    I just edited the htaccess file to include: AuthType Basic AuthName "My Protected Area" AuthUserFile /home/path/to/public_html/ Require valid-user I then created a htpasswd file via the htpasswd command. I have enabled the module: LoadModule authn_file_module modules/mod_authn_file.so in the Apache configuration. Now, when I load the page I now get a 500 error and apache log says "configuration error: couldn't check user. No user file?: /"

  • Mod_Rewrite w Apache mod_jrun22.so & ColdFusion 9 on cPanel

    How can I utilize mod_rewrite at either the httpd.conf level or per-directory level when mod_jrun22 seems to have short-stopped the rewrite process for ColdFusion pages? I have a ColdFusion 9 based site running on Centos 5.8 w cPanel. cPanel uses EasyApache 3 to manage virtual host containers and as such the conf for mod_jrun22.so, /usr/local/apache/conf/includes/pre_main_global.conf, is loaded prior to the main httpd.conf with the domain specific rules for the container. My assertion is that .cfm pages are failing to be rewritten due to the mod_jk22.so module having priority in the directive chain. To note, I also have a WordPress blog in the site where the rewrites appear to be working fine. For example the following code to remove the index file works fine for php and fails with cfm ... .htaccess under /blog/ : This works Options -Indexes -Multiviews <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase /blog/ RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L] </IfModule> .htaccess under / : This does not work as expected. Apache serves the page.     See this NYTimes url: http://opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/02/war-in-the-cabinet/?hp If we type opinionator.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/01/02/war-i in browser, it automatically redirects us to the above article, the only article in that folder starting with "war-i". How to do this in a site with apache, which serves static html files only? That is, if there is a apache module, without adding scripts, that would be best.

    Is it possible to enforce a maximum rsize/wsize in nfsd? I'm having issues related to IP fragmentation (yes, I'm stuck with NFS-over-UDP, contrary to the warnings in the manpage), and have no practical access to the client mount command (buried in one of many TFTP boot images). http://nfs.sourceforge.net/nfs-howto/ar01s05.html lists a kernel source parameter limiting the maximum block size, but I'm not gong to get away with recompiling the nfsd kernel module so that's not really an option either :-(

    I have an issue with IIS7 url rewrite module, when I add following rule I get an 404 error on all pages. <rule name="Remove .aspx" stopProcessing="true"> <match url="(.+)\.aspx" /> <action type="Redirect" redirectType="Permanent" url="{R:1}" /> All I want to do to remove all files extensions.     I have read that I can do this to make a smaller footprint Nginx when used as static content cache/reverse proxy: --without-mail_pop3_module --without-mail_imap_module --without-mail_smtp_module What other options are safe to disable? SSI, FastCGI? Others? The only requirements for the reverse proxy is to be able to do https and gzip compression. Will disabling all the module really help with footprint and/or performance?

  • Apache: Limit the Number of Requests/Traffic per IP?

    I would like to only allow one IP to use up to, say 1GB, of traffic per day, and if that limit is exceeded, all requests from that IP are then dropped until the next day. However, a more simple solution where the connection is dropped after a certain amount of requests would suffice. Is there already some sort of module that can do this? Or perhaps I can achieve this through something like iptables? Thanks

    Im installing Debian testing version wheezy on my Asus X53Sc with Intel Centrino Wireless-N 100. Im having a problem with my wifi connection. When I try to connect to internet with the wireless connection, an error occurs: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/rtl_nic/rtl8105e-1.fw for module r8169. I installed successfully the iwlwifi-100-5.ucode, but now I have this error. Any ideas or suggestions to resolve the problem ?

    I've noticed several articles that have claimed that QEMU is slower than VirtualBox (without hardware assistance) but several are years old, and the newest seemed to be from last year. Is it true that QEMU is slower than VirtualBox? If so why? Are there any tricks to close the performance gap? Some of my host systems do not have virtualization support so I'm especially interested in performance tips that work without the kernel module.

I realize that the incoming and outgoing connections of the proxy may have different certificates, but is it possible to call proxy_pass and tell it to use a certificate/private key for connection to the proxied system?     Hi all, Under Hudson, does somebody know how to specify a release tag name in a cvs checkout ? At the moment, i only specify the CVSROOT and modules names to checkout my project in my workspace.     In development, I'd like to have changes to my application propagate immediately. "MaxRequestsPerChild 1" restarts each process after a request, but if there are multiple server processes, changes still don't propagate until each process restarts. I've tried several different directives to limit the number of server processes to 1: StartServers 1 MinSpareThreads 1 MaxSpareThreads 1 ThreadLimit 1 ThreadsPerChild 1 MaxClients 1 MaxRequestsPerChild 1 Apache still starts with multiple (3) apache2 processes. I'm using the mpm_worker module

    My PC keeps reporting the following error in the event viewer around every 10-15 minutes: Faulting application , version 0.0.0.0, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x00000000. Whenever it happens, the XP theme change to classic theme then change back to the normal theme. The network goes down and I must restart PC for the network to come back online. What could be causing this and how do i fix it?
