• simple jsf application in myeclipse using jBoss

  I am trying to create a new file and write XML to it: FileStream output = File.Create(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, fileName)); The argument evaluates to: C:\path\to\Data\test.xml The exception is: The process cannot access the file 'C:\path\to\Data\test.xml' because it is being used by another process. What am I doing wrong here? UPDATE: This code throws the same exception: StreamWriter writer = new StreamWriter(Path.Combine(PATH_TO_DATA_DIR, fileName)); UPDATE 2: The file I am trying to create does not exist in the file system. So how can be it in use?

  Hello All, I am trying to write a webservice that takes in an XML string, does parsing of it using DOM and extract particular things I want. My XML string happens to be very long so I do not want to pass it as a @QueryParam or @PathParam. Say If I write that XML string into a file, How do I go about writing a RESTful service that takes in this file, extracts whatever I want and return the results. I am actually trying to extract some number of strings, so my output should probably be an ArrayList having all these strings. Could somebody please shed some light on how I should go about doing this. Thanks in advance

  Hi All, I am using XStream to serialize my Objects to XML format. The formatted xml that I get is as below: node1, node2, node 3 are attributes of pojo,DetailDollars 100 25 10 I have requirement where in I have to calucluate a percentage, for example 100/ 25 and add the new node to the existing ones. So, the final output should be : 100 25 10 4 I wrote a custom converter and registered to my xstream object. public void marshal(..){ writer.startNode("node4"); writer.setValue(getNode1()/ getnode2() ); writer.endNode(); } But, the xml stream I get has only the new node: 4 I am not sure which xstream api would get me the desired format. could you please help me with this . • Is there a way to export an XSD schema from a DataContract

  I'm using DataContractSerializer to serialize/deserialize my classes to/from XML. Everything works fine, but at some point I'd like to establish a standard schema for the format of these XML files independent of the actual code. That way if something breaks in the serialization process I can always go back and check what the standard schema should be. Or if I do need to modify the schema the modification is an explicit decision rather then just a later affect of modifying my code. In addition, other people may be writing other software that may not be .NET based that would need to read from these XML files. I'd like to be able to provide them with some kind of documentation of the schema. Is there some relationship between a DataContract and an XSD schema. Is there a way to export the DataContract attributes in classes as an XSD schema?

• C# .Net file in use issue

  I'm having an issue opening files that have recently been closed by the .Net framework. Basically, what happens is the following: -Read in an XML file using DataSet.ReadXml() -Make some changes to the data -Write out the XML file using DataSet.WriteXml() -Copy the XML file to a new location using File.Copy -FTP the file using a custom control This sequence can intermittently fail either after the WriteXML or the File.Copy with a file in use exception. I'm guessing it could be the Windows write cache not flushing right away. Can anyone confirm that this could be causing my issue? Any solutions to suggest? Thanks, Dan

• Rails Action and Fragment Caching during Development?

  I'm just starting to get into Rails caching and am wondering how to test whether or not caching is working in my development environment. I have set these two config variables for both the development (temporarily) and production environments: config.action_controller.perform_caching = true config.action_controller.page_cache_directory = File.join(RAILS_ROOT, 'public', 'cache') And my controller basically looks like this (using the resource_controller gem): class EventsController < Spree::BaseController resource_controller caches_page :index index.response do |format| format.html format.xml { render :xml => @collection.to_xml } end # ... end If I do that, I get these files: public/cache/events.html public/cache/events.xml But when I change caches_page to caches_action, I don't see any generated files and am not sure how to tell if the response has been cached. What do I need to know to know that this is working? I've read the docs and related, the rails caching guides, the railscast, and a few other docs, but I'm still wondering where everything is stored.   I have created an account type using the AccountAuthenticator stuff as done in the SampleSyncAdapter tutorial. I am now trying to get account preferences working. I have added the line android:accountPreferences="@xml/account_preferences" to my account-authenticator and account_preferences.xml looks like so: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <PreferenceScreen xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android"> <PreferenceCategory android:title="@string/alum_settings_title"/> <CheckBoxPreference android:key="sync_alum" android:title="@string/sync_alum" android:summaryOn="@string/sync_alum_check" android:summaryOff="@string/sync_alum_nocheck"/> <ListPreference android:key="sync_alum_since" android:title="@string/alum_years" android:entries="@array/years" android:entryValues="@array/years" android:dependency="sync_alum"/> </PreferenceScreen> The checkbox preference works exactly like it should but the ListPreference crashes the entire system with the following message: 05-14 22:32:16.794: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(63): android.view.WindowManager$BadTokenException: Unable to add window -- token null is not for an application I get the same error with EditTextPreference and with the custom subclass of DialogPreference I created.

