• How to register a function in a driver code as its ISR

  Following the feedback i got from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2683682/new-to-linux-kernel-driver-development/2683819 I have written a driver (.c file) by comparing it with an existing driver and "borrowing" heavily from its code. The driver is registered fine and init() and probe() are working fine. I am also able to access the peripheral device registers. :-) However i am a bit hazy about the IRQ/ISR. The peripheral-device is a input device and raises an interrupt on a GPIO pin. How do i move ahead from my current state ( init(), probe(), etc. ) to be able to handle the IRQ and execute my ISR function?? Many-Thanks in Advance

• Find the xmlHttpRequest resource in aspx page

  I'm trying to find an xmlHttpRequest or similar resource that I can query directly to obtain an xml file for my own purposes. At this site it is possible to browse a Google Map mashup with markers. Unfortunately it is only possible to view all markers at a small view range, whereas I simply want to obtain all the information at once for the entire state. Using the firebug console in firefox I can enter the following javascript line to obtain the xml that I desire: document.getElementById("stationXML").value I tracked this document element down to an <input> tag, but I can't figure out how that input is set. • Make is more OOPey - good structure?

  Hi, I just want advice on whether I could improve structure around a particular class which handles all disk access functions The structure of my program is that I have a class called Disk which gets data from flatfiles and databases on a, you guessed it, hard disk drive. I have functions like LoadTextFileToStringList, WriteStringToTextFile, DeleteLineInTextFile etc which are kind of "generic methods" In the same class I also have some more specific methods such as GetXFromDisk where X might be a particular field in a database table/query. Should I separate out the generic methods from the specialised. Should I make another class which inherits the generic methods. At the moment my class is static as there is no need to have an internal state of the class. I'm not really OOPing am I? Thanks Thomas

• How can I programmatically find the IP address/netmask/gateway configured for a specific network dev

  Hi I would like to write a piece of code which checks, for each network device (e.g. eth0, lo, master devices) some statistics and configuration data about that device. I could find the statistics data (and most of the configuration data) in /sys/class/net/..., however, I couldn't find any C/C++ API or any entry in procfs/sysfs listing the inet addr, netmask and gateway. Some alternatives I checked: parsing the output from ifconfig/route/some other utilities: I don't want to start a subprocess every time I need to do the inspection. parsing /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/: will give me only the start-up configuration, and not the current state. Also, since this code is intended for a product in my workplace, where every external library is inspected thoroughly (meaning it will take me forever to add any external library) I prefer solutions which rely on Linux native API and not external libraries. • Generic test suite for ASP.NET Membership/Role/Profile/Session Providers

  Hi! I've just created custom ASP.NET Membership, Role, Profile and Session State providers, and I was wondering whether there exists a test suite or something similar to test the implementation of the providers. I've checked some of the open source providers I could find (like the NauckIt.PostgreSQL provider), but neither of them contained unit tests, and all of the forum topics I've found mentioned only a few test cases (like checking whether creating a user works), but this is clearly not a complete test suite for a Membership provider. (And I couldn't find anything for the other three providers) Are there more or less complete test suites for the above mentioned providers, or are there custom providers out there that have at least some testing avaialable?

• Change the current branch to master in git

  I have a repository in git. I made a branch, then did some changes both to the master and to the branch. Then, tens of commits later, I realized the branch is in much better state than the master, so I want the branch to "become" the master and disregard the changes on master. I cannot merge it, because I don't want to keep the changes on master. What should I do? (this will very possibly be a duplicate question, since it is trivial, but I have not found it here)

• Does a WCF service with basicHttpBinding create a new connection for each request?

  I have a Silverlight client calling a WCF Service on an IIS web server. It uses the default basicHttpBinding setting for the calls. My client code has the usual Visual Studio generated proxy that is generated when using the 'Update Service Reference' menu option. Does every call to the service using that proxy use the same connection? Or does it create a connection each time a call is made and then close it down once the reply is received? As the client is actually making a SOAP call over HTTP I just assumed that every service request had a new connection created but I want to check if that is the case? (I need to know because if it creates a new connection each time then each request could end up at a different server because there are several servers being load balanced. It is uses a single connection for the duration of the proxy then I can assume they all end up at the same machine and so it would cache state.)

• language to create flowcharts

  Hi, This seems like something which must have been answered before, but I can't find anything appropriate in the question archives. Basically, I'm looking for a little Domain Specific Language to create flowcharts. I'm terrible at graphic design and making things look nice, and I'd really like a langauge where I could write something in code and it would produce a pretty flowchart. I've come across GraphViz, but it seems more suited to creating things like Finite State Machine diagrams, rather than process flowcharts. It also doesn't have the simple DSL-style front-end that would allow me to easily work it. Any ideas? I'm sure this must have been done before... Robin

• abandon session in asp.net on browser close..kill session cookie

  So I have a website where I use session start and end events to track and limit open instances of our web application, even on the same computer. On page unload i call a session enabled page method which then called session.abandon. This triggers session end event and clears the session variable but unfortunately does not kill the session cookie!! as a result if other browser instances are open there are problems because their session state just disappeared...and much worse than this when I open the site again with the zombie session still not expired, I get multiple session start and session end events on any subsequent postbacks. This happens on all browsers. so how do I truly kill the session (force the cookie to expire)

• SqlCommand.Paramaters.AddWithValue issue

  Hi I have a problem with the folowwing piece of code. I am passing a parameter (List) to a methods executing the following code. When it executes sql throws an error saying that the proc expects a parameter that was not provided. I know this error and understand it, and when stepping through the code I can see that the cmdExecuteReader object has a collection of parameters, with the correct naame and value. • Python: does it make sense to refactor this check into it's own method?

