  • Information sent in an HTML form

    Hi, I've a HTML file that shows to the user the contents of a database (it is shown as a table). The user can choose one of the rows.When this is done the selection made by the user is sent to a servlet that will work with that information. Imagine that this servlet is going to look for files related to the information chosen by the user. What I'd like to do is to provide the user with the option of also choosing the number of files that are going to be looked for by the servlet. That way the user should be able to choose one of the rows shown in the table and should also be able of typing the numers of files that are to be looked for. So far I'm able to send to the servlet what the user chooses in the table, but I'd like to know if it is possible to attach to this information the number of files requested. Thanks

My data: There are 3 seasons, with 3 episodes each one, but there is only translation for one episode. My objetive: I want to get a list of all the seasons and episodes for a show. If there is a translation available in a specified language, show it, otherwise show null.   • How do I view how many concurrent long polling requests there are on my server?

    My host is Joyent. My host says I have 15 process limit and prstat -J shows those processes but that doesn't tell me how many long polling requests are currently being served. I could record it myself but that would add alot of performance overhead. I need to know when the server is at its long polling limits. I know this limit occurs far before the memory or CPU is used up. From experimentation, I've already verified that the number of long polls open is NOT equivalant to the number of processes running, probably because each process has multiple threads, each serving a request. thanks.

    I'm working on new data type for arbitrary length numbers (only non-negative integers) and I got stuck at implementing square root and exponentiation functions (only for natural exponents). Please help. I store the arbitrary length number as a string, so all operations are made char by char. Please don't include advices to use different (existing) library or other way to store the number than string. It's meant to be a programming exercise, not a real-world application, so optimization and performance are not so necessary. If you include code in your answer, I would prefer it to be in either pseudo-code or in C++. The important thing is the algorithm, not the implementation itself. Thanks for the help.

  • Hide other domains' menus from node edit form on a Drupal site using domain access

    I'm in the process of making some improvements to a live Drupal site that's using the Domain Access module to run a number of microsites. I'm trying to find a way of restricting the menus a user can post content to from the node edit screen. A user on one of the domains should only be able to post content to menus associated with that domain. Is there a simple way of achieving this? I'm guessing there are some hooks I could use, but so far I have been unable to identify them. I'd prefer not to have to install further modules to achieve this and to be able to add some code to the current site to alter the forms. The site is struggling with the large number of modules we've had to install on it already.

    So I'm having a very strange error right now. Any ideas what causes this and how I can fix this? I'm using Python 2.6.1.

  • Optimize slow ranking query

    I need to optimize a query for a ranking that is taking forever (the query itself works, but I know it's awful and I've just tried it with a good number of records and it gives a timeout). I'll briefly explain the model. I have 3 tables: player, team and player_team. I have players, that can belong to a team. Obvious as it sounds, players are stored in the player table and teams in team. In my app, each player can switch teams at any time, and a log has to be mantained. However, a player is considered to belong to only one team at a given time. The current team of a player is the last one he's joined. The structure of player and team is not relevant, I think. I have an id column PK in each. In player_team I have: id (PK) player_id (FK -> player.id) team_id (FK -> team.id) Now, each team is assigned a point for each player that has joined. So, now, I want to get a ranking of the first N teams with the biggest number of players. My first idea was to get first the current players from player_team (that is one record top for each player; this record must be the player's current team). I failed to find a simple way to do it (tried GROUP BY player_team.player_id HAVING player_team.id = MAX(player_team.id), but that didn't cut it. I tried a number of querys that didn't work, but managed to get this working. SELECT COUNT(*) AS total, pt.team_id, p.facebook_uid AS owner_uid, t.color FROM player_team pt JOIN player p ON (p.id = pt.player_id) JOIN team t ON (t.id = pt.team_id) WHERE pt.id IN ( SELECT max(J.id) FROM player_team J GROUP BY J.player_id ) GROUP BY pt.team_id ORDER BY total DESC LIMIT 50 As I said, it works but looks very bad and performs worse, so I'm sure there must be a better way to go. Even for same size the program at different times could take different time. Suggest changes (e.g. use list instead of vector), which makes the time a function of number of inputs.

  • Duplicate ID/indexes and looping

    I realize having two elements in the same html doc with the same ID is wrong, bad, immoral, and will lead to global warming. But... I'm trying to write an XSS widgit, so I really have no control over the quality of the parent web page. I loop through document.images to retrieve a list of images on the page. I perform an action on each one. for(img in document.images){ ... } i've also tried for(var i=0;i<document.images.length;i++){ ... } in both cases it allows me to loop through all of the elements, BUT when trying trying to reference an object with a duplicate ID, I always get the first (in order of the html). When using debugger in IE8 i'm able to see that both elements ARE listed, but that they both have the same index (in IE the index of the document.images is either sequential or matches the image ID) Does anyone have a better solution?

