  • Is it possible to create a Service that listens for hardware key presses?

    I'd like to run an Android background service that will act as a keylistener from the home screen or when the phone is asleep. Is this possible? From semi-related examples online, I put together the following service, but get the error, "onKeyDown is undefined for the type Service" public class ServiceName extends Service { @Override public void onCreate() { //Stuff } public IBinder onBind(Intent intent) { //Stuff return null; } @Override public boolean onKeyDown(int keyCode, KeyEvent event) { if(event.getAction() == KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN) { switch(keyCode) { case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_A: //Stuff return true; case KeyEvent.KEYCODE_B: //Stuff return true; //etc. } } return super.onKeyDown(keyCode, event); } } I realize Android defaults to the search bar when you type from the home screen, but this really is just for a very particular use. I don't really expect to distribute this. Also, it'd be nice to use the camera button to wake the phone.

For referencing the source of your own project you use: source:some/file But since I want to refer to code in another project my thought was that I could write something like: other_project:source:some/file Anyone that knows if this is possible in some way?     I have a Visual Studio project that uses a solution file to build it. I want to generate a makefile so that I can build it using the makefile instead of the solution file. (The reason I need to do this in case you are wondering is that I am incorporating my project into a larger software system that uses makefiles to build, and I want to be able to build the whole thing using the makefiles.) Is there a way to automatically get the information from the Visual Studio solution and convert it into a makefile format, or do I need to do that manually?

    Hi, This is my model. class User{ @CollectionOfElements @JoinTable(name = "user_type", joinColumns = @JoinColumn(name = "user_id")) @Column(name = "type", nullable = false) private List<String> types = new ArrayList<String>(); } You can imagin there would be a table called "user_type", which has two columns, one is "user_id", the other is "type". And when I use hbm2ddl to generate the ddls, I can have this table, along with the foreign key constraint on "user_id". However, there is no index of this for this column. And I need this index. How can I let hibernate to generate this index for me? Thank you!

  • C#/DataSet: Create and bind a custom column/property in a DataSet`s DataTable in the XXXDataSet.cs

    Hello, I have a DataSet with a DataTable having the columns Number and Description. I do not want to bind both properties to a BindingSource bound again to 2 controls. What I want is a 3rd column in the DataTable called NumberDescription which is a composition of Number and Description. This property is bound only to 1 control/BindingSource`s property not 2. There is the partial XXXDataSet.Designer.cs file and the partial XXXDataSet.cs file. Of course I have defined the public string NumberDescription {get (doing some checks here;set (doing also some checks here} in the XXXDataSet.cs file. But all this does not bind my new property/Column to the BindingSource the DataTable is bound to because the DataSet does not know the new column/property. To make this new property/column known I could add a new column to the DataTAble in the DataSet designer view naming it NumberDescription. At least I see know the new property in the listing of the BindingSource so I can choose it. But all that did not help?? So how do I do that stuff properly? Should I call the NumberDescription Property in the Number AND Description Property ?

    I want to have two columns on my web page. For me the simples way to do that is to use a table: <table> <tr> <td> Content of the first column. </td> <td> Content of the second column. </td> </tr> </table> I like this solution because, first of all, it works (it gives exactly what I want), it is also really simple and stable (I will always have two columns, no matter how big is my window). It is easy to control the size and position of the table. However, I know that people do not like the table-layout and, as far as I know, they use div and css instead. So, I would like also to try this approach. Can anybody help me with that? I would like to have a simple solution (without tricks) that is easy to remember. It also needs to be stable (so that it will not accidentally happen that one column is under another one or they overlap or something like that).

  • Which language should I learn to create a sudoku game?

    I'd like to learn a new programming language, something besides all the scripting languages I've used for the past many years (Ruby, JavaScript, Perl, PHP, bash). I figured it might be interesting to make a sudoku game since there are plenty of documented algorithms and it only requires fairly simple data structures. It might start out as either a generator or a solver of puzzles, not necessarily both and not necessarily with a GUI. My goal is primarily to learn some new programming concepts beyond MVC and UI design, secondarily for this thing to be pretty fast. Is there a language that particularly shines for these sorts of constraint satisfaction problems? Is it suited to a functional language like Haskell or a highly concurrent language like Erlang (say for solving puzzles much larger than 9 x 9)? Or is this question mostly meaningless?

    I am trying to decide on a data structure for an array that has a date for the key and the amount of bandwidth consumed as values. examples Key Consumed Policy October 50 Basic November 75 Basic December 100 Basic Some months, but not all, will have more than one policy. In that case, I need break them down by policy once the total is shown. So for the above example, assume December had 3 policies. The table i construct from my array would then need to show: Key Consumed Policy October 50 Basic November 75 Basic December 100 .. December 25 Basic December 25 Extended December 50 Premium Could all this data be represented in an array ? $myArray['december'] would be a different data structure than the others because it would need a last entry, probably another array, that had the policy names as keys and the amount of data consumed as values. Does PHP allow for arrays that are not structured uniformly? i.e. key october and November have only 2 entries under their key while December has 2 entries plus a 3rd which is an additional array. My best guess is something like: Array ( [October] => "50", "Basic" [November] => "75", "Basic" [December] => "100", "..", Array( [Basic] => 25 [Extended] =>25 [Premium] => 50 ) ) My question is if this is possible and how to declare it and populate it with values with PHP. I would like to make this control act like a text box with cursors and features like typing in from keyboard. Right now I use an invisible text box with a formattedtext control to act like that. But the cursor position always creates a problem when the size of the text is not equal to the size of the rendered text as shape. Can anyone please show the way to achieve this.

    Alright, so here's my dilemma. I've got these two "slides" lined up, one ready to be passed into view. I have it working and all, but I can scroll over to the right to see the second slide! How could I have it you can only view the one slide? But. If you reload, you can see that you can scroll to the right of the screen and view the second slide prematurely, which is just not going to work for me. I still need to achieve the same seamless transition, but you must only be able to view one slide at a time. Also, I plan to expand with more slides, so if you're feeling lucky today, I'd really love to see an example of how I could support multiple frames. I'm very new to JavaScript (yet I know syntax rules, and general coding knowledge from other languages), so the better you explain, the more knowledgeable I can be, and I'd be very grateful for that.
