  • is this correct use of jquery's document.ready?

    - by Haroldo
    The below file contains all the javascript for a page. Performance is the highest priority. Is this the most efficient way? Do all click/hover events need to to be inside the doc.ready? //DOCUMENT.READY EVENTS //--------------------------------------------------------------------------- $(function(){ // mark events as not loaded $('.event').data({ t1_loaded: false, t2_loaded: false, t3_loaded: false, art_req: false }); //mark no events have been clicked $('#wrap_right').data('first_click_made', false); // cal-block event click $('#cal_blocks div.event, #main_search div.event').live('click', function(){ var id = $(this).attr('id').split('e')[1]; event_click(id); }); // jq history $.historyInit(function(hash){ if(hash) { event_click(hash); } }); // search $('#search_input').typeWatch ({ callback: function(){ var q = $('#search_input').attr('value'); search(q); }, wait : 350, highlight : false, captureLength : 2 }); $('#search_input, #main_search div.close').live('click',function(){ $(this).attr("value",""); reset_srch_res(); }); $('#main_search').easydrag(); $('a.dialog').colorbox(); //TAB CLICK -> AJAX LOAD TAB $('#wrap_right .rs_tabs li').live('click', function(){ $this = $(this); var id = $('#wrap_right').data('curr_event'); var tab = parseInt($this.attr('rel')); //hide other tabs $('#rs_'+id+' .tab_body').hide(); //mark current(clicked) tab $('#rs_'+id+' .rs_tabs li').removeClass('curr_tab'); $this.addClass('curr_tab'); //is the tab already loaded and hidden?   • jQuery ajax link, returned data includes a from that wont submit

    - by calumogg
    Hi everyone, I have a problem with the returned data from a ajax request. Basically when I click on a link it runs a ajax request to load some html into a div, that part is working fine the problem comes when the data has been loaded. Part of the html loaded is a form, this form works fine if I load the page directly but when it is loaded through ajax into the div it wont submit but the rest of the links in the html work fine. Here is the code that requests the remote html data: // Ajax to load image editing page $('a.editpicture').click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); var picture = $(this).attr("id") $.ajax({ url: 'http://localhost/digital-xposure/index.php/members/viewpicture/' + picture, success: function(data) { $('#update-picture').html(data); } }); }); This is the form it loads: <form method="post" id="updatepicture" name="updatepicture" action="http://localhost/digital-xposure/index.php/members/editpicture"/> <p>Title<input type="text" name="title" id="title" style="input" value="<?php echo $title; ?>"></P> <p>Album<?php echo $albums;?></p> <p>Description<textarea name="description" id="description" cols="50" rows="5"><?php echo $description; ?></textarea></P> <input type="hidden" name="filename" id="filename" value="<?php echo $filename; ?>" /> <input type="button" name="update-submit" id="update-submit" value="Update details" class="button"> Or <input type="button" onClick="location.href='<?php echo base_url(); ?>index.php/members/deletepicture/<?php echo $filename; ?>'" value="Delete picture" class="button"> </form> Any ideas why the form wont submit after being loaded into the div? Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks. Calum

  • Extracting CDATA Using jQuery

    - by George L Smyth
    It looks like this has been asked before, but the answers do not appear to work for me. I am outputting information from a local XML file, but the description elements is not being output because it is enclosed in CDATA - if I remove the CDATA portion then things work fine. Here is my code: $(document).ready( function() { $.get('test.xml', function($info) { objInfo = $($info); objInfo.find('item').slice(0,5).each( function() { var Guid = $(this).find('guid').text(); var Title = $(this).find('title').text(); var Description = $(this).find('description').text(); $('#Content').append( "<p><a href='" + Guid + "'>" + Title + "</a>&nbsp;" + Description + "</p>" ) } ); }, 'xml' ); } ) Any idea how I can successfully extract Description information that is wrapped in CDATA? Thanks - george

  • Dotted Border turns to solid if object is animated with jQuery.