  • Monitoring .NET ASP.NET Applications

    I have a number of applications running on top of ASP.NET I want to monitor. The main things I care about are: Exceptions: We currently some custom code which will email us when an exception occurs. If the application is failing hard it will crash our outlook... I know (and use) elmah which partly solves the problem however it is still just a big table of exceptions with a pretty(ish) UI. I want something that makes sense of all of these exceptions (e.g. groups exceptions, alerts when new ones occur, tells me what the common ones are that I should fix, etc) Logging: We currently log to files which are then accessible via a shared folder which dev's grep & tail. Does anyone know of better ways of presenting this information. In an ideal world I want to associate it with exceptions. Performance: Request times, memory usage, cpu, etc. whatever stats I can get I'm guessing this is probably going to be solved by a number of tools, has anyone got any suggestions?

  • How can I generate a random human-readable colour from a seed? C#

    Got a logfile, and it has all kinds of text in it. Currently it is just displayed as one colour, and each entry says something like: Log from section 1: Some text here Log from section 125: Some text here Log from section 17: Some text here Log from section 1: Some text here Log from section 125: Some text here Log from section 1: Some text here Log from section 17: Some text here Now the logfile is displayed in real time, and it would be nice to make the rows with the same section number the same colour. However there could be potentially quite a large range of numbers. What I want to do is create a method that will take a number, and randomly generate a unique colour. The colour must be readable against a black background though, so #000000 is no good, nor is #101010 or anything too dark to read. Ideally two similar numbers will not produce the same colour because in the above examples, the numbers 1 and 17 might be too similar, and some numbers might be in the 10,000 range. Any ideas on this?

    Is it possible to have a circular menu or dock using css or jquery.? I have a set of images as the dock items that need to be displayed as a circular dock... however the number of items in the dock are not constant and may vary.... so i cannot tend to use constant values for positioning each item in a pre-defined manner. Ajax loads some images into this particular div and i need to use css or jquery to style this so that they get displayed as circular dock items. Any idea on how this can be implemented..? I would like a browser in-specific implementation, but i also welcome if some one has some solutions specific to few browsers... UPDATE I don't think i exactly want a pie menu... it easily gets messed up as the number of dock items increase. I am looking for a spiral dock. and by spiral i mean that the menu items must be in the following alignment..

  • UIPickerView and empty core data array

    I have a viewcontroller showing items from a core data entity. I also have a tableview listing records from the same entity. The table is editable, and the user could remove all the records. When this happens, the view controller holding the pickerview bombs because it's looking for records in an empty array. How to prevent this?   • (Wordpress) Global variable to detect pagination?

    I am showing 6 posts on one page. On the 7th post, pagination occurs on so on. goal: If there is more than one page (page 1, 2, 3, etc..), JavaScript is to add a specific div element. If there are only 6 posts or less, no pagination occurs, no div element is added. The number of posts to show: $showposts = get_query_var('showposts'); The current post number I can keep track of: $post_count++; Problem is I can keep track of posts 1-6 but how to tell if if it goes over to 7 and starts pagination? I thought there was a global variable that returns if pagination occurs, but I can't seem to find it. (I know there is global to detect pagination via <!--nextpage--> but so far I can't find it's equivalent for index.php).

    I'm currently learning C++ and i run into the simple problem of converting an int to a string. I've worked around it using: string IntToString(int Number) { stringstream Stream; Stream << Number; return Stream.str(); } but though it would be more elegant to use something like: int x = 5; string y = x.toString(); but how do i add the toString() method to a built in type? or am i missing something totally fundamental?

  • Is this possible with Sql 2005 CTE?

    I have been working on a query that will return a suggested start date for a manufacturing line based on due date and the number of minutes needed to complete the task. There is a calendar table(LINE_ID, CALENDAR_DATE, SCHEDULED_MINUTES) that displays per manufacturing line, the number of minutes scheduled for that day. Example: (Usually 3 shifts worth of time scheduled per day, no weekends but can vary) 1, 06/8/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/7/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 1, 06/6/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/5/2010 00:00:00.000, 0 1, 06/4/2010 00:00:00.000, 1440 In order to get the suggested start date, I need to start with the due date and iterate downward through the days until i have accumulated enough time to complete the task. My Question can something like this be done with CTE, or is this something that should be handled by a cursor. Or... am i just going about this the wrong way completely??
