  • How to write rules for persistent net names?

    - by ndemou
I know that a process generates persistent network card names based on rules found in /lib/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules. I also know how to completely disable this process with a simple echo '#' > /etc/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules but I've read that I "could also write my own rules file to give the interface a name — the persistent rules generator ignores the interface if a name has already been set" (/etc/udev/rules.d/README confirms that this is possible). Do you have any pointers to documentation about how to write such rules? (I mostly care about Debian/Ubuntu and a bit less for CentOS) As a specific example of why I want to write custom rules: I have two identical servers with one onboard LAN and one PCI LAN. In case of HW failure I want to be able to move disks from HW#1 to HW#2 and it's important for eth0 to continue pointing to the onboard card and eth1 to the PCI card (no one wants to mess with cabling in the middle of a HW failure panic). My current workaround works but is a lot of work[1] so I wonder if writing custom rules would allow me to express something simple like this: cards with MAC A or B should be named eth0 cards with MAC C or D should be named eth1 follow default naming scheme for anything else [1] install the OS in HW#1 and keep a copy of /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. Move the disks to HW#2 and keep a second copy of the same file. Concatenate the two copies and manually edit the NAME="ethX" part. Replace /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules with my version. Finally disable auto-creation of a new 70-persistent-net.rules using echo '#' > /etc/udev/rules.d/75-persistent-net-generator.rules

  • How do I do a mail merge that includes images? (Maybe in Word 2007)

    - by Ian Ringrose
I am trying to find out the practicalities of doing a mail merge when each “record” to be merged on includes some images. I need to: print letters And envelopes Both the letters and the envelopes have: Fixed text Fixed images Text that come from the mail merge record Images that come from the mail merge record I don’t know if all images will be the same size for every record, so a bit of simple “on the fly” automatic formatting may be needed . I need to be able to repeat a single item if I get a problem (e.g when folding the letter). What problems am I likely to have? Is Word 2007 up to this sort of mail merging, or should I be looking at a report writing tool? How do I restart a print run after a printer jam etc? What format should I store the “records” and there images in? E.g Can standard software cope with images that are stored in separate files named after the “CustomerId” that is in the “record” (I can write custom software if needed, but would rather use standard “of-the-shelf” software for the printing, I am planning on custom software for the data creation, so can output in whatever format is needed)

  • FTP Scripting Capabilities

    - by lmg
I am looking for an FTP client that will allow me to do the following Include a GUI for setting up a number of FTP connections Support FTPS Run unattended on Windows Server 2008 Retry failed transactions Support email Support custom scripts I need to pull files from a few different servers and there are certain calculations that need to be done depending on which server the files come from. I've looked at SmartFTP and it looks like pretty much what I need except I can't get it to run as a Windows Scheduled Task (I currently have some support threads open in their forum). I've also looked at a few other FTP clients (Filezilla, RoboFTP, and AutoFTP (you can find the Windows 7 BSOD in this one!)) that haven't had the capabilities I'm looking for. Right now, I'm looking at WS_FTP and its scripting capabilities. It appears I can create a script to run as a scheduled task, but I can't add the script to a file transfer task. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can do post-transfer processing on the files or better yet how to integrate scripting into the file transfer task? I'm also open to other suggestions for FTP clients as well if you have them! If I can't find a suitable FTP client, custom scripting will just have to do the trick.

  • Looking for VCS wrapper that tracks system files changing across the whole *nix OS and sends diffs through email

    - by nextus
I need some software that looks after custom directories across the whole OS (i.e. /etc) and alerting me if someone edit something file inside. Additionally, this tool must automatically commit and push changes into backup server, so I can easily determine when specific change in specific file was made. I'm using cvsbackup right now but I want to create or found something more modern. I think using git as VCS is a great idea. I could have local repository and easily revert changes in my configuration files. Furthermore, pushing changes to the remote repository would helps me to recover my configuration files when the server is fault. It doesn't seems difficult to write some wrapper around the git but there are a lot of problems. For example, I need to track custom directories: /usr/local/nginx/ and /etc/. So the destination point for my git repository is /. I don't need to track the other directories so I must to write overwhelming .gitignore rule: * !.gitignore !/etc/ !etc/* !/usr /usr/* !/usr/local /usr/local/* !/usr/local/nginx !/usr/local/nginx/* It's very daunting and prone to error. So it's maybe a good idea to create intermediate file that wrapper reads and converts to .gitignore format. Additionally, I don't want to keep my .git folder in / partition so I need to set appropriate GIT_DIR and GIT_WORK_TREE variables for git. Is there any ready to use tools for implementation this task? I don't found any but I don't believe that no one needs this feature.

