  am making a function that will send me a list of all possible elemnts .. in each iteration its giving me the last answer .. but after the recursion am only getting the last answer back .. how can i make it give back every single answer .. thank you the problem is that am trying to find all possible distributions for a list into other lists .. the code test :- bp(3,12,[7, 3, 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 2], Answer), format("Answer = ~w\n",[Answer]). bp(NB,C,OL,A):- addIn(C,OL,[[],[],[]],A); bp(NB,C,_,A). addIn(_,[],Result,Result). addIn(C,[Element|Rest],[F|R],Result):- member( Members , [F|R]), sumlist( Members, Sum), sumlist([Element],ElementLength), Cap is Sum + ElementLength, (Cap =< C, append([Element], Members,New), insert( Members, New, [F|R], PartialResult), addIn(C,Rest,PartialResult,Result)). by calling test .. am getting back all the list of possible answers .. now if i tried to do something that will fail like bp(3,11,[8,2,4,6,1,8,4],Answer). it will just enter a while loop .. more over if i changed the bp(NB,C,OL,A):- addIn(C,OL,[[],[],[]],A); bp(NB,C,_,A). to and instead of Or .. i get error : ERROR: is/2: Arguments are not sufficiently instantiated appreciate the help ..   I've been teaching myself Python for a little while now, and I've never programmed before. I just wrote a basic backup program that writes out the progress of each individual file while it is copying. I wrote a function that determines buffer size so that smaller files are copied with a smaller buffer, and bigger files are copied with a bigger buffer. • How to sum up a fetched result's number property based on the object's category?

  I have a NSFetchRequest that is returning all my saved objects (call them Items) and storing them in an NSMutableArray. Each of these Items have a category, an amount, and some other properties. My goal is to check the category of each Item and store the sum of the amounts for objects of the same category. So if I had these Items: Red; 10.00 Blue; 20.00 Green; 5.00 Red; 5.00 Green; 15.00 then I would have an array or other type of container than has: Red; 15.00 Blue; 20.00 Green; 20.00 What would be the best way to organize the data in such a manner? I was going to create a object class (call it Totals) that just has the category and amount. As I traverse through the fetch results in a for-loop, add Items with the same category in a Totals object an store them in a NSMutableArray. The problem I ran into with that is that I'm not sure how to check if an array contains a Totals object with a specific property. Specifically, a category that already exists. So if 'Red' exists, add the amount to it, otherwise create a new Totals object with category 'Red' and a the first Item's amount. Thanks.

  I have a master array of length n of id numbers that apply to other analogous arrays with corresponding data for elements in my simulation that belong to those id numbers (e.g. data[id]). Were I to generate a list of id numbers of length m separately and need the information in the data array for those ids, what is the best method of getting a list of indices idx of the original array of ids in order to extract data[idx]? That is, given: a=numpy.array([1,3,4,5,6]) # master array b=numpy.array([3,4,3,6,4,1,5]) # secondary array I would like to generate idx=numpy.array([1,2,1,4,2,0,3]) The array a is typically in sequential order but it's not a requirement. Also, array b will most definitely have repeats and will not be in any order. My current method of doing this is: idx=numpy.array([numpy.where(a==bi)[0][0] for bi in b]) I timed it using the following test: a=(numpy.random.uniform(100,size=100)).astype('int') b=numpy.repeat(a,100) timeit method1(a,b) 10 loops, best of 3: 53.1 ms per loop Is there a better way of doing this?

  Hi, I'm struggling with a little problem and starting to arrive at the conclusion it's simply not possible. I have a Table called Group. As with most of these systems Group has a ParentGroup and a Children collection. So the Table Group looks like this: Group -ID (PK) -Name -ParentId (FK) I did my mappings using FNH AutoMappings, but I had to override the defaults for this: p.References(x => x.Parent) .Column("ParentId") .Cascade.All(); p.HasMany(x => x.Children) .KeyColumn("ParentId") .ForeignKeyCascadeOnDelete() .Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan() .Inverse(); Now, the general idea was to be able to delete a node and all of it's children to be deleted too by NH. So deleting the only root node should basically clear the whole table. I tried first with Cascade.AllDeleteOrphan but that works only for deletion of items from the Children collection, not deletion of the parent. Next I tried ForeignKeyCascadeOnDelete so the operation gets delegated to the Database through on delete cascade. But once I do that MSSql2008 does not allow me to create this constraint, failing with : Introducing FOREIGN KEY constraint 'FKBA21C18E87B9D9F7' on table 'Group' may cause cycles or multiple cascade paths. Specify ON DELETE NO ACTION or ON UPDATE NO ACTION, or modify other FOREIGN KEY constraints. Well, and that's it for me. I guess I'll just loop through the children and delete them one by one, thus doing a N+1. If anyone has a suggestion on how do that more elegantly I'd be eager to hear it.

