  • How Would you Mimic an Arbitrary Directory Structure with Rails Routes?

    - by viatropos
I want to be able to map Google Docs' folder system to urls in my application and am just wondering how I can say "route, I want you to match an arbitrary set of nodes, and the last one is the file (or possibly a directory, I can check in the controller)". So I could do things like: www.mysite.com/documents/folder1/childfolderA/document www.mysite.com/documents/root-level-doc Can the routes.rb file do something like this?

  • Is it safe to read global data from multiple threads?

    - by user362515
The scenario is as follows: Create an instance of a class (std::map) and sore it as global variable. Spawn threads. Threads read and use the same global instance of the class All spawned threads quit Global class instance is destroyed No mutex, no thread modifies the global class instance. Is this OK? Thank You

  • Network bandwidth bottleneck for sorting of mapreduce intermediate keys?

    - by Zubair
I have been learning the mapreduce algorithm and how it can potentially scale to millions of machines, but I don't understand how the sorting of the intermediate keys after the map phase can scale, as there will be: 1,000,000 x 1,000,000 : potential machines communicating small key / value pairs of the intermediate results with each other? Isn't this a bottleneck?

  • HashMap.containsValue - What's the point?

    - by Frederik
I've got a HashMap and I need to fetch an item by its integer value. I notice there's a containsValue() function, but it would appear I still have to iterate through the map to find the correct index anyway. My question is; why use containsValue() if I'm required to traverse it afterwards? Also, am I missing the point completely? ;-)

  • Shortcut for moving between Vim windows

    - by Kamilski81
Let's say I have single Vim tab displaying 9 buffers (equally separated, like a table 3x3). Currently, to get from the top left window to the bottom right one, I have to press 3, Ctrl+W, J, and then 3, Ctrl+W, L. This is cumbersome and I would like to just be able to press Ctrl+9 to go to the 9th window and Ctrl+3 to go to the 3rd window, etc. Is there any easy way I can map something like this in Vim?

  • FsUnit `should equal` fails on `Some []`

    - by SHiNKiROU
When I run this FsUnit test with NUnit 2.6.3, let f xs = Some (List.map ((+) 2) xs) [<Test>] let test() = f [] |> should equal (Some []) I get: Result Message: Expected: <Some([])> But was: <Some([])> Result StackTrace: at FsUnit.TopLevelOperators.should[a,a](FSharpFunc`2 f, a x, Object y) The test fails even though the Expected and Actual in the message are the same. What happened?

  • Trying all permutations

    - by Malfist
For my program, I am trying to assist the user, and reduce his or her work load. There are four input numbers. There is also an indeterminate amount of numbers they can be applied too. For example, they four input numbers could be {4,7,3,2} and the numbers they can be applied to are {4,9,23} The result should be: 4 (input) was applied to 4, leaving the sets looking like: {0,7,3,2} and then 7,2 (input) are applied to 9 leaving the sets looking like: {0,0,3,0} and {0,0,23} and because 3 or any other permutation including 3 does not match 23, 3 remains. How would I do this?

  • Running a piece of code for a certain amount of time in C#?

    - by Hazem
Hi I am working on a robot that is capable of motion detection using a webcam. I am doing this in C# The robot moves too fast, so I want to turn it on/off at short time intervals in order to reduce its speed. For example, it will start the engine then wait 0.5 second and turn it off, this cycle repeats every 2 seconds. This way, its speed wont be too fast. I would like to include this in a single function called Move() I just don't know how to do this, especially because my motion detection code runs like 20 times a second. Depending on the position of the obstacle, I may need to disable the Move() function and activate other functions that let the robot move into other directions. Any ideas/suggestions on where am I supposed to start? Thanks a lot!

  • Ajax create div dynamically+javascript

    - by niao
Greetings, The question relates to ASP.NET MVC I am creating some divs dynamically using AJAX (some views render dynamically). Inside these views a have some JS code. When user click on link i would like to open dialog box with google map. However, because these views are rendered dynamically it does not work because js code is not injected (what can be seen in page source). How can I resolve this problem?

  • rails named routes + controller as parameter

    - by user350785
Hi, is it possible to have the controller value in a rails named route as a parameter, which I can pass at runtime to direct the call to the proper controller? e.g. map.ride 'ride' ,:controller = {some-way-of-specifying-a-parameter}, :action = 'ride' then at runtime, I want to pass the controller name to which this call should be going. My actions are doing different things depending to which controller the call gets sent. thanks

  • class T in c++ (your definition)

    - by JohnWong
The one advantage of using class T in c++ is to reduce the time to redefine data types in a function, if those data types are defined in other function, for example, in int main. template <class T> void showabs(T number) { if (number < 0 ) number = -number; cout << number << endl; return 0; } int main() { int num1 = -4; float num2 = -4.23f; showabs(num1); showabs(num2); return 0; } So in this case, without class T, for each data type, we have to add its corresponding data-type condition, that is, another set of if statement for int, and another one for float. Am I correct?

  • creating a new dirctory in vim

    - by dorelal
I have following setting which lets me easily create a new file from the currently open file map <Leader>e :tabe <C-R>=expand("%:p:h") . "/" <CR> Is there something similar which would let me create a directory from the current directory. Otherwise what are the other tricks you are using to create a directory and then create a file there.

  • How to deal with 2 almost identical tables

    - by jgritty
I have a table of baseball stats, something like this: CREATE TABLE batting_stats( ab INTEGER, pa INTEGER, r INTEGER, h INTEGER, hr INTEGER, rbi INTEGER, playerID INTEGER, FOREIGN KEY(playerID) REFERENCES player(playerID) ); But then I have a table of stats that are basically exactly the same, but for a team: CREATE TABLE team_batting_stats( ab INTEGER, pa INTEGER, r INTEGER, h INTEGER, hr INTEGER, rbi INTEGER, teamID INTEGER, FOREIGN KEY(teamID) REFERENCES team(teamID) ); My first instinct is to scrap the Foreign key and generalize the ID, but I still have a problem, I have these 2 tables, and they can't have overlapping IDs: CREATE TABLE player( playerID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, firstname TEXT, lastname TEXT, number INTEGER, teamID INTEGER, FOREIGN KEY(teamID) REFERENCES team(teamID) ); CREATE TABLE team( teamID INTEGER PRIMARY KEY, name TEXT, city TEXT, ); I feel like I'm overlooking something obvious that could solve this problem and reduce stats to a single table.

  • ? and function javascript

    - by Rixius
is there any way to map the ? key to the function keyword? so that these work: var rFalse = ?() { return false; } (?(){ var str = "i'm in a closure"; }()); window.onload = ?() { alert('window loaded'); } I know that they are attempting to put a shortened function keyword in ecmascript v6, but I'm wondering if it is possible to do it now.
