    Are there any free solutions for automatically migrating a database from MySQL to SQL Server Server that "just works"? I've been attempting this simple (at least I thought so) task all day now. I've tried: SQL Server Management Studio's Import Data feature Create an empty database Tasks - Import Data... .NET Framework Data Provider for Odbc Valid DSN (verified it connects) Copy data from one or more tables or views Check 1 VERY simple table Click Preview Get Error: The preview data could not be retrieved. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: ERROR [42000] [MySQL][ODBC 5.1 Driver][mysqld-5.1.45-community]You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '"table_name"' at line 1 (myodbc5.dll) A similar error occurs if I go through the rest of the wizard and perform the operation. The failed step is "Setting Source Connection" the error refers to retrieving column information and then lists the above error. It can retrieve column information just fine when I modify column mappings so I really don't know what the issue is. I've also tried getting various MySql tools to output ddl statements that SQL Server understand but haven't succeeded. I've tried with MySQL v5.1.11 to SQL Server 2005 and with MySQL v5.1.45 to SQL Server 2008 (with ODBC drivers 3.51.27.00 and 5.01.06.00 respectively)

    Hi all, I'm using Wysihat in a rails project and am stumped by it's inability to bind to my textarea named post_description (model name Post field name description). The following in the source of the posts/new HTML: <div id="post_description_editor" class="editor" contenteditable="true"></div> <textarea cols="40" id="post_description" name="post[description]" rows="20" style="display: none; "></textarea> However, when I type something in the description field and click submit the post validation fails saying the description field is empty.     I have a page that allows a user to choose some things in a form and it will calculate the weight using javascript. It breaks it up into 5 variables that I need to send to another page. Originally I was just having it put the variable into a text box and then I was posting that text box. However I dont want to have 5 text boxes.   • InfoPath browser form submitting dirty fields changed through javascript

    I'm trying to submit an InfoPath browser form with fields that have been modified through the Spell Checker included in Sharepoint server. The spell checker checks all the fields in the page and once the user closes the SpellChecker dialog, it changes the textboxes with the new values through javascript. When I click Submit, debug the FormEvents_Submit in the form code behind and try to do a GetNodeValue("XPath to changed field"), it still shows the old values. I realize that this may be a problem of doing postbacks and I'd like to do a full page postback once the SpellChecker is done changing all the textboxes. Any suggestions would be appreciated.     I have a custom dataGrid that acts more like a 2D list (if that makes sense at all). I am dynamically creating the columns and recreating the dataProvider to suit my needs. While debugging I can see that I am creating the columns and setting them to the dataGrid and creating and setting the dataProvider, but for some reason I am able to see the dataGrid and the columns but not the data.     Im building an ad-system where users can dynamically create 'fields' for each ad type. So lets say I want to create a new ad, and I choose Hotel as the ad type. Then I need my view to dynamically create fields like this: (I'm guessing?) [Label] Star rating: [hidden_field :ad_id] [hidden_field :ad_option_id] [text_field :value] [Label] Breakfast included?   • Understanding the passing of data/life of a script in web development/CodeIgniter

    I hope I worded the title accurately enough but I typically use Java and don't have much experience in Web Development/PHP/CodeIgniter. I have a difficult time understanding the life cycle of a script as I found out trying to implement a certain feature to a website I am developing (as a means of learning how to). I'll first describe the feature I tried implementing and then the problem I ran into that made me question my fundamental understanding of how scripts work since I'm used to typical OOP. Ok so here goes... I have a webpage that has 2 basic tasks a user can do, create and delete an entry. What I attempted to implement was a way to time a user how long it takes them to complete a certain task. The way I did this was have a homepage where there would be a list of tasks a user to choose from (in this case 2, create and delete). A user would click a task which would link to the 'true' homepage where the user then would be expected to complete the task. Now there's no error in the code but it doesn't do what I expect of it and the reason I assume why is because that each time a function of the script is called via a new page it is NOT the same instance of the script called previously so any previously created objects are no longer there. This confuses me and leaves me quite unsure of how to implement this gracefully. Some ways I would guess of how to do this is by passing the necessary data through the URL or have data saved in a database and retrieve it later to compare the times. What would be a recommended way to do, not just this, but anything that needs previously created data? Also, am I correct to think that a script is only 'alive' for one webpage at a time? Thanks!