It keeps only valid text data without HTML task. This is one of the quite commonly requested tasks many developers have to face everyday. De-fragmentation of Database at Operating System to Improve Performance Operating system skips MDF file while defragging the entire filesystem of the operating system. It is absolutely fine and there is no impact of the same on performance. Read the entire blog post for my conversation with our network engineers. Delay Function – WAITFOR clause – Delay Execution of Commands How do you delay execution of the commands in SQL Server – ofcourse by using WAITFOR keyword. In this blog post, I explain the same with the help of T-SQL script. Find Length of Text Field To measure the length of TEXT fields the function is DATALENGTH(textfield). Len will not work for text field. As of SQL Server 2005, developers should migrate all the text fields to VARCHAR(MAX) as that is the way forward. In this blog you can see how you can do the same. Find Current Identity of Table Many times we need to know what is the current identity of the column. I have found one of my developers using aggregated function MAX () to find the current identity. However, I prefer following DBCC command to figure out current identity. Create Check Constraint on Column Some time we just need to create a simple constraint over the table but I have noticed that developers do many different things to make table column follow rules than just creating constraint. I suggest constraint is a very useful concept and every SQL Developer should pay good attention to this subject. 2009 List Schema Name and Table Name for Database This is one of the blog post where I straight forward display script. One of the kind of blog posts, which I still love to read and write. Clustered Index on Separate Drive From Table Location A table devoid of primary key index is called heap, and here data is not arranged in a particular order, which gives rise to issues that adversely affect performance. Data must be stored in some kind of order. If we put clustered index on it then the order will be forced by that index and the data will be stored in that particular order. Understanding Table Hints with Examples Hints are options and strong suggestions specified for enforcement by the SQL Server query processor on DML statements. The hints override any execution plan the query optimizer might select for a query. 2010 Data Pages in Buffer Pool – Data Stored in Memory Cache One of my earlier year article, which I still read it many times and point developers to read it again. It is clear from the Resultset that when more than one index is used, datapages related to both or all of the indexes are stored in Memory Cache separately. TRANSACTION, DML and Schema Locks Can you create a situation where you can see Schema Lock? Well, this is a very simple question, however during the interview I notice over 50 candidates failed to come up with the scenario. Try to come up with answer in next 10 minutes and if you can’t come up with the answer the blog post read this post for solution. 2012 Simple Explanation and Puzzle with SOUNDEX Function and DIFFERENCE Function In simple words - SOUNDEX converts an alphanumeric string to a four-character code to find similar-sounding words or names. DIFFERENCE function returns an integer value. The  integer returned is the number of characters in the SOUNDEX values that are the same. Read Only Files and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) I have come across a very interesting feature in SSMS related to “Read Only” files. I believe it is a little unknown feature as well so decided to write a blog about the same. Identifying Column Data Type of uniqueidentifier without Querying System Tables How do I know if any table has a uniqueidentifier column and what is its value without using any DMV or System Catalogues? Only information you know is the table name and you are allowed to return any kind of error if the table does not have uniqueidentifier column. Read the blog post to find the answer. Solution – User Not Able to See Any User Created Object in Tables – Security and Permissions Issue Interesting question – “When I try to connect to SQL Server, it lets me connect just fine as well let me open and explore the database. • AJAX vs AHAH Is there a performance advantage?

  My concern is performance, is there a reason to to send the client XML instead of valid HTML? Like most things, I am sure it is application dependent. My specific situation is where there is substantial content being inserted into the web page that has been pulled from a database. What are the advantages of either approach? Is the size of the content even a concern? Or, in the case of using XML, will the time for the Javascript to process the XML into HTML counterbalance the extra time that would have been required to send HTML to start with? Thanks, Jeff

Obviously, these related properties do not get serialized because of these attributes. So for my purposes I just want to remove these "don't serialize me" attributes. I can do a find and replace in the designer code, but any modifications I make in the designer will put these attributes back in. How do I permanently get rid of these attributes? VS 2008 / EF 3.5.

• Can't create flex4 project in flexbuilder using remoting or LiveCycle Data Servcies ES

  I'm trying out the FlasBuilder ide with ColdFusion 8 on OS X. When I try to create a new project, I get stuck at the server setup screen that forces you to validate your paths for your ColdFusion root folder and your webroot. Every combination I try says either "LiveCycle Data Services is not installed at the specified location" or "Invalid root. The WEB-INF/flex folder must contain either flex-config.xml or services-config.xml." The flex-config.xml file is sitting in that directory. Is there some trick to getting this to work?

End Class End Namespace an .hbm.xml file <?xml ...> <hibernate-mapping ...> <import class="model.namecount,model"> </hibernate-mapping> and of course the query _session.createquery("select new namecount(lastname, count(lastname)) ...") (The above is a paraphrased example taken from one of the 2008 SummerofNHibernate videos) I cannot find any examples of how to do this with fluent (even in C#), is it possible? If it isn't is there a VB example of how to mix Fluent and .hbm.xml

  Hi To implement a college project, I need to handle XML files. For this I choose lxml after doing some research. However I can't seem to find some nice tutorial to help me get started. I can't choose most specifically which type of parsing I need to use. My XML files don't have that much data but speed is main concern, not memory. Can anyone point me to some tutorial that would help me or some book that I can lookup? I have already tried the tutorial on lxml site but that didn't help me much. Is there some small application I can look up to get a hang of parsing XML with lxml
