  • Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange – Version 1.1 Now Available!

    Since its announcement at Oracle OpenWorld 2012, the Enterprise Manager Extensibility Exchange is becoming the source to access Enterprise Manager entities, including plug-ins, connectors, deployment procedures, assemblies, templates, and more.  Based on feedback, the Exchange has recently been updated so Enterprise Manager administrators can find and access Oracle and partner-built plug-ins and connectors easier. The Exchange enables anyone to contribute an Enterprise Manager entity through the “Contribute” tab, where information about the entity is captured and placed on the Exchange once it is approved.  The Exchange encourages comment through the Enterprise Manager Forum.  An Oracle partner can build a plug-in by accessing the Extensibility Development Kit (EDK) found at the Development Resources tab.  Oracle partners and customers can can also engage a partner that has built its practice specializing in plug-in development and deployment.  One of those partners is Blue Medora, which has effectively used the EDK to build plug-ins to manage non-Oracle targets.  Next week Blue Medora will be a "Guest Blogger" and tell a great story about heterogeneous datacenter management.Partners can also have their plug-ins validated through the Oracle Validated Integration (OVI) program.  NetApp is an example of a partner that recently built an Enterprise Manager plug-in and has validated it through the program.  Check back here in two weeks for their blog post describing the value of an Enterprise Manager "OVI" plug-in as well as discuss specifics the NetApp storage plug-in.  Check out the NetApp Enterprise Manager Validated Integration datasheet in the meantime.   • Removing demo of a program when it insists that the full version be removed first

    I have a program that i both recently installed the demo for, and just installed the full version of. When i try to uninstall the demo, it says that an existing version of the program was found at the full program's path, and must be removed before the installer can be launched. I just want to uninstall the demo; is there any way without removing the full version of the software? (if it matters, it's Sins of a Solar Empire, but i'm hoping it won't get closed as that's merely incidental)

    I have a trouble with ATI driver with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. When I install ATI driver in Ubuntu 12.04 via "Additional Driver", then I can't shutdown Ubuntu, it showed blank (black) screen and my laptop still run. Sometimes, my screen like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9_iygesbBM But when I install Ubuntu 10.04 and install ATI driver via "Additional Driver", it's very good and no trouble I've seen. It's sweet but 10.04 is old and is supported to 4/2013. So I want to know why Ubuntu 10.04 works good better than 12.04 with ATI driver (in my case)?

    It's been some time since I have posted an entry. Now, with the release of Oracle Communications Calendar Server 7 Update 3, it seems high time to jump start this blog again. To begin with, check out what's new in this release: Authenticating Against an External Directory Booking Window for Calendars Changes to the davadmin Command Enable and Disable Account Autocreation LDAP Pools New Configuration Parameters New Languages New populate-davuniqueid Utility New Schema Objects Non-active Calendar Accounts Are No Longer Searched or Fetched Remote Document Store Authentication The upgrade is a bit more complicated than normal, as you must first apply some new schema elements to your Directory Server(s). To do so, you need to get the comm_dssetup 6.4 patch, patch the comm_dssetup script, and then run the patched comm_dssetup against your Directory Server(s) instances. In addition, if you are using the nsUniqueId attribute as your deployment's unique identifier, you'll want to change that to the new davUniqueId attribute. Consult the Upgrade Procedure for details, as well as DaBrain's blog, before forging ahead with this upgrade.