    - by Serg Chernata
    I have a simple setup: an image and then a paragraph with a bit of info that is hidden and then slides up over the image on mouse hover. If I try to apply a border-top that is dashed or dotted onto the paragraph it simply turns into a solid line. Is this a known issue with a fix? I even tried adding the dotted border through jQuery and it still comes out as a solid line. <div class="wrap"> <img src="images/fillertxt.jpg" alt="image" /> <img src="images/filler.jpg" class="front" alt="image" /> <p class="info"> This is a short description with a bit of text. </p> </div> .wrap .info { width:204px; height:50px; background:url(images/infobg.jpg) repeat-x #8d9c0c; color:#f7f5ef; padding:3px; position:absolute; top:142px; left:0; border-top:3px dotted #8d9c0c; } $(document).ready(function(){ $("p.info").css("border-top","3px dotted #8d9c0c"); $(function(){ bindTypeOne(); $("input[type=radio]").click(function(){ if ($(this).attr("rel") == "type1"){ bindTypeOne(); } else if ($(this).attr("rel") == "type2"){ bindTypeTwo(); } }); }); function bindTypeOne() { $("div.wrap").hover(function(){ $(this).children("p.info").stop(); $(this).children(".front").stop().animate({"top":"141px"}, 400); },function(){ $(this).children("p.info").stop(); $(this).children(".front").stop().animate({"top":"0"}, 700); }); }; function bindTypeTwo() { $("div.wrap").hover(function(){ $(this).children(".front").stop(); $(this).children("p.info").stop().animate({"top":"80px","border-top":"3px dotted #8d9c0c"}, 400); },function(){ $(this).children(".front").stop(); $(this).children("p.info").stop().animate({"top":"142px"}, 700); }); }; });

  • jQuery Filtering Gridview Columns

    - by RSchmitt
    I'm looking to have a click event for all columns but the last column of a GridView and then have a separate click event for the last column of the gridview (a DropDownList). I have the following right now but just can't seem to get it to exclude the last column: var _activeRow; $('.gridview-jquerify tr').filter(function() { return $('td', this).length && !$('table', this).length }) .bind('click', function(e) { if (_activeRow) _activeRow.removeClass('gridviewrow-highlighted'); _activeRow = $(this).addClass('gridviewrow-highlighted'); $(this).each(function() { var myID = $(this).find('.gridview-cell-hide').html(); __doPostBack('MyUpdatePanel', myID); }); }); Then I can't seem to get a variation of the above to work for the last column by doing a filter using :last in the selector such as: $('.gridview-jquerify tr >td:last').filter(function() { return $('td)', this).length && !$('table', this).length })

  • Using jQuery and AJAX works for all functions except one, really bizarre issue (from my perspective)

    - by CoreyT
    I am working on a classic asp form that has a number of dropdowns. Three of these are cascading, i.e. they rely in the previous dropdown. For almost everything this code works fine, one of them however is not playing nice. To start off I have a script tag with the following in it: $(document).ready(function () { $("#AcademicLevel").change(getList); $("#CourseDeliveryTime").change(updateLocation); $("#ProgramType").change(updateEntryTerm); }); This works just fine for the first two elements of the form, AcademicLevel and CourseDeliveryTime, the third however does not take effect however. If I use Firebug's Console and run that same line of code, $("#ProgramType").change(updateEntryTerm);, it starts to work, sort of. What happens is what confuses me. If the function it is pointing to, updateEntryTerm, has an alert() call in it, it works. If the alert is commented out, it does not work. The function is below: function updateEntryTerm() { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "../Classic ASP and AJAX/jQueryExample.asp", dataType: "application/x-www-form-urlencoded", data: "Action=UpdateEntryTerm&acadLevel=" + $("#AcademicLevel").val() + "&courseTime=" + $("#CourseDeliveryTime").val() + "&programType=" + $("#ProgramType").val(), async: false, success: function (msg) { $("#EntryTerm").remove(); $("#tdEntryTerm").append(msg); //alert(msg); } //, //error: function (xhr, option, err) { // alert("XHR Status: " + xhr.statusText + ", Error - " + err); //} }); } I am lost on two different issues here, First why is the call to $("#ProgramType").change(updateEntryTerm); not working unless I run it in Firebug Console? Second, why does the function itself, updateEntryTerm, not work unless the alert() call is present? Has anyone seem something like this before?

