• Connection reset when calling disconnect() using enterprisedt's ftp java framework

  I'm having trouble disconnecting from a ftp-server, using the enterprisedt java ftp framework. I can simply not call disconnect() on a FileTransferClient object without getting an error. I cannot fint ANYTHING related to this by doing a Google-search, so I was hoping you have any suggestions, or experience with this issue.

  Since I can't figure out how to solve my problem presented here I'm thinking for the moment at a temporary solution. How can I make this text entry field to be uneditable. Actually I want to have only the possibility to choose the date from calendar and not to change it manually. Which is the reason for this? Can this be solved? Also let's say I let to the user to opportunity to manually modify the date - can I put some validators on it? Thank you.

• Formatted text encoding in binary plist

  I'm trying to do some scripting that edits a binary plist file. The plist describes the objects contained in a DVD studio pro file. It appears that a text box in DVD studio pro is encoded in the plist as hex data that describes the text string along with its formatting. I can't seem to figure out how to understand this data. Ideally, I'd like to be able to alter the text string but not the formatting. The following seems to describe a text box that says "Menu title here". There are two hex strings, one with the key called "dictionary" and the other called "string"; both are CFData. Any ideas how I can parse this or convert this into a format that I can edit directly? • How to profile Doctrine in Zend Framework

  Good day. I'm using Doctrine as ORM for my Zend Framework project. This is the first time I use it. I've followed the ZendCasts Doctrine chapters, and everything works for me, but I needed to perform some profiling; There is a Doctrine_Connection_Profiler class that should be used to profile the Doctrine Model internal queries, but I've tried to use it without success. I always get a "PDOException: You cannot serialize or unserialize PDOStatement instances" exception when I perform my Unit Tests. Here is a example: $conn = Doctrine_Manager::connection($doctrineConfig['dsn'], $dbconfname); ... if( APPLICATION_ENV != 'production'){ $obj_doctrine_profiler = new Doctrine_Connection_Profiler(); $conn->setListener($obj_doctrine_profiler); } All of my Unit Tests works if I comment/delete the $conn->setListener($obj_doctrine_profiler); line. This code block is located in my Bootstrap.php class; the weird thing is, the web application works just fine even with the mentioned code line. • Most unintuitive behaviour in the .Net framework?

  Intended behavior is often another phrase for bug-which-we-knew-about-when-we-wrote-it, but-we-wrote-it-anyways. Because it was "intended" (or perhaps it is now too late or too difficult), many of these extremely-unintuitive bugs never get fixed. For instance, consider the following code (C#): TextInfo textInfo = Thread.CurrentThread.CurrentCulture.TextInfo; textInfo.ToTitleCase("hello world!"); //Returns "Hello World!" textInfo.ToTitleCase("hElLo WoRld!"); //Returns "Hello World!" textInfo.ToTitleCase("Hello World!"); //Returns "Hello World!" What would you expect textInfo.ToTitleCase("HELLO WORLD!"); to return? In fact, it returns "HELLO WORLD!". This was well-documented "intended behavior," but, in my eyes, is extremely unintuitive, and therefore a bug. What is some other unintuitive behavior like this in this in the .Net framework? Bonus points if you can provide a fix that does not break backwards-compatibility. Remember! Always keep these two simple rules in mind when designing an API (or anything else): Make the common case the default, and Keep It Simple, Stupid!

• Dependency injection with web services?

  I've recently discovered a possible candidate for dependency injection in a .Net application I've designed. Due to a recent organizational policy, it is no longer possible to call smtp mail services from client machines on our network. So I'm going to have to refactor all the code in my application where it was previously calling the smtp object to send out mail. I created a new WCF web service on an authorized web server that does allow for smtp mail messaging. This seems to be a great candidate for dependency injection. I will create a new INotification interface that will have a method like 'void SendNotification(MailMessage msg)' and create a new property in my application where you can set this property to any class that implements this interface. My question tho, is whether it's possible, through dependency injection, to encapsulate the instantiation of a .NET WCF web service? I am fairly new at IoC and Dependency injection frameworks, so I am not quite sure if it can handle web service dependencies? I'm hoping someone else out there has come across this situation or has knowledge regarding this subject? cheers, John

