  • Excel freezes when copying / cutting to paste elsewhere

    When cutting/copying some cells to paste them into another sheet/page, sometimes Excel freezes/locks up and fades out. At the top toolbar it says in brackets "not responding". Eventually, I must click 'X' to close the program. It offers to wait for the program to respond, but never does – it just does nothing until I finally close it, where it offers to recover files etc. Is there an issue with memory here? What can I do to stop it locking up?

  • How to filter RSOP to show only modified policies?

    Is it possible to view only those elements of GPO that are actually modified/specified? For example, when looking at RSOP for an OU, I have loads of options which are mostly not specified - can I automatically filter it to show only e.g. that it doesn't allow to use control panel or install software, instead of looking through all options? I am using Win2003 and I have only the default tools. Thanks in advance!

    I want to update the Python build on my Linux box, but the only way I know how to do it is uninstalling the current version and installing the new one. My system is already up to date (I updated yesterday). I wanted to know if there is a way to update a specific program from the command line, like sudo apt-get update <program-name>. I know this command doesn't exist, but I'm hoping something equivalent does.

  • How to remove hiberfil.sys

    I have a small SSD and I want to reclain the space currently used by the hiberfil.sys (~4GB) by disabling hybernation or perhaps preferably, move it to an HDD. I see under "power Options" that "Sleep/Hibernate After" is set to "Never", yet I have this 4 GB hiberfil.sys file. I don't see any other options pertaining to Hybernation. how do I remove this file and keep it from coming back or relocate it to another drive, an HDD where I would not mind the frivelous writes to take place.

(Its an 8 hour long file, first program only converted it to a 1 hour long mp3, and the 2nd converted it to 5 hrs long, but with 3 hrs still missing).   • Why doesn't my microphone work?

    I've taken a liking to the positioning of the Ubuntu titlebar buttons being on the left, and saw there is a program called Leftsider that does it on Windows 7. However, I don't want to use a program to do that for me, and given that I'm confident with mucking around with the registry, I'd like to know where the reg entries for the Titlebar Button positions are. Besides, doing it manually rather than automating the process gives me a chance to learn more about Windows!

    My system doesn't boot at all, upon starting it takes me to the Windows Error Recovery screen saying "Windows failed to start, a recent software or hardware change might be the cause" and gives two options Launch System Repair (Recommended) Start Windows normally But neither options work, upon clicking either of them, some progress bars get displayed and the screen just freezes on "Starting Windows". I tried booting from the Windows 7 disk but it too freezes on the "Starting Windows" screen. I even tried booting from ubuntu, slax linux, but they don't work too.

    I'm trying to link my project with fftw and so far, I've gotten it to compile, but not link. As the site said, I generated all the .lib files (even though I'm only using double precision), and copied them to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\lib, the .h file to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\include and the .dll to C:\windows\system32.     Hi, I am using CodeIgniter's form helper and form validation library to build my forms. I'm having trouble making the dropdown 'sticky' and also finding appropriate validation rules. This is how I'm populating the drodown: foreach($events as $event){ $options[$event->event_title] = $event->event_title; } $firstItem = '<option>Please select one...</option>'; echo form_dropdown('events', $options, '', $firstItem); This is building the options from events stored in the database. The form looks fine and is populating tall the fields correctly. Hwoever, when I come to submit the form, the dropdown isn't holding onto the value selected?     I have been succesfully using the command line database deployment tool VSDBCMD on my dev and test environments but the tool fails in our integration environmrnt. I am using the VS 2010 version of the tool. The servers have all of the prerequisites including: .net 4.0 sql server compact edition 3.5 sp1 (as well as the full edition of 2008) sql server 2008 server management objects sql server 2008 native client sql server system clr types msxml 6 all of the dependent DLLs included in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5\desktop*.dll C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server Compact Edition\v3.5*.dll C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\VSTSDB\Deploy**. The only reference to this error that I have been able to find has to do with a bug in the VS 2008 edition when the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0 key is missing. In my case the 10.0 version of the key exists. Has anyone else encountered this?
