  • xna networking, dedicated server possible?

    Hi I want to release my xna game to the XBOX platform, but I'm worried about the networking limitations. Basically, I want to have a dedicated (authoritative) server, but it sounds like that is not possible. Which is why I'm wondering about: a.) Using port 80 web calls to php-driven database b.) Using an xbox as a master-server (is that possible?) I like the sound of [b] , because I could write my own application to run on the xbox, and I would assume other users could connect to it similar to the p2p architecture. Anyone able to expand on theory [b] above? or [a] as worst-case scenario?

  • SQL SELECT: "Give me all documents where all of the documents procedures are 'work in progress'"

    This one really has me stumped. I have a documents table which hold info about the documents, and a procedures table, which is kind of like a revisions table for each document. What I need to do is write a select statement which gives me all of the documents where all of the procedures have the status "work_in_progress". Here's an example procedures table: document_id | status 1 | 'wip' 1 | 'wip' 1 | 'wip' 1 | 'approved' 2 | 'wip' 2 | 'wip' 2 | 'wip' Here, I would want my query to only return document id 2, because all of its statuses are work_in_progress. I DO NOT want document_id 1 since one of its statuses is 'approved'. I believe this is relational division I want, but I'm not sure where to start. This is MySQL 5.0 FYI.

  • Chnaging Displayed Image on a Webpage Using Javascript

    Hi all, I'm having some trouble changing an image being displayed on a page by way of a dropdown menu selection. This works fine.. getting the dropdown menu to give me an alert when I make a selection. Even though the menu is embedded within a division, paragraph, and label tag, it still works. "availableImages" is the name of my menu. function imageSelect() { var index = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.selectedIndex; var value = document.getElementById("myForm").availableImages.options[index].value; alert("test " + value); // alert box pops up upon list item selection } However, within the same division, I am having an issue with changing the source of my image tag...     I'm writing a Firefox extension that needs to inject a css file into webpages. The css file is bundled with the extension, so I can access it using a chrome url chrome://extensionid/content/skin/style.css I'm trying to inject css like this when the page is loaded: var fileref = document.createElement("link"); fileref.setAttribute("rel", "stylesheet"); fileref.setAttribute("type", "text/css"); fileref.setAttribute("href", "chrome://extensionid/content/skin/style.css"); document.getElementsByTagName("head")[0].appendChild(fileref); However, the css isn't loaded and Firebug shows 'Filtered chrome url' message instead of the file content, when I inspect the link element I created. If I try to load this css file from an external server, everything's fine. Is there are way to load a css file bundled with the extension?

  • Rebinding jQuery qtip tooltip on images in bxcarousel

    I'm using bxcarousel to show a bunch of images. Each image has a tooltip, which I display using qtip.   • Using heavyweight ORM implementation for light based games

    I'm just about to engulf myself in an MVC-based/Component architecture in C#, using MySQL's connector/Net for the data storage, and probably some NHibernate/FluentNHibernate Object-relational-mapping to map out the data structure. The goal is to build a scalable 2D RPG. Then I think about it...and I can't help but think this seems a little "heavy weight" for a 2D RPG, especially one which, while I plan to incorporate a lot of functionality and entertaining gameplay, may be ported to something like Windows Phone or Android in the future. Yet, on the other hand even a 2-Dimensional RPG can become very complicated, and therefore must incorporate a lot of functionality. While this can be accomplished with text/XML/JSON for data storage, is there a better way? Is something such as Object-Relational-Mapping useful in such an application? So, what do you think? Would you say that there is a place for such technologies? I don't know what to think...

    I know there is a way to retrieve the coordinates by clicking on the map, using specifically document.getElementById("lonTb").value=point.x; document.getElementById("latTb").value=point.y; Firstly, i have a html file namely MapToolKit.html, a mapGPS.js and a mapSearch.js. how do i input the coordinates returns into the js?   • How to trigger saved password autofill in browsers?

    I have a web application written in pure JavaScript (no pre-generated HTML except for the document which loads all the JS files). This app contains a login form which is created dynamically when the document.ready event event is triggered. I trick the browser into displaying the "Remember password?" dialog by posting the login form into a hidden iframe before logging in using ajax (in Firefox the password appears on the saved password list, so this part obviously works) but saved passwords never get filled in after the login screen is loaded again at a later time. The same thing happens in Firefox and Safari. Is there something I can do or some function I can call to trigger autofill? UPDATE: autofill works in Safari on initial page load, but not when user logs out and the login form is recreated without a page reload. In Firefox it never works.

I noticed if I refresh the page, the cookies with these keys added to the browser. but why they can't be added after I logged in facebook at once?     According to the wikipedia page for the MVC architecture, the view is free to be notified by the model, and is also free to query the model about its current state. However, according to Paul Hegarty's course on iOS 5 at Stanford, lecture 1, page 18 all interaction must go through the controller, with Model and View that are never supposed to know each other. It is not clear to me if Hegarty's statement must be intended as a simplification for the course, but I am tempted to say that he intends the design as such. How do you explain these two opposite points of view ?

  • Cleanup for control inside a FlowDocument

    I have a custom control that I use inside a FlowDocument. The control uses a System.Drawing.ImageAnimator to display transparent, animated GIF images. Why is this such a pain in the butt in WPF anyway? :P In my original implementation, this was causing memory leaks when a paragraph containing the control was being deleted from the document, because the ImageAnimator kept a reference to the control for event handling. I've now implemented a WeakEventManager pattern which seems to indeed fix the leak itself, but I would like to stop "OnFrameChanged" events from being fired if a particular animated GIF is not currently in the document, instead of relying on the garbage collector to eventually collect the control objects and my event manager to notice that there no longer are valid listeners to the event. Basically, I would like to take a more active role in this and have the control react to being removed from the FlowDocument. Is there some way to do this? I've been unable to find it. OnVisualParentChanged doesn't get fired, because the direct parent (a Paragraph) is unchanged.

First of all this is my "architecture": Domain registration at GoDaddy.com Hosting at Dreamhost mail at google apps Until now I setted up the google apps MX entries in my domain through the GoDaddy manager, but now what I want is to set up the hosting I have hired from Dreamhost. I understand that all I have to do is to setup next Dreamhost NS entries into the GoDaddy domain manager: NS1.Dreamhost.COM. 66.33.206.206 NS2.Dreamhost.COM. 208.96.10.221 NS3.Dreamhost.COM. 66.33.216.216 My question is, will my mail keep working right as soon as the MX entries I already setup into the GoDaddy are the Google Apps ones?

  • Does TDD lead to the good design?

    I'm in transition from "writing unit tests" state to TDD. I saw as Johannes Brodwall creates quite acceptable design from avoiding any of architecture phase before. I'll ask him soon if it was real improvisation or he had some thoughts upfront. I also clearly understand that everyone has experience that prevents to write explicit design bad patterns. But after participating in code retreat I hardly believe that writing test first could save us from mistakes. But I also believe that tests after code will lead to mistakes much faster. So this night question is asking for people who is using TDD for a long time share their experience about results of design without upfront thinking. If they really practice it and get mostly suitable design. Or it's my small understanding about TDD and probably agile.