• Custom Calculations in a Matrix - Reporting Services 2005

  I am writing a report to show gas usage (in gallons) used by each department. The request is to view each month and the gallons used by each department. A column is required to display what each departments target goal is, based on the gallons of gas they have used in a past time frame. Each departments target goal is x percent less than the total gallons used for said time frame. I currently have a matrix in Reporting Services with departments making up rows, months making up columns, and gallons filling the details. The matrix is being filled by dataset1. I have the data grouping as is requested for each month by each department. My problem is calculating the target goal. My thought was to create a second dataset (dataset2) that returns the gallons used based on the time frame requested. I grouped this data by department. I was hoping I could use the department field in each dataset to make sure the appropriate numbers were used. I added a new column which shows up next to the gallons field. As I attempted to build the Expression I found out that I could only grab the gallons used from dataset2 if I was summing the gallons field. This gives me the total gallons used by every department combined. I have tried to find resources with similar examples of what I am trying to accomplish but I cannot seem to come across one. I am trying to keep this as detailed as possible without making it too wordy. I would be more than happy to clarify or explain into further detail what I have written above if it is needed. If anyone has links, comments, or suggestions they would be greatly appreciated. A very simple visual or what I am hoping to accomplish is below.   I have an application that is running on Rials so now I want to add the text editor(FCKEditor/TinyMCE) to adit text/uploading images on website. I have google the internet until I got FCKeditor for Rails(http://rubyforge.org/projects/fckeditorp/) "which has a function of uploading pictures but ones you uploaded the images you can't delete/rename them :( " I tried to look for another solution and I got another FCKEditor - Ajax File Manager plugin for PHP(it works fine on my Rails Application) but the problem is I need some information from rails to use it in php e.g: session for the current login user. 1.) is there anyone got an Idea on how to get those Ruby sessions in php script? 2.) I looked at saving it in javascript session and access it in php via javascript cause both can talk to Javascript. 3.) or is there any Rails text editor which has a functionality of uploading/deleting the images? 4.) Or any better way of doing this... cause the only thing I need is the text editor that will allow me to uploaded/delete images NOt via the url but the one that will save the images on the server.   Hello! As the header is implying I'm trying to retrieve a certain line of numbers from a richtextbox and then put it into a separate textbox. I've tried this code below but it doesn't wanna work with me. It's probably way wrong and there's probably easier ways of doing it but I'm quite new to this stuff and I would appreciate all the help I can get in this matter. • Qt/MFC Migration Framework tool: properly exiting DLL?

  I'm using the Qt/MFC Migration Framework tool following this example: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/solutions/4/qtwinmigrate/winmigrate-qt-dll-example.html The dll I build is loaded by a 3rd party MFC-based application. The 3rd party app basically calls one of my exported DLL functions to startup my plugin and another function to shutdown my application. Currently I'm doing nothing in my shutdown function. When I load my DLL in the 3rd party app the startup function is called and my DLL starts successfully and I can see my message box. However if I shutdown my plugin and then try to start it again I get the following error: Debug Error! Program: <my 3rd party app> Module: 4.7.1 File: global\qglobal.cpp Line: 2262 ASSERT failure in QWidget: "Widgets must be created in the GUI thread.", file kernel\qwidget.cpp line 1233 (Press Retry to debug the application) Abort Retry Ignore This makes me think I'm not doing something to properly shutdown my plugin. What do I need to do to shut it down properly? UPDATE: http://doc.qt.nokia.com/solutions/4/qtwinmigrate/winmigrate-walkthrough.html says: The DLL also has to make sure that it can be loaded together with other Qt based DLLs in the same process (in which case a QApplication object will probably exist already), and that the DLL that creates the QApplication object remains loaded in memory to avoid other DLLs using memory that is no longer available to the process. So I wonder if there is some problem where I need to somehow keep the original DLL loaded no matter what?

  I'm having a strange problem in that I have php inserting text into a <textarea> and the <textarea> is adding one white space to the top of my text. • RegisterStartupScript not working after upgrading to framework 3.5

  I'm trying to upgrade an asp.net c# web project from framework 2.0 to 3.5. When I do this, the client side script that gets written using RegisterStartupScript isn't rendered on the client page. This works perfectly when I compile for 2.0, and for 3.0, but not when I compile for 3.5. Here is the code that isn't getting rendered: Page myPage = (Page)HttpContext.Current.Handler; ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript(myPage, myPage.GetType(), "alertscript", "alert('test');", true); This is called from a class project, and not the web project itself, which is why I'm using the HttpContext.Current.Handler. There are no errors getting generated from the compiler, the CLR, and there are no client side JavaScript errors. If I do a search for the "alertscript" in my rendered page, the above code actually isn't there. Anyone have ideas as to what is going on? -Edit- This seems to be an issue when I'm trying to register the script from an external project. If I use the exact same code in a class file in the web project (not the code behind), it works. However, if I make a call to a method in a class from another project, it does not work. Does the ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript not get registered correctly if performed from somewhere besides the web project itself?

