• A class meant for an alfresco behavior and its bean, how do they work and how are they deployed trough eclipse

  (This is a partial repost of a question asked 10 days ago because only 1 part was answered(not included), I've rewritten it into a way better question and added 3 more tags) where do I put the DeleteAsset.class or why isn't it being found? I've put the compiled class from the bin of the workspace of eclipse into alfresco-4.2.c/tomcat/webapps/alfresco/WEB-INF/classes/com/openerp/behavior/ and right now it's giving me Error loading class [com.openerp.behavior.DeleteAsset] for bean with name 'deletionBehavior' defined in URL [file:/home/openerp/alfresco-4.2.c/tomcat/shared/classes/alfresco/extension/cust??om-web-context.xml]: problem with class file or dependent class; nested exception is java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/openerp/behavior/DeleteAsset (wrong name: DeleteAsset) when I put it in there. (See bean below!) think I've found the problem. Being a newbie to eclipse I haven't managed the dependecies well I think. • Accessing a file in Windows and Linux when working with JAVA+Eclipse.

  Hi there. I'm doing some JAVA coding at home and at work. At home i have Linux, work, Windows. The rootpath to X file in Windows is c:\Documents And Settings\User\My Documents\Dropbox\file.xxx and in Linux is something like /media/My Documents/Dropbox/file.xxx So, every time i edit in either system, i have to manually change the root of the file in a new File(FILEPATH) statement. Is there a workaround for this? I bet if the file root is relative to the project resource tree would do the trick, but that's an Eclipse based solution, not JAVA, i believe.

  Hi, I have a strange case with SWT and Button after using setEnabled() - seems if I disable and enable button at least once - I cannot properly click with mouse on it anymore...   This sample app ("thoughtsite") for App Engine contains a pom.xml in its trunk: http://code.google.com/p/thoughtsite/source/browse/#svn/trunk But I don't know what command to run in Maven to set up the project locally. (The README doesn't mention anything about Maven.) I tried to just import the project code directly into Eclipse but it doesn't look like it's in an appropriate format for a direct import. So I assume I need to do something with Maven to get it set up correctly. I haven't really used Maven before so I'm not sure what command I would need to run to set everything up. The pom.xml seems like it downloads a bunch of dependencies for the project like the Spring jar files which I don't see anywhere else in the svn repository.

  I'm using JSON.simple to generate JSON output from Java. But every time I call jsonobj.put("this", "that"), I see a warning in Eclipse: Type safety: The method put(Object, Object) belongs to the raw type HashMap. References to generic type HashMap should be parameterized The clean fix would be if JSONObject were genericized, but since it isn't, I can't add any generic type parameters to fix this. I'd like to switch off as few warnings as possible, so adding "@SuppressWarnings("unchecked")" to lots of methods is unappealing, but do I have any other option besides putting up with the warnings?

  I am almost done with one Java project that I have been developing on Linux. Now I need to build and test it on Windows. So I have installed Eclipse on Windows XP 32-bit, and imported my project. • Java program runs smoothly in Netbeans but slowly in Eclipse and as an executed jar. WTF?

  A java program that does frequent swing/awt painting animation (but nothing more advanced than g.fillOval(...)) runs at a consistent 60fps in Netbeans, and at about 6fps when ran in Eclipse or executed as a jar file from a unix terminal. The program was developed in Netbeans and is run-of-the-mill desktop application (not webstart or japplet or ...). This is occurring in Ubuntu 10 with java 1.6. How is this possible? The universe no longer makes sense to me.

  O.k....this is weird. I had my buttons looking fine last week, now something has changed. My buttons on the eclipse emulator are much larger than on my device (Droid 2.1). I checked my skin settings, screen size permissions, density factors....what am I missing? My skin is set to WVGA854, but when the app goes to the phone the buttons are smaller!? Text and pictures are fine...looking the same as the emulator...just the buttons are shrunk! Hmm....I know it has to be something simple...:)

