• Is there a stackexchange like extension for magento? [closed]

  I'm looking into adding a knowledge base solution to our existing magento installation where people can ask questions regarding our products in a similar way to the stackexchange format. I could not find anything myself, so I was wondering if anyone had experience with implementing something similar, perhaps trough multiple extensions tied together to achieve this. • Page views in Google Analitics are off compared to a similar metric

  We have a page where a user can sign a pledge to recycle by clicking a pledge button. A script writes it to a text file which updates the number on the page. In the past 2 days there have been 185 pledges signed but only 63 page views in GA. I trust that they are unique pledges and not just people adding multiple fake names and entering it. Is there anyway to get a better report from Google Analytics?

• How to offer a cookie opt in/out to users?

  I intend to use google analyticts, and as I understand it I will need to offer users the option to opt out of cookies. The question is this: I HATE these constant cookie option boxes, everyone I ask it getting annoyed by them too. Its nice to have the option, but we all know they have been in use for well over a decade. So - how big of a deal do I have to make about the fact that I'm using GoogleAn? can I pop a small link at the bottom of the page, maybe integrate it into "Privacy policies" page, and give people the option to opt out there? This would be very much the "Assume the majority of users don't mind, but at least make the option available" stance. Ironically setting a cookie seems to be the only way I can see to enforce the opt-out! as IP's change.

  I have an .htaccess file: In this file it redirects to index.php in case a file or directory is not found. My code is as below: <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?/$1 [L] </IfModule> Everything is working fine with this code. Now when I get Forbidden error(403), I would like it to be redirect to index.php. Do you have an idea how to write an .htaccess file for this purpose?

• Why are new pages not being indexed and old pages stay in the index?

  I currently have a site that was recently restructured, causing much of its content to be reposted, creating new URL's for each page. To avoid duplicates, all of the existing pages were added to the robots file. That said, it has now been over a week - I know Google has recrawled the site - and when I search for term X, it is stil the old page that is ranking, with the new one nowhere to be seen. I'm assuming it's a cached version, but why are so many of the old pages still appearing in the index? Furthermore, all "tags" pages (it's a Q&A site, like this one) were also added to the robots a few months ago, yet I think they are all still appearing in the index. Anyone got any ideas about why this is happening, and how I can get my new pages indexed?

• CLI Shared Hosting Management (scripts to manage web users and hosts) [on hold]

  I am currently administrating two servers: first one has no control panel, I am creating directory structure, setting permission, configuring different aspects (users/php-fpm pools, nginx hosts..) for each of sites. With more clients, I sat up ISPConfig on my second server, everything is easily handled by ISPConfig Web Interface. However, I am searching for a CLI based solution, i.e. a set of scripts to create and manage hosts. Basically, a method to control ISPConfig from the command line (so I can use it over SSH) would be a good start. Does anybody know of such effort? I searched but all I got was web based solutions. Thanks.

  Hello i am finally getting to grips with CSS after about 4 years of picking it up as i go. This problem though has had me stumped for a few hours now so ive gave up and decided to ask for some help and learn from it that way. • Looking to create a website ... need assistance on what technologies to use!

  First off, My group and I don't have any experience with databases or anything of that sort, only programming (not web-programming), so this post is just me wondering what things I should start researching and possibly some referral to a hosting company. The abstract idea is to have a list of things, each categorized, and each item with user-submitted reviews (made by users who are signed up with the website). Would absolutely everything be stored on a SQL database? (the long text reviews for example) Does anyone have any suggestions on some 'web frameworks' we could use to jumpstart us? What should our absolute first step be? (I was thinking about first designing the basic database? so we have something to work around...?) Should we worry about which host we choose right now, any recommendations? (would it be a trivial task to switch hosts in the future?) Thanks again, any help is appreciated!

• Unable to access media wiki pages from another computer?

