  • How to prevent SQL Compact DB to be erased?

    Hi, I'm developing an applciation using SQL Compact database in Visual Studio 2008. When I start the application and run the process, the data is being loaded into database for few hours worth of few tens of megabytes. However, when I quite debugging, change something in code (not in DB structure), run the project again, the database is erased. Does anyone know how to prevent this behavior? I need the data to stay in DB to test on it.

  • Generate Delete Statement From Foreign Key Relationships in SQL 2008 ?

    Is it possible via script/tool to generate a delete statement based on the tables fk relations. i.e. I have the table: DelMe(ID) and there are 30 tables with fk references to its ID that I need to delete first, is there some tool/script that I can run that will generate the 30 delete statements based on the FK relations for me ? (btw I know about cascade delete on the relations, I can't use it in this existing db) I'm using Microsoft SQL Server 2008

  • One email user keeps disconnecting from our exchange server

    I have one user who keeps reporting that Outlook keeps disconnecting from our email server. All other users are fine. Our email server is running Exchange 2010 and the client is running Outlook 2003. The disconnection only lasts a moment. I have checked for logs on the client and Exchange server and can not see any reason for the disconnect, On the Client I get EventId 26 telling me Outlook has disconnected and reconnected but no reason why. Can anyone give me some suggestions of things to try and track down where the problem could be? --Update-- I have found the following log file C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Logging\RPC Client Access which suggests that it is a problem with RPC sessions.   • ASP.NET MVC Creating a impersonated user.

    Hi, I have a MVC app where I have a User class and the user can also impersonate another user(Admin users only). So I have this code below that authenticates the request and instantiates my version of a User class. It then tries to get the impersonated user from the Session object but Session is not available in this method in the global.asax. Hope this makes sense.     Our application allows administrators to add “User Properties” in order for them to be able to tailor the system to match their own HR systems. For example, if your company has departments, you can define “Departments” in the Properties table and then add values that correspond to “Departments” such as “Jewelry”, “Electronics” etc… You are then able to assign a department to users. Here is the schema: In this schema, a User can have only one UserPropertyValue per Property, but doesn’t have to have a value for the property. I am trying to build a query that will be used in SSRS 2005 and also have it use the PropertyValues as the filter for users. My query looks like this: SELECT UserLogin, FirstName, LastName FROM Users U LEFT OUTER JOIN UserPropertyValues UPV ON U.ID = UPV.UserID WHERE UPV.PropertyValueID IN (1, 5) When I run this, if the user has ANY of the property values, they are returned. What I would like to have is where this query will return users that have values BY PROPERTY. So if PropertyValueID = 1 is of Department (Jewelry), and PropertyValueID = 5 is of EmploymentType (Full Time), I want to return all users that are in Department Jewelry that are EmployeeType of Full Time, can this be done? Here's a full data example: User A has Department(Jewelry value = 1) and EmploymentType(FullTime value = 5)User B has Department(Electronics value = 2) and EmploymentType(FullTime value = 5)User C has Department(Jewelry value = 1) and EmployementType(PartTime value = 6) My query should only return User A using the above query UPDATE: I should state that this query is used as a dataset in SSRS, so the parameter passed to the query will be @PropertyIDs and it is defined as a multi-value parameter in SSRS.   • How can I separate the user interface from the business logic while still maintaining efficiency?

    Let's say that I want to show a form that represents 10 different objects on a combobox. For example, I want the user to pick one hamburguer from 10 different ones that contain tomatoes. Since I want to separate UI and logic, I'd have to pass the form a string representation of the hamburguers in order to display them on the combobox. Otherwise, the UI would have to dig into the objects fields. Then the user would pick a hamburguer from the combobox, and submit it back to the controller. Now the controller would have to find again said hamburguer based on the string representation used by the form (maybe an ID?). Isn't that incredibly inefficient? You already had the objects you wanted to pick one from. If you submited to the form the whole objects, and then returned a specific object, you wouldn't have to refind it later on since the form already returned a reference to that object. Moreover, if I'm wrong and you actually should send the whole object to the form, how can I isolate UI from logic?

    I am just curious, why would a windows 7 desktop, installed with ie8, have Tablet PC 2.0 in its user agent string. Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; Tablet PC 2.0) Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 6.1; Trident/4.0; SLCC2; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.5.30729; .NET CLR 3.0.30729; Media Center PC 6.0; .NET4.0C; Tablet PC 2.0) Is this a feature in Windows 7, how can I turn this off in IE8? Other browsers on the same computer don't have such string in the user-agent string they send. As a result, one of our web application confuses this particular desktop client as a mobile (because of the tablet), hence returns the mobile version of our website to it. Thank you!

