If I add styles via the css method, it does not work for dynamically created elements... Please help me to get dynamic elements' width and how to apply styles into that? I know we can use the live function, but I can't get even by that..

• Why, in Ruby, does Array("foo\nbar") == ["foo\n", "bar"]?

  In Ruby 1.8.7, Array("hello\nhello") gives you ["hello\n", "hello"]. This does two things that I don't expect: It splits the string on newlines. I'd expect it simply to give me an array with the string I pass in as its single element without modifying the data I pass in. Even if you accept that it's reasonable to split a string when passing it to Array, why does it retain the newline character when "foo\nbar".split does not? Additionally: >> Array.[] "foo\nbar" => ["foo\nbar"] >> Array.[] *"foo\nbar" => ["foo\n", "bar"]

• Where does ASP.Net get its rendered IDs from?

  Hi, I've inherited a project with some nasty JavaScript that depends on hard coded object ids. i.e. There are lots of places where it does things like this var magazine = document.getElementById('repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0'); When the page renders in my UAT environment, the HTML looks like this, and everything works OK. <input id="repModuleDisplay__ctl3_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay:_ctl3:chkCats:0" ... etc However, when I put it on my Production environment, the HTML is suddenly rending like this: <input id="repModuleDisplay_ctl03_chkCats_0" type="checkbox" name="repModuleDisplay$ctl03$chkCats$0" ... etc The difference in ids means that the JavaScript can't find the Element, and fails. In an ideal world, I'd scrap the buggy JavaScript and do it again properly, but for a quick fix, I'd like to know what is causing the difference in rendering between the two environments.   I have a many-to-one relationship that users can edit via checkboxes. PK of Foo is ID, and fid contains the id from the checkbox. I'm checking to see if an element exists with: Foo ent; try { ent = ctx.Foo.First(f => f.ID == fid); } catch (System.InvalidOperationException ioe) { ent = new Foo(); } It seems to me that I should be able to do this without throwing an exception. What would be the best way to do this?

  I have a class called object which has an element called 'level'. I want to get a list of all the different values of level on the page so I can select the highest one. If I do something like: $(".object").attr("level") will that get me a list of values that are the values of the level attribute? I suspect not, but then how do you do something like that. Note: I don't want to select an HTML object for manipulation as is more common, rather I want to select values of the attribute.

  I want to break a string according to the following rules: all consecutive alpha-numeric chars, plus the dot (.) must be treated as one part all other consecutive chars must be treated as one part consecutive combinations of 1 and 2 must be treated as different parts no whitespace must be returned For example this string: Method(hierarchy.of.properties) = ? Should return this array: Array ( [0] => Method [1] => ( [2] => hierarchy.of.properties [3] => ) [4] => = [5] => ? ) I was unsuccessful with preg_split(), as AFAIK it cannot treat the pattern as an element to be returned. Any idea for a simple way to do this?

• How can I bind dynamic data to DataGridTemplateColun in code?

  I'm using DataGrid from CodePlex. I have objects (ICustomTypeDescriptor) that have properties 'name' 'description' 'c' 'd' and so on (the names are dynamic, and so is the value) and they have information behind them. I have templates for different types. And if I have to list the properties of a single element I can just bind to the values in xaml and use datatemplateselector (in datagridtemplatecolumn) which will pick the correct template. However, when I'm listing several of the elements, how can I use the selectors and the templates? How do I get the correct property bound to the template (two-way)? When ignoring the need for different templates, using DataGridTextColumn with bindings is very simple (and works, see example below), is there any way to use similar approach with the DataGridTemplateColumn? foreach (String propertyName in listOfPropertyNames) { DataGridTextColumn textColumn = new DataGridTextColumn() { Header = propertyName, Binding = new Binding() { Path = new PropertyPath(propertyName) } }; DataGrid.Columns.Add(textColumn); }

  Consider compounds of two nouns, which in natural English would most often appear in the form "noun of noun", e.g. "direction of light", "output of a filter". When programming we usually write "LightDirection" and "FilterOutput". Now, I have a problem with plural nouns. There are two cases: 1) singular of plural e.g. "union of (two) sets", "intersection of (two) segments" Which is correct, SetUnion and SegmentIntersection or SetsUnion and SegmentsIntersection? 2) plural of plural There are two subcases: (a) Many elements, each having many related elements, e.g. "outputs of filters" (b) Many elements, each having single related element, e.g. "directions of vectors" Shell I use FilterOutputs and VectorDirections or FiltersOutputs and VectorsDirections? I suspect correct is the first version (FilterOutupts, VectorDirections), but I think it may lead to ambiguities, e.g. FilterOutputs - many outputs of a single filter or many outputs of many filters?   I am developing a personal blog in ASP.NET MVC 1.0. This blog application has Views like "Insert Post", "Edit Post", etc. I need to post a string containing HTML back to the appropriate controller method. That HTML value is being posted from a textarea. I've read that it's necessary to disable ValidateRequest directly on the page with the attribute ValidateRequest = "false" or in the web.config file. When I insert an HTML value in my textarea, I get always the error of 'potential value dangerous'. How can I use ValidateRequest to allow the form element containing HTML values to be posted?

