  • How do Apple code level support requests work?

    I'm having an issue with a build that I can't figure out, and I'm considering filing a support request. It says I'll get contacted in about 3 days usually. Can anyone explain the process this takes, because I don't want to burn one of these by screwing up! Should I include a zip file of my entire project, or will the source file I'm having issues with be enough? Do I have to be at my computer when they contact me? Thanks for your help, generous ones!

    I know this question is to some degree a matter of taste. I admit this is not something I don't understand, it's just something I want to hear others' opinion about. I need to write a method that takes two arguments, a boolean and a string. The boolean is in a sense (which will be obvious shortly) redundant, but it is part of a specification that the method must take in both arguments, and must raise an exception with a specific message text if the boolean has the "wrong" value. The bool must be true if and only if the string is not null or empty. So here are some different styles to write (hopefully!) the same thing.     I am expecting output to be an array list filled with all items as "thought" but instead, every time i add a value into arraylist, the previous value in list also gets update with new, hence resulting in duplicates.     I need to write a process controller module on Linux that handles tasks, which are each made up of multiple executables. The input to the controller is an XML file that contains the path to each executable and list of command line parameters to be passed to each. I need to implement the following functionality: Start each executable as an independent Be able to kill any of the created processes independent of the others In order to do (2), I think I need to capture the pid when I create a process, to issue a system kill command. I tried to get access to pid in Java but saw no easy way to do it. All my other logic (putting info about the tasks in DB, etc) is done in Java so I'd like to stick with that, but if there are solutions you can suggest in C, C++, or Python I'd appreciate those, too.

So, given the above C++ function, for example, what should I do to deal with the return type, and parameter? And, would I have to create these "mapped" types for all the types in these return types/parameter type hierarchies, all the way down until I get to all primitives?     I'm trying to write a reusable component in Groovy to easily shoot off emails from some of our Java applications. I would like to pass it a List, where Email is just a POJO(POGO?) with some email info. I'd like it to be multithreaded, at least running all the email logic in a second thread, or make one thread per email. I am really foggy on multithreading in Java so that probably doesn't help! I've attempted a few different ways, but here is what I have right now: void sendEmails(List<Email> emails) { def threads = [] def sendEm = emails.each{ email -> def th = new Thread({ Random rand = new Random() def wait = (long)(rand.nextDouble() * 1000) println "in closure" this.sleep wait sendEmail(email) }) println "putting thread in list" threads << th } threads.each { it.run() } threads.each { it.join() } } I was hoping the sleep would randomly slow some threads down so the console output wouldn't be sequential.   • Simple 301 redirect; how do I get it to drop the query string?

    Hopefully there's a simple solution to this. I'm setting up a redirect for old search listings, but I don't want any of the query string to carry over. The current rule is: redirect 301 /blog http://newdomain.com But this would redirect the following: http://www.olddomain.com/blog/2009/11/article-name-etc To this: http://newdomain.com/2009/11/article-name-etc When I just want: http://newdomain.com Can this be done in the simple 301 redirect, or will I have to write a mod_rewrite rule?