• JustMock and Moles – A short overview for TDD alpha geeks

  People have been lurking near my house, asking me to write something about Moles and JustMock, so I’ll try to be as objective as possible, taking in the fact that I work at Typemock. If I were NOT working at Typemock I’d write: JustMock JustMock tries to be Typemock at so many levels it’s not even funny. Technically they work the same and the API almost looks like it’s a search and replace work based on the Isolator API (awesome compliment!), but JustMock still has too many growing pains and bugs to be usable. Also, JustMock is missing alot of the legacy abilities such as Non public faking, faking all types and various other things that are really needed in real legacy code. Biggest thing (in terms of isolation integration) is that it does not integrate with other profilers such as coverage, NCover etc.) When JustMock comes out of beta, I feel that it should cost about half as Isolator costs, as it currently provides about half the abilities. Moles Moles is an addon of Pex and was originally only intended to work within the Pex environment. It started as a research project and now it’s a power-tool for VS (so it’s a separate install) Now it’s it’s own little stubbing framework. It’s not really an Isolation framework in the classic sense, because it does not provide any kind of API built in to verify object interactions. You have to use manual flags all on your own to do that. It generates two types of classes per assembly: Manual Stubs(just like you’d hand code them) and Mole classes. Each Mole class is a special API to change and break the behavior that the corresponding type. so MDateTime is how you change behavior for DateTime. In that sense the API is al over the place, and it can become highly unreadable and unmentionable over time in your test. Also, the Moles API isn’t really designed to deal with real Legacy code. It only deals with public types and methods. anything internal or private is ignored and you can’t change its behavior. You also can’t control static constructors. That takes about 95% of legacy scenarios out of the picture if that’s what you’re trying to use it for. Personally, I found it hard to get used to the idea of two parallel APIs for different abilities, and when to choose which. and I know this stuff. I would expect more usability from the API to make it more widely used. I don’t think that Moles in planning to go that route. Publishing it as an Isolation framework is really an afterthought of a tool that was design with a specific task in mind, and generic Isolation isn’t it. it’s only hope is DEQ – a simple code example that shows a simple Isolation API built on the Moles generic engine. Moles can and should be used for very simple cases of detouring functionality such a simple static methods or interfaces and virtual functions (like rhinomock and MOQ do).   Oh, Wait. Ah, good thing I work at Typemock. I won’t write all that. I’ll just write: JustMock and Moles are great tools that enlarge the market space for isolation related technologies, and they prove that the idea of productivity and unit testing can go hand in hand and get people hooked. I look forward to compete with them at this growing market.

    I really like database monitoring. My email inbox have a constant flow of different types of alerts coming from our production servers with all kinds of information, sometimes more useful and sometimes less useful. Usually database alerts look really simple, it’s usually a plain text email saying “Prod1 Database data file on Server X is 80% used. You’d better grow it manually before some query triggers the AutoGrowth process”. Imagine you could have received email like the one below.  In addition to the alert description it could have also included the the database file growth chart over the past 6 months. Wouldn’t it give you much more information whether the data growth is natural or extreme? That’s truly what data visualization is for. Believe it or not, I have sent the graph below from SQL Server stored procedure without buying any additional data monitoring/visualization tool.   Would you like to visualize your database alerts like I do? Then like myself, you’d love the Google Charts. All you need to know is a little HTML and have a mail profile configured on your SQL Server instance regardless of the SQL Server version. First of all, I hope you know that the sp_send_dbmail procedure has a great parameter @body_format = ‘HTML’, which allows us to send rich and colorful messages instead of boring black and white ones. All that we need is to dynamically create HTML code.   I have created an app, and now i want to post a message on one of my friends wall with use of the new Graph API. Is this do-able? I am already using oAuth and the Graph-api to get a list of all my friends. The API at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/api tells me to cURL https://graph.facebook.com/[userid]/feed to read the feed, but it also tells me howto post a message: curl -F 'access_token=[...]' -F 'message=Hello, Arjun. I like this new API.' https://graph.facebook.com/arjun/feed Ofcourse this doesn't work! And I can't find out why.. • Using singleton instead of a global static instance

  I ran into a problem today and a friend recommended I use a global static instance or more elegantly a singleton pattern. I spent a few hours reading about singletons but a few things still escape me. Background: What Im trying to accomplish is creating an instance of an API and use this one instance in all my classes (as opposed to making a new connection, etc). There seems to be about 100 ways of creating a singleton but with some help from yoda I found some thread safe examples. ..so given the following code: public sealed class Singleton { public static Singleton Instance { get; private set; } private Singleton() { APIClass api = new APIClass(); //Can this be done? } static Singleton() { Instance = new Singleton(); } } How/Where would you instantiate the this new class and how should it be called from a separate class? EDIT: I realize the Singleton class can be called with something like Singleton obj1 = Singleton.Instance(); but would I be able to access the methods within the APIs Class (ie. obj1.Start)? (not that I need to, just asking) EDIT #2: I might have been a bit premature in checking the answer but I do have one small thing that is still causing me problems. The API is launching just fine, unfortunately Im able to launch two instances?   I'm using the rottentomatoes movie API in conjunction with twitter's typeahead plugin using bootstrap 2.0. I've been able to integerate the API but the issue I'm having is that after every keyup event the API gets called. This is all fine and dandy but I would rather make the call after a small pause allowing the user to type in several characters first. • Google Maps API v3: Can I setZoom after fitBounds?

  I have a set of points I want to plot on an embedded Google Map (API v3). I'd like the bounds to accommodate all points unless the zoom level is too low (i.e., zoomed out too much). My approach has been like this: var bounds = new google.maps.LatLngBounds(); // extend bounds with each point gmap.fitBounds(bounds); gmap.setZoom( Math.max(6, gmap.getZoom()) ); This doesn't work. The last line "gmap.setZoom()" doesn't change the zoom level of the map if called directly after fitBounds. Is there a way to get the zoom level of a bounds without applying it to the map? Other ideas to solve this?