• Using WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application doesn't show me any information

  I am trying to use WPFPerf to profile a WPF 4.0 application (I have the latest WPFPerf that should work on WPF 4.0 aps). I start the tool Visual Profiler from WPFPerf, I start my aplication, but after that nothing happens and the element tree from the Visual Profiler is empty. No other error message is shown. Can anyone tell me what am I not doint right? As an additional information, when I try to analize my .exe assembly or any other assembly from my application, I get a BadFormatException saying that the assembly was build with a newer version of .NET. From the download page http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=191420 I see that this version of WPFPerf should be ok for my app

  Hi everyone I load from a txt file many info, and I would like, if possible, to dynamically create NSmutable dictionary with the elements of the txt. For example, each is like that: id of element | date | text What I'm asking is the equivalent of the NSString stringWithFormat:. Can we do the same for an Mutable Dictionary? To be more practical, let's say the NSString *date is equal to "23/12/2009" (for europe). I want to create a dictionary called 23/12/2009 without declaring *23/12/2009 but just something like dictionaryWithFormat: @"%@", date]; I'm stuck on this, and I don't even know if it is possible. • Tool to measure Render time

  Hi Folks, Is there a tool out there to measure the actual Render time of an element(s) on a page? I don't mean download time of the resources, but the actual time the browser took to render something. I know that this time would vary based on factors on the client machine, but would still be very handy in knowing what the rendering engine takes a while to load. I would imagine this should be a useful utility since web apps are becoming pretty client heavy now. Any thoughts?

• Can I set a style for the content of an iframe from the main page?

  We have a page the embeds a Google Calendar in an iframe. Recently, a warning box div began appearing on the calendar that looks like this: <div id="warningBox" style="color:#aa0000;">Events from one or more calendars could not be shown here because you do not have the permission to view them.</div> Obviously the best solution here is to find the private events and remove them, but so far the search for those events has proved fruitless. This calendar is an aggregate of several calendars, including a few we don't control (ie weather). We're still looking, but in the meantime, I would like to try to hide that div. I know that iframes enforce the separation between the pages, such that the child page is pretty much a law unto itself. But surely there must be some way to set a style on an element inside the frame?

  So I have a form that is using a custom filter (which is really just a copy of Zend_Filter_Null). I'm trying to pass an object into a function but think there's a problem with $(this) not actually being valid at the point of passing it in. $('textarea#quote').live('bind',function(){ }).limit('10',$(this).parents('form').children().find('span#qc') ); The second parameter can be either a string or an object like $('span#qc'), but I also want to be able to pass in an object which references the current one. Why? Because I have several forms on same page, each containing textarea#quote, so depending on which form is selected I want to be able to reference a particular element within the same form.   In ASP.NET, when you give a tag an ID it generates a unique HTML id for the element based on the control hierachy, ie. <asp:Panel ID="test" runat="server"> ... </asp:Panel> <!-- Becomes... --> <div id="plc_lt_zoneContent_PagePlaceholder_PagePlaceholder_lt_test_test"> ... </div> Is there some way of determining the generated id in the codebehind file? I need to generate some Javascript that uses the id.

  Hi, I am trying to parse an xml file using XmlReader but although I am getting a return from the xml file for the (commission) node for some reason I am getting an empty SimpleXMLElement Object returned as well. I don't know if its something to do with while loop,switch or something I missed in the parse setup. • Controlling a browser from Python

  I am looking for a way to control a browser from Python, i.e. fill out form fields and submit them, possibly call JS functions. I've looked around a bit, but as far as I could see PyWebKitGtk only lets you show the browser as a GUI element, not interface with it. Is there a way to do this easily? I wrote my program logic in Python, and I would hate to port it to JS. Besides that, even if I'd use pure JS "bookmarklets", those wouldn't be able to read/write to my local filesystem, would they? P.S. to quell your suspicions, I'm not trying to automatically fill out forum account creation forms or something similarly spammious, though the task is technically similar. I need to crawl/scrape sites for my research project.