• KERN-EXEC 3 when navigating within a text box (Symbian OS Browser Control)

  I've had nothing but grief using Symbian's browser control on S60 3rd edition FP1. We currently display pages and many things are working smoothly. However, when inputting text into an HTML text field, the user will get a KERN-EXEC 3 if they move left at the beginning of the text input area (which should "wrap" it to the end) or if they move right at the end of the text input area (which should "wrap" it to the beginning). I can't seem to trap the input in OfferKeyEventL. I get the key event, I return EKeyWasConsumed and the cursor still moves. • Play framework does not return page and static content

  I'm using play framework in production for one of my web projects. From time to time Play does not render main page or does not return some of the static content files. I have attached few screenshots below. First screenshot displays firebug console, loading of the site is stucked at the beginning, when serving home page. Second screenshot display fiddler console, when 2 static resources are not loading. This issue is hard to reproduce, it happens 1 of 15 time, I have to delete cache data and reload page. (pressing CRTL-F5 in FF). Issue can be reproduced in most of the browsers. Initially, I was thinging that there is something wrong with hosting provider. But I have changed hosting provided and issue has not gone. Version of the play is 1.2.2. Play is running as standalone server. Not sure, but probably deploying Play to Jetty/Tomcat/Resin would help. Also I'm thinging about rewriting application to another stack (well-known for me - j2ee, spring, whatever) I have no idea how to debug and resolve this issue. Any clue ? Has anyone faced same issue with Play before ?

  Hi Im using the above technologies and have ran into what I presume is a design issue I have made. I have an Artwork table in my DB and have been able to add art (I now think of these as Digital Products) to a shopping cart + CartLine table fine. The system I have that adds art to galleries and user accounts etc works fine. Now the client wants to sell T-shirts, Mugs and Pens etc, 'HardwareProducts' so I have created a 'HardwareProducts' table. Now I have two different product types in two tables. I use GUID's as the PK's in both the HardwareProducts table and Artwork table. When a customer adds an item to their cart I store the GUID in the ProductID column in the CartItems table. The issue is the database will not know which table to reference when I bring the LineItem object up through my ORM to the front end. In OOP I can see how you would have a base class of Product, and then a DigitalProduct class and HardwareProduct class drived from it, but how do you model this in SQL Server and the Entity Framework please, or is there another way?

  I know that with Network Load Balancing and Failover Clusteringwe can make passive services highly available. But what about active apps? Example: One of my apps retrieves some content from a external resource in a fixed interval. I have imagined the following scenarios: Run it in a single machine. Problem: if this instance falls, the content won't be retrieved Run it in each machine of the cluster. Problem: the content will be retrieved multiple times Have it in each machine of the cluster, but run it only in one of them. Each instance will have to check some sort of common resource to decide whether it its turn to do the task or not. When I was thinking about the solution #3 I have wondered what should be the common resource. I have thought of creating a table in the database, where we could use it to get a global lock. Is this the best solution? How does people usually do this? By the way it's a C# .NET WCF app running on Windows Server 2008

• Prevent Text Input expanding in IE

  Hi, I am having a problem with an input field in IE. The code is for a portlet and widths need to be dynamic as the user can place the portlet on any of the three columns in the page which all have different widths. As always it works fine in FF but not in IE. In order to make the width dyanaic I have set width="100%". Data to populate the text input comes from a DB. When the page is rendered if there is a long URL the text input expands to fill the contents in IE but in FF it just stays the same width (ie 100% of the TD that it lives in). How can I stop IE from changing the width in order to fit the contents. Setting the width to a fixed width of 100px fixes the issue but I need to have the width as a percentage in order to accommodate the layout of the portlet wherever it is put in on the page. I have tried overflow:hidden and word-wrap:break-word but I cant get either to work. • Logging *Business* Events - use logging framework?

  Hi, Something here doesn't feel right to me here, and so I would like the community's input - perhaps I am approaching this in the wrong way.... Q: Is is appropriate to use traditional infrastructure logging frameworks (like log4net) to log business events? When I say business events, I mean I want a global log like this: xx:xx Customer A purchased widget B. xx:xx Widget B was dispatched from warehouse. xx:xx Customer B payment declined. Most traditional infrastructure logging frameworks have event levels something like this: FATAL ERROR WARN INFO DEBUG An of course these messages don't fit well into that. Best description would be INFO, but of course these are important events, and INFO is of very low importance. I would still like this as a 'log' (e.g. I don't want to have to extract this from my business objects each time I want to see it) Seems to me I have two options: 1) Use a framework like log4net and just define a special logger for this (and live with the fact that it doesn't feel right). 2) Provide a service for performing this that doesn't rely on a traditional logging services. I'm leaning towards 2. What has anyone else done in a similar situations? Thanks!

• Preserve whitespace and formatting for text returned from $.get jquery call

  I have a jquery $.get() call in my app that requests an entire web page. In the callback function, I access a div in the returned page, get its data and show it on my page. The problem is that the text I get from the div does not preserve the source formatting. If the div in the requested page had say an ordered list, then when i get that text and display on my page, it shows up as a paragraph with items inline instead of being shown as a list.