• java url connection, wait for data being sent through the outputstream

  I'm writting a java class that tests uploading speed connection to a server. I want to check how many data can be send in 5 seconds. I've written a class which creates a URL, creates a connection, and sends data trough the outPutStream. There is a loop where I writte data to the stream for 5 seconds. However I'm not able to see when data has been send (I writte data to the output stream, but data is not send yet). How can I wait untill data is really sent to the server? • Program freezing when syncing a ldap database (100+ entries added)

  Hey guys, I'm updating a ldap database. I need to add a list of users to the db. I've written a simple foreach loop. There are about 180 users i need to add, but at the 128th user, the program freezes. I know ldap is really used for querying (fast), and that adding and modifying entries will not go as smooth as a search query, but is it normal that the program freezes while doing this? • Matching innermost braces with regex or strpos?

  I have a sort of mini parsing syntax I made up to help me streamline my view code in cakephp. Basically I have created a table helper which, when given a dataset and (optionally) a set of options for how to format the data will render out a table, as opposed to me looping though the data and editing it manually. It allows the user to be as complex or as simple as they like, it can get pretty powerful. However, In order to achieve this I had to make a simple parsing syntax. As a quick example the user would do something like so: $this->Table->data = $userData; $this->Table->elements['td']['data'] = array( '{:User.username:}', '{:User.created:}' => array('Time::nice') ); echo $this->Table->render(); And when rendering the table would then generate: <table> <tbody> <tr><td>rich97</td><td>Sun 21st 02:30pm</td></tr> </tbody> </table> The problem occurs then I try to nest the braces like so: {:User.levels.iconClasses.{:User.access:}:} Is there anyway I can only get the inner most brackets on the first time round and loop though until there are no matches? Or even do it in one go? Or even better use strpos? Here is my regex as it stands: '/\{\:([^}]+)\:\}/'

• How to filter node list based on the contents of another node list

  Hi, I'd like to use XSLT to filter a node list based on the contents of another node list. Specifically, I'd like to filter a node list such that elements with identical id attributes are eliminated from the resulting node list. Priority should be given to one of the two node lists. The way I originally imagined implementing this was to do something like this: <xsl:variable name="filteredList1" select="$list1[not($list2[@id_from_list1 = @id_from_list2])]"/> The problem is that the context node changes in the predicate for $list2, so I don't have access to attribute @id_from_list1. Due to these scoping constraints, it's not clear to me how I would be able to refer to an attribute from the outer node list using nested predicates in this fashion. To get around the issue of the context node, I've tried to create a solution involving a for-each loop, like the following: <xsl:variable name="filteredList1"> <xsl:for-each select="$list1"> <xsl:variable name="id_from_list1" select="@id_from_list1"/> <xsl:if test="not($list2[@id_from_list2 = $id_from_list1])"> <xsl:copy-of select="."/> </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> </xsl:variable> But this doesn't work correctly. It's also not clear to me how it fails... Using the above technique, filteredList1 has a length of 1, but appears to be empty. It's strange behaviour, and anyhow, I feel there must be a more elegant approach. I'd appreciate any guidance anyone can offer. Thanks.

  Given these two models: class Profile(models.Model): user = models.ForeignKey(User, unique=True, verbose_name=_('user')) about = models.TextField(_('about'), blank=True) zip = models.CharField(max_length=10, verbose_name='zip code', blank=True) website = models.URLField(_('website'), blank=True, verify_exists=False) class ProfileView(models.Model): profile = models.ForeignKey(Profile) viewer = models.ForeignKey(User, blank=True, null=True) created = models.DateTimeField(auto_now_add=True) I want to get all profiles sorted by total views. I can get a list of profile ids sorted by total views with: ProfileView.objects.values('profile').annotate(Count('profile')).order_by('-profile__count') But that's just a dictionary of profile ids, which means I then have to loop over it and put together a list of profile objects. Which is a number of additional queries and still doesn't result in a QuerySet. At that point, I might as well drop to raw SQL. Before I do, is there a way to do this from the Profile model? ProfileViews are related via a ForeignKey field, but it's not as though the Profile model knows that, so I'm not sure how to tie the two together. As an aside, I realize I could just store views as a property on the Profile model and that may turn out to be what I do here, but I'm still interested in learning how to better use the Aggregation functions.