  • file doesn't open, running outside of debugger results in seg fault (c++)

Hello (and thanks in advance) I'm in a bit of a quandry, I cant seem to figure out why I'm seg faulting. • Exception seem in an eclipse GMF application when file not present in workspace

    - by rush00121
    I am developing a GMF application . In this situation , I start my workspace and load a file in the workspace . Then I close the workspace and then delete the file from the workspace . After that, I try to restart my application and restore the workspace . Of course , now since the file does not exist , there are going to be exceptions . I tried a lot to handle these exceptions but if I try to get rid of one exception , then another pops up . Does anyone know what methods do I have to override in order to handle this situation correctly . I am attaching the stacktrace that I get in this exception for a better picture . org.eclipse.core.runtime.CoreException: ERROR at org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.diagram.ui.resources.edito r.parts.DiagramDocumentEditor.createPartControl(Di agramDocumentEditor.java:1509) at com.fnfr.itest.topology.tbml.diagram.custom.part.S ingleFileTbmlDiagramEditor.createPartControl(Singl eFileTbmlDiagramEditor.java:120) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorReference.createPart Helper(EditorReference.java:662) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorReference.createPart (EditorReference.java:462) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.WorkbenchPartReference.get Part(WorkbenchPartReference.java:595) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorAreaHelper.setVisibl eEditor(EditorAreaHelper.java:271) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorManager.setVisibleEd itor(EditorManager.java:1417) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.EditorManager$5.runWithExc eption(EditorManager.java:942) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.StartupThreading$StartupRu nnable.run(StartupThreading.java:31) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.RunnableLock.run(RunnableL ock.java:35) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Synchronizer.runAsyncMessa ges(Synchronizer.java:134) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runAsyncMessages(D isplay.java:3855) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Di splay.java:3476) at org.eclipse.ui.application.WorkbenchAdvisor.openWi ndows(WorkbenchAdvisor.java:803) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench$28.runWithExcept ion(Workbench.java:1384) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.StartupThreading$StartupRu nnable.run(StartupThreading.java:31) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.RunnableLock.run(RunnableL ock.java:35) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Synchronizer.runAsyncMessa ges(Synchronizer.java:134) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.runAsyncMessages(D isplay.java:3855) at org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Display.readAndDispatch(Di splay.java:3476) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.runUI(Workbench. java:2316) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.access$4(Workben ch.java:2221) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench$5.run(Workbench. java:500) at org.eclipse.core.databinding.observable.Realm.runW ithDefault(Realm.java:332) at org.eclipse.ui.internal.Workbench.createAndRunWork bench(Workbench.java:493) at org.eclipse.ui.PlatformUI.createAndRunWorkbench(Pl atformUI.java:149) at com.fnfr.svt.rcp.Application.runWorkbench(Applicat ion.java:205) at com.fnfr.svt.rcp.Application.start(Application.jav a:190) at org.eclipse.equinox.internal.app.EclipseAppHandle. run(EclipseAppHandle.java:194) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseA ppLauncher.runApplication(EclipseAppLauncher.java: 110) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.internal.adaptor.EclipseA ppLauncher.start(EclipseAppLauncher.java:79) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.ru n(EclipseStarter.java:368) at org.eclipse.core.runtime.adaptor.EclipseStarter.ru n(EclipseStarter.java:179) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke0(Nativ e Method) at sun.reflect.NativeMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Unknow n Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingMethodAccessorImpl.invoke(Un known Source) at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Unknown Source) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.invokeFramework( Main.java:559) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.basicRun(Main.ja va:514) at org.eclipse.equinox.launcher.Main.run(Main.java:13 11) Add to rshah's Reputation

  • EJB3 - using 2 persistence units within a transaction (Exception: Local transaction already has 1 no

    - by Sorcha
I am trying to use 2 persistence units within the same transaction in a JEE application deployed on Glassfish. The 2 persistence units are defined in persistence.xml, as follows: <persistence-unit name="BeachWater"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWater</jta-data-source> ... <persistence-unit name="LIMS"> <jta-data-source>jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS</jta-data-source> ... These persistence units correspond to JDBC resources and connection pools which I had defined in Glassfish as follows (include one here as both are identical apart from names & database connection info): JDBC Resource: JNDI Name: jdbc/BeachWaterLIMS Pool Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnectionPoolDataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.ConnectionPoolDataSource There are 3 stateless session beans, LimsServiceBean, AnalysisServiceBean and AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean. Here are the relevant snippets from LimsServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "LIMS") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<Sample> getLatestLIMSData() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("Sample.findBySubTypeStatus"); return new ArrayList<Sample>(q.getResultList()); } From AnalysisServiceBean: @PersistenceContext(unitName = "BeachWater") EntityManager em; ... public ArrayList<AnalysisType> getAllAnalysisTypes() { Query q = em.createNamedQuery("AnalysisType.findAll"); return new ArrayList<AnalysisType>(q.getResultList()); } And from AnalysisDataTransformationServiceBean: @EJB private AnalysisService analysisService; @EJB private LimsService limsService; public void transformData() { List<AnalysisType> analysisTypes = analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes(); ArrayList<Sample> samples = limsService.getLatestLIMSData(); This call to limsService.getLatestLIMSData() caused the following exception: [exec] Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException [exec] Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. Cause: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Local transaction already has 1 non-XA Resource: cannot add more resources. Having consulted this page, http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms378484.aspx (among many others), I tried changing the definition of the connection pools to: Connection Pool: Name: BEACHWATER_LIMS Datasource Classname: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerXADataSource Resource Type: javax.sql.XADataSource Ping via the Glassfish admin console succeeds, but call to analysisService.getAllAnalysisTypes() now throws an exception: Caused by: javax.ejb.TransactionRolledbackLocalException: Exception thrown from bean; nested exception is: Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.1 (Build b60e-fcs (12/23/2008))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException Internal Exception: java.sql.SQLException: Error in allocating a connection. • Avoiding first chance exception messages when the exception is safely handled