  • Making two Windows using CreateWindowsEx()

    Hello, I have a windows form that has a simple menu and performs a simple operation, I want to be able to create another windows form with all the functionality of a menu bar, message pump etc.. as a separate thread so I can then share the results of the operation to the second window. I.E. 1) Form A opens Form B opens as a separate thread 2)Form A performs operation 3)Form A passes results via memory to Form B 4)Form B display results I'm confused as to how to go about it, the main app runs fine but i'm not sure how to add a second window if the first one already exists. I think that using CreateWindow will allow me to make another window but again i'm not sure how to access the message pump so I can respond to certain events like WM_CREATE on the second window. I hope it makes sense. Thanks!   • Preferred data-format for user-data in java applications?

    I'm currently developing a desktop application in java, which stores user data such as bookmarks for ftp-servers. When deciding how to save these informations, I ended up using xml, simply because I like the way xpath works. I was thinking about json too, which seems more lightweight. What is your preferred way to store data in java desktop applications (in general) and why? What about java-persistence, does that have any advantages worth noting? And how much does the size of user data matter? Its not always possible to store data in a database (or preferable), and in my experience xml does not scale well. Let me know what you think!

    Is there a way to display User fields under a form that adds/edits a UserProfile model? I am extending default Django User model like this: class UserProfile(models.Model): user = models.OneToOneField(User, unique=True) about = models.TextField(blank=True) I know that it is possible to make a: class UserProfileInlineAdmin(admin.TabularInline): and then inline this in User ModelAdmin but I want to achieve the opposite effect, something like inverse inlining, displaying the fields of the model pointed by the OneToOne Relationship (User) in the page of the model defining the relationship (UserProfile). I don't care if it would be in the admin or in a custom view/template. I just need to know how to achieve this. I've been struggling with ModelForms and Formsets, I know the answer is somewhere there, but my little experience in Django doesn't allow me to come up with the solution yet. A little example would be really helpful!

I hope there is no error with my inputs and the service provided. I dont know what this error means.     I have a has_many and belongs_to relationship between Job and Address. When I try to update Job and Address in the same form, it updates job but creates a duplicate entry for Address. Am I missing something here?   • C Builder TForm not allocated or created properly all its controls

    Hi, I would know how i can check that all the controls on the form is created and initialized. I have form i am showing when user presses the 'update' button. It have only TProgressBar control. The handle is not NULL for this control and at random stages it can or can't set the Position/Max values. When i set TProgressBar-Max value to some integer it remains 0 after.   • Processing variable number of form fields

    I am working on a form which displays information about orders. Each order has a unique id, but they are not necessarily sequential on the form. Also, the number of fields can vary (one field per row on the form). The input into the form will not be mapped straight into the database, but will be added to the current value in the database, and then saved. An example of the form is in the picture below - the callout on the right shows the id for each row. I know how to generate the form like this, but I can't work out how I can easily process each of these rows reliably. I also know how to give each of the fields a unique identifier, like name="row-23", but how can I translate that name so that I can update the related record in the database?

    I have searched the site and I've found various solutions, most of them suggesting using return false; Problem is that I'm using this piece of code to submit the form: $(function() { $("#snd").click(function() { var dendar = "http://" + $("#inpt").val() + ":" + $("#pwd").val() + "secretsite.lol/something.xml"; $("#formen").attr("action", dendar); $("#formen").submit(); alert(dendar); return false; }); }); The alert is just there to let me know that the form has been submitted..     Hi all, I'm interested in getting a preview functionality working similar to how the 37signals job site does: http://jobs.37signals.com. Below are some screen shots of how it works. Step 1. Create your ad http://cl.ly/dfc4761b015c7f43c8ab (URL /jobs/new) Step 2. Preview your ad http://cl.ly/9c4b4041cfea83d8569e (URL /jobs/new/preview) Step 3. Publish your ad http://cl.ly/a58284d90fd380d2c26b (URL /listings/new/purchase?token=5198) So assuming you have Post model where Step 1 usually takes place in the new/create view/actions, how should one continue to Step 2 Preview and then after previewing, proceeding to the Step 3 publishing the post/ad? Do they actually save the ad/post in the database before continuing to Step 2 (Preview) but set a flag (like a boolean field called preview set to true)? It looks like they set a token paramater but I'm not sure what it's used for) I'm interested in this because it seems to go against the CRUD/REST and I thought it would be good to know how it worked.