  • Jquery Flexigrid reload only if flexigrid initially ran

    - by John
    Im trying to use flexigrid to show results using the values from a form. So when a person clicks a form I want it to load the flexigrid function if its the first time the person clicked the button to initialize the table. Then if someone adjusts the values in the form then clicks the button again it then reloads the flexigrid table with the new form values. How can I do this in one function? Right now I have the flexigrid code running on page load, then if they click the button it runs this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#RunReport').click( function() { var report_name = $('input[name=report-name]').val(); var report_cell = $('input[name=report-cell]').val(); var query_url = encodeURI('name=' + report_name + '&cell=' + report_cell); $('#reporting').flexOptions({ url: '/report.php?' + query_url }).flexReload(); }); }); </script> But instead of having it in both functions I wanted it all in one function only running the reload if flexigrid was already initialized. Hope this makes sense, still new at all of this.

  • HTML is not being interpreted after JQuery's .ajax function

    - by Casidiablo
    Hello there... Once I have retrived an HTML string with the $.ajax function I put it into a div... the HTML is a simple message with a <b> tag, but it's not being interpreted by the browser, I mean, the <b> is not making the text bold. Here is what I do: $.ajax({ url: 'index.php?ajax=ejecutar_configuracion&id_gadget=cubrimientos', cache: false, success: function(html){ // html = '<b>hello</b> newton' $('#config_reporte').html(html).dialog({ height: 300, width: 500, modal: true }); } }); As you can see, I'm writing the content of the HTML result into a modal dialog window. Does anybody know why is this happening? This should be something easy to do... but I haven't been able to make it work properly. Thank you so much.

  • Jquery droppable live disabling/enabling

    - by Cameron
    I have a some draggables in a list of droppables (1 draggable per droppable li). When I move a draggable from one droppable to another free droppable, I want to diable the receiving droppable, and enable the droppable it is leaving from. In firebug the droppable class gets removed – but the functionality of the droppable remains. I have a feeling I need to use live() somehow, but could use a leg-up. $(function() { $(".user").draggable({ revert : true, revertDuration : 200 }); $("li.droppable").droppable({ accept : ".user", hoverClass : "drophover", drop: function(event, ui) { var position = this.getAttribute("id").replace("position_", ""), user_id = ui.draggable.attr("id").replace("user_", ""); droppable = this parent = ui.draggable.parent() $.ajax({ url : "users/"+user_id+"", type : "POST", dataType: "JSON", data : ({ "position" : position, "_method" : "PUT" }), success : function() { $(ui.draggable).parent().addClass("droppable"); $(ui.draggable).appendTo(droppable); $(parent).removeClass("droppable"); } }); } }); });

  • PHP session not working with JQuery Ajax?

