    For J2me It strikes me as odd that you need an extra "api key" and so on. But actually, what I really want is NOT create an extra facebook application that needs to be registered on Facebook. I don't want to create any extra configuration effords necessary for the user of my application to undergo. All my user should need is his well-known login data for facebook. Everything else should be completely transparent to him. So, I thought maybe would u can do the login process, creating a request to the REST server via http. I know this would provide me with an XML. I hope that the this API will somehow automatically transform that XML into an intuitive object model that represents the facebook user data of the respective user. So, I would expect something like userData = new FacebookData(new FacebookConnection("user_name", "password")). Done. If you get, what I mean. No api key. No secret key. Just the well-known login data. Practically, the equivalent to thunderbird webmail, which allows you to access your MSN hotmail account via Thunderbird. Thunderbird webmail will automatically converts the htmls obtained from a hotmail browser login into the data structure usually passed on to a mail client. Hope you get what I mean. I was expecting the equilalent for the your API.

    Hi There, I am currently working on a MySQL query that contains a table: TBL:lesson_fee -fee_type_id (PRI) -lesson_type_id (PRI) -lesson_fee_amount this table contains the fees for a particular 'lesson type' and there are different 'fee names' (fee_type). Which means that there can be many entries in this table for one 'lesson type' In my query I am joining this table onto the rest of the query via the 'lesson_type' table using: lesson_fee INNER JOIN (other joins here) ON lesson_fee.lesson_type_id = lesson_type.lesson_type_id The problem with this is that it is currently returning duplicate data in the result. 1 row for every duplicate entry in the 'lesson fee' table. I am also joining the 'fee type' table using this 'fee_type_id' Is there a way of telling MySQL to say "Join the lesson_fee table rows that have lesson_fee.lesson_type_id and fee_type_id = client.fee_type_id".     I have an HttpModule that looks at the query string for a parameter called "cmd" and executes one of a small set of predefined commands that display server stats in XML. For example, http://server01?cmd=globalstats.   • Windows Phone 7.1.1 Ping

    I am writing an app to connect to a third party application using REST web services. I have a configuration page that asks for an IP, Port, User Name & Password, currently it just blindly assumes you enter the correct details and attempts a connection. I want to create a test routine that goes through and checks off the following steps when setting up the config information Is the IP/Hostname correct (using ping or something) Is the Port correct Is the Username & Password correct then displays the results on screen as it's going so that if it can't connect to the service it's easier to identify where the issue is. To achieve step 1 I would like to use Ping or some equivalent that does not rely on a particular port being open. So I can eliminate dodgy DNS or a typo in the IP/Hostname. I understand from previous questions asked that ping wasn't possible in 7.0 but with Mango the sockets classes have been added in, is it possible now, if so how? If it still isn't possible is there a different way I can achieve step 1?

    Hi there, I am writing a comment-stripper and trying to accommodate for all needs here. I have the below stack of code which removes pretty much all comments, but it actually goes too far. A lot of time was spent trying and testing and researching the regex patterns to match, but I don't claim that they are the best at each. My problem is that I also have situation where I have 'PHP comments' (that aren't really comments' in standard code, or even in PHP strings, that I don't actually want to have removed. Example: <?php $Var = "Blah blah //this must not comment"; // this must comment. ?> What ends up happening is that it strips out religiously, which is fine, but it leaves certain problems: <?php $Var = "Blah blah ?> Also: will also cause problems, as the comment removes the rest of the line, including the ending ? See the problem? So this is what I need... Comment characters within '' or "" need to be ignored PHP Comments on the same line, that use double-slashes, should remove perhaps only the comment itself, or should remove the entire php codeblock.   • cin.getline() equivalent when getting a char from a function.

    From what I understand cin.getLine gets the first char(which I think it a pointer) and then gets that the length. I have used it when cin for a char. I have a function that is returning a pointer to the first char in an array. Is there an equivalent to get the rest of the array into a char that I can use the entire array. I explained below what I am trying to do.   • I can't seem to figure out type variables mixed with classes.