  I have set up a web server in my Windows 7 with easyPHP. The website works fine when I browse the locally via localhost or 127.0.0.1. But, unable to open the site from another computer which is in the same LAN or in connected to my LAN. My local IP is in the 10.x.x.x range. The firewall turned off on my private network. I've also tried by changing Listen 127.0.0.1:80 to Listen 80 In httpd.conf but still i'm unable to access the media wiki from other machines. Unable to browse the pages from other machines using localhost or using IP address (Ex: 10.x.x.x). Could you please let me know your suggestions and comments?

• AJAX spreadsheet editor interfaced to own website

  My website has records that are tables. I would like for my users to be able to edit these records in an easy way. Currently they download a .csv-file, edit it in their favourite spreadsheet, and upload it again. But this often fails (they upload in wrong format or edit fields that they are not supposed to touch). I would therefore like to present the users with an editor directly on the website. So just like you can have WYSIWYG editors in CMSes for text I would like to have it for spreadsheets. One solution would be to interface my website with GoogleDoc and have the users edit the files using GoogleDoc's spreadsheet, and some how get the sheet back when they are done, but I do not know if this is possible at all.

• Improving FAQ SEO with multiple pages?

  I have a client who has over 200 Question/Answer style content blocks. Neither the questions or answers are very long and most of them have almost the same question but with a word or two differentiating themselves from the rest of the questions. Would SEO be helped or hurt if I would to put each QA on its own page with the title of the page the question being asked etc... Or, would that be considered "farming"? If not, what would be the best way (in SEO world) do present all these QAs? Thanks for any advice..

  I shall start with an example. I want to restrict to POST requests only for http://path/to/logical/abc.xml and restrict to GET only for http://path/to/logical/def.xml. How do I put constraints like this as the paths are logical and location directive is not supported in .htaccess?   I got a hosting account at HOSTGATOR. it was a shared account and i had three websites present over there. now, i have upgraded my account to VPS at HOSTGATOR and i want to transfer only ONE website over the new VPS. say, mydom.net. this website includes wordpress installation and other custom pages and setup can somebody please guide me How can I transfer the web to my new account? with speed, accuracy, and such that my website remains in working condition.. what will I do about wordpress? simply copy it will work?(I dont thnk so), if not how can I move it?   I have two goals set up for my site in Google Analytics: one to download the demo of my software, and the other to buy the full version. I'm having trouble getting statistics on how often the download leads to a purchase. This seems like something the multi-channel funnel is perfect for (as in this question)---I expect that it takes multiple visits for the demo download to convert into an order. However, I can't seem to narrow down the multi-channel funnel data into only those that have one goal followed by another. If it matters, I'm tracking the ordering action as a page view (i.e., someone views the "Thanks for ordering" page) and the demo download as an action (which fires when someone clicks the "download" button). I want to make sure that my pages are accessible to a large portion of people that have disabilities. I focus mainly on tutorials that are text and image intensive, but no video / flash or any kind of animations. What is a checklist that I can follow to ensure that many people with disabilities can have a good experience when using my web site, and what disabilities should I be most conscious of? • configure postfix to send as different domains

  I have postfix configured to receive mail for multiple domains. The primary domain goes through a standard postfix setup, whereas a secondary domain is handed by a /etc/postfix/virtual.db file which maps addresses for the secondary domain to other unix users. Incoming mail works perfectly, but when I send mail as users on the secondary domain, the mail receiver still sees it as coming from [unix username]@[primarydomain].net. Can anyone help me figure out how to configure the virtual postfix domain to send mail through the same domain it receives it as?

  I need to edit thousands of pages for a website with dynamic content added manually by the owner throughout 3 years, it has thousands of pages and I'm sure there is a better way to edit them without spending hours opening each one of them. I know it would be easy to just edit the styles.css but page dynamics like the positions of the google ad-boxes are individually edited inside the html of each page, so there is no way to solve this through css. Is there some sort of code, script and macro that can edit the pages at once?

To avoid having duplicated pages, i want to add canonical meta tag in header... but on which page? does it have to be on both of them or only on second? On on first? Can you give me some advice please?