    - by CVertex
The following bit of code catches the EOS Exception using (var reader = new BinaryReader(httpRequestBodyStream)) { try { while (true) { bodyByteList.Add(reader.ReadByte()); } } catch (EndOfStreamException) { } } So why do I still receive first-chance exceptions in my console? A first chance exception of type 'System.IO.EndOfStreamException' occurred in mscorlib.dll Is there a way to hide these first chance exception messages?

However upon activation, the load function does never fire. What is my mistake? (There are no javascript exceptions)

  • Globally Log Catch Exception e

    - by sqlBugs
Suppose that I have a legacy java application with thousands of lines of code which do: try { // stuff } catch (Exception e) { // eat the exception } Is there any global option that I could flip or 3rd party JAR which would log all "eaten" exceptions? I know that I could do a massive find replace (search for catch (Exception e) { and replace it with catch(Exception e) { logException(e);) but I was wondering if there was a better solution. Thanks!

  • Filter on exception text in elmah

    - by Uwe
Is there a way to filter exceptions in elma using the exception message? Examples: "System.Web.HttpException: Request timed out." I don't want to filter out all HttpException, but only the timed-out requests. "System.Web.HttpException: Maximum request length exceeded." What I don't want to do is write own code for that. So is it possible to do this with the buildin-web.config configuration? Thank you!

  • NLog: Force BufferingTargetWrapper to empty on AppDomain UnhandledException

    - by Superdumbell
I have NLog configured in my application to to use the BufferingTargetWrapper for sending emails with the MailTarget. The problem I'm running into is I can not find a way to force NLog to empty the BufferingTargetWrapper before the application exits from Unhandled Exceptions. I tried calling LogManager.Flush() and LogManager.DisableLogging() from the Current App Domain's UnhandledException Event but it does not seam to work. What would I need to do to make it send the emails?

  • making python 2.6 exception backward compatible

    - by m2o
I have the following python code: try: pr.update() except ConfigurationException as e: returnString=e.line+' '+e.errormsg This works under python 2.6, but the "as e" syntax fails under previous versions. How can I resolved this? Or in other words, how do I catch user-defined exceptions (and use their instance variables) under python 2.6. Thank you!

  • WebHttpBinding: Log all errors to service logfile

    - by W van Noort
    I have a self-hosted WCF service that uses a WebHttpBinding. In the implementation of the service, all exceptions are caught and a appropriate message is returned to the caller. All exceptions are also logged to the service logfile. catch (Exception ex) { _log.Error("Error posting message", ex); WebOperationContext.Current.OutgoingResponse.StatusCode = HttpStatusCode.InternalServerError; return string.Format("{0}:error={1}", (int)HttpStatusCode.InternalServerError, ex.Message); } However, some situations are intercepted by the WCF framework. e.g.: when the client sends a message that exceeds the configured quotum, i never get an entry in my log file. In fact, i only found this, by adding this to the config file, and inspecting the generated trace file. <system.diagnostics> <sources> <source name="System.ServiceModel" switchValue="Information, ActivityTracing" propagateActivity="true"> <listeners> <add name="xml" /> </listeners> </source> <source name="CardSpace"> <listeners> <add name="xml" /> </listeners> </source> <source name="System.IO.Log"> <listeners> <add name="xml" /> </listeners> </source> <source name="System.Runtime.Serialization"> <listeners> <add name="xml" /> </listeners> </source> <source name="System.IdentityModel"> <listeners> <add name="xml" /> </listeners> </source> </sources> <sharedListeners> <add name="xml" type="System.Diagnostics.XmlWriterTraceListener" initializeData="c:\test\Traces.svclog" /> </sharedListeners> Is there a way to get these kind of errors visible in my own logfile?

  • Which org.apache.http is android using? And where can i get that as a jar?

    - by Janusz
At the moment I'm trying to build some integration tests for an android project. I would like to use the same apache http classes I use on the android. Which version is this and can I get a jar of that somewhere? Trying to use the jar that comes with android only resolves in Exceptions... But most of the tests won't need running them in the emulator all the time just because I use some apache libraries or do they?

  • Cost of creating exception compared to cost of logging it

    - by Sebastien Lorber
Hello, Just wonder how much cost to raise a java exception (or to call native fillInStackTrace() of Throwable) compared to what it cost to log it with log4j (in a file, with production hard drive)... Asking myself, when exceptions are raised, does it worth to often log them even if they are not necessary significant... (i work in a high load environment) Thanks
