  • Does Mootools prevents javascript closure 100%?

    - by terrani
Hi, While I was talking about javascript closure to my friend, I was told that using Mootools can prevent closures 100%. To my knowledege, a variable causes a closure. How does Mootools itself prevents javascript closure? I think my friend is sayting that Mootools' functions are closure-safe functions. Any suggestions?

  • Do not fetch app.manifest each time

    - by Kristof
For creating an offline version of a bunch of linked web pages I use an app.manifest-file that lists all the web pages for offline caching. I would like it that the app.manifest file is not fetched every time when a user jumps from one web page to another. Most of the web pages will never be updated once the application is on the iPhone. Also the target audience is abroad so roaming costs could add up while users are using my "web app". Searching the internet made me think in the direction of forcing an offline mode in Mobile Safari using Javascript but I don't know if this is the right way to go or if it is even possible. Does anyone have any other and/or better ideas and suggestions on how to do this?

  • Who likes short shorts?

    - by kiwicptn
I got $2 change instead of $3 today and that got me thinking about short for some reason. What can do (these days ;-p) with a variable of the short primitive type (16 bits signed)? Any good reason to keep them around?

  • Python: Create a duplicate of an array

    - by Dan
I have an double array alist[1][1]=-1 alist2=[] for x in xrange(10): alist2.append(alist[x]) alist2[1][1]=15 print alist[1][1] and I get 15. Clearly I'm passing a pointer rather than an actual variable... Is there an easy way to make a seperate double array (no shared pointers) without having to do a double for loop? Thanks, Dan

  • variables in jasper report

    - by ed1t
Is there a way I could declare a variable of type HashMap which would call some java method to populate the HashMap? I want to have a hashmap in a report so depending on what the value of a certain field is, I would like to get the full description of it from an Hashmap.

  • Grails / GORM, read-only cache and transient fields

    - by Stephen Swensen
Suppose I have the following Domain object mapping to a legacy table, utilizing read-only second-level cache, and having a transient field: class DomainObject { static def transients = ['userId'] Long id Long userId static mapping = { cache usage: 'read-only' table 'SOME_TABLE' } } I have a problem, references to DomainObject instances seem to be shared due to the caching, and thus transient fields are writing over each other. For example, def r1 = DomainObject.get(1) r1.userId = 22 def r2 = DomainObject.get(1) r2.userId = 34 assert r1.userId == 34 That is, r1 and r2 are references to the same instance. This is undesirable, I would like to cache the table data without sharing references. Any ideas?

  • Stripping blank spaces and newlines from strings in C

    - by Nazgulled
Hi, I have some input like this: " aaaaa bbb \n cccccc\n ddddd \neeee " And I need to sanitize it like this: "aaaaa bbb cccccc ddddd neeee" Basically: Trim all blank spaces at the beginning and end of the string Strip all new lines Strip all spaces when there is more than one, but always leave ONE space between words Is there any easy way to do this or I'll have to process the string, char by char and copy the appropriate chars to a different variable?

  • Card game in python

    - by matt1024
What is the best way to store the cards and suits in python so that I can hold a reference to these values in another variable? For example, if I have a list called hand (cards in players hand), how could I hold values that could refer to the names of suits and values of specific cards, and how would these names and values of suits and cards be stored?

  • Django queries: Count number of objects with FK to model instance

    - by Chris Lawlor
This should be easy but for some reason I'm having trouble finding it. I have the following: App(models.Model): ... Release(models.Model): date = models.DateTimeField() App = models.ForeignKey(App) ... How can I query for all App objects that have at least one Release? I started typing: App.objects.all().annotate(release_count=Count('??????')).filter(release_count__gt=0) Which won't work because Count doesn't span relationships, at least as far as I can tell. BONUS: Ultimately, I'd also like to be able to sort Apps by latest release date. I'm thinking of caching the latest release date in the app to make this a little easier (and cheaper), and updating it in the Release model's save method, unless of course there is a better way. Edit: I'm using Django 1.1 - not averse to migrating to dev in anticipation of 1.2 if there is a compelling reason though.

  • Need helping creating a loop in R. Have many similarly named variables I have to apply the same func

    - by user335897
I am using a dataset w/variables that have very similar names. I have to apply the same functions to 13 variables at a time and I'm trying to shorten the code, instead of doing each variable individually. q01a.F=factor(q01a) q01b.F=factor(q01b) q01c.F=factor(q01c) q01d.F=factor(q01d) q01e.F=factor(q01e) q01f.F=factor(q01f) q01g.F=factor(q01g) q01h.F=factor(q01h) q01i.F=factor(q01i) q01j.F=factor(q01j) q01k.F=factor(q01k) q01l.F=factor(q01l) q01m.F=factor(q01m) Suggestions?

  • How to ignore expired certificates from outside a Java application?

    - by Creepy Gnome
We have a Java application that we need to ignore an expired self-signed cert, however we cannot modify the code to do this. I wondering if there was a System Property or environment variable that we could provide at start up that would allow us to have all expired cert's ignored for now, or even be more specific and provide externally the specific cert that we would like to have the expiration ignored. Anyone have any ideas that would work?