    - by Bolt_Head
    Update, Solved: After all this I found out that I was calling an old version of my code in the update ajax. 'boardControl.php' instead of 'boardUpdate.php' These are the kinds of mistakes that make programing fun. I'm writing a browser gomoku game. I have the ajax statement that allows the player to play a piece. $(document).ready(function() { $("td").live('click',function(){ var value = $(this).attr('id'); $.get('includes/boardControl.php',{play: value, bid: bid}); }); }); value = board square location bid = board ID Before creating a user login for player identification, the server side php had a temporary solution. It would rotate the piece state for the squares when clicked instead of knowing what player to create them for. After creating login stuff I set a session variable for the player's ID. I was hoping to read the session ID from the php during the ajax request and figure out what player they are from there. session_start(); ... $playerId = $_SESSION['char']; $Query=("SELECT p1, p2 FROM board WHERE bid=$bid"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $p1 = mysql_result($Result,0,"p1"); $p2 = mysql_result($Result,0,"p2"); $newPiece = 0; //*default no player if($playerId == $p1) $newPiece = 1; if($playerId == $p2) $newPiece = 2; For some reason when I run the full web app, the pieces still cycle though, even after I deleted the code to make them cycle. Furthermore, after logging in If i manually load the php page in the browser, it modifies the database correctly (where it only plays pieces belonging to that player) and outputs the correct results. It seems to me that the session is not being carried over when used with Ajax. Yet Google searches tell me that, sessions do work with Ajax. Update: I'm trying to provide more information. Logging in works correctly. My ID is recognized and I printed it out next to the board to ensure that I was retrieving it correctly. The ajax request does update the board. The values passed are correct and confirmed with firebug's console. However instead of placing pieces only for the player they belong to it cycles though the piece states (0,1,2). When manually browsing to boardUpdate.php and putting in the same values sent from the Ajax the results seen in the echo'ed response indicates that the corresponding piece is played each time as intended. Same results on my laptop after fresh load of firefox. Manually browsing to boardUpdate.php without logging in before hand leave the board unchanged (as intended when no user is found in the session). I've double checked the that session_start() is on the php files and double checked the session ID variables. Hope this extra information helps, i'm running out of ideas what to tell you. Should I load up the full code? Update 2: After checking the Ajax responce in fire-bug I realized that the 'play' request does not get a result, and the board is not updated till the next 'update'. I'm still looking into this but I'll post it here for you guys too. boardUpdate.php Notable places are: Refresh Board(line6) Place Piece(line20) function boardUpdate($turnCount) (line63) <?php session_start(); require '../../omok/dbConnect.php'; //*** Refresh Board *** if(isset($_GET['update'])) { $bid = $_GET['bid']; $Query=("SELECT turn FROM board WHERE bid=$bid"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $turnCount=mysql_result($Result,0,"turn"); if($_GET['turnCount'] < $turnCount) //** Turn increased { boardUpdate($turnCount); } } //*** Place Piece *** if(isset($_GET['play'])) // turn order? player detect? { $squareID = $_GET['play']; $bid = $_GET['bid']; $Query=("SELECT turn, boardstate FROM board WHERE bid=$bid"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $turnCount=mysql_result($Result,0,"turn"); $boardState=mysql_result($Result,0,"boardstate"); $turnCount++; $playerId = $_SESSION['char']; $Query=("SELECT p1, p2 FROM board WHERE bid=$bid"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $p1 = mysql_result($Result,0,"p1"); $p2 = mysql_result($Result,0,"p2"); $newPiece = 0; //*default no player if($playerId == $p1) $newPiece = 1; if($playerId == $p2) $newPiece = 2; // if($newPiece != 0) // { $oldPiece = getBoardSpot($squareID, $bid); $oldLetter = $boardState{floor($squareID/3)}; $slot = $squareID%3; //***function updateCode($old, $new, $current, $slot)*** $newLetter = updateCode($oldPiece, $newPiece, $oldLetter, $slot); $newLetter = value2Letter($newLetter); $newBoard = substr_replace($boardState, $newLetter, floor($squareID/3), 1); //** Update Query for boardstate & turn $Query=("UPDATE board SET boardState = '$newBoard', turn = '$turnCount' WHERE bid = '$bid'"); mysql_query($Query); // } boardUpdate($turnCount); } function boardUpdate($turnCount) { $json = '{"turnCount":"'.$turnCount.'",'; //** turnCount ** $bid = $_GET['bid']; $Query=("SELECT boardstate FROM board WHERE bid='$bid'"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $Board=mysql_result($Result,0,"boardstate"); $json.= '"boardState":"'.$Board.'"'; //** boardState ** $json.= '}'; echo $json; } function letter2Value($input) { if(ord($input) >= 48 && ord($input) <= 57) return ord($input) - 48; else return ord($input) - 87; } function value2Letter($input) { if($input >= 10) return chr($input += 87); else return chr($input += 48); } //*** UPDATE CODE *** updates an letter with a new peice change and returns result letter. //***** $old : peice value before update //***** $new : peice value after update //***** $current : letterValue of code before update. //***** $slot : which of the 3 sqaures the change needs to take place in. function updateCode($old, $new, $current, $slot) { if($slot == 0) {// echo $current,"+((",$new,"-",$old,")*9)"; return letter2Value($current)+(($new-$old)*9); } else if($slot == 1) {// echo $current,"+((",$new,"-",$old,")*3)"; return letter2Value($current)+(($new-$old)*3); } else //slot == 2 {// echo $current,"+((",$new,"-",$old,")"; return letter2Value($current)+($new-$old); } }//updateCode() //**** GETBOARDSPOT *** Returns the peice value at defined location on the board. //****** 0 is first sqaure increment +1 in reading order (0-254). function getBoardSpot($squareID, $bid) { $Query=("SELECT boardstate FROM board WHERE bid='$bid'"); $Result=mysql_query($Query); $Board=mysql_result($Result,0,"boardstate"); if($squareID %3 == 2) //**3rd spot** { if( letter2Value($Board{floor($squareID/3)} ) % 3 == 0) return 0; else if( letter2Value($Board{floor($squareID/3)} ) % 3 == 1) return 1; else return 2; } else if($squareID %3 == 0) //**1st spot** { if(letter2Value($Board{floor($squareID/3)} ) <= 8) return 0; else if(letter2Value($Board{floor($squareID/3)} ) >= 18) return 2; else return 1; } else //**2nd spot** { return floor(letter2Value($Board{floor($squareID/3)}))/3%3; } }//end getBoardSpot() ?> Please help, I'd be glad to provide more information if needed. JSON {"users": [ { "id": 1, "name": "arnold" }, { "id": 2, "name": "frankie" } ]} Ajax call $.ajax({ url: "http://localhost:8000/json", //vs. json.js dataType: 'json', type: 'get', timeout: 20000, error: function() { alert("error"); }, beforeSend: function() { alert("beforeSend"); }, complete: function() { alert("complete"); }, success: function(data) { alert(data.users[0].name); } }); view.py return HttpResponse(simplejson.dumps(data), content_type = 'application/json; charset=utf8')