• Help! Getting an error copying the data from one column to the same column in a similar recordset..

  I have a routine which reads one recordset, and adds/updates rows in a similar recordset. The routine starts off by copying the columns to a new recordset: Here's the code for creating the new recordset.. For X = 1 To aRS.Fields.Count mRS.Fields.Append aRS.Fields(X - 1).Name, aRS.Fields(X - 1).Type, aRS.Fields(X - _ 1).DefinedSize, aRS.Fields(X - 1).Attributes Next X Pretty straight forward. Notice the copying of the name, Type, DefinedSize & Attributes... Further down in the code, (and there's nothing that modifies any of the columns between.. ) I'm copying the values of a row to a row in the new recordset as such: For C = 1 To aRS.Fields.Count mRS.Fields(C - 1) = aRS.Fields(C - 1) Next C When it gets to the last column which is a numeric, it craps with the "Mutliple-Step Operation Generated an error" message. I know that MS says this is an error generated by the provider, which in this case is ADO 2.8. There is no open connect to the DB at this point in time either. I'm pulling what little hair I have left over this one... (and I don't really care at this point that the column index is 'X' in one loop & 'C' in the other... I'll change it later when I get the real problem fixed...)

  Hi, I', trying to re-format a date from a table in Codeigniter. The Controller is for a blog. I was succesfull when the date conversion happens in the View. I was hoping to convert the date in the Model to have things in order. Here's the date conversion as it happens in the View.   During a recent job interview, I was asked to give a solution to the following problem: Given a string s (without spaces) and a dictionary, return the words in the dictionary that compose the string. For example, s= peachpie, dic= {peach, pie}, result={peach, pie}. I will ask the the decision variation of this problem: if s can be composed of words in the dictionary return yes, otherwise return no. • Weird exception: Cannot cast String to Boolean when using getBoolean

  I'm getting a very weird error. I have 2 activities. On both I'm getting the SharedPreferences using MODE_PRIVATE (if it matters) by sp = getPreferences(MODE_PRIVATE); on each activity's onCreate() I'm calling sp.getBoolean(IntroActivity.SHOW_INTRO, true) On the IntroActivity this works fine.   I currently have a list (<ul>) of people that I have divided up into two columns. • How to query the SPView object

  I have a SPView object that contains a lot of SPListItem objects (there are many fields in the view). I am only interested in one of these fields. Let's call it specialField Given that view and specialField, I want to know if a value is contained in specialField. Here is a way of doing what I want to do : String specialField = "Special Field"; String specialValue = "value"; SPList list = SPContext.Current.Site.RootWeb.Lists["My List"]; SPView view = list.Views["My View"]; //This is the view I want to query SPQuery query = new SPQuery(); query.Query = view.Query; SPListItemCollection items = list.GetItems(query); foreach(SPListItem item in items) { var value = item[specialField]; if(value != null) && (value.ToString() == specialValue) { //My value is found. This is what I was looking for. //break out of the loop or return } } //My value is not found. However, iterating through each ListItem hardly seems optimal, especially as there might be hundreds of items. This query will be executed often, so I am looking for an efficient way to do this. EDIT I will not always be working with the same view, so my solution cannot be hardcoded (it has to be generic enough that the list, view and specialField can be changed.

• Excel 2010 VBA code is stuck when UserForm is shown

  I've created a UserForm as a progress indicator while a web query (using InternetExplorer object) runs in the background. The code gets triggered as shown below. The progress indicator form is called 'Progerss'. Private Sub Worksheet_Change(ByVal Target As Range) If Target.Row = Range("B2").Row And Target.Column = Range("B2").Column Then Progress.Show vbModeless Range("A4:A65535").ClearContents GetWebData (Range("B2").Value) Progress.Hide End If End Sub What I see with this code is that the progress indicator form pops up when cell B2 changes. I also see that the range of cells in column A gets cleared which tells me that the vbModeless is doing what I want. But then, somewhere within the GetWebData() procedure, things get hung up. As soon as I manually destroy the progress indicator form, the GetWebData() routine finishes and I see the correct results. But if I leave the progress indicator visible, things just get stuck indefinitely. The code below shows what GetWebData() is doing.