  I'm still learning python. I just wrote this method to determine if a player has won a game of tic-tac-toe yet, given a board state like:'[['o','x','x'],['x','o','-'],['x','o','o']]' def hasWon(board): players = ['x', 'o'] for player in players: for row in board: if row.count(player) == 3: return player top, mid, low = board for i in range(3): if [ top[i],mid[i],low[i] ].count(player) == 3: return player if [top[0],mid[1],low[2]].count(player) == 3: return player if [top[2],mid[1],low[0]].count(player) == 3: return player return None It occurred to me that I check lists of 3 chars several times and could refactor the checking to its own method like so: def check(list, player): if list.count(player) == 3: return player ...but then realized that all that really does is change lines like: if [ top[i],mid[i],low[i] ].count(player) == 3: return player to: if check( [top[i],mid[i],low[i]], player ): return player ...which frankly doesn't seem like much of an improvement. Do you see a better way to refactor this? Or in general a more Pythonic option? I'd love to hear it!

• Brainfart: How to make overflow content in a div

  I cant even come up with a proper subject for this one... Basically I have a box div, that when click expands to a rectangle and shows content in the new expanded area. The problem I'm having is that when I animate out the div's width, the browser wants to render the content as the box is stretching, rather than just have it placed where I need it. • List service and services status under Win-7

  I have a service monitor app that monitors the status of three other servers app - you know those kind of green, red status stuff, start, stop, etc. The problem is that it shows the wrong state in Windows 7 even if the user is the administrator. The start, stop buttons are disabled and the install button enabled, the status color is grey which is also wrong. The start button should be enabled with the service status showing green - the apps are running. If the application is run with the setting "run as administrator" then it behaves normally. The application is written in Delphi 7 and works perfectly in other versions of Windows. This line of code: OpenSCManager(PChar(sMachine),Nil,SC_MANAGER_ALL_ACCESS) always return 0 under Win7, causing the problem. Any ideas and if possible, any workaround apart from "run as administrator". Regards Ronaldo

  Hello, I'm using ADO.NET entity framework, and am using an AdventureWorks database attached to my local database server. For unit testing, what approaches have people taken to work with a database? Obviously, the database has to be in a pre-defined state of change so that the tests can have some isolation from each other... so I need to be able to run through the inserts and updates, then rollback either between tests or after the batch of tests are done. • Crystal Reports Legends

  Is there a way to force a Bar Chart legend in Crystal Report 11.5 to display its objects in a particular order? For Example, say I am reporting on the consumption of "Bananas" and "Apples" by State. The Bar Chart should display the percentage of people who eat these fruits by county (Percent Bar Chart). The "Apples" percentage always displays on top of the bar chart and the "Bananas" on the bottom. The legend for this graph also displays the "Apple" color first, then the "Banana" color. However, if the "Banana" percentage is 0% the legend displays the "Banana" color first on the legend. This creates a inconsistent report (with plenty of complaints). I would like the "Banana" color to always display second in the legend. Hope I didn't confuse anyone and any ideas would be helpful.

And this is where I'm stuck. I haven't yet found an workaround for this in MVVM adoptation for SL (PRISM is so complex for me yet). Different simple HelloWorldMVVM apps don't deal with at all.   I want to create a login dialog by inheriting QDialog. I put in subclass named LoginDialog 2 QLineEdits: for login for password. I want to be able to warn the user with a message if the caps lock is ON while he will start to fill passwordLineEdit. Suppose I have a function that tells the current state of CapsLock button. So I want to do eventFiltering in LoginDialog class in order to understand that user starts to fill the password field (i.e. user just stepped into the password field) So for that purpose I wrote the following in the LoginDialog class constructor: m_passwordLineEdit->installEventFilter(this); So the only thing is to do is to implement a function which can understand that user is going to fill the password.   hey guys, just having a bit of difficulty with a query, i'm trying to figure out how to show the most popular naturopath that has been visited in a centre. My tables look as follows; Patient(patientId, name, gender, DoB, address, state,postcode, homePhone, businessPhone, maritalStatus, occupation, duration,unit, race, registrationDate , GPNo, NaturopathNo) and Naturopath (NaturopathNo, name, contactNo, officeStartTime, officeEndTime, emailAddress) now to query this i've come up with SELECT count(*), naturopathno FROM dbf10.patient WHERE naturopathno != 'NULL' GROUP BY naturopathno; which results in; COUNT(*) NATUROPATH 2 NP5 1 NP6 3 NP2 1 NP1 2 NP3 1 NP7 2 NP8 My question is, how would I go about selecting the highest count from this list, and printing that value with the naturopaths name?   While reading through some lecture notes on preliminary number theory, I came across the solution to water jug problem (with two jugs) which is summed as thus: Using the property of the G.C.D of two numbers that GCD(a,b) is the smallest possible linear combination of a and b, and hence a certain quantity Q is only measurable by the 2 jugs, iff Q is a n*GCD(a,b), since Q=sA + tB, where: n = a positive integer A = capacity of jug A B= capacity of jug B And, then the method to the solution is discussed Another model of the solution is to model the various states as a state-space search problem as often resorted to in Artificial Intelligence. My question is: What other known methods exist which models the solution, and how? Google didn't throw up much.

• VB.NET overloading array access?

  Hi, Is it possible to overload the array/dict access operators in VB.net? For example, you can state something like: Dim mydict As New Hashtable() mydict.add("Cool guy", "Overloading is dangerous!") mydict("Cool guy") = "Overloading is cool!" And that works just fine. But what I would like to do is be able to say: mydict("Cool guy") = "3" and then have 3 automagically converted to the Integer 3. I mean, sure I can have a private member mydict.coolguy and have setCoolguy() and getCoolguy() methods, but I would prefer to be able to write it the former way if at all possible. Thanks