    I pretty much understand 3/4 the rest of the language, but every time I dip my feet into using classes in a meaningful way in my code I get permantently entrenched. Why doesn't this extremely simple code work? data Room n = Room n n deriving Show class HasArea a where width :: (Num n) => a -> n instance (Num n) => HasArea (Room n) where width (Room w h) = w So, room width is denoted by ints or maybe floats, I don't want to restrict it at this point. Both the class and the instance restrict the n type to Nums, but it still doesn't like it and I get this error: Couldn't match expected type `n1' against inferred type `n' `n1' is a rigid type variable bound by the type signature for `width' at Dungeon.hs:11:16 `n' is a rigid type variable bound by the instance declaration at Dungeon.hs:13:14 In the expression: w In the definition of `width': width (Room w h) = w In the instance declaration for `HasArea (Room n)' So it tells me the types doesn't match, but it doesn't tell me what types it thinks they are, which would be really helpful. As a side note, is there any easy way to debug an error like this? The only way I know to do it is to randomly change stuff until it works.

    I am working on a reader app. when you read one magazine, it will display first five pages and download the rest pages one by one. there is a scrollview to view the thumbnail image of pages. At the beginning, if the page needs downloading, the corresponding thumbnail view's alpha value is set to 0.5. when the page is downloaded, i will update the thumbnail view's value to 1.0. I use one operation to download the page, and when one is downloaded i use delegate to set thumbnail view's alpha. But when i update thumbnail view's alpha value, it still the same as the beginning. it seems the alpha has no effect.   • What are the best websites/web applications for specific languages?

    Browsing around Stackoverflow, I get overwhelmed with the number of "Why should I learn Python/Ruby/PHP/.Net/jQuery..." and the list goes on. Most answers, although good, are usually battles from language A programmer to language B programmer detailing why one piece sucks more than another. People can discuss the theoretical benefits of one over another but in the end, money/glitz talks and the rest walks. I am more interested in the potential opportunity that can come from one language or another over others. A little background, I am a project manager turned novice 'programmer' out of corporate necessity within the small company I currently work with so I have both relatively no set preference or experience, more out of curiosity. While I realize all are not created equal and for similar things, I think it would be interesting to start a list of the best websites / web applications built on specific languages/frameworks just to highlight the possibilities with each and give somebody like me motivation to say "How the heck was that done?   • Background loading javascript into iframe without using jQuery/Ajax?

    I'm working on an offline only help system which requires loading a large amount of search-related data into an iframe before the search functionality can be used. Due to the folder structure of the project, I am unable to use Ajax-related background load methods, since the files I need are loaded a few directories "up and over." I have written some code which delays the loading of the help data until the rest of the webpage is loaded. The help data consists of a bunch of javascript files which have information about the terms, ect that exist in the help books which are installed on the system. The webpage works fine, until I start to load this help data into a hidden iframe. While the javascript files are loading, I can not use any of the webpage. Links that require a small files be downloaded for hover over effects don't show up, javascript (switching tabs on the page) has no effect. I'm wondering if this is just a limitation of the way javascript works, or if there's something else going on here.   • C Map String to Function

    So, I'm making a Unix minishell, and have come to a roadblock. I need to be able to execute built-in functions, so I made a function: int exec_if_built_in(char **args) It takes an array of strings(the first being the command, and the rest being arguments). For non built-in commands I simply use something like execvp, however I need to find a way to map the first string to a function. I was thinking of making two arrays, one of strings, and another with their corresponding function pointers. However, since many of these functions will be different(return and accept different things), this approach won't work. I also thought of making an array of structs with a name property and a function pointer property, however once again due to the varied nature of the functions I'll be using, this won't work. So, what's the best way to execute a function based on the input of a string? How do I map a string to a certain function? I'm not very familiar with function pointers so I may be missing something.   • selective UnknownHostException