  • What's the best way to structure this Linq-to-Events Drag & Drop code?

    - by Rob Fonseca-Ensor
I am trying to handle a drag & drop interaction, which involves mouse down, mouse move, and mouse up. Here is a simplified repro of my solution that: on mouse down, creates an ellipse and adds it to a canvas on mouse move, repositions the ellipse to follow the mouse on mouse up, changes the colour of the canvas so that it's obvious which one you're dragging. var mouseDown = Observable.FromEvent<MouseButtonEventArgs>(canvas, "MouseLeftButtonDown"); var mouseUp = Observable.FromEvent<MouseButtonEventArgs>(canvas, "MouseLeftButtonUp"); var mouseMove = Observable.FromEvent<MouseEventArgs>(canvas, "MouseMove"); Ellipse ellipse = null; var q = from start in mouseDown.Do(x => { // handle mousedown by creating a red ellipse, // adding it to the canvas at the right position ellipse = new Ellipse() { Width = 10, Height = 10, Fill = Brushes.Red }; Point position = x.EventArgs.GetPosition(canvas); Canvas.SetLeft(ellipse, position.X); Canvas.SetTop(ellipse, position.Y); canvas.Children.Add(ellipse); }) from delta in mouseMove.Until(mouseUp.Do(x => { // handle mouse up by making the ellipse green ellipse.Fill = Brushes.Green; })) select delta; q.Subscribe(x => { // handle mouse move by repositioning ellipse Point position = x.EventArgs.GetPosition(canvas); Canvas.SetLeft(ellipse, position.X); Canvas.SetTop(ellipse, position.Y); }); the XAML is simply <Canvas x:Name="canvas"/> There's a few things I don't like about this code, and I need help refactoring it :) First of all: the mousedown and mouseup callbacks are specified as side effects. If two subscriptions are made to q, they will happen twice. Second, the mouseup callback is specified before the mousemove callback. This makes it a bit hard to read. Thirdly, the reference to the ellipse seems to be in a silly place. If there's two subscriptions, that variable reference will get overwritten quite quickly. I'm sure that there should be some way we can leverage the let keyword to introduce a variable to the linq expression that will mean the correct ellipse reference is available to both the mouse move and mouse up handlers How would you write this code?

  • In a bash script echo shell commands

    - by user343547
In a bash script how do I echo all shell commands called and expand any variable names? For example, given the following line: ls $DIRNAME I would like the script to run the command and display the following ls /full/path/to/some/dir The purpose is to save a log of all shell commands called and their arguments. Perhaps there is a better way of generating such a a log?

  • How do I sort an array of Person Objects by using compareto()?

    - by Adam
    Here is my code: > import java.util.Scanner; import java.util.Arrays; /** This class tests the Person class. */ public class PersonDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { int count = 0; Scanner in = new Scanner(System.in); boolean more = false; Person first = null; Person last = null; while (more) { System.out.println( "Please enter the person's name or a blank line to quit"); String name = in.nextLine(); if (name.equals("")) more = false; else { Person p = new Person(name); //new person object created with inputted name Person[] people = new Person[10]; //new array of 10 person objects people[count] = p; //declare person object with index of variable count as the new person object first = people[count]; // I have no idea what to do here. This is where I'm stuck. last = people[count]; // I can't figure out what to do with this either. first.compareTo(p); //call compareTo method on first and new person object last.compareTo(p); //call compareTo method on last and new person object count++; // increase count variable } } System.out.println("First: " + first.toString()); System.out.println("Last: " + last.toString()); } } And the Person class: /** A person with a name. */ public class Person implements Comparable { /** * Constructs a Person with a name. * @param aName the person's name */ public Person(String aName) { name = aName; } public String getName() { return name; } @Override public int compareTo(Object otherObject) { Person other = (Person)otherObject; if (name.compareTo(other.name) < 0) return -1; if (name.compareTo(other.name) > 0) return 1; return 0; } /** Returns a string representation of the object. @return name of Person */ public String toString() { return "[name=" + name + "]"; } private String name; }

  • Linq-to-sql Compiled Query is returning result from different DataContext

    - by Vladimir Kojic
    Compiled query: public static Func<OperationalDataContext, short, Machine> QueryMachineById = CompiledQuery.Compile((OperationalDataContext db, short machineID) => db.Machines.Where(m => m.MachineID == machineID).SingleOrDefault()); It looks like compiled query is caching Machine object and returning the same object even if query is called from new DataContext (I’m disposing DataContext in the service but I’m getting Machine from previous DataContext). I use POCOs and XML mapping. Revised: It looks like compiled query is returning result from new data context and it is not using the one that I passed in compiled-query. Therefore I can not reuse returned object and link it to another object obtained from datacontext thru non compiled queries. I’m using unit of work pattern : // First Call Using(new DataContext) { Machine from DataContext.Table == machine from cached query } // Do some work // Second Call is failing Using(new DataContext) { Machine from DataContext.Table <> machine from cached query }
