  • Responding to the onmousemove event outside of the browser window in IE

    In Internet Explorer 7 body onmousemove or document.onmousemove events only seem to fire while the mouse is inside the browser window, not when it's outside. Yet in Firefox the onmousemove event is called correctly when I move outside of the browser window. How can I setup an event to be called outside of the browser window in IE? Google Maps does this in IE. If you hold the mouse button down and move the mouse outside of the browser window you can see that the map still moves.

    Hi, i have a question regarding some complex data-binding. I want to be able to update a grid (which has the property "IsItemsHost" set to true) dynamically whenever a data-binding occurs. To be more specific, i bind the grid to some items and i want to change the number of grid rows depending on these items, add something like a header (one row containing some text), and set the items' Grid.Row and Grid.Column using some custom logic. What is the easiest way to apply such behaviour whenever the bound data is updated? Do i have to use a viewmodel that also contains the header data? Thanks in advance.

    Hi, I am using the below js code in order to change the class when a link is clicked. document.getElementById("gifts").setAttribute("class", "gkvSprite selected"); This is not working in IE but it does in FF and Chrome Then I changed the code to : document.getElementById("gifts").setAttribute("className", "gkvSprite selected"); Then it worked in IE stopped working in FF and Chrome.     Hello, I am using jquery.autocomplete.js and jquery.apitags to select a few elements from a dropdown list. This works great, and I can select multiple elements etc. However the jquery-aptags plugin does only fire when enter is pressed. This might confuse some users if they use the mouse to click instead of the arrows/enter on the keyboard. I think this is the code inside jquery.aptags that submits the tag. // // Hook to the keypress event. // $(this).bind('keypress', { __c: __c }, function (e) { var c = ''; var i = 0; var v = $(this).val(); if (e.keyCode == 13) { e.stopPropagation(); e.preventDefault(); __createSpans(this, v, e.data.__c, true); } }); I am wondering if it is possible to call the method directly from a new event. $('.ac_results > ul > li').livequery(function() { $(this).bind('click', function() { $('#address_city').aptags({__createSpans}); }); }); Any thoughts?

  • CSShover.htc file fixes problems on IE and creates them in Chrome

    Hi, I have attached a CSShover.htc file on my site to rectify the inherent problems in IE when creating a horizontal SPRYmenu in dreamweaver. The file has worked tremendously and displays fine on mozilla and IE. However on Chrome (my default browser) the menu skips accross the page by about 20px. The menu is quite wide in total at 975px. The menu still works on chrome but i would just like that the page displays the same on all browsers. Please help with your suggestions; Andy

    I have read through the Rails docs for Routing, Restful Resources, and the UrlHelper, and still don't understand best practices for creating complex/nested routes. The example I'm working on now is for events, which has_many rsvps. So a user's looking through a list of events, and clicks register, and goes through a registration process, etc. I want the urls to look like this: /events /events/123 # possible without title, like SO /events/123/my-event-title # canonical version /events/my-category/123/my-event-title # also possible like this /events/123/my-event-title/registration/new ... and all the restful nested resouces. Question is, how do I accomplish this with the minimal amount of code? Here's what I currently have: map.resources :events do |event| event.resources :rsvps, :as => "registration" end That gets me this: /events/123/registration What's the best way to accomplish the other 2 routes? /events/123/my-event-title # canonical version /events/my-category/123/my-event-title # also possible like this Where my-category is just an array of 10 possible types the event can be. I've modified Event#to_param to return "#{self.id.to_s}-#{self.title.parameterize}", but I'd prefer to have /id/title with the whole canonical-ness

    Hi, I just installed Help Center Live which works fine, but I would like to make just one minor adjustment and after looking almost everywhere I couldn't find the file where the text was listen in. At the end of each chat the user can request a copy of the transcript. I tested it and it got into the spam folder of my email client. Why, I don't know, but the point here is I would lik to add some text. After a user finishes a chat session, he or she gets a page hcl/live/chat/end.php with the following text displayed somewhere: "To e-mail yourself a copy of the transcript, please enter your e-mail address below." After entering the address and pressing submit there is a confirmation message: "A copy of the transcript has been sent to your e-mail address." And I would like to add: "Please check your spam folder if you haven't received your transcript" How can this be done? Thanks.
