• [NUnit+Moq] Guidelines for using Assert versus Verify

  I'm new to unit testing, and I'm learning how to use NUnit and Moq. NUnit provides Assert syntax for testing conditions in my unit tests, while Moq provides some Verify functions. To some extent these seem to provide the same functionality. How do I know when it's more appropriate to use Assert or Verify? Maybe Assert is better for confirming state, and Verify is better for confirming behavior (Classical versus Mockist)?

  Hello all, Where I can find DeskUtil documentation/help? I am trying to build Delphi add-in and I have some troubles with saving/registering/loading the add-in docking form into the active IDE desktop. I am using the DeskUtil methods after reading some examples here and there, but, examples don’t go deep in how these methods work, and in the mechanism of the IDE loading/destroying. Is there any official documentation/help about the DeskUtil or the OpenTools Api? In other words, how and where can developer like me get deep knowledge (not articles or demos) about IDE and OpenTools Api? Thanks for your help.

• Close socket handle utility

  Hi I need a utility to close server socket handles open by the process, on windows. I cannot use tcpview as it does not close the server socket (ESTABLISHED state). Process explorer comes close with its handle list and "close handle" option, but it only gives the handle path (like \Device\Afd) and if application has open many such sockets I cannot tell which handle I would like to close. Any idea?

• Mdi Children Changed in .Net

  Hi Is there a simple way of tracking the change of an Mdi's children i.e. when they are created and closed, something like an event OnMdiChildListChanged (I realise this doesn't actually exist). I am also aware that I could have a method within my Mdi that handles the creation of child forms and logs the state of them or even create an Interface that defines that a child form has a "NotifyParent" method that is then called on close of the form, but i was wondering if there was any built in events that i could plumb into? I understand that this is the existing definition of PUT - this question is about the reason(s) why it would be defined that way. i.e: What is gained by preventing partial PUTs? Why was preventing idempotent partial updates considered an acceptable loss?

  Well I'm doing some Java - C integration, and throught C library werid type mappings are used (theres more of them;)): #define CHAR char /* 8 bit signed int */ #define SHORT short /* 16 bit signed int */ #define INT int /* "natural" length signed int */ #define LONG long /* 32 bit signed int */ typedef unsigned char BYTE; /* 8 bit unsigned int */ typedef unsigned char UCHAR; /* 8 bit unsigned int */ typedef unsigned short USHORT; /* 16 bit unsigned int */ typedef unsigned int UINT; /* "natural" length unsigned int*/ Is there any legitimate reason not to use them? It's not like char is going to be redefined anytime soon. I can think of: Writing platform/compiler portable code (size of type is underspecified in C/C++) Saving space and time on embedded systems - if you loop over array shorter than 255 on 8bit microprocessor writing: for(uint8_t ii = 0; ii < len; ii++) will give meaureable speedup.

But when printed to the JSP file and displayed at runtime using <%=pm.getMessage()%> or <%out.print(pm.getMessage());%> The actual html code comes out all messed up, You have received a new <a 5282053859835904');'="" onclick="return popupRentalView(" href="">Rental Request 5282053859835904</a> . Please view your open orders. Any thoughts on why the displayed string does not match the saved string?   Can anyone tell me how to show animated progress bar while the data from an Excel sheet to a SQL database table is being transfered? I have a form in .aspx page. In that form, there is one FileUpload control that uploads an Excel file. While uploading that file and saving it on the server at the same time I'm transferring the data from the Excel sheet to a SQL table. During this transfer, I want to show a ProgressBar and after transferring all data it will be removed automatically.. Is there something I can do to achieve this?

• Creating an Order Column for encrypted data

  I am saving encrypted data to a database. Is there a way I can create a "hashcode" or fingerprint or checksum of the plain text data, that if I sort / order by on the "hashcode" the order would be the same as if I had saved the plain text data and perform the same sort / order by operation on it? I basically need a SOUNDEX() type function that will give me a value that will maintain the order of the plain text data. I would then save both encrypted data and the "hashcode" and when querying the data order by the "hashcode" field. I need to perform this in the application and preferably not in the SQL DB if at all possible. I am using Entity Framework and SQL 2008 and C# 4.0.

  Emulating multithreading by loading a DLL multiple times (it's designed for this). Since LoadLibrary() doesn't really allow it, the DLL copies itself into a temporary file, via GetTempPath() and GetTempFileName(). It's a small file and upon thread destruction it frees the library and deletes the temporary file. Problem now is that the number of threads is configurable (maniacs can pick 50, 100, more) which basically exposes the risk of running unstable, crash and not go through the usual "delete temporary files" routine. Is it okay if I just leave those temporary files to die there? Does the OS usually clean the up by itself? Or should I write an autocleanup routine? If yes, how can I go about saving another temporary file to hold a list with those files, and not hit UAC restrictions or otherwise? Any ideas?

• Is gzip compression useful for mobile devices?

  Hi SO, I'm wondering if anyone has a clue on whether the gzip compression is as much useful on mobile devices than it is on a desktop computer. Will the phone use more battery? Or will it save some because of the bandwidth saving? Will the page page load faster or is the uncompress process slow on those limited devices? Does the compressed data actually reach the end-user or is it uncompressed somewhere by the 3G provider? (this may be a stupid question, sorry). Thank you.
