  I am trying to write a program which neeeds to use a proxy 3 times then move onto the next proxy in a list and so on. the user will enter their proxy list into a list/textfile and the program will use the first in the list and then carry on through the list until it gets to the end. How do i get the proxy details from the list and use them using httpwebrequest? i have no problem using a proxy if i set it within the code but dont know how to get it to work through the list basically it is like this: user enters a list of proxies into a text file program uses first proxy in list 3 times then moves onto next. this repeats until finished.

• How can I close a SimpleModal dialog when the user clicks the Back button?

  When a user clicks on a button or link, I use the SimpleModal jQuery plugin to display a dialog to overlay the entire page, preventing the user from clicking another button or link during the delay before the next page loads. (I'd like to avoid this, but that's an issue for another day.) After the next page displays, if the user clicks the Back button, the previous page still has the SimpleModal overlay displayed, preventing them from using the page. This is a problem. How can I cause the SimpleModal dialog to close automatically either when the leaves the page or when the user clicks the Back button to return to the page? I tried this without success: $("body").unload(function() { $.modal.close(); }); Thanks! Wally

  Hi there, I thought hours about that problem but I didn't come to any conclusion. My problem here is that I need a 'Previous' Button added to a form. The user should fill out a formular that is splitted up in 13 parts. Every part is an own formular having a 'Next' button for submitting everything to a database and redirecting to the next page. How do I integrate a 'Previous' button there? ... I don't if it might be usefull for you to know that I'm using cakePHP, and well I'm pretty new to it.

• Generate encoding String according to creation order.

  I need to generate encoding String for each item I inserted into the database. for example: x00001 for the first item x00002 for the sencond item x00003 for the third item The way I chose to do this is counting the rows. Before I insert the third item, I count against the database, I know there're already 2 rows, so the next encoding is ended with 3. But there is a problem. If I delete the second item, the forth item will not be the x00004,but x00003. I can add additional columns to table, to store the next encoding, I don't know if there's other better solutions ?

  I'm used to use padding + background-image to place an icon next to a link. There are many example of this approach. What is the standard to place icon next to links which is semantically correct and works in all cases? (I couldn't find an exact similar question. If there is one, just close this one as duplicate)

  I want to implement a widget (with some edit boxes and sliders) that would open beneath or next to a button ("Opener") when I hover it. The key is it's a temporary widget - as soon as it loses focus, I want it gone. Also, I want it to pop up right next to the Opener, ideally pointing an arrow to Opener. So, it's basically a tooltip. But it needs to be a widget with buttons and sliders and stuff like that. Is there a clever way to implement it without making a custom widget and writing handlers for all the mouse and focus events and recomputing its ideal position every time I open it or the Opener moves?

• How can this code be made more Pythonic?

  This next part of code does exactly what I want it to do. dem_rows and dem_cols contain float values for a number of things i can identify in an image, but i need to get the nearest pixel for each of them, and than to make sure I only get the unique points, and no duplicates. The problem is that this code is ugly and as far as I get it, as unpythonic as it gets. Besides,I stumble upon a weird article while googling,it says that when a global variable is created,it is added to window object.I just curious why this happen??And what's the benefits and uses of it??   When I delete all records from a Postgresql table and then try to reset the sequence to start a new record with number 1 when it is inserted, i get different results : SELECT setval('tblname_id_seq', (SELECT COALESCE(MAX(id),1) FROM tblname)); This sets the current value of the sequence to 1, but the NEXT record (actually the first because there are no records yet) gets number 2! And I can't set it to 0, because the minimum value in the sequence is 1! When I use : ALTER SEQUENCE tblname_id_seq RESTART WITH 1; the first record that is inserted actually gets number 1 ! But the above code doesn't accept a SELECT as a value instead of 1. I wish to reset the sequence to number 1 when there are no records, and the first record then should start with 1. But when there ARE already records in the table, I want to reset the sequence so that the next record that is inserted will get {highest}+1 Does anyone have a clear solution for this?

