  • How do I show some simple HTML (text/images) in the sidebar of my Drupal 7 theme?

    I've created a theme using Zen and all is well. I want to display some simple text and images in the sidebar, but I don't understand Drupal well enough to know what I'm doing. I have worked with Joomla which allows one to create a new HTML module, populate it, and then select where it appears on the page (and also of course which pages). I don't see this with Drupal. I've seen some talk about using the theme's templates, but I need for my client to be able to change the text (and/or images) without knowing anything about that. It would be best to create an article and be able to make that article appear in the side bar somehow. Is this possible?

    Copy list of file names to text file? I am linking the above page because of its relevance to my question. Is there anything similar that can be done to output a 'plain' looking text file (or xml or csv file) with basically the same data that the following cmd prompt produces: dir > c:\list.txt However only difference I need is the runtime of any and all video files included in the outputted file. Can this easily be done? Please let me know whether this can be done in the python terminal as well since I am familiar with that was well as Microsoft's dos prompt. Thank you so very much.

  • non-interactive ssh sudo... prompts for the password in plain text

    I'm running some non-interactive ssh commands. The ssh authentication is taken care of fine through the ssh agent, but if I run a command that requires sudo then the password prompt in my terminal is plain text. For example: ssh remotemachine "sudo -u www mkdir -p /path/to/new/folder" will prompt me for the password in plain text. Does anyone know how I can get it to use the normal secure prompt or that I can pass the password via a switch? (as then I can set up a secure prompt on this side before I send the command) Any help is much appreciated.

  • How to move your focus out of the text?

    I've got a PDF open in Acrobat. I like to scroll the "standard" way, where I can press the arrow key up to go up by a line or two, and the arrow key down for the opposite. But sometimes I accidentally click the text, and then suddenly the arrow keys control moving the cursor around inside the page instead, so I have to hold it down and move the cursor all the way to the bottom of the page before it'll start scrolling the page down, and then all the way back up if I want to go up again. I can't find any way to move focus out of the text once I've clicked it. I actually have to close Acrobat and reopen the PDF. It's kind of amazing. Solutions?

  • Deploying war files in tomcat6

    I am using tomcat5.5 for a long on ubuntu servers 8.10 and 9.10 and '/usr/share/tomcat/webapps/' is the path where I place my .war files and access them on the browser over network. On a sytem I've installed tomcat6 and I'm failing to find that where do I place my .war file of tomcat6's webapps. I checked deploying war under /var/lib/tomcat6/webapps/ and the war file is extracted and I think this should be the location but I could not access the page when I tried http://serverip:8080/myapp. I could access the default page properly when I navigate to http://serverip:8080. The same war file is working fine on tomcat servers which were not installed from apt repository.   • How to dual-boot Windows XP & Ubuntu 12.04

    When I install Ubuntu 12.04 along side Windows XP, I encountered a choice for "Device for boot loader installation". I selected "Windows XP Professional" Now, when I select Windows XP from the grub, it appeares a black page and Windwos dosent boot. I tried Boot-Repair from Ubuntu but it dosent solve this problem. The only thing that helps me to boot Windwos XP is a Bootable CD of Windows. when I put this CD and boot from CD, it shows some options and when I select "Boot from Hard Drive" , my own Windows boots!   • ASP.NET MVC 3 (C#) Software Architecture

    I am starting on a relatively large and ambitious ASP.NET MVC 3 project and just thinking about the best way to organize my code. The project is basically going to be a general management system that will be capable of supporting any type management system whether it be a blogging system, cms, reservation system, wikis, forums, project management system, etc…, each of them being just a separate 'module'. You can read more about it on my blog posted here : http://www.ryanzec.com/index.php/blog/details/8 (forgive me, the style of the site kinda sucks). For those who don't want to read the long blog post the basic idea is that the core system itself is nothing more than a users system with an admin interface to manage the users system. Then you just add on module as you need them and the module I will be creating is a simple blog post to test it out before I move on to the big module which is a project management system. Now I am just trying to think of the best way to structure this so that it is easy for users to add in there own modules but easy for me to update to core system without worrying about the user modifying the core code. I think the ideal way would be to have a number of core projects that user is specifically told not to modify otherwise the system may become unstable and future updates would not work. When the user wants to add in there own modules, they would just add in a new project (or multiple projects). The thing is I am not sure that it is even possible to use multiple projects all with their own controllers, razor view template, css, javascript, etc... in one web application. Ideally each module would have some of it own razor view templates, css, javascript, image files and also need access to some of the core razor view templates, css, javascript, image files which would is in a separate project. It is possible to have 1 web application run off of controllers, razor view templates, css, javascript, image files that are store in multiple projects? Is there a better was to structure this to allow the user to easily add in module with having to modify the core code?

