  • How can Hosting Providers allow .NET Full Trust?

    I wondered how certain .NET hosting providers can safely grant full trust to their customers? Doesn't this open up everybody who is hosting with that company to potential safety issues? Or is there a way to safely restrict each customer, despite giving full trust, to "their" space without giving them the abiliy to bring down the system or spy on other customers?

  • Recommendations for a .NET component to access an email inbox

    I've been asked to write a Windows service in C# to periodically monitor an email inbox and insert the details of any messages received into a database table. My instinct is to do this via POP3 and sure enough, Googling for ".NET POP3 component" produces countless (ok, 146,000) results. Has anybody done anything similar before and can you recommend a decent component that won't break the bank (a few hundred dollars maximum)? Would there be any benefits to using IMAP rather than POP3?

    I have written a crawler in Perl awhile back and it was super simple giving the high-level capability of libwww-perl. It is so straight forward in fact, it can take the raw HTML response of one request, and create the next HTTP request for you from the FORMs on that page (as in it will parse the HTML for you). Does anyone know any library like this on .NET or Java? Selenium is out of question because it requires the browser to be open, which we cannot accommodate in our implementation)

    In ASP.NET, binding a DataGrid to a list of objects is super-easy. I end up with a row for each object in the list, and any cell in a given row is bound to a property of the corresponding object. However, suppose one of the properties of my object is a dictionary, and each is expected to contain a specific key. Is there any way to bind one of my DataGridColumns to that dictionary key?     Is it possible to have a vb.net program sound the PC's internal speaker? you know the one that produces C's \a BELL I have tried beep(), but this only produces the error sound on the sound card.     I have my ASP.NET web.config set with impersonation <identity impersonate="true" userName="domainName\userName" password="userPassword" /> I'm running some a method like IO.Directory.GetFiles(somePath) And monitoring the file system access with Process Monitor I keep getting all the access requests from the aspnet_wp.exe process to the folder, as the ASPNET user. Why am I not seeing the access as the impersonated user?

  • asp.net not deserializing soap response

    Hi all, I have been given a wsdl and have used wsdl.exe to create my proxy classes. I am able to call the function to initiate the request with some valid parameters and this returns my response object which is always EMPTY. When i inspect the soap message response using fiddler the soap does have valid data that should be deserialzed to the proxy classes. Can i manually intercept the derserializing call of the proxy classes generated by wsdl and check that .net is correctly derializing the soap response? Thank you

    .NET provides a great library for working with SMTP for sending messages, however, there is not an implementation of a Pop3 client, or IMAP client for working with receiving e-mail from a mail host. Does anyone know of a good component that can provide Pop, IMAP, or both support? I know that code project has implementations, but from my experience finding a "good" one is hard.
