  • Cross-browser padding/margins

    Hi All, I was wondering if you could give me some helpful hints on how to correct this issue? I have a main menu on my site, the code for it is as follows: li:hover { background-color: #222222; padding-top: 8px; padding-bottom: 9px; } And here's a demo of what it actually looks like: The problem is that when I hover over a menu option (li), the background appears, but it overflows to the outside of the menu's background, and makes it look really dodgy/crap/cheap/yuck! Note that (obviously) when I change the padding to make it display correctly in these browsers, it appears too small in height in IE! So I'm screwed either way. How can I make little imperfections like this look the same in all browsers?   • Automatic multi-page multi-column flowing text with QtWebkit (HTML/CSS/JS -> PDF)

    I have some HTML documents that are converted to PDF, using software that renders using QtWebkit (not sure which version). Currently, the documents have specific tags to split into columns and pages - so whenever the wording changes, it is a manual time-consuming process to move these tags so that the columns and pages fit. Can anyone provide a way to have text auto-wrapped into the next column/page (as appropriate) when it reaches the bottom of the current container? Any HTML, CSS or JS supported by QtWebkit is ok (assuming it works in the PDF converter). (I have tested the webkit-column-* in CSS3 and it appears QtWebkit does not support this.) To make things more exciting, it also needs to: - put a header at the top of each page, with page X of Y numbering; - if an odd number of pages, add a blank page at the end (with no header); - have the ability to say "don't break inside this block" or "don't break after this header" I have put some quick example initial markup and target markup to help explain what I'm trying to do. (The actual documents are far more complicated than that, but I need a simple proof-of-concept before I attack the real ones.) Any suggestions? Update: I've got a partially working solution using Aaron's "filling up" suggestion - I'll post more details in a bit.

    I have a problem with DIV vertical align in Firefox The HTML code is: <div class="mess"><div class="rpl"><img src="img/16.png" width="16" height="16" border="0"></div><div class="pic"><img src="img/1.png" width="100" height="100" border="0"></div></div> The CSS looks like: .mess{ float:left; width:658px; border-top:1px solid #CCC;padding-top:5px; } .rpl{ position: relative;width:19px; float:left;top: 20%;display: table-cell; vertical- align: middle; padding-top:20px; } .pic{width:100px; float:left; padding-bottom:5px;margin-right:10px; } I'm trying to put "rpl" DIV at the vertical middle of the "mess" DIV. In IE it looks fine but I can't get it right in Firefox (always at the top of the "mess" div) I tried with display: inline,display: table-cell for "rpl" DIV but with no effect in FF. Is there any solution for vertical align for DIV in FF?

    I'm transforming XML to an HTML document. In this document I want to embed XML markup for a node that was just transformed (the HTML document is a technical spec). For example, if my XML was this: <transform-me> <node id="1"> <stuff type="floatsam"> <details>Various bits</details> </stuff> </node> </transform-me> I'd want my XSLT output to look something like this: <h1>Node 1</h1> <h2>Stuff (floatsam)</h2> Various bits <h2>The XML</h2> &lt;stuff type=&quot;floatsam&quot;&gt; &lt;details&gt;Various bits&lt;/details&gt; &lt;/stuff&gt; I'm hoping there is an XSLT function that I can call in my <stuff> template to which I can pass the current node (.) and get back escaped XML markup for <stuff> and all its descendants. I have a feeling unparsed-text() might be the way to go but can't get it to work.

This is what my XML looks like: Song Title Lyrics <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> <song> <title>Song Title</title> <lyric>Lyrics</lyric> I want to have line breaks in between the sentences for the lyrics. I tried everything from /n, and other codes similar to it, PHP parsing, etc., and nothing works! Have been googling online for hours and can't seem to find the answer. I'm using the XML to insert data to an HTML page using Javascript. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thanks before :)

    I would like to display a list of persons (coded in POJOS, and containing a name and surname property) using a JavaFX ListView control. I created the ListView and added the list of persons as an ObservableList. Everything works fine if I delete or add a new person to the ObservableList, but changes in the POJO do not trigger an update of the ListView. I have to remove and add the modified POJO from the ObservableList to trigger the update of the ListView. Is there any possibility to display changes in POJOS without the workaround described above?

    I can't disable escaping in a Zend_Form_Element_Submit, so when the label has special characters it won't display it's value.. This is my actual Zend Form piece of code: $this->submit = new Zend_Form_Element_Submit('submit'); $this->submit->setLabel('Iniciar Sesión'); $this->submit->setIgnore(true); $this->addElement($this->submit); I've tried $this->submit->getDecorator('Label')->setOption('escape', false); but I obtain an "non-object" error (maybe submit isn't using the "Label" Decorator).. I've also tried as suggested $this->submit->setAttrib('escape', false); but no text will be shown either.. Any idea? Thanks

    I'm trying to use jQuery to load the body of another HTML document, which contains our AdSense banner. It should display under each blog entry when in list view. I'm able to get it to load text, even images, but not the banner; the banner is a small script. Here is the website we are working with: http://neverknowtech.com/data/ (that's a test page, and the 'entry' displayed there contains the intended body content) As you can see here the body code does include an ad, and the word 'Ad'. The word 'Ad' is shown correctly below the post (as it is in list view) but the script for the Google Ad doesn't seem to make it.     Hi, I have hosted a website. But now my client asks to change it to http://sites.google.com. They hav registered their domain in google. I logged in the site and saw the procedures to create a website from scratch. But is there any way to directly replace the site into google sites. Like, in my site i hav included css files in a folder called stylesheets/css and access it through the link tag. And there are several folders lik that, viz images, scripts etc. 1.Now if i have to transfer it to google sites, where do i create the folders and stuff. I have the priviliges to login to the admin part of the site. 2.And also is there anyway to create database and access it in google sites? 3.Also i see that only html pages can be created. Is there a way to add php pages or other scripting languages? 4.Going forward will google sites be usefull for professional web designing. pls give ideas on whether or not google sites is a good idea to go with