  My question is very simply, can one using C++, implment a link-list data structure without using pointers (next nodes)? To further qualify my question, I'm mean can one create a Linked-List data structure using only class instantiations.   I am attempting to construct my first linked list, and having read a basic introduction, have done the following. Firstly, declare a linked list node as: struct errorNode { uint8 error; struct errorNode* next; }; Secondly, define the first node globally as: struct errorNode errorList = {0, NULL}; This has been done to allow each of the libraries that make up my current project to insert errors into a common list. The function to do this is: void errorListWrite(uint8 error) { struct errorNode* newNode = malloc(sizeof(struct errorNode)); newNode->error = error; newNode->next = &errorList; errorList = *newNode; } Whilst this compiles without error, it does not function as expected. I thnk the problem is with the last two statements of the list write function, but I am unsure. A hint as to what I am doing wrong would be most appreciated.

• Graph Tour with Uniform Cost Search in Java

  Hi. I'm new to this site, so hopefully you guys don't mind helping a nub. Anyway, I've been asked to write code to find the shortest cost of a graph tour on a particular graph, whose details are read in from file. The graph is shown below: http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/8907/graphr.jpg This is for an Artificial Intelligence class, so I'm expected to use a decent enough search method (brute force has been allowed, but not for full marks). I've been reading, and I think that what I'm looking for is an A* search with constant heuristic value, which I believe is a uniform cost search. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to apply this in Java. Basically, here's what I have: Vertex class - ArrayList<Edge> adjacencies; String name; int costToThis; Edge class - final Vertex target; public final int weight; Now at the moment, I'm struggling to work out how to apply the uniform cost notion to my desired goal path. Basically I have to start on a particular node, visit all other nodes, and end on that same node, with the lowest cost. As I understand it, I could use a PriorityQueue to store all of my travelled paths, but I can't wrap my head around how I show the goal state as the starting node with all other nodes visited. Here's what I have so far, which is pretty far off the mark: public static void visitNode(Vertex vertex) { ArrayList<Edge> firstEdges = vertex.getAdjacencies(); for(Edge e : firstEdges) { e.target.costToThis = e.weight + vertex.costToThis; queue.add(e.target); } Vertex next = queue.remove(); visitNode(next); } Initially this takes the starting node, then recursively visits the first node in the PriorityQueue (the path with the next lowest cost). My problem is basically, how do I stop my program from following a path specified in the queue if that path is at the goal state? The queue currently stores Vertex objects, but in my mind this isn't going to work as I can't store whether other vertices have been visited inside a Vertex object. Help is much appreciated! Josh

  I have a SDL app that compiles fine, and the images show up, but only if they are in the correct folder with the binary next to them, if the images are moved they wont show up next time the application is run. How can I make a complete binary that will allow me to compile the images as well as the code, so that I can distribute one single binary, and not a zip file with all of my assets. I have looked into writing a .deb file which is what I think I need, but the process looked complicated. I am running Ubuntu 10.10 I only need to distribute to Ubuntu

  Each programming language comes with its concepts, best practices, libraries, tools, community, in one word: culture. Learning more than one programming language will make you a better programmer, for the more concepts you learn, the faster you will feel comfortable when the next language or technology will come. Mine, so far, are C, some C++, and Python, and many times I read that it would be worth learning LISP, for "the profound enlightenment experience you will have when you finally get it" (quoting Eric Raymond). My questions are: Which is the next one you would consider a good investment to learn? Of the many programming languages you have learnt and worked with, which ones do you consider to be an essential part of one's CS culture, and why? EDIT. Further question: is there any language you would sincerely advise to avoid as a waste of time? (The famous, and questionable, slatings in this letter from Dijkstra come to my mind.)

• Why vba doesnt handling Error 2042

  I have a variable "fila" with a full line with excel's values; The problem is when in excel I have --#N/A-- vba take that value like "Error 2042" and I cannot asign that value to "valor" and produce me an error, until this point everything is ok, now I am trying to define a "On error goto" for go to the "next" iteration in the loop "for", but I dont know Why vba doesnt handle the error.