  • Replace JBoss error page with Axis2 fault XML response

    I'm developing a webservice with Axis2 1.4.1 on JBoss 4.2.3/Tomcat 5.5.27 and Java 1.5.0 (15-b04). It works flawlessly but when an exception happens I get a JBoss error 500 HTML page instead of an Axis2 XML/SOAP fault. This behavoir is vexing, because it difficults to handle errors in the webservice client or in SoapUI while developing. Can I change this to get the SOAP fault? Maybe it's just an Axis2 or JBoss parameter, but I didn't find any clue about.   • Flex SDK missing fundamental things

    All of a sudden Flash Builder 4 is missing all kinds of fundamental things and is generating incorrect errors. I've had the same issue yesterday, where I fixed it by downloading a new Flex SDK and importing that into FB. I did this again, but this time it fixed nothing. I don't think it's something I did, like removing critical references from the build path. The errors also appeared on projects I was not working on at the time. It occurs for ActionScript, Flex and Flex Library projects alike. Update 3: Well, i've singled the problem down to a single piece of code, though a very simple one. I can make a new workspace in FB and things work ok, then screw the workspace up forever by adding this code to a project. All projects will have errors and closing or even removing the faulty project does not change this. Making another new workspace (without the faulty code) makes my projects compile again.   • Facebook, Yimg and google-analytics CDNs is freaking me out

    Hi, Its been a couple of weeks that some sites just keeps on hanging. e.g. Facebooks = static.ak.fbcdn.net FLicker = l.yimg.com GoogleAnalytics I've googled and found many problems like this and some answers which are outdated or just doesn't solve the problem. I did: Cookies clearing, ran cc cleaner and several other nifty methods. None solved my problem?? Only with facebook, if I enter https:// manually instead of http:// on every url on facebook, it works and when it does the redirection to http://, everytime I have to type 's' on the address bar to make it https:// It is driving me nuts coz I'm developing Facebook App and this problem in being pain in my ass. What might be the reason for these CDNs hanging behaviour??     I have trouble to add new item to my table view with core data. Here is the brief logic in my codes. I think that both the number of objects in my data source or context and the number of rows in my table view should be 1. However, I got an exception in the event of tabView:numberOfRowsInSection: Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section 0. The number of rows contained in an existing section after the update (0) must be equal to the number of rows contained in that section before the update (0), plus or minus the number of rows inserted or deleted from that section (1 inserted, 0 deleted). The exception was raised right after the delegate event: - (NSInteger) tableView:(UITableView *) tableView numberOfRawsInSection:(NSInteger) section { // fetchedResultsController is class member var NSFetchedResultsController id <NSFechedResultsSectionInfo> sectionInfo = [[fetchedResultsController sections] objectAtIndex: section]; NSInteger rows = [sectionInfo numberOfObjects]; return rows; } In debug mode, I found that the rows was still 0 and the event invoked after the the even of toggleEditing. It looks like that sectionInfo obtained from fetchedResultsController did not include the new entity object inserted. Not sure if I miss anything or steps? I am not sure how it works: to get the fetcedResultsController notified or reflect the change when a new entity is inserted into the current managed object context?

  • Why doesn't jquery .load() load a text file from an external website?

    In the example below, when I click the button, it says "Load was performed" but no text is shown. I have a clientaccesspolicy.xml in the root directory and am able to asynchronously load the same file from silverlight. So I would think I should be able to access from AJAX as well.
