  • How to change text via jQuery?

    - by Will Merydith
    I am trying to change the "show more" text depending on the state. This isn't working: <div id="description"> text goes here </div> <div id="more-less-container"> <a href="#" id="more-less">expand / collapse</a> </div> <script> var open = false; $('#more-less').click(function() { if (open) { $('#description').animate({height:'10em'}); $('#more-less').innerHTML ='show less'; } else { $('#description').animate({height:'100%'}); $('#more-less').innerHTML ='show more'; } open = !open; }); </script>

  • Is there an HTML code that can make my background picture transparent and my text non-transparent?

    - by user1831312
    Okay so I've been typing some HTML code for a technology class that I need to satisfy for my Education major. This is what i have for my background: body { background-image:url('islandbeach.jpg'); background-repeat:repeat; background-position:center; background-attachment:fixed; background-size:cover; } Now, I want to make my background transparent or faded so I can see the text and the other image that I have. The background is too colorful to be able to see the words without having to squint. Are there any HTML codes that can do this for me? I am not a pro at this stuff, I've just been following everything my professor has told me to do so please explain stuff in baby steps if you do have an answer. Thank you so so much!

  • How to achieve jQuery scrolling/overlay effect (video in description)

    - by waffl
    I have two columns. The left column contains text of dynamic lengths. The right column is of fixed height and will contain a set of images selected at random per page load. I am trying to create an effect where while the user scrolls, the Image 2 scrolls above Image 1. When it reaches the top, the Image 1 begins to scroll up until it disappears, then Image 3 comes in and repeats the process. As this is rather confusing, I made a short video describing the desired effect. Video - MP4 I have begun trying to get it working in this jsbin but am at a loss for when the user scrolls back down and also when more images are required. I am thinking my current path is not the right direction. I'm thinking that employing something like jQuery waypoints is more the direction I should be pursuing?

    - by QTaylor

Here's the code: $('.contact-button').click(function() { $('body').addClass('fadeInLeft') }); HTML (from comment left by OP, below): <div id="contact" class="bounceInRight animated four"> <a href="#" class="contact-button"> Say Hello </a> </div><!--End of contact--> contact-button is the class of the link, fadeInLeft is the class I want to add when the link is clicked. Any idea why this would not work ?

  • fadeIn on page load

    - by Brad
    I want to fade in a background of an entry within a div - this is to show the user what the most recent entry is on page load. I want it to do it on page load, without having to click or hover or anything, just when the page loads. I have this: $(document).ready(function() { $('#box').fadeIn(5000, function() { // Animation complete }); }); Is it something like pageLoad? Any help is appreciated.

  • DIV appear differently in chrome only.

    - by DreamWave
    I have a website at bgflirt.com that appears differently in FireFox and Chrome. This is how it looks in firefox: and here's how it looks in chrome: As you can see, in chrome (and safari) the page is not stretched to fit the entire screen. I'm using this code for positioning the div containing the flash on the right: <div style="width: 200px; position: absolute; right: 0px; top: 10px; overflow: hidden;"> </div> The page should look the way it does in firefox, in all browsers. Any ideas on how to fix this will be greatly appreciated !

  • Horizontal scrollbar for textbox

    - by Tim
    Is it possible to add a horizontal scrollbar to a text box that works in all browsers? Currently if the text value is bigger than the size of the text box you have to highlight the text and move cursor to the right to see the rest of the text. I'd like user to have a scrollbar to use instead.

  • How do I count list elements that are not hidden?

    - by Baloneysammitch
    Starting with a simple list: <ul> <li>Item 1</li> <li style="display: none;">Item 2</li> <li>Item 3</li> </ul> I know that I can subtract the hidden elements from the list total $('ul li').size() - $('ul li:hidden').size() But I thought there might be a more elegant way to achieve this with jquery: $('ul li:hidden:not').size() That doesn't work. Any ideas?

  • Full background using :cover; makes adds horizontal scroll

    - by user1907341
    I am working on a website which needs a header with full background image & 650 height. At the moment i am using background-size: cover; property with 100% width. While, it's working it leaves an awkward horizontal scroll of about 50px on right side. Which is lot more prominent in smaller resolutions. I tried applying background to body instead of header div too. But same thing happens there as well. You can see a preview here - http://nitingarg.com/projects/tfe/

  • vertically aligning image in fluid container

    - by archytect
    looked for other examples but couldn't find any. my image container uses max-width/max-height so the image scales to the container but I can't seem to get it to auto margin top/bottom or vertical align it to the middle without setting a height. html, body { width: 100%; height: 100%; margin: 0px; } #container { border: solid 1px #000; height: 100%; width: 65%; position: absolute; right: 0; } #container img { max-width: 100%; max-height: 100%; display: block; margin: auto; vertical-align: middle; }? <div id="container"><img src="http://rack.2.mshcdn.com/media/ZgkyMDEyLzEyLzE2LzAzL3NjcmVlbnNob3QyXzJlb2RkLnBuZwpwCXRodW1iCTg1MHg1OTA+CmUJanBn/5b500a85/9ee/screen-shot-2012-12-14-at-9-45-01-am.jpg" /> </div>? http://jsfiddle.net/beftR/

  • Large Data Table with first column fixed

    - by bhavya_w
    I have structure as shown in the fiddle http://jsfiddle.net/5LN7U/. <section class="container"> <section class="field"> <ul> <li> Question 1 </li> <li> question 2 </li> <li> question 3 </li> <li> question 4 </li> <li> question 5 </li> <li> question 6 </li> <li> question 7 </li> </ul> </section> <section class="datawrap"> <section class="datawrapinner"> <ul> <li><b>Answer 1 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 2 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 3 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 4 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 5 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 6 :</b></li> <li><b>Answer 7 :</b></li> </ul> </section> </section> </section> Basically its a table structure made using divs. The first column contains a long list of questions and the second column contains answers/multiple answers which can be quite big ( there has to be horizontal scrolling in the second column.) The problem i am facing is when i scroll downwards the second column which has the horizontal scroll bar is also scrolling downward. I want horizontal scrollbar to be fixed there. as in it should be always fixed there no matter how much i scroll vertically. Much Like Google Spreadsheets: where the first column stays fixed and there's horizontal scrolling on rest of the columns with over vertical scrolling for whole of the data. I cannot used position fixed in the second column. P.S : please no lectures on using div's for making a table structure. I have my own reasons. and its kinda urgent. Thanks in advance.