  • Providing SSH tunnling, what to think about when configuring Ubuntu Server

    Recently I've considered, mostly as a pet project, to set up accounts for a closed group of users via SSH to my box with the purpose of SSH tunnling things like web traffic -- some of it for friends that live abroad and perhaps also to help some people bypass national censorship. There's some things I imagine that I need to do, such as: Disabling shell access by setting the shell to /bin/false or similar. Get some software that can track bandwidth usage on a per-user basis historically Make sure that each user can only use a certain amount of bandwidth. The reason I'm posting here to begin with is to look around and get some pointers regarding what kind of things I should read up on, as well as hearing if there are any software recommendations for doing what I'm trying to do. I already know a bit since I've actually gotten SSH tunnling up and running already, I just don't feel like letting it loose to other people without restrictions and some basic monitoring. I'm primarily trying to learn here, so if you think this is a Very Bad Idea (or if you have a better idea on how to do this) then by all means say so, but please include some information on how to do it :) (I'm also open to trying things like OpenVPN but it seems really hard to set up, also I've heard SSH more often works in locked down environments)

    I need to block requests from certain User Agents to our Sharepoint Environment that have been identified after going through the IIS logs. I have tried the below by amending the urlscan.ini config file and doing and iisreset, but it doesn't block anything. Am I entering the correct strings?     Hi all, I'm trying to understand the rules for choosing an IPv6 multicast address Group ID, and the RFC seems somewhat inconsistent. For example, in RFC 2373 section 2.7 this diagram is shown: | 8 | 4 | 4 | 112 bits | +------ -+----+----+---------------------------------------------+ |11111111|flgs|scop| group ID | +--------+----+----+---------------------------------------------+ ... but then in section 2.7.2 it shows this: | 8 | 4 | 4 | 80 bits | 32 bits | +------ -+----+----+---------------------------+-----------------+ |11111111|flgs|scop| reserved must be zero | group ID | +--------+----+----+---------------------------+-----------------+ So my question is, are the upper 80 bits of the Group ID field usable or not? If they are usable, is it only under certain circumstances (e.g. when using non-Ethernet networking technology?) What problems should I expect to experience if I set these bits when multicasting over an Ethernet LAN?

  • SQL 2000 Not Supported by .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server in VS2010's Server Explorer D

    Just tried creating a data connection to a SQL 2000 database in VS2010's Server Explorer using a .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server (versus OLE) and found that it didn't work. VS2010 complained that I had to use SQL Server 2005 and up. This used to work in VS2008 (using .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server instead of the .NET Framework Data Provider for OLE DB). Is this just a VS2010 restriction or has the ability to connect to SQL 2000 with .NET Framework Data Provider for SQL Server been obsoleted in a post-2.0 version of .NET being used by VS2010? Anyone know why this was done by MS (please don't speculate - I can do that myself ;)?

  • ModalPopup CodeBehind Function Wait For User Response

    I have set up a function which returns an enum of the button that the user clicked in the ModalPopup. I have a variable of type enum to store which button the user clicks in the button click event. In this function, I call the ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. My problem is, the function finishes out and returns the default enum (which is "none" since no button was clicked yet) before the ModalPopup can be shown and store which button the user clicks. So without changing the function to a method and using a different way to store the user's button click, how can I pause the function after the Show() method of the MPE has been called and wait for the user to click a button? Edit(11/20/2009): Clarification: On the aspx page, I include a ScriptManager, PlaceHolder, and an asp:Button with a codebehind click event. What I want is to click the button, then in the click event handler, I want to call a custom static class function that returns a variable. One of the arguments it takes is the PlaceHolder. The function creates all the necessary controls in the PlaceHolder needed to display a ModalPopup. It calls the created ModalPopupExtender's Show() method. What should happen: At this point is the ModalPopup gets displayed, the user clicks a button, that button's event handler fires, the button sets a variable indicating that it was clicked, it then calls the ModalPopupExtender's .Hide() method, and then the function returns the variable that indicates which button was clicked. We then return to the event handler from the original button that was clicked and the programmer can then perform some logic based on what variable was returned. Crux: When the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method gets called, it does not display the ModalPopup until AFTER the function returns a default variable (because no button was clicked yet) and after the event handler from the original button that was clicked ends. What I need: After the ModalPopupExtender's .Show() method is called, I need the ModalPopup to get displayed immediately and I need the function to wait for a button click to be made from the ModalPopup. My thoughts: Some PostBack needs to be made to the page telling it to update and display the ModalPopup Panel. Then maybe a while loop can be run in the function that waits for a button to be clicked in the ModalPopup.