  • jQuery Autocomplete: how to refresh list?

    - by cinematic
    I have a form with a variable number of autocomplete fields that use the same select list. These fields are added and removed as needed. Whenever a parameter on the page is changed, I (try to) update the list for all the fields by first calling unbind() then autocomplete() with a new parameter added to the url. $('input.foo').unbind().autocomplete(url?new_param=bar); The problem is that unbind() does not seem to be unbinding. When I type in the input field, it fires off the entire history of autocomplete events. I also tried flushCache to no avail. How do I clear out the old events? Thanks.

  • Jquery getJSON() doesn't work when trying to get data from java server on localhost

    - by bellesebastien
    The whole day yesterday I've been trying to solve this but it's proven to be very challenging for me. I'm trying to use this JS to get information from a java application I wrote. $(document).ready(function() { $.getJSON('http://localhost/custest?callback=?', function(json) { alert('OK'); $('.result').html(json.description); }); }); The Java application uses httpServer and is very basic. When I access the page 'http://localhost/custest?callback=?' with Firefox, the browser shows me the server is sending me json data and asks with what to open it with, but when I try it from a webpage using the JS above it doesn't work. The getJSON call is not successful, the alert("ok") doesn't popup at all. If it replace "http://localhost/custest?callback=?" in the JS with "http://twitter.com/users/usejquery.json?callback=?" everything works fine. An interesting thing is that if I send malformed JSON from my java server Firebug gives an error and tells me what is missing from the JSON so that mean the browser is receiving the JSON data, but when I send it correct a JSON string nothing happens, no errors, not even the alert() opens. I'm adding the headers in case you think these could be relevant. http://localhost/custest?callback=jsonp1274691110349 GET /custest?callback=jsonp1274691110349 HTTP/1.1 Host: localhost User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100401 Firefox/3.6.3 Accept: */* Accept-Language: en-us,en;q=0.5 Accept-Encoding: gzip,deflate Accept-Charset: ISO-8859-1,utf-8;q=0.7,*;q=0.7 Keep-Alive: 115 Connection: keep-alive HTTP/1.1 200 OK Transfer-Encoding: chunked Content-Type: application/json Thanks for your help