    Hi everybody! I am getting said Exception in my program, but only in certain cases. First of all, I have the internet permission set:<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" />, and I tried the two method of this and this thread (they don't work in my case). The scenario is the following: I send a GET request to a rest service (e.g. http://my.web.site/request.php?attr=blah) and I do get a correct xml back. Now, in this xml there are some resources described, one of which is an url to an image (e.g http://my.web.site/images/img.jpg). Here it's where it fails! Here I consistently receive a UnknownHostException. I find it weird, since it's the same domain and everything. Accessing the img url from browser works (both from the emulator browser and pc browser). I tried from a device too but it doesn't get the image anyway. Any idea on why this weird behavior? EDIT: all my tests were on emulator and device, but connected to a wifi network. I tried also using the internet connection of my provider on the phone (i.e. bypassing home network), and still the behavior is the same... I found this bug which I assume is the source of this problem, but still no solution (after more than 1.5years). Any ideas?

    Android SDK Manager complains "WARNING: Java not found in your path". Instead of using the information from Windows registry, the software tries to search Java in the default installation folders, and fails (I don't install software in program files because I don't like space characters in my paths). Of course I know how to modify the %PATH% environment variable. The question is — which Java does it need? After installing the latest JDK, I’ve got 4 distinct versions of java.exe file, in the following 4 folders: system32, jre6\bin, jdk1.6.0_26\bin, and jdk1.6.0_26\jre\bin. Size ranges from 145184 to 171808. All of them print version “1.6.0_26” when launched with the “-version” argument. The one in system32 has .exe version “6.0.250.6”, the rest of them is “6.0.260.3”. All 4 files are different (I’ve calculated the MD5 checksums). Q1. Which folder should I add to %PATH% to make the Android SDK happy? Q2. Why does Oracle build that many variants of java.exe of the same version for the same platform? Thanks in advance! P.S. I'm using Windows 7 SP1 x64 home premium, and downloaded the 64-bit version of JDK, jdk-6u26-windows-x64.exe.

I have a query that looks like this: <?php $query =<<<eot SELECT table_x.field1, table_x.field2, table_y.*, table_z.field4 FROM ( SELECT ... ) as table_y LEFT JOIN table_x ON table_x.field1 = table_y.field_x LEFT JOIN table_z ON table_z.field1 = table_y.field_z WHERE table_x.field3 = '$something' AND table_z.field4 = '1' AND table_z.field5 = '2' eot; ?> I have a lot of other tests on $something before it gets used, like $something = explode(' ',$something); (which later result in a string) none of them intend to prevent injection but they make it hard for the given injection to get as is to the actual query. However, there are ways. We all know how easy it is to replace a space for something else which is still valid.. So, it's not really a problem to make a potentially harmful piece of SQL reach that $something... But is there any way to comment the rest of the original query string if it is multi-line? I can comment AND table_z.field4 = '1' using ;-- but can't comment the following AND table_z.field5 = '2' Is it possible to open a multi-line comment /* without closing it or something looked like and therefore allow the injection to ignore the multi-line query?

  • Questions about shifting from mysql to PDO

    Hey guys I have recently decided to switch all my current plain mysql queries performed with php mysql_query to PDO style queries to improve performance, portability and security. I just have some quick questions for any experts in this database interaction tool Will it prevent injection if all statements are prepared? (I noticed on php.net it wrote 'however, if other portions of the query are being built up with unescaped input, SQL injection is still possible' I was not exactly sure what this meant). Does this just mean that if all variables are run through a prepare function it is safe, and if some are directly inserted then it is not? Currently I have a connection at the top of my page and queries performed during the rest of the page. I took a look at PDO in more detail and noticed that there is a try and catch procedure for every query involving a connection and the closing of that connection. Is there a straightforward way to connecting and then reusing that connection without having to put everything in a try or constantly repeat the procedure by connecting, querying and closing? Can anyone briefly explain in layman's terms what purpose a set_exception_handler serves? I appreciate any advice from any more experienced individuals.