    I have one central SQL Server database which can be offline from time to time. I have a desktop application using Local DB Cache (SQL CE) to synchronize with the central database and I also have a web application with its own SQL Server that I'd also would like to keep synchronized. All synchronizations must be bidirectional. Is there a way to synchronize my central database with web application's database in the same way as I synchronize my central database with desktop client? I know about collaboration scenarios and peer-to-peer synchronization but I would like to avoid manual provisioning of databases. I'd like to use integrated sql server 2008 change tracking just like in the SQL CE <-- SQL Server scenario.

    I have multiple users with multiple entries recording times they arrive at destinations Somehow, with my select query I would like to only show the most recent entries for each unique user name. Here is the code that doesn't work: SELECT * FROM $dbTable GROUP BY xNAME ORDER BY xDATETIME DESC This does the name grouping fine, but as far as showing ONLY their most recent entry, is just shows the first entry it sees in the SQL table. I guess my question is, is this possible? Here is my data sample: john 7:00 chris 7:30 greg 8:00 john 8:15 greg 8:30 chris 9:00 and my desired result should only be john 8:15 chris 9:00 greg 8:30

I try to set up the user-agent like this: java.net.URLConnection c = url.openConnection(); c.setRequestProperty("User-Agent", "Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.4; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100316 Firefox/3.6.2"); But the resulting user agent is the one I specify, with "Java/1.5.0_19" appended to the end. Is there a way to truly set the user agent without this addition?

  • How to configure multiple iSCSI Portal Groups on a EqualLogic PS6100?

    I am working on a migration from a VMware vSphere environment to a Hyper-V Cluster utilizing Windows Server 2012 R2. The setup is pretty small, an EqualLogic PS6100e and two Dell PowerConnect 5424 switches and handful of R710s and R620s. The SAN was configured as a non-RFC1918 network that is not assigned to our organization and since I am working on building a new virtualization environment I figured that this would be an appropriate time to do a subnet migration. I configured a separate VLAN and subnet on the switches and the two previously unused NICs on the PS6100's controllers. At this time I only have a single Hyper-V host cabled in but I can successfully ping the PS6100 from the host. From the PS6100 I can ping each of the four NICs that currently on the storage network. I cannot connect the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator to the Target. I have successfully added the Target Portals (the IP addresses of PS6100 NICs) and the Targets are discovered but listed as inactive. If I try to Connect to them I get the following error, "Log onto Target - Connection Failed" and ISCSIPrt 1 and 70 events are recorded in the Event Log. I have verified that access control to the volume is not the problem by temporarily disabling it. I suspect the problem is with the Portal Group IP address which is still listed as Group Address of old subnet (I know, I know I might be committing the sin of the X/Y problem but everything else looks good): RFC3720 has this to say about Network Portal and Portal Groups: Network Portal: The Network Portal is a component of a Network Entity that has a TCP/IP network address and that may be used by an iSCSI Node within that Network Entity for the connection(s) within one of its iSCSI sessions. A Network Portal in an initiator is identified by its IP address. A Network Portal in a target is identified by its IP address and its listening TCP port. Portal Groups: iSCSI supports multiple connections within the same session; some implementations will have the ability to combine connections in a session across multiple Network Portals. A Portal Group defines a set of Network Portals within an iSCSI Network Entity that collectively supports the capability of coordinating a session with connections spanning these portals. Not all Network Portals within a Portal Group need participate in every session connected through that Portal Group. One or more Portal Groups may provide access to an iSCSI Node. Each Network Portal, as utilized by a given iSCSI Node, belongs to exactly one portal group within that node. The EqualLogic Group Manager documentation has this to say about the Group IP Address: You use the group IP address as the iSCSI discovery address when connecting initiators to iSCSI targets in the group. If you modify the group IP address, you might need to change your initiator configuration to use the new discovery address Changing the group IP address disconnects any iSCSI connections to the group and any administrators logged in to the group through the group IP address. Which sounds equivalent to me (I am following up with support to confirm). I think a reasonable explanation at this point is that the Initiator can't complete the connection to the Target because the Group IP Address / Network Portal is on a different subnet. I really want to avoid a cutover and would prefer to run both subnets side-by-side until I can install and configure each Hyper-V host. Question/s: Is my assessment at all reasonable? Is it possible to configure multiple Group IP Addresses on the EqualLogic PS6100? I don't want to just change it as it will disconnect the remaining ESXi hosts. Am I just Doing It Wrong(TM)?
