trackingCode.html looks like this (simple now, but will expand once/if I get this working): <html> <head> <title>Tracking HTML File</title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> alert("outside the jQuery ready"); $(function() { alert("inside the jQuery ready"); }); </script> </head> <body> </body> </html> I'm seeing both alert messages in IE (6 & 7) and Firefox (2 & 3). However, I am not able to see the messages in Safari (the last browser that I need to be concerned with - project requirements - please no flame wars). Any thoughts on why Safari is ignoring the Javascript in the trackingCode.html file? Eventually I'd like to be able to pass Javascript objects to this trackingCode.html file to be used within the jQuery ready call, but I'd like to make sure this is possible in all browsers before I go down that road.     Hi, I'm currently adding verbose tooltips to our site, and I'd like (without having to resort to a whizz-bang jQuery plugin, I klnow there are many!) to use carriage returns to format the tooltip. To add the tip I'm using the 'title' attribute. I've looked around the usual sites and using the basic template of: <a title='Tool?Tip?On?New?Line' >link with tip</a> I've tried replacing the '?' with: <br /> &013; / &#13; \r\n Environment.NewLine (I'm using C#) Neither work.   • Where to start to create an HTML website with 2 tables read from csv files using anything but php

    I want to design a website which displays on loading two tables each with it's respective data from a csv file. Then every minute the website automatically refreshes. This problem seems so simple! But yet the solution eludes me. All of the files will be contained in 1 directory, not on a server but on a local machine. Such as sitting on the desktop. I understand if I use javascript I have to use ADO, and I'm still trying to work out how to use ASP. I am new with both languages. So far the only restriction is that I can't use PHP. So the jist so far as I can think right now is: 1. read the file 2. place the file into an array by splitting at the commas 3. write the array into td's ????? 4. then print all this out into a div ???? I have googled my heart out and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. or even piece together what I'm looking for. Everything with javascript and ADO's leads me to dead ends, I can't find anything on ASP that is helpful. Could someone please write up some sample code for a resource? Or have a better solution?
